Drabble 2: Exhausted

Raavi closed the door to their wardrobe as she clutched her nightclothes within her palms. As she moved to the bathroom, she could feel Shiva's heated gaze, probably glaring at her with all the hatred he had.

Seems like after she had left, Gaumbi had made it a mission to build a bathroom in every room. So now, every couple had a dedicated bathroom of their own.

She couldn't fight the smile that struggled to stay on her lips as she felt giddy with happiness. To think that Gaumbi somewhere had hoped that she would return to Pandya Niwas made her heart jump in joy as well as clench in pain. She could feel happiness and pain overcome her senses.

"Raavi!", her steps halted as she dreaded this moment, which had come so soon. From the moment she had packed her bag, she was dreading this 'talk' with him. She thought maybe Shiva would let her have some alone time to adjust back to their room.

But it seems like he wanted to get over with this 'talk'. She closed her eyes as she a silent prayer to God and turned to look at him expectantly.

"Aaj jo bhi hua, Uske wajah se tu upset hai. Lekin itne din humne nafrat mein bita liye hain. Ab inn aane wale 6 mahinon mein kyun na hum bina lade jhagde rahein? Divorce to humara hona hi hai. Tere mere beech ki nafrat kam nahi ho sakti, naa hi mit sakti hai. Par yeh 6 mahine ko kyun na hum shaanti se jhel lein aur fir apne apne raste chale jayein? Mein thakk gaya hun wahi baat pe baar baar ladai kar ke. Ab jis galti ki wajah se hum ek dusre se bandh gaye the, use agar todne mein waqt lagega, to ab humare haath sirf yehi hai ki hum shanti se use accept kar lein. Kya tu meri baat se sehmat hai?", his hard baritone voice whispered as he didn't wanted anyone to hear them. Their door was still open and their was a probablity that Krish or Rishita could walk in.

Raavi felt something shatter in her. When she had confessed everything to her Masi ma that how she had failed in understanding her husband and . And to hear Shiva say these things was a reminder to all the terrible turns their relationship had taken and how even before starting their relationship, their relationship had ended, at least it was on the verge of a terrible end.

"Agar tu nahi chahti ki hum aise shanti se yeh 6 mahine bitayein to hum koyi dusra rasta nikal lenge. Tu chinta mat karna." His words almost melted her heart. She felt bad to judge this person wrongly.

He walked upto the wardrobe to take his nightclothes and was about to walk out. "Shiva rukk..", words escaped without her permission as she saw him halt in his steps

She joined him on the doorstep of their room, and his eyes widened as she pushed him inside the room and closed the door.

As she glanced at him, his questioning eyes made her feel uneasy, and she suddenly felt stupid to do something like that.

"Raavi?", the confusion in his voice was unnerving.

"Shiva, mein nahi chahti ki humare beech mein jo bhi ho woh ab kisi ko pata chale. Hum jo bhi faisla lenge, woh sirf aur sirf hum dono ke beech hi rahega. Mein nahi chahti ki humare kisi bhi mamle se Dhara Dii ko koi takleef ho." She averted her eyes, not before mumbling,' Waise bhi bahut takleef de chuki hun unhe', as she admired her feet, tears surfacing her eyes.

Shiva felt bad for her. He always did. His anger was just a facade to hide his true feelings. He always felt that Raavi would never disregard Dhara's words but just because of all the anger that she had felt, she had unknowingly vent that anger on Dhara.

And yet again, he was the reason behind it. He was the sole reason for her anger but he knew better. He always felt confused as to why did she felt angry when whatever he was doing was for her own good. Her behavior was confusing him. She was behaving as if she was hurt by all the happenings. True she had told him that she wanted to give them a chance, but did she think the outcome of her words. Was she capable of handling his wild side for her entire life?

After knowing all this, Was she still willing to be with him? Her arch-nemesis?

So to just agree to her point, he gave her a nod of acceptance and again reached out to open the door, but she stopped his hand from reaching the doorknob as she gazed into his eyes.

"Shiva, tu please bahar mat jaa. Aur tu kyun jayega bahar sone? Mujhe accha nahi lagega ki meri wajah se tu bahar soye. Ye thinking na mujhe pehle pasand thi, aur abhi bhi pasand nahi hai. Agar tu meri kahi hui baat ko manne ke liye taiyaar hai, to yahin isi kamre ka bathroom use kar, aur isi bistar pe so. Agar tujhe uncomfortable lage to hum bari bari se zameen pe so sakte hain. Mujhe koi dikkat nahi hogi zameen pe sone se. Pehle bhi to sote the na? To jis din mein neeche soungi, tu upar bistar pe so jaana, aur jis din mein bistar pe soungi, tu zameen pe so jaana." Her words came out as a mere whisper as she uttered the last words while averting her eyes.

Shiva felt unsure as he processed the words she had just uttered. Was she for real? After all this, she's still willing to try and adjust with him?

And suddenly, anger shot up his veins. "Aur yeh sab kar ke fir mujhe adjust karne ka bhashan degi na tu? Ghar walon se kuch chupa hai kya jo tu apna yeh gyaan baat rahi hai ki humein kisi ko kuch pata nahi chalne nahi dena chahiye? Sabko sab pata hai. Yeh sab natak karke koi fayda nahi hai. Chahe abhi alag ho ya 6 mahine baad, Alag to hona hi hai na? To fir yeh sab karke kya milega tujhe?", his voice sounded harsh as he angrily pushed her a bit over the door.

She looked up at his accusations and her heart felt heavy. But no, rather than dealing with his fire from her fire, she knew she had to become the ice so she could extinguish his anger. "Nahi, mein tujhe kisi bhi cheez ka bhashan nahi dungi Shiva. Ab kabhi bhi nahi dungi. 6 mahine to hain na abhi. Abhi hum alag nahi hue hain. Aur agar tu chahta hai ki hum shaanti se yeh 6 mahine bitayein, to jo maine bola wahi hum dono ko karna chahiye jo ki ek accha solution hai. Aur mein yeh sab humare beech mein isiliye rakhne ke liye keh rahi hun kyunki mein Dhara Dii ko aur dukh nahi dena chahti. Unki halat pehli hi nazuk hai. Mein nahi chahti ki meri wajah se unhe koi bhi dukh pahunche. Itna to kar rahi hi sakti hun. Please iss ek baar mere help kar de. Please!!" She joined her hands pleadingly. "Tujhse gussa thi, par mujhe koi haq nahi tha ki tera gussa mein Dhara Di pe nikalun. Dahi handi wale din kahin na kahin meri wajah se unki halat kharab hui thi. Abhi tak jo bhi harkatein maine ki hain, jo kuch bhi faltu ki batein ki hain, unn sab galtiyon ko mein sudharna chahti hun. Please yeh ek last time meri help kar de. Phir mein zindagi bhar tujhse kuch nahi mangungi." The tears she was trying so hard to keep at bay finally dribbled down her cheeks as she stared at him pleadingly.

Shiva gulped as he again tried to process her words. Her tears were always his weak point. After this misunderstanding had started, he had built a tough wall around his heart so it won't melt seeing her tears. But the wall had crumbled without his knowledge and he felt his heart clench at the sight of her tears.

So unknowingly, his hand flew up and wiped the lone tear that was about to fall down. Another tear rolled down as she blinked at him. He caught the tear within his right fist and stared at it for a few seconds.

"Raavi, agar tu yahi chahti hai, to yahi sahi. Par mujhse koi aur cheez ki umeed nahi rakhna. Mein yeh sab sirf Dhara Bhabhi ke liye kar raha hun. Samjhi?", he finally glanced at her as he released his fist and let the tear roll down. Raavi had witnessed every single moment with more tears surfacing her eyes.

But she did manage to nod in his direction before he made his way to the bathroom and closed the door behind him.

As both of them settled on the respective places, Raavi had argued that she was going to sleep on the floor and turned a deaf ear to whatever Shiva wanted to protest.

So now, as he settled on the bed, he felt uncomfortable as he saw Raavi twisting and turning as she tried to fall asleep.

"Raavi, aaj ke din tu upar so jaa. Mujhe waise bhi bistar ki adat rahi nahi hai ab. Mein bahaar hi sota tha khaat pe. Tu aaja upar. Mein so jaunga neeche", he tried to convince her.

"Nahi Shiva, mein yahaan theek hun. Mujhe neend aa jayegi. Tu so jaa." She mumbled as she closed her eyes stubbornly.

"Raavi zidd mat kar. Tujhe chipkali se darr lagta hai, aur Bhabhi ki wajah se pest control nahi hua hai. Kya tu puri raat chipkali ke khauf mein soyegi kya?"

"Kabhi na kabhi aadat dalna hi padega na. Tu chinta mat kar. Aur Tu zindagi bhar to nahi sota tha na us khaat pe? Kabhi na kabhi teri firse shaadi hoti aur tu wapas isi kamre mein aa hi jata na. Aadat daal le bistar pe sone ki."

"Main ab kabhi kisi se shaadi nahi karunga. Mujh jaise aadmi ko akele hi rehna chahiye. Aur kuch aadaton ko zabardasti paalne se takleef hoti hai. Isilye zidd mat kar aur chup chaap aa ja."

Her heart pained as she tried to stifle her whimpers. Her throat had clogged at the mere thought of imagining Shiva with someone else, and to hear him talk about never marrying again was like a stone on her heart. Here he was ready to stay alone all his life, and there, Her Masi ma was trying to get her remarried so that her life could get back to normal.

"Good night Shiva..", she mumbled as she drifted to a dreamless sleep.

That night, she had made a decision, not knowing that Shiva was also planning something for the both of them.

Will these 6 months help them know their feelings for each other?
