Sanam fails to impress me. There doesn't seem any hope in next episode.

Wait, where did you hear that bipolar disorder is very "subtle" in mood swings? Subtle is not synonymous with the word polar. Bipolar disorder was originally called manic disorder, nothing subtle in that meaning. People with bipolar disorder go through extreme mood swings - manic or depressive.

The writers though did not do their research. Ayla's episodes are triggered way to quickly. She changes in a heartbeat then changes back. As far as I remember, bipolar episodes usually last a while rather than changing every few hours.

It will be interesting to see how they develop Ayla's character. I've known some guys and girls who have been very possessive and very temperamental as well. They'll be exaggerating it for dramatic purposes but it might be interesting to see how the relationship between Haris and Ayla develops and changes - it can be very difficult to live with someone as unpredictable as Ayla. She seems very self absorbed as well. It will be intriguing to see if they feature any domestic abuse - psychological and physical.

I recently saw the promos for the show. I had not seen them before the show aired. There is definitely an element of domestic abuse (in some form) - Ayla is seen throwing stuff.

It will be progressive if it is actually highlighted as domestic abuse and not just brushed under the carpet or kept as female hysteria.

Ok so 2 episodes down..I feel plotwise there's not that much new information here.. other than as previously stated in this thread by lostmymusic. some of the stuff the promos suggested were proven wrong... for example I thought "lekin ab main tumse muhabbat karta hoon" was meant for Aan, but apparently not.. The thought of Harib very likely repeating this line for Aan in the future made me grin though.. it reminded me of one of those memes - 'friendship ended with Sara/Ayla, now Ayla/Aan is my best friend' 😆

The Harib-Ayla track is still confusing to me, but more than finding Ayla unreasonable (she's got the excuse of the mental disease), Harib's more of a mystery to me.. kabhi player lagta hai, to kabhi pyar main andha shohar, kabhi had se zyada caring, to kabhi us se bhi zyada irritated apni biwi se 😕.. And point remains - which makes it more difficult to relate to them- Osman and Hareem just don't have the chemistry of romantic couple. Call me biased, but I have started to find their 'cute' scenes a bit torturous to watch now since they made up most of the first and second epi.. like show me Aan please?!..what is she all about??

And I sorta agree about that bipolar issue..it has certain traits in its manic phases, like talking uncontrollably (wedding night), socially unexpected/unwelcome behaviour, agressiveness and all..but I guess the problem is they don't show a pattern in her pathological behaviour, her episodes are more like random bursts, so it becomes difficult to really classifiy it as a particular mental disorder.. so I'm not quuuite sure how accurate the portrayal is as for now - but it's not completely wrong either.

Actingwise I feel Hareem's done a good job and she surely knows what she's doing, except for the romantic interactions.. which Osman seems to better at. However (diehard fans of Osman may close their ears to this now) he needs to work on his body language, primarily...he looks a bit too generic sometimes.. Often, I think, he tries to calculate every minute change of expression and is overly aware of everything regarding his posture instead of letting things happen naturally and go with the flow.. He's obviously comparatively new to the business and has a long way to go but here's exactly where Maya has the upper hand - she seems to be such a natural at her craft.. all the scenes she's appeared in, I imagine her to be like that in real life too.. it looks effortless. Plus, despite being petite she has a solid and charismatic screen presence.
(Don't take me wrong, his portrayal of Aunn and Wali (towards the end) forever has my heart, but I feel it's important to give honest feedback for our favorite stars' own good.. his instagram account looks like quite a restricted place, where criticism doesn't appear to have a lot of place..)

..So here's to hoping the coming epis will be a bit more revealing and happening.. the precap did suggest some action for next week!!

Ayla has anger problem without any doubt.
People with anger problem doesn't need to be mentally ill.
That's why people with anger problem goes to anger management classes instead of going to a doctor.
But she also has paranoia along with her anger. Bechara Harib.

I'm liking Aan and her mother duo.

subtlety in escalation of an episode. mood swings last for days. manic episode builds up in hours before exploding. i don't want to bring my personal life in but someone a family member was diagnosed at age 18 and bipolar disorder is not what they shown. Neither type I is this nor type II is like that. the extremes of the disorder build up and explode and theres no in-between of emotion. no balance.

ayla's character more of a personality disorder or aggressive anger issues. bipolar doesn't mean one mania in morning and depression at night. it takes hours for manic episode to build back from crash of depression.

There is something wrong with OKB's expressions. He is over doing it... and kind of chichoray expressions in romantic scenes (Bad choice of word I know 😆. He gave the same expressions in Aunn Zaara, but there the role demanded it because he was desperate but it is not working here. He was absolutely fine in DeD tho. Even in shocked expressions, he is doing a bit more than required. On the other hand, I'm actually pleased with Hareem, she has a got a difficult character and is doing a good job with it so far.

I don't have any firsthand experience with bipolar disorder and really, I've just read one YA novel with the disorder as its central theme. But I agree with what canuck-umz and areeba are saying - Ayla's symptoms just don't look like what a bipolar person would exhibit. Maybe the word "bipolar" said by Hareem in the interviews because she didn't have any other word to describe Ayla? Cuz aside from her I haven't come across anyone else from the show talking about Ayla having any mental disorder let alone bipolar disorder. She gets triggered just so randomly and mostly its at things she doesn't want to hear. Plus what's with all the shakk? I need answers!!

@Obi's acting - I'm still finding him better than what he was doing in the starting epis of DeD. All that stiffness and awkwardness 😆 Still, he hasn't done anything exceptional in these two epis (but then again, it's just been two episodes) I quite like how Maya is playing Aan though. Hareem is good but all that creepy villainous music that has started to play in her scenes makes it impossible for me to sympathize with her. Looking forward to the vase breaking, collar grabbing, chest hitting showdown the precap promises us!
