Ok so 2 episodes down..I feel plotwise there's not that much new information here.. other than as previously stated in this thread by lostmymusic. some of the stuff the promos suggested were proven wrong... for example I thought "lekin ab main tumse muhabbat karta hoon" was meant for Aan, but apparently not.. The thought of Harib very likely repeating this line for Aan in the future made me grin though.. it reminded me of one of those memes - 'friendship ended with Sara/Ayla, now Ayla/Aan is my best friend' 😆

The Harib-Ayla track is still confusing to me, but more than finding Ayla unreasonable (she's got the excuse of the mental disease), Harib's more of a mystery to me.. kabhi player lagta hai, to kabhi pyar main andha shohar, kabhi had se zyada caring, to kabhi us se bhi zyada irritated apni biwi se 😕.. And point remains - which makes it more difficult to relate to them- Osman and Hareem just don't have the chemistry of romantic couple. Call me biased, but I have started to find their 'cute' scenes a bit torturous to watch now since they made up most of the first and second epi.. like show me Aan please?!..what is she all about??

And I sorta agree about that bipolar issue..it has certain traits in its manic phases, like talking uncontrollably (wedding night), socially unexpected/unwelcome behaviour, agressiveness and all..but I guess the problem is they don't show a pattern in her pathological behaviour, her episodes are more like random bursts, so it becomes difficult to really classifiy it as a particular mental disorder.. so I'm not quuuite sure how accurate the portrayal is as for now - but it's not completely wrong either.

Actingwise I feel Hareem's done a good job and she surely knows what she's doing, except for the romantic interactions.. which Osman seems to better at. However (diehard fans of Osman may close their ears to this now) he needs to work on his body language, primarily...he looks a bit too generic sometimes.. Often, I think, he tries to calculate every minute change of expression and is overly aware of everything regarding his posture instead of letting things happen naturally and go with the flow.. He's obviously comparatively new to the business and has a long way to go but here's exactly where Maya has the upper hand - she seems to be such a natural at her craft.. all the scenes she's appeared in, I imagine her to be like that in real life too.. it looks effortless. Plus, despite being petite she has a solid and charismatic screen presence.
(Don't take me wrong, his portrayal of Aunn and Wali (towards the end) forever has my heart, but I feel it's important to give honest feedback for our favorite stars' own good.. his instagram account looks like quite a restricted place, where criticism doesn't appear to have a lot of place..)

..So here's to hoping the coming epis will be a bit more revealing and happening.. the precap did suggest some action for next week!!

Your comments be something right after my heart

Tbh I'm highkey disappointed that "kyunke tum meri mohabbat ho" line was used on Haila. I was quite looking forward to that being an awesomesauce AaRib moment that would've made my soul sing but...siiigh. I practically jumped when Harib said it. I see Harib as someone who lacks tact. He doesn't always read the situation right and that costs him. Agreed that Ayla is a very unpredictable partner and he can't always be on his guard specially when the entire situation is all so new to him but sheeesh. Fishing for anda parathas when Aan was clearly in a hurry had me giggling as well as rolling my eyes. Somebody bubble wrap this guy..he is a harm to himself 😆 But I second ya at the Haila scenes being not so enjoyable to watch. I need me more Aan! Obi called Aan a very "subtle" character and I'm worried now that she'd be so subtle ke story mein kahin dikhe gi hi nahin -_-

I've come to observe that Obi actually needs time to settle in his character and that shows on screen. This plus him having certain habits to fall back on. The confrontation with Ayla as promised in the precap is something I'm really anticipating as not only it looks good but Obi does it really well when it comes to highly emotionally charged moments. Maybe the performance suffered cuz there was this huge gap in between the two shoot schedules for the show? Maya is nailing whatever bits we got of Aan though. She just carries herself differently here and speaks with this thehrao that echoes who Aan is as a person - mature, clear headed, logical. Tell me again why aren't we getting more of her?

Meme reference and instagram shade both in one post...Wallah! You're becoming my favorite person with your every post!

Okay why is every having a fit over the story.

Men cheat and have affairs with perfectly sane wives, there are so many shows on that. Yahan toh at least the girl has an mental illness, what's going to keep Harib from not looking else where, I know it's wrong but it's the truth, that's men for ya (no offense to the men here or Usman lol)
I have been married long enough and know plenty of my husbands friends to know that men don't need a reason to have affairs.

I agree with ppl here that if they are showing mental illness they should handle it carefully and give solutions.

First of all, I think Ayla is the one at fault here, knowing her problems she should have seeked professional help rather than getting married.

Please I come in peace, I only said what I was thinking, my opinion might not be yours, but let us watch and see what happens next.

@lostmymusic. 😆😆 High five, sistah! I love reading your comments too!

Yeah so first things first, Shehroze is shady, and him hitting on Ayla seemed more like an attempt to harm Harib in one way or another, rather than him actually being attracted to her.. let's see how he becomes relevant later on.

Secondly, yes.. what's with this super understated BG music on Ayla 😆.. I am not sure if this is a mess up by the editing department or for real.. like I remember with DeD there were some key scenes, where some of the most ridiculous BG music was used.. Sooo idk, but even if she's a full fledged villain, it seemed so random at times..

And I agree again, so far it's only Hareem that ever mentioned that Sanam will address a mental disease.. Maya or Osman, let alone the director, never did.. he mostly talked about Sanam being a 'unique love story, that will offer something new'.. it might not even be that much about the illness then, as we're making it out to be..

Harib! Firstly I don't understand why in both the episodes there was this dialogue how Harib is a conaisseur of people and how he is very skilled with judging their persona beneath.. because.. uhmm.. NO! He isn't a pro at that tbvh, as lostmymusic. pointed out.. he doesn't look like he knows how to appropriately judge a situation and lacks tact.. just like the scene with Aan too 😆, she was kinda trying to avoid him, but Harib seemed clueless and his vulnerability almost made me sympathize with him...

@Usman I know where you're coming from 😆.. I had thoughts of this sort while watching the first episode too.. the more welcome those expressions were in AZ, the more they caused the scenes in Sanam to become a bit of an uneasy sight for me.. That being said, partly the credit for this goes to Harib's confusingly written character as well.. Osman looked really impressive in the precap for the next episode though, so I am looking forward to that..

I dont think shes bipolar. I think shes just insecure and a control freak due to her childhood trauma.

I don't think either she is a bipolar, she is a control freak, angry woman with paranoia.
Bodmejaz and badtamiz. Her character will be so evil that viewers will not feel bad about harib's extramarital affair.

Started the show. The drama is quite intriguing..no dull moment yet..but this plot will most likely end up being controversial.

Is it just me or has anyone else felt like there has been an overkill with so much of Osman and Maya together? Not to mention, someone please ask Maya Ali to take a break altogether. How does this girl do so many back to back projects without any break in btwn whatsoever? She needs to seriously stop in between. She's always all over Humtv. Seeing someone too much only gets boring. I can predict every move of Maya's because I'm that used to seeing her onscreen all the time.

I think Hareem is by far the best part about this show up until now. She seems to effortlessly portray her character without going overboard. Given her grey character, that's something commendable. Osman's expressions as someone else has mentioned seem very unnatural. There's something about his romance which isn't clicking. Everything seems forced. He can't subtly portray emotions. His body language also seems monotonous. Hina Bayat is really overdoing it. Honestly, her character is borderline annoying. I wish they got someone else instead. Another person who really needs to take a break. Maya was decent, but nothing extraordinary. Also, Emmad Irfani needs a crash course in acting. I was really confused by his character's intentions because of his facial expressions. Unsure if he was hitting on Ayla and trying to cause problems or literally was a moron for disclosing so much info in a few seconds about his best friend's past? His facial expressions were terrible to say the least.

As far as the direction was concerned..I liked it. The music is also good..but, the plot seems like it'll go all haywire with the guy potentially falling in love for someone else while being married..and married to someone who's mentally unstable.

He gave the same expressions in Aunn Zaara, but there the role demanded it because he was desperate but it is not working here. He was absolutely fine in DeD tho. Even in shocked expressions, he is doing a bit more than required. On the other hand, I'm actually pleased with Hareem, she has a good a difficult character and is doing a good job with it so far.

Hareem's doing really good. I'm pleasantly surprised myself..especially since her character is actually a difficult one and she isn't overdoing it at all.

I feel the same way about Osman. Osman isn't a natural actor. I like the guy..but, from what I've seen of him..he works in certain roles best..with comedy being is forte. He can be very stiff otherwise.

I agree with Osman being stiff, but was afraid to say so here. Too many phankha's here lol
I love Okb from his you tube videos, he looks good in them too, I don't know why he looks this way in the dramas, seems like he has kajal on.
Also agree with star on maya Ali and hina bayat taking a break. Maya's look and expressions are same as mannu's, it's like mannu moved in to another family.
