ariite... deevanshi...i think we all need to get back on the main topic since ur assignment due date is drawing near..in the previous post u asked abt festivals celebrated...now i dunno if u asked abt cultural or religious so im basically going to explain religious ones as they are the most important ones...
Due to majority of muslims living in india im sure u prolli know abt the 3 main festivals they celebrate.. they're called Eid-ul-fitr, Eid-ul-Adha and Eid-milad-un-Nabi...
now i'll explain each..
Eid-ul-fitr..
well this eid comes after the month of Ramadan, in which all muslims fast everyday for a month, the main purpose for fasting is to increase awareness of the underpriveliged as well as a time for charity...but mainly it is to increase our conciousness toward Allah (God) .... when the month is over the muslim community celebrate eid... rite next day of the finished month...this eid consist of 3 dayzz but mostly the main clelbration is done on the first day...ppl start preparing for this celebration from the beginning of ramadan..when the day arrives..every1 wears new clothes, and are extra nice..lolzzz...children receive money as a gift from elders.. while men goes to mosques for the special prayer...women cook dilicious food for the special ocassion.. but in all this nobody is to forget the needy... so they are to give charity and share their joy with all those who are less previliged.
Eid-ul-Adha/zuha
this eid is for scarificing as it started from Prophet Abraham, when he was asked to sacrifice his son on the order of Allah, but as a trial to see wut his Prophet is ready to do for his Lord.. so when Abraham was abt to sacrifice his son Ismail,. the angel Gabriel appeared and told Abraham that Allah has accepted his sacrifice and instead of his son ordered him to sacrifice a goat...so from that day on all muslims sacrifice an animal on this special day.. only certain animals can be sacrified not every animal... the muslims can only sacrifice goat, lamb, cow,camel,buffalo..no horses etc... as they are not allowed in other words not halal...the families who does sacrifice are to share 3/4 of the meat with relatives, poor/needy. etc.. and are to keep 1/4 to themselves... this is a way to help the needy and a way of sharing with others...
Eid-milad-un-Nabi
is the celebration for the birth of the last Prohpet Muhammad (PBUH) on this day ppl make different variety of foods and share with the poor.. as well as different ceminars take place and the whole country is decorated with lighting... to celebrate this wonderfull ocassion....
hope this help...
