Though there is nothing official as yet, it seems to be pretty well understood that in order to prove that his love for Purvi is not a fleeting fancy, Arjun is going to be asked by Archana to live (for how long?) in a chawl, and put up with all the attendant inconveniences. He has given Archana an carte blanche (full powers) in the matter, so to speak, and thus we can take it that he will be ready to embark on this without demur, and in fact with his typical energy and drive.
However, since he is totally unfamiliar with the chawl housing situation in Mumbai, and we can hardly have him applying for help to Teju's taxi owning Sardarji, I propose that we Arjun-lovers in the forum come up with useful suggestions, and make his task simpler. For my part, I would like to make the following points.
a) The accommodation selected must most definitely NOT be the Deshmucks' chawl or anywhere within a mile from it! What a life poor Arjun would have it if his flat was in the D chawl, with:
1) Ovi's tearful face haunting him from the opposite window, and the very real possibility of her trying to convince him that it is her whom he loves in truth, and that Purvi has bewitched him;
2) Savita glaring at him any chance she gets, and possibly leaving lemons smeared with vermilion and strung together with chillies outside his door, to hex him back to Ovi ;
3) Teju giving him the cold shoulder, Archana fixing him with deeply reproachful looks, and Manav's open hostility threatening a renewed slapfest and, worst of all,
4) no Purvi, as she would be most reluctant to visit him there.
No, Arjun, being no fool (even if some recent events - before this week, of course - might have led us to think otherwise), will avoid the D chawl like the plague.
I would strongly recommend that he ends up near enough to the Karanjakar's chawl so that Purvi can visit him easily, but not IN it.
The latter is because it would only lead to a lot of unwelcome gossip when the neighbours spot our lovebirds cootchy-cooing in front of open windows.
Arjun, as Janhvi pointed out, would not care two hoots about this sort of thing, and judging from the way she cosied up to him in her office after the PoA was implemented, that too behind a glass door, the normally prim and 'propah' Purvi too can throw discretion to the winds at times.
So it will be better if his place is near the K chawl, but not right there, don't you agree?
Any other suggestions would be more that welcome and will be duly passed on without delay to Mr. Arjun Kirloskar thru Ms. Purvi Deshmukh.
I am sure many of you will be trying to scroll further down to see what you presume will be the rest of this post, and when you cannot do so, conclude that something is wrong with the scroller, as no stand alone post by Shyamala can possibly be this short. Please relax; there is nothing wrong with the scroller mechanism. This is all of it, and it is a special treat for all of you who, every other day, plough thru my loo...ong posts with so much of patience, and then are kind enough to tell me that you enjoyed them. I thought I owed you all a break, and this is it.
This, however, in no way guarantees similar brevity will characterise my future efforts!
