They do not want to copy from the original story because it is too straightforward, positive, relatable, sensible and won’t work with current ITV trend which thrives on negativity, regressiveness and abuse.

There is a dearth of good writers currently for ITV shows which is sad because they have a good medium to push forward progressive thoughts instead all we get to see is regressiveness everywhere.

Totally and completely sad. They're still stuck in saas-bahu sagas, inane plots with scheming vamps and zero logic. And they have decided in all their laziness that this is what the audience wants and is what will fetch them TRPs. Arre, try writing something new and unusual first! Then see what happens to TRPs!

In contrast I see Indian web shows doing so well! Really fresh plots and relatable characters in some of them!

It's appalling how the characters treat other, there's not one relationship on the show that can be called a healthy one, characters flip-flop at the drop of a hat, there's no conflict resolution, feelings are not addressed, one event after another happens meaninglessly with no revisiting of what it has done to any of the characters.

I was following that Dhara kidnapping a child track, and it was sooo crazy. All through it looked like she belonged in a loony bin or jail or both, and the next minute she's forgotten all about having a child and is resigned to her fate! Wow! Leave alone zero repercussions about breaking the law, but there was no addressing the trauma of childlessness, no conversation between the husband and wife about what they've lost, no coming to terms about the situation gradually and coping in a healthy way which is what real life is all about.

These writers are seriously on sasta nasha! 🤪

I feel for the actors who have to enact such inane storylines convincingly and keep a straight face while doing so!

Udaan was one was the best TV show i have watched.

Ps has become just a business for makers and producers. Toxicity ke alawa nothing is in the show.

I grew up watching those shows, was inspired by them

Udaan - acted by Kavitha Chaudhary

Rajni - acted by Priya Tendulkar

Trishna

Shanti

Saans

Tara

Swabhimaan - Kitu Gidwani

Kora Kagaz

And many more

I can keep going on and on about all those women centric shows with progressive thoughts and mindset.
That’s the India and ITV I grew up with. I can’t relate to anything that is shown these days.

That’s why I switched back to my regional shows (Tamil shows) which are definitely progressive than ITV- not all of them but some are really good and one such show is Pandian Stores where women of the house are treated as equals with respect, trust and understanding. This was the precise reason for me to get back to ITV after 10 years but now I am regretting it very much😕

Actually even at that time it was business too, as my mom said television was luxury at that time & they used to make content & shows for certain section of society & not larger masses but now writers & makers don't even know what larger masses want.. It's not even increasing their business still they are showing this toxicity.. If people wanted to see regressive content Anupama wouldn't be no. One.. It's just lazy writing

No they were weekly shows how they follow here in the Western World. They continue to follow the same pattern here but India switched to daily shows for all the programs in all the channels.
Back in the 80s and 90s, weekends were mainly movie based entertainment programs with movies telecasted on Saturday evening ( Hindi movies for my state) Sunday afternoons ( regional movies from all over India) and Sunday evening ( tamizh movies)

Only epics used to come on Sunday mornings at 11 am- Started with Ramayan, then Mahabharat.

News program like Prannoy Roy’s World This Week used to come at 10:30 pm on Friday nights. Series lile Bhara Ek khoj used to come at Friday at 10 pm.

SRK’s first ever finite TV series - 13 episodes - Fauji used to come on Friday’s 9 pm ❤️ I started liking SRK much before I knew the other 2 khans, only because of his TV series,

Multiple channels & TRP race has destroyed everything

One episode per week.

For example- Fauji was on Fridays at 9 pm- you have to wait till next Friday at 9 pm for the next episode. Most of the series were finite series.

Dekh Bhai Dekh - used to come on Thursdays at 9 pm- a total of only 65-70 episodes but ran for a year because it was a weekly show.
Every show was a weekly show and you had so many to choose from.
With the advent of cable TV- Sony and Zee were the first to be started - both followed DD to a large extent to continue give weekly shows.

SP was started around at the same time but struggled to make good content.
DD, Zee, Sony were much better. Colors channel did not exist in the 90s 😆
EKta used to be a producer - still did weekly shows in the 90s

When SP tried to revamp their channel and content- they joined hands with EKta to start daily shows in the year 2000, which sowed the seeds for bad content in ITV, which still continues to this day and that was the year I quit watching ITV and a year later I got married and left the country 😆

Have to say.. Ekta is the main reason for ruining class in indian television shows.. 🤪..shpwing the hero as billionares and heroine from a below average middle class dnt make the show classy.🤪
