Wholesome characters and second chances

Hey guys,

I just wanna take a moment here and just talk about how WHOLESOME and non-toxic the characters and relationships are on this show. Like from Dhara-Gaumbi, to the family bond, to how they treated the same people who once abandoned them. I love how the drama doesn't overplay the negativity like ITV but relishes and spends time in the good. This show makes you feel warm and good, and that's what I love most about it. I haven't seen that around in a while, and it reminds me of an interview Kanwar did where he mentioned how this drama is different. After IPPKND, Beintehaa, and KTKP, Pandya store holds a very special place in my heart. This show does family bond and trust so well. SO thank you makers.

If there's one thing this show has taught me, it's second chances, and we see it manifest in so many different ways

1) Dhara-Gaumbi: So we know Gaumbi was initially going to get hitched with Anita, but thank gosh that didn't happen. Because of that, we got to see one of the purest bond of love and respect. I think most of this is because these two had so much respect for each other and the role they play in their lives. If life hadn't given them the second chance, well Gaumbi when he got married to her...who knows where they'd be

2) Suman-Dhara: So I'm not saying this is completely fixed. Their relationship is ...complicated. But we can see, no matter what Suman might harbor or whatever goes on in that head, she gives the "Baghodi" another chance in her heart, she sees how pure she is and learns to trust her. I think Suman's biggest worry is trust. She was afraid to be dependent on Dhara but we see that she's slowly over the years learn to trust her.

3) Dhara and motherhood: This goes both ways, first Dhara never got to have the love of a mother, but again life gave her a second chance and she got it two ways; first she got to give whatever love she had pent up in her (plenty over the years) she could spend all on the kids and use that as an outlet, second whatever relationship Dhara and Suman have also given her a hint of motherly love. So Dhara got the second chance here.

4) Raavi-Shiva: There's so much motif here I can't even describe; Raavi's second chance at life after trying to commit suicide, that too with Shiva who saved her held so much symbolism. Raavi's second chance at marriage with Shiva, and then life-giving these two fools a second chance to turn their hatred into love just the kind they'd dreamed of.

5) Suman-Jagat: I love how Suman gave her brother and his wife a second chance even though they didn't deserve it to be honest, but she did it for her family and how much she loves them

6) Anita - Hardik??: So this is still in play but here life is giving Anita a second chance at redemption. She clearly gave up an excellent partner for life and we saw how afterward she always came to regret it. Instead of making her a bitter negative character, the show is giving us this person whose trying to make things right. I really do hope things work out for these two, they're so cute.

Special mention: Even with Maami, she's a negative character but it's hard to hate her the way you would a typical negative lead, she loves Raavi wholeheartedly even though not her child and that's not easy to do...So in a sense, beside Risihta's dad, who is really the negative person here? See Pandya Store World is too wholesome for a true negative character.

I agree every single character on this show is perfect and has a good story behind them wether they are positive or negative and the actors behind they are perfectly chosen for their role

So true 👍.

I find the Pandya family members so wholesome. They make mistakes, they all have their faults but the way they stick up for each other is awesome ❤.

God, why do I always see some of the most best posts right before class? I'LL BE BACK! After class to post my thoughts! Until then enjoy this placeholder...

I couldn't agree with your thoughts anymore: This is such a WHOLESOME show (even the original Pandian Stores was so wholesome and fluffy!), and I LOVE how non-toxic (please Rishita, don't become toxic) how all the characters are, and I love how realistic all their problems are. Yes, some of the problems they face are cinematic (don't think anyone would marry their childhood enemy regardless of the situation in real life), but the way they handle their problems is absolutely real and absolute LOVE.

1) Dhara and Gaumbi: Their relationship is my absolute favorite trope of all time. Friends become lovers. Though they were thrown into marriage quickly and unexpectedly, I think the solid foundation they had brought them to where they are right now. The respect Gaumbi gives Dhara is the respect that I wish all husbands gave their wives (and all wives give their husbands too!) I love how he takes a stand for her, and I love how he's never afraid to listen to her fears and respond as appropriately as he can. Their relationship is truly something special...

2) Suman and Dhara: I love how complex this relationship is. It kind of reminds me of some of my former mentors in life (especially the more hard hitting). Suman definitely cares for Dhara, but I think she's afraid/maybe even confused on how to go about expressing her emotions. I agree with you, I think in the initial days, Suman did not want to trust Dhara, but over the years, I think Suman began to appreciate and trust everything Dhara did for the family. Even now, when she blames Dhara, I think it's just one way she can teach Dhara to not be so trusting and positive all the time. To see that there are many battles and shades in life that we have to overcome.

3) Dhara and Motherhood: I'm not too sure, but I think in the original, Dhara has a mother. But I love the change they did here of Dhara never getting a chance to fully appreciate motherly love. I think it plays very nicely to the sacrifice she made when she promised Gaumbi she was more concerned about his brothers than experiencing motherhood herself. Dhara devoted herself to those boys, and I think the day the rest of the family finds out, it will be heartbreaking, yet a nice avenue for in which the Pandya brothers can give back to their favorite bhabi.

5) Suman and Jagat: Second chances are always the hardest to give. Suman had no reason to give it to her brother, but time heals most wounds, and I love how they portrayed this. Though the wedding would've been hard to stomach in reality, I love how concerned Suman was for Raavi. She didn't support her son, instead she worried for how her newly patched relationship with her son would be. I'm thinking there's still a lot of healing, especially since Suman and Prafulla will have a lot more interactions, but I'm waiting to see the love and bonds that come about.

6) Anita and Hardik: I always considered this couple to be a little forced with some plot-convenience thrown into the mix. Out of all the men she could've married, she had to be with Hardik (and eventually will become even more related to Dhara and Gaumbi than before). Haven't seen much (except for the comedy scenes so far), but I look forward to seeing how their relationship develops, especially since Pandya Store had been doing very well with all the other couples so far

7) Prafulla: I love the character change she's had. She loves Raavi to the next level, and I dig it. Raavi will need all the support/love she can get as she navigates through her new relationship. The Pandya family obviously want to keep Raavi there (so their motivations might be a little different), but I think Prafulla's love for Raavi will allow her to turn to her Maasi-Ma whenever she runs into trouble or just needs someone to support her all the way. Wish Prafulla will be just as loving to Anita in the future, but I kind of doubt it.

4) Raavi and Shiva: No, I didn't forget about them. I just find myself talking endless amounts of them, so I thought I would save them to the end. Hate to love relationships are my second favorite trope (only because I love bickering and the moment of realization when the two characters fall in love). Raavi and Shiva's relationship is so... thought-provoking and emotionally charged. They've had so much to deal with during their childhood. Raavi losing her parents and Shiva placing his (misplaced) hate on her. Afterwards, before they had time to fully process it, they were thrown in a relationship where they will eventually be expected to love each other. Both of them only ever wanted love in this life. Pure love with no strings attached. Raavi wanted her prince charming, and Shiva wanted someone who could love and respect him and his family. Both of them don't know that the answer to their wishes is each other. Raavi would respect, love, and uphold their family while Shiva will shower her with the unconditional love she's always craved. They will have to have a lot of dialogue, observe each other for what their worth, and learn to see what the other wishes/wants for their life before they get there. But man are their characters so beautifully written! Each time I see them on screen, I fall in love with their pain, happiness, anger, etc.

And lol, I don't even think Janardhan can be considered villainous. The poor man doesn't even have the budget to hire appropriate security for his house

Beautiful post👏

This show has absolutely no toxicity and I think it might be one of those rare shows where the plot has potential and not just running on nonsense high quotient drama.

Pandya family members love each other dearly, and support each other always.

Like how Suman, Gaumbi and Dhara forgave Mama-Mami, showing that it is possible to forgive. But at the same time, Shiva did not. In the mehendi episode he said to Dhara that all 3 of them are mahaan for forgiving them but he cannot because whenever he sees them he remembers that all brothers lost their father. This shows that sometimes the wounds are too deep, so its hard to forgive. So there is a difference of opinion, yet they stick together.

Shiva was against the wedding yet supported his family also (different thing that that wedding did not take place). If it were any other show, Shiva would have been plotting with Rishita to stop the wedding. But this isn't any aira gaira show afterall.

These things make the show unique, much different than any other daily soap opera.

I love this take and love how real Thai show feels. And second chances. ❤️ You've very eloquently described second chances in all relationships and how fruitful they've turned. And going beyond the show, this post just puts things in perspective on how second chances are all around us and have occured in our lives for many things. It just takes a different set of lenses to see it.

For Anita Hardik, there's also Hardik giving second chance to Anita. In one of the older episodes, he is like he would never let his brother marry a girl like Anita after the way she insulted them in Mandap. So for him to overcome that and giving her second chance will hopefully lead to their happy future.

And expanding on Suman-Mama, I'd say the whole family, especially kids giving second chance to their Mama. It's just as hard for them to forgive a person responsible for their father's death. But they've not only overcome that, but Shiva took action that also saved his reputation and daughter's life.

And because this show has been penned beautifully, I think there are many more second chances to come by.

Second chance for Dev-Raavi. The chance that she'll give to their new relationship. A new and different beginning than she anticipated, but when the forgiveness comes, I am curious to see how their relationship turns. Hoping they'll continue to be friends without awkwardness of past relationship.

Raavi and Rishita. We will probably find out today if Raavi's the one to make that first step when she conceals Janardhan's truth from Suman. Will Rishita understand the meaning behind this gesture when she learns about her dad and take that as an adventure to change dynamics of her relationship with Raavi?

Family- Rishita. She's definitely got a long way to go. But while the family's overlooking her behavior now as part of the adjustment phase, I have a feeling she'll do something that will finally blow everyone's fuse. And then she'll hopefully, understand the gravity of her own behavior. She'll begin to see things from different perspectives, and the second chance that the family will give her to prove herself.

Thank you for this wonderful post!

Couldn’t agree more.

Truly wholesome characters they are. 👏

After Kashyap family of SGP, I fell in love with Pandya family, with each and every member.

We have to give it to the cast and crew. They did their work so well that we had gotten connected with them.

And second chances - I would say about Suman-Dhara, their bond is ❤️.

Also Suman - Raavi, I love how despite not being very approving of Mami, Suman adores Raavi.

What a fabulous post!!! I couldn’t agree more. This show is wholesale and gives you a warm feeling after watching.

My mom and I watch this together and for a little while we forget the mess the world is in.

Second chances = life lessons.

Forgive and forget then there’s forgive but not forget. Easier said than done. When Dhara, Suman, Gaumbi and family forgave Mama and family the healed themselves. We forgive for ourselves not the other party.

Raavi-Shiva are amazing. Their journey is going to be full of emotions and I’m hoping for some passion too. I also want their banter. Shiva sirf naam ka Shiva nahi hai. He’s true to his name. He married a girl he hates. You know when he found out about Dev, his first reaction was to laugh and said to Dev, you should have waited until you reached the mandap and Dhara yelled at him. Wahi hua and when Dhara asked, he stepped up.
Raavi, toh is an open book. Jo dil mei hai, bol diya. I love that about her. She’s brushed off every insult, hurt and hatred Shiva threw her way until today. That too an MU because of lack of communication. That’s one thing they’ll have to work on. Communication. phir aayega trust, dosti and love.
Raavi got a 2nd chance at love and life. She’s going to thank Shiva.

GauRa are simply the most sorted, understanding and romantic couple on ITV right now. Married 10 years and they are a sight to behold.

I’m hoping Rishita learns what family means. Pandya family is the best place to do so.

This is my favourite show on ITV and I absolutely adore it.

Girl, I wrote this post while leaving for work 🤣 So just got back and so excited to read all the comments and takes :)

Your favorite troupes are also my favorite troupes. The kdrama lover in me loves things like arranged marriages and contract marriages in which the couple slowly fall in love <3 I live for the bickering and arguing, which is why I hope they don't show ShiVi falling in love right away. I want the angst and the arguing and the battling heads, but also them not being able to be away from each other. I want all the clashing to happen with each other, not away. Otherwise I will cry haha. You're so right, Shiva and Raavi are what they each want and crave and man I just cant wait till they realize it.

Thank you for your detailed take. I loved reading it and enjoyed your take so much <3 Hope your classes went well!
