All things considered, we need one site which reports all platform data and compares them apples to apples.

PDP when it takes media logic data, it compares all the channel on the same category...so it makes sense to compare those datasets. Otherwise we can never compare a Hum show with Ary or two Hum Tv shows with each other as Hum has no consistency over the category it is publishing data for

No issue if its giving importance to TRP data given by ARY or Geo over Hum TV, but at least post that without changing. It's changing even ARY and Geo's ratings of Hum dramas.

I read somewhere that D & E sectors are probably the rural areas. Geo & ARY consider them. It’s Hum who doesn’t.

It is getting data from media logic either through some source or it is getting data from channel flyers like it said this week. Media logic gives TRPs, an individual can't convert their data. Also Geo & ARY posts Urban TRPs so it doesn't matter if they consider rural areas of not.

Not from channel flyers I guess. Its source is from somewhere else. Why can’t he if he knows the formula? Anyone who knows basic maths can do it.

When they mention the areas in their flyers that means they consider those areas. Hum used to have the same standard when EeW used to air.

People here defending PDP by giving example of ZPKB but what about Jafaa & countless other TRPs that this account changes regularly? PDP is a fan account, and it can't apply any formula of its own in posting TRPs. These TRPs are given by media logic or Kantar Media to channels and channels then post it on their social media accounts; fan accounts shouldn't change that TRP and confuse the people.

I agree on that. But sometimes channels change TRPs to their own benfit. So there should be a way to palance between all those TRPs posted by channels. Like some give slightly different timeslot, some post avg content, and some post for a different age group, or a different reach. The problem is that this fan page only highlights TRPs which are posted by ARY , then Geo. Hum TRPs come behind, and they don't highlight them unless the other channels don't claim those timeslots. smiley24

They are not converting data.

They apply different filters to the same underlying data to calculate TRPS.

  • Gender: F
  • Age: 15-45
  • Centers: A, B, C, D, E
  • Timeslot: 8-9 PM with ads

Hum might use different filters to calculate TRPS. For e.g.

  • Gender: F
  • Age: 18-35
  • Centers: A, B, C
  • Timeslot: 8-9 PM with ads

ARY might use different filters to calculate formulas to calculate TRPS. For e.g.

  • Gender: F
  • Age: 15-45
  • Centers: A, B, C, D, E
  • Timeslot: 8-9 PM WITHOUT ads

The underlying data is same but the data is sliced and diced differently depending on who wants the analysis. When their filters match pdptrp, the trp in channel flyer and pdprp list has been identical in the past - be it ARY, GEO, HUM.

I have shown multiple times that channel flyers don't always use same filters. Even for same channel, different filters are used for different shows in the same week. Even for the same show, filters change frequently. So it is impossible to compare ratings across shows or even for same show across time using channel flyers. Increasingly trp flyer by channels has become a marketing tool. Even until last year, Geo and ARY used to use same filters most of the time.

This week it said that its source is channel flyers; before that, it wasn't disclosing its source. If it's source before this wasn't channel flyers, then its source would be someone who has access to media logic or Kantar media trp data. Also, an individual can't apply a formula to TRP ratings given by rating companies. For example, if BARC says Anupamaa TRP this week is 2.1, Can an individual apply a formula and decrease its rating to 1.7?

That’s why PTV needs an agency like BARC that can post data using similar standards. Even in ITV channels post a TRP higher than BARC one.

Yeah I understand these things. I am saying that the raw data being converted into TRPs needs a formula, right?

Well the biggest superstar of the country himself couldn't manage to get a 10 trp for his much hyped and anticipated comeback, toh wahaj ka show getting it would be a big deal for us as anyways wed thur slot at geo is a dead slot, additionally it's currently in their super flop era, so I'm not having much expectations about the trp.
