Dear Archana,

No, my dear, they cannot and should not indulge in the kind of stuff that we saw after she gets her own cabin. The office is NOT the place for displaying one's affections. The staff would think poorly of both of them, and rightly so, and this would be the same even if they were married.

At Arjun's place again, while DK might have accepted Purvi and would undoubtedly grow to be very fond of her, his presence would be as inhibiting as Sulochana's.

So, while I would never have chosen a stint in a chawl for Arjun, since it now seems a given, he (and we) might just as well make the most of it.

As for Archana's almost hostile behaviour towards Arjun now that he has rejected Ovi for Purvi, and her readiness to believe the worst of him without any reason, that would lend credence to your conclusion. To put it another way, for Archana, Purvi is a ghar ki murgi and so is dal baraabar. Ovi is a souffle flambee that has collapsed right now, and Archana is hellbent on raising it to its original glory again. So at the moment she values Ovi far more, on the principle expounded by Bernard Shaw's Candida, that you go to the person who needs you more. It is another matter that Ovi is unlikely to welcome Archana's active interest in her life.

To cut Archana some slack, it might also be, to some extent, that she is afraid (not really knowing the correct sequence of events from Arjun's point of view) that just as Arjun has left Ovi for Purvi today, tomorrow, he might leave Purvi for someone else; i.e that he is totally unreliable as a life partner. That might explain why she wants to test the strength of his commitment to Purvi.

Not that this can ever be ascertained to any reliable extent through her test. A man can stick it out in a chawl for 2-3 months to get what he wants badly now. That is no guarantee that he will continue to want the same thing all his life. So the test is a stupid idea in itself.

The only guarantee that love will last a lifetime is faith, and then luck. Archana has had neither, and so the idea of her deciding the fate of Arjun-Purvi's love is a bad joke.

You guys r so funny!!! I'm happy it gives him an opportunity to be close to Purvi but still not that overly reconciled to the chawl idea since they can be just as close and have nice cute scenes in the office and Arjuns place (DK is there and has already accepted Purvi)

Shyamala I had your same reaction when I watched the precap. Archana acting all high and mighty and questioning Arjun about PAVITRA RISHTA. I just don't understand her sudden strictness and hostility----and I do think the CVs need to be very careful of this.

She was very warm, accepting, and full of praise for Arjun when she was engaged to Ovi...but now that he has accepted his love for Purvi and announced his intention to marry her (also with his fathers blessing) instead of feeling happy for her daughter or trying to even understand and learn the circumstances like her own mother did, she wants to give him a test to pass??

This shows a blatant partiality towards her own blood daughter and so I guess the question posed by SBS...will Archana support Purvi or Ovi has been answered and it is obvious. Too bad it leaves a bad taste in my mouth and ruins Archana's image for me,

My dear Esha,

The drumming sound you might be hearing is me kicking
myself - for not having read this very perceptive post of yours before I responded to Archana. Please see my post above: we two could safely claim to be telepathic!

Archana dear, I also didn't like the look in Archana's eyes when I saw the pre-cap, but maybe just maybe it's too soon to judge that Archana is more concerned for her own blood.
Arjun is not in her good books at the moment and it's totally understandable, coz Arjun made a commitment to Ovi before leaving Canada, he came to India fell in love with Purvi without mentioning his commitment to Ovi, got engaged to Ovi still despite being in love with Purvi and now broke up with Ovi...
So for every mother this situation is not an easy one and it is difficult to believe it, so from this point of view I can totally understand Archana. Both are her daughters and I still think she loves both of them equally...maybe a little bit more concerned abt Ovi, coz she feels Ovi might not be strong as Purvi.
And remember Purvi has gone through a broken engagement already , so this second time Archana will be extra cautious esp. in the case of Arjun...

So let's wait and see what challenge Archana throws at Arjun...and we all know that Arjun is gonna win any challenge handsdown , coz his Purvi is with him and DK's blessings...
I still say...something must happen, otherwise how come Archana will support Arjun-Purvi despite everyone else being against...

Of course I am serious. Archana the Mahaan seems determined to make life as difficult as possible for (our) Archana's boy, and we have to chip in and do our best for him, so that he does not fail the test because he cannot cope with his surroundings.

How very kind of you to have taken the trouble to collect so much of very useful info! I am sure both Purvi and Arjun (in that order) will be most grateful.

I have already passed on your message to her for him.
I thought it would do her good to practice running his life for him; it would help her in the future and, more important, get him used to being where he should be - under his wife's thumb (but not his MIL's !). It would also help keep away all sorts of unwelcome and even dangerous visitations.

The park with the trees (conveniently placed to drip all over them during their next love scene), the pond and the bridge (to evoke such fond memories!) would be the perfect bonus.

I do not know whether Arjun will be able to cope with the Mumbai trains, which requires special skills in elbowing, stepping on people's feet and the like - unless he had done an internship or otherwise lived in Japan, in which case, the Mumbai locals would be a cakewalk.

The rent seems very reasonable, and I am sure Purvi can find nice curtains for the outside facing windows!

Dear Shyamala,
Very very intelligent answers 😆
As far Arjun and his passing the test, I had something in https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/pavitra-rishta/3049292/arjun-to-stay-in-a-chawl?pn=11 , to which @vgiri has added deeper analysis in https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/pavitra-rishta/3049292/arjun-to-stay-in-a-chawl . You can also catch my answer further that touches on the Train commute. 😆
