tears of pain in the pouring rain

She thought of him as strong,a very wrong thought
and through their years they fought and found fault
she thought of his as cold and not very bold
but he was neither but just born old

sadly they fought when it was always raining
and hardly fought when it was bright and sunny
she always left him sad and lonely
she always left him with tears of pain
and they flowed entwined salt and sweet

she walked away thinking he was cold as ice
never smiles and a soul that is unfeeling and not very nice
yet he cried tears of his lonely fears
they fell on his cheeks and she saw only the rain
and never did she see his broken heart and pain

one day she had enough of his silences
one day she decided that she would leave
she left him again broken and bruised
she left him standing in the rain
and she walked on and on
but something told her to turn back
something whispered kiss him one last time
she came, she stood and brought his lips to hers
she kissed them softly,a tender and goodbye kiss
and then she tasted the salt of his tears
she kissed the fears of his soul and broken heart
and they stood in the rain, both in pain

she looked and whispered you cry,you can cry
and he whispered always,always
but the rain washes away my tears

Who or what are you?

The team of Chakravuyh waited as they watched Rudran and Prime minister jagannath mishra come out of the conference room still in conversation about some personal matter.

The Prime minister looked at all of them " all the best gentlemen.Do what you have to do and please don't hesitate to call me when ever you need to talk to me" and left the team members to their plans and worries

General.veer singh looked at rudran " Okay, your flight to Thailand is booked and it is the last flight out from delhi and it is at 11.00 p.m."

He then looked at all of them " right guys, lets take a break and meet again in an hours time.We need to be sure what we are going to do and how we are going to about this and it all has be done right now."

Rudran took out his mobile and was about to call Renuka when he saw dr.Otto hauptman coming towards him.Placing the mobile back in his pocket,he greeted the doctor and asked him if he wanted to join him for a quick lunch and catch up on the latest goings on.

Dr.otto nodded ok and Rudran took him to one of the exclusive offices that were used by Chakravuyh and after asking the doctor to be seated requested one of the secretaries assigned to them to quickly organise some lunch for two.

Then he halted her " rotis, butter chicken,a bowl of vegetable salad should do just fine and if possible some fruit too.And please a flask of coffee.Thank you."

Dr.otto hauptman and rudran looked at each other and smiled as old friends do and specially ones who share a unique trust and bond that could never be broken or betrayed.

" Rudran, how are the headaches.what about those bouts of losing time that you had mentioned during our sessions back in Jerusalem."

" The headaches have stopped and so too the those brief memory losses although they do pop up once in a while. But then that too is a very rare thing and hardly worth talking about for they last for a few brief moments."

Dr.otto placed a thick folder that had been on his lap on the table that they both sat at and smiled which led rudran to ask him for the reason of his smile.

" I smiled because you never fail to disappoint me.When i placed the folder that i was carrying on the table in front of us,i can safely state that ten out of ten people's eyes would have strayed to it,even if it was for just a very brief moment and yet yours didn't.I wonder why that is."

Rudran leaned back and looked deeply into the doctor's eyes " Oh,oh,the good doctor is not here to play chess and share lunch with me but is on his own secret and private mission.Come now,out with it for you know you can ask me anything and about everything except topics regarding my nations security."

Then Rudran leaned forward " Hold the thought doc for i have an important call to make and once that is done we can talk without any interruptions.ok."

He called renu and once she answered it whispered softly " Renu, all well.I am sorry that i couldn't talk earlier for things are crazy here right now."

Dr.otto watched rudran listen and then whisper again " I am sorry to disappoint you.I know i told you i would be back in a few days but i think i might have to stay on a bit longer than that and only a after a couple of days i will be in a position to tell you with certainty when we will be together again."

" Sorry,i am really sorry but i have to go now. Please take care of your self and i will call you again later in the night.bye.I love you."

Dr.otto hauptman with a big smile on his face " you have met somebody and it is obvious that this person means a lot to you."

Rudran nodded " Yes,she means the world to me."

" Do you know how young you look now that you are in love for i just a saw a very different man than the one i first met and knew. But there is more for you look very different from the man i knew back in Israel.I don't know what it is but there is some kind of energetic aura around you, more than before and yet very different."

Rudran laughed loudly " Dr.otto, you and your mind games about energy, aura and different. Please,i am the same person that you know and as for me i don't feel any difference. Now just come out with what you really want to talk to me about."

Dr.otto opened the folder and after turning a few pages in it,looked up at rudran who could see the strange and confused look in the doctors face " what is it doctor? what are you looking at in that folder and why this confused look on your face?"

Dr.otto went back to turning the pages and then suddenly closing it looked again at rudran " Do you remember that MRI scan that you had done by me and my team when you came out of your coma?"

Rudran nodded yes and tilted his head a bit as if asking dr.otto to go on and the doctor did.

" Rudran, you were shot nearly eight times during that rescue mission of the UN peace keepers and with all that bullets in you, bleeding to death you single handedly shot and killed twenty of those terrorists and then waited until your back up team came and rescued you. Then you fell unconscious and slipped away into a deep coma and did not wake up for nearly three days. But what is really remarkable is that your wounds healed faster than it should have done and what is even more remarkable is that while you were in coma,a MRI scan was attempted,i repeat attempted to see if your brain was injured in any way but it did not work out."

Rudran leaned forward " wait just a minute doctor.what do you mean an MRI scan was attempted and that it failed.I remember that MRI scan very well and i remember very well you saying that there was nothing wrong with my brain and that i was perfectly okay."

DSr.otto, slightly worried ' sorry rudran,i meant the MRI scan that was done while you were in a coma and that was the scan that failed.I am sorry that i did not inform you of that failed attempt."

Suddenly the room felt a bit warm and as if electrically charged and rudran slightly tensed " dr.otto, what do you mean when you say that an earlier attempt of an MRI scan failed. Why? was there something wrong with the machine."

Doctor otto sadly shook his head " no,there was nothing wrong with the machine and it worked just fine.It just did not work on you."

" What do you mean it did not work on me? why wouldn't it work on me?"

Dr.otto " well,i have pondered over that very question and have concluded that you are the answer."

Both of them sat in silence as both their minds tried to make sense and come up with a probable answer that could make sense to both of them.

" Doctor, while that failed attempt of the MRI scan on me while i was in a coma, did you try scanning any other subject, just to make sure if the machine was working well."

Dr.Otto " Rudran, how many subjects would justify that doubt of yours?"

" One or two would be enough to see if the machine was working."

" Not one or two rudran but seven.I tested seven of my research team with that MRI scan machine and it worked perfectly well and yet it just didn't work on you."

Rudran with a smile on his lips " wow, doc. This is really weird and a bit creepy. But i am sorry for i have no explanation for this mysterious glitch of your machine. Is that all or is there more of this funny and creepy revelations."

Dr.Otto " That was nothing for this next bit of information beats that hands down.We talked about the MRI scan that was done while you were awake and i concluded that you were perfectly well. But do you remember anything from that day."

" Of course,i remember that day and every moment of that scan.I lay there, telling you i was perfectly fine and yet you subjected me to your tests.I also remember that you went into the cabin where the operator sat, came out and then went in again with a curious or rather surprised expression and finally came out with a very confused and tired look.I would have asked you what the problem was but i just wanted to get the heck out of there and didn't feel very comfortable in that claustrophobic machine. So,what does that scan got to do with this conversation."

" Everything Rudran, for though the machine worked well and we did scan your brain for any clots or trauma from the gun shots, the scan was a failure."

Rudran felt a tingle in his spine, heard a primitive whisper in his head and he became still and waited for dr.otto to continue.but the man was good at chess too and waited for rudran's question.

Rudran gave in " what do you mean by that scan was a failure too?"

Dr.Otto opened the folder and pushed it towards Rudran " see for yourself."

Rudran went through the folder and then came to the scans of his brain. His PHD background in Psychology and his PHD in criminal psychology immediately told him that the scans were faulty for where the scan must have ordinarily revealed the insides of a brain from all angles, there was just darkness,a black mist covering the brain of his and which could not be penetrated by the powerful MRI machine.

Fear, worry gripped his heart and it filled his eyes and Rudran hurriedly looked up at Dr.otto " i don't understand.these scans just don't make sense.I would understand if there was a large tumor obstructing,in which case the subject wouldn't be alive to speak of.But there is only darkness shrouding these images of my head. Why?"

Dr.otto shook his head " I don't know Rudran. The scanning machine that we have is one of the most advanced in the world.Researchers at our Hospital for Special Surgery developed a specially sequenced, contrast-enhanced MRI to identify potential problems so doctors can intervene early and prevent further damage to bones and joints of patients who have hip, knees and shoulder replacements and also patients who have metal screws in their bodies. This MRI greatly improves the visualization of bone and soft tissue when there is metal in a joint, such as the screws used to repair a hip fracture and so not even metal is invisible to it and yet the same machine could not scan your brain."

I am sorry that there have been delays in posting new chapters of Redemption. Please accept my apologies for the circumstances have been a bit trying and furthermore the last few chapters required a bit of information gathering on satellites and other medical equipment.I know that sometimes the content gets a bit technical bu trust me for i write them in the hope that you will understand and recognise the importance of such technical stuff starting with Icarus the drone in one of the earliest chapters.

For me who wrote and shared stories about AZHAGAN and the 12th century south india,it would be easy to avoid tech lingo and jargon but i dont do so for i want you to share what i feel and think.

I realise now that some of my posts, poems and thoughts are sad, depressing and frustrating but then don't we all share the same moods and emotions and dont we all cry when we lose someone and when we are sometimes lost and lonely.

i request all of you to treat me and see me as just an ordinary man who write outlandish stuff and atrocious stories but always i remain a normal.mundane and boring man who is just more talkative and expressive than the majority.

Love, loss, death, sadness, tears, loneliness are the properties that belong to all of us.

It belongs to AZHAGAN,RUDRAN and all of us.

See you soon with more chapters and more of me.

Lots of love and i wish you all the best.

Comings and goings

The combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce a pleasing effect and in this context of my words the notes are the body and the mind and something mysterious called the soul.

As you get older, one learns to become more patient, less confrontational, withdrawn and generally makes do with what is around him and in him.But the constant war between a body and a mind is a quiet, secretive and deadly war that takes a toll on him.One turns pitifully to others for a better understanding, better knowledge and they turn to others thoughts simply to make sense of it all.

It is an ancient, tiring and frustrating question that goes like " why,why me,where are we going, why are we here and what is the purpose of it all?"

The majority of the people are either innocent, naive or just too scared to ask these questions and then there are those who just don't have the time to ask these questions because they have a cross to carry and a mountain to climb. They have mouths to feed and souls to protect and they take pride in that effort and go on and on.

You will be surprised by the inputs and personal insights of the few that i have dared to pose these questions.

Living past 80 is good and living past 90 is really good and then you have the rare few who have crossed 100 and i have had the privilege of interacting with one such person and his name is Subramaniam.

I first met mr.subramaniam during my walks around Besantnagar and the nods of recognition turned to acknowledgement and then they gradually turned to hellos, byes and how are you's.The very first time i sat myself next to him was near the Aavin booth near my current house and i sat to empty my shoes of the sand that had filled them.I had been away for a few days from the city for a shoot and this absence prompted him to ask me if i was okay and doing well. And with that off we went, diving into a conversation and over the course of a few weeks i learnt he was 97 and going strong and still managing a slow 5km walk, all on his own.

He has worked for the railways and he had lost his wife when he was in his late 30's.He was living with his son venktadri a retired central government employee who had held various distinguished positions in finance, imports, revenue and customs.

Then a few months later,i had to shift and i got a flat for rent in the very next building as mr.subramaniam and soon it was regular visits to my new neighbours house and it made it easy that they were following my tv career.when i did not see the old man for a few days,i would go and enquire and ask him why he had been missing.

One day he looked at me " i am bored of living.there is nothing left to do or anything i crave or need for me to go on.I don't know why my god is not taking me away from here."

Satish, the confused soul who can give advice to others and yet finds it difficult to follow it himself looked at the ceiling and then at the tiled floor searching for a briliant answer and then found one " I feel the same way too, subramaniam. But i am too much of a coward to end it and so i plod on,flog myself on and am just existing."

Subramanaim looked at me " You and me and can you imagine how many more feel the same way.why do you think that is?"

Satish looked at subramanaim " Maybe they feel no motivation to exist on this plane?"

" But you are famous.you have a beautiful and loving wife.you have a career and you have so much energy."

As the years and time flowed past life, there were days when i would not be able to spot subramaniam maama and coming back from my run or gym,i used to pop in and find out why and how the old man was faring.

But then i again shifted my house in jan 2013 and that kind of made it difficult for me to meet up not only with subramanaiam but my other beach friends, old and young alike.

But meet we did although not as frequently as before when we shared the same compound and then his health started flailing and he was 102.

Imagine that, you health finally giving up at 102 and you limit your walks to only in the evenings.

A few months ago,on my way back from the Adyar Padmanabhaswamy kovil,i dropped in and spent time with subramaniam and although his voice was a mere squeak,we conversed and i asked him not to give up and he asked me why and as usual i had no answer.

Then Seshadri who had fought leukemia for so long finally succumbed to it and passed away and as his spirit passed on from his disease ridden body,i was in venkets place drinking some exotic japanese beer and generally making a fool of myself, when i got the message informing me of his death.

But i have written about this and you will wonder why again satish, why torment us again. But hold on for there is an end to this tale.

Two days after seshadri passed on,i met subramaniam's daughter-in-law whom i call amma early in the morning on the beach road. Now here is a woman who is nearly 80 and she walks for an hour or more, cooks three times a day and also takes tutions.I rest my case.

Anyway, she stopped,i stopped and we looked at each other for it had been a month since the last time i had been to their house where 80,84 and 106 lived on the 33rd cross street. That last time had been the time when she had complained to me about subramaniam maama and the tantrums he was throwing. She told me that he was refusing to eat and was starving himself.

I or anyone else for that matter can and i did nod wisely and told her" be patient,he is old,he is on his final path" and she out of frustration gave me a scolding which i knew and understood was not intentional and i quietly left.

so we bumped in on the darkness of the morning routes we took and she with tears in her eyes apologised for being rude and i said " come on amma.i understand how much you are going through. You are a diabetic who is on insulin and since being staunch brahmins, have to cook for your husband does not like outside food and you do so much more.so it is okay."

We went out ways with our friendship renewed and i went my way thinking " che ennada ulagam ithu.Seshadri wanted to live and fought so desperately and yet he died and he was just 60 and here is a man who is 106 and wants to die and is not dying. Here is a centurion who was widowed when he was just 40 and has been a widower for nearly 66 years and here is seshadri and his loving wife and family on the other side who want more time and did not get any.sad.

I conclude with this bit of news that subramaniam maama finally passed on last thursday in the early hours of morning and he died in his one bed and peacefully.

I was sitting in the fast track car and on my way to the Egmore railway station when mr.venkatadri called and informed me and my reply was " why didnt you call me in the morning for i could have paid my respects and i could have joined you for the final rites in the crematorium."

Both 80 and 84 said, mumbled, fumbled that everything was so confusing and that they did not want to keep the body for long in the house and so things happened. They told me 26th of this month was the ceremony day and they wanted me to join them for lunch and i said ok,i will try.

Well, that ends the tale of seshadri and subramaniam and the tale of live and die.

I remain as always deeply amused, terribly confused and eternally curious about what this whole trip called life is all about.

REDEMPTION -132

Dr.otto watched and listened as Rudran spoke to his superior Gen.veer singh " i am in the cabin having lunch with the doctor.Right, okay, will be there in half an hour."

Rudran placed his mobile back on the table and hurriedly went about finishing the lunch for he knew at the rate things were moving forward it would be some time before he could sit and eat in peace and leave alone catch a few hours of refreshing sleep.

" So rudran, are you going to just eat and run off to your meeting and pretend that we both did not have a weird and vague conversation or are you going to face the situation."

Rudran smiled and chewing on the salad looked at dr.otto " doc,i seriously have no reaction to what you have just revealed to me and if you really want to know my opinion, then i have two of them. One is that the MRI machine is faulty and the other is that i must have some kind of growth inside my skull which probably is what is causing all these problems. But then if it is a growth i wouldn't be sitting here, alive, well and talking sense to you for i should either be dead or hooked up to machines pumping chemo and dazzling my body with radiation. For now that is all i can tell you or react to your revelations.

But forget my thoughts on this weird scans and tell me what you think of all this.Maybe your opinions will make more sense since you are qualified and are a world renowned authority in the field of Neurosciences and the intricate workings of the human brain."

Dr.otto gently wiping his mouth with a napkin " Rudran,i personally have no clue for nothing makes sense. But what would definitely make sense would be if i could maybe look more intimately into your head."

" wait a minute, inside my head.you mean drill into my skull and see for yourself with your own eyes what lies beneath my thick skull.you are not joking are you.And all this because of some faulty scans. No way doctor."

Dr.otto shrugged "well it was just a thought and i admit a silly one at that. But rudy,i want you to promise me this, that if your headaches get worse and if you start to lose time or memory lapses you will get checked up and also immediately contact me.Please promise me that."

Rudran nodded " i promise you.If my headaches should get worse,i will fly over and hand myself to your care and expertise, for i know you and trust you."

Then getting up,he shook hands with dr.otto " i have to go for the boss and the rest of the team are probably waiting for me.What about you?"

Dr.otto " i should be getting back to my consulate and report on what is happening for my people need to know what is coming towards us and probably prepare for it in advance.God help us all for if this threat is as bad as it sounds, then we just could be looking at the extinction of humankind or in the least a complete breakdown of civilization as we know."

Rudran " no,it won't come to that. Not on my watch and not while i still have time to do something about it."

Rudran left and quickly walked through nearly half a km of corridors and came up to the office of Chakravuyh, although the board just declared innocently " Board for Human resources and services " which never failed to amuse him.

If anyone should walk in to the office accidentally, they would find a small room with three middle aged secretaries hard at work, typing, reading and correcting but then they would retreat or be sent away by gruff and irritated stares and never know what lay behind the door that looked like the entrance to a bathroom.

Rudran opened the door and then punched in a security code on the keypad and the metal door swung open allowing him into a small room in which stood two armed men from an unknown elite commando force and they immediately stood straight and saluted rudran for he was their commander and trainer.

But then they watched him as he placed his eye in the retinal scan and it flashed green and then he whispered " Rudran" into the voice activation pad and only then did the Bullet proof glass door open and allow him entry.
But to the world outside, this secret place was unknown and will never be known.

This was one of the most important places among the many that lay hidden all over the country and they were the nerve centers of the Indian security and spy network. Many lives who posed a threat that was known and unknown were sent to their graves from orders that stemmed from this place.

This was a place,a wall that kept India safe from harm and from war.Hundreds, thousands of patriots had willingly laid down their lives in daring, secretive missions and their names were whispered with respect in these halls and their faces adorned the walls among these corridors, reminding everyone what was at stake.

Rudran stood still in front of one particular wall, which had ten men and three women's faces smiling out from the photos and bending his head in respect, whispered " Wish me luck and save a place for me among you for i know one day i will join you all on these walls.Stand by me as i go to wage war and rain death on those who dare to rise against us.Grant me Redemption my fellow comrades.Jai hind."

Gen.veer singh watched silently as rudran stood in respect before that particular wall for only a few knew what had happened to that team who had all been killed while on a secret mission near Nepal-Chinese border.Only a few knew that Rudran had hunted down those who had betrayed them and although two years had passed, the memory still haunted him.Rudran was supposed to have been on that mission but in the last moment had to leave on another assignment to Malaysia.Maybe, just maybe things might have been different if he had been there.God only knew but Rudran believed he could have saved all of those who had died.

Rudran walked towards Gen.veer singh " sir.'

" What was all that with DR.otto.Is everything okay?"

Rudran smiled " dr.otto and his worries and doubts. He was just following up on my old wounds during that incident in the gulf where i rescued the UN peacekeepers.I told him i was fine but he wants me to go for a thorough physical checkup and if he is still here when i come back,i plan to do just that."

Gen.Veer singh " I am worried rudran.Tackling soldiers, terrorists and taking on the latest weapons is one thing but fighting against a invisible virus and that too which kills as fast as these mutated strains is downright scary."

Rudran looked at gen.veer " sir,i hope it does not come to that.We will know in a couple of days where we stand and what level is this threat of bio-terrorism that is being readied."

Both went in to the cabin and sat down with the rest of the team and plans were drawn and moves were planned.

Somebody jokingly called their plan Mission Thailand but only Rudran knew it was Mission Murky.

A few hours later Rudran was in his flat showering and washing the days grime and tiredness away and his mobile rang and he knew it was Renu calling.

Wrapping a towel around his waist and dripping water across the tiles,he picked up and answered " Hey,i was just going to call you, once i reached the airport. But you beat me to it."

Renu yelled in joy " Airport, wow,so you are coming back tonight. It is nearly 8.00 pm and i guess you will be in chennai by midnight and i will drop in first thing tomorrow morning.Great news."

It broke rudran's heart to disappoint her " Renu, sorry.I am really sorry but when i mentioned the airport,it did not mean i am coming to chennai but that i am flying out somewhere else.I am sorry sweetheart."

Renu fell silent " When are you coming back to chennai?"

" Honestly,at this moment i have no clue but i am hoping in a few days time."

Silence filled the line and renu whispered " Is it always going to be like this?"

Rudran sighed ' renu, you know what i do and who i am.You also know how much i love you and there is nothing more in this world i would rather do than leave you alone. But my work is like that and you have a certain clue as to what i do and the people i deal with."

" That is what scares me the most. Now more than ever,i worry about what might happen to you."

Rudran calmly " nothing is going to happen to me and i will be back in a few days.Promise."

Renu laughed " yes.nothing can happen to you for i have seen that with my own eyes.I love you too.Go get him my tiger and come back safely and come back soon."

Renu ended the call and stood in the darkness of her room and whispered a prayer " God,watch over him.Keep him safe and let no hurt fall on him.Whatever pain, hurt and troubles that are for him, give them to me and i will bear them with a smile. But bring him back safely for he means more to me than my own life."

It's the song that just keeps playing on the radio
And you know I haven't seen you for a while
I lie awake at night
And wonder how you are
And I wish that I could see you again

But I'll be here where the heart
When the dreams that we've been after
All come true
You will find me here where the heart is
I'll wait for you
I'll wait for you

And in between
And when I need to see you again
All I have to do
Is close my eyes
Oh the picture's coming in my friend
I'll hold you again
But until then

I'll be here where the heart is
When the dreams that we've been after
All come true
You will find me here where the heart is
I'll wait for you
I'll wait for you

Arjuna once asked Krishna, " Lord, why do people consider Karna more generous than Yudhistara? Neither have ever refused whatever has been asked for nor whoever has asked. So why is Karna considered greater than Yudhistara?"*

*The Lord said with a smile, "Come, I'll show you why."*

*Disguised as brahmins, they first went to Yudhishtira's court and asked for sandalwood sticks to conduct 'yagna'. The king immediately sent his soldiers to all parts of his Kingdom in search of sandalwood sticks. It was monsoon, the trees were all drenched and the soldiers returned with wet sandalwood pieces. Yagna was not possible with the wet sticks.*

*Krishna and Arjuna* *proceeded to Karna's court next and asked for the same sticks. Karna thought for a while and said " as it's raining for several days now, it will be impossible to collect dry sandalwood sticks. But there is a way. Please wait for a while."*
*Saying this, Karna proceeded to chop and cut down the doors and windows of the court which were made of sandalwood and after making them into pieces, gifted the dry* *sandalwood sticks to the* *brahmins to conduct 'yagna'.*
*They accepted the offerings and went back. On their way back, Krishna asked Arjuna "do you realise the difference between the two, Arjuna? Had we asked* *Yudhishtira to give his doors and windows for us to conduct yagna, he would have given us without a second thought. But he did not think of it himself. We did not ask Karna either. Yudhishtira gave because that was his dharma. Karna gave because he loves to give. This is the difference between the two and that is why Karna is considered greater. Whatever work you do, it becomes nobler* *when you do it with love.*"

"(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"

Satisfaction,Perfection,True love and yes a God one can see are all proverbial myths, the magical unicorn.

And now add films to that list and a film that can satisfy one and all.

Kabali-Maapu vachutayaan Aapu

The Teaser promo of Kabali has touched and probably crossed 26 millions hits and if all the Hype and chest thumpings were to be believed, then here was a film that would beat all records in Kollywood,Tollywood,Sandalwood and Mollywood and set a new benchmark for a dubbed film in Bollywood too.

But the need of the hour at least in India is that almost everyone wants his opinion to be heard, accepted, acknowledged and taken as a mantra.Toms,Dicks,Harrys and pricks all included take to youtube, twitted, whatsapp and other public forums available to them on the Net and unload their frustrations and anger that has nothing to do with the subject they are talking about and in the end their opinions reflect only their true hatred and unfair judgement.

For example,Sultan which released a few weeks back and which has collected nearly 300 crores in India alone and nearly 500 crores worldwide was ripped by many from the public.

The minute a review from a popular newspaper was posted in Google, you had reviews tearing Salman, his religion, his life into nasty pieces and people abusing him in the worst words one can imagine.

But the film has grossed enough to shut those dirty traps of those who posted gross comments.

Now they are doing it with Kabali and i hope the film goes the Sultan way and makes lot of money and shuts up those who are tearing it to pieces on all platforms in various guises.

Satisfaction and importantly how do you satisfy one and all who come to the theater to watch his favourite heros film.

Right now the popular formula is special mixture like the one you get in our favourite sweet stalls.

Grand opening, punch dialogues, romance, fights, konjam sexy songs ( note with lot of navels involved),Amma.appa sentiment, then profess your faith in the tamil people, comedy with a popular comedian and in the end beat the shit out of everyone you can see and in the process beat the shit out of the public leaving them numb and braindead.

So rajini tried to do something different and teamed with a new director and well people are screaming, boring, too much emotion, dragging.

Action,stylu,punch dialogues kudutha bore,same formula.Okay,konjam story,emotion,acting kudutha aiyo boring,dragging.

Appo ungalukku enna thaan venum solungada.

Now think of all the producers and directors and imagine what they must be thinking and wondering for right now there is no successful formula for a hit film.Hype works and is good but also works against you.

Thalaiva, puli, uttama villain,Thoongavanam, linga,Kochidayaan were all released with great hype and they bit the dust. All the hype did not translate into big bucks for the film did not match up in the end to the expectations of the audience.

In the end the audience Giveth,Maketh and Taketh away.

In the trains womb

March 2010 was the last time i had traveled by train and that particular journey was for Club Mahindra shoot in coorg and we traveled by Shatapti express from chennai to mysore and by car from there to Coorg.

Now nearly 6 years later, i got to travel by a train thrice in a span of two weeks. To Virudhunagar for a shoot and now to bangalore and back by the same shatapti express.Like in a plane, i like to sit near the window when i am in a train and unlike a night journey, the AC-CHAIR car of a Shatapti gives you a beautiful and large screen view of the outside world as it whizzes by.

Like then,i saw tiny tots and forms stand up and wave their hands, wishing us Bon voyage and probably wishing they too were in the train, traveling escaping from their lives and prisons they are trapped in.At least that is how i feel, felt and still do sometimes.

The overnight journey from was made truly memorable by that one and a quarter hour, when it took the train to travel from Madurai in the early hours of 3.00 and 4.15 a.m to virudhunagar.I was told that the Nagercoil express stops for only two minutes before escaping from its own prison and thats all the time i had to get down with my two pieces of luggage and so my clock kept waking me from 2.00 as it always does in these occasions.

So,fully awake, alert, constantly checking my watch i got up from my lower berth and stood, stretched and looked down at that coffin space as if i was looking back at the womb of my mother from whose darkness and prison i had gotten freedom from and opened the door and stood as the train rolled on to its own, mystical and beautiful beat that changed as it went over bridges.

The inside of the train was dark and everyone lay fast asleep in different states of snoring and some roared and some whimpered their dreams in pip squeaks and yelps. The train shook sideways as if trying to give birth and unload its passengers and fell strangely quiet when ever another train passed by and i wonder if they said hiii and byeee as they raced past each other.

Dressed in white and white kurta and pyjama,i stood in the darkness of the train and in the darkness that surrounded the land in which it rolled on.

But the white twinkling stars, scattered as diamonds gave me company and i stood humming

" gadi bula rahi hai, siti baja rahi hai
gadi bula rahi hai, siti baja rahi hai
chalnaa hi zindagi hai, chalti hi jaa rahi hai
gadi bula rahi hai, siti baja rahi hai

The nagercoil express danced, shook, sang to me and for me and i spent the entire time in the door as if it was some gateway to escape from this planet to another realm in the stars.

A gentle nod and a huge, tough looking cop warned me to be careful and i said okay and then he asked me if he could take a selfie with me and i said okay and off he went, leaving me to think that i too am a kutty star among trillions of other brighter stars and the train kept rolling and i kept dreaming.

REDEMPTION -133

Rudran sat in the back of the government vehicle and watched delhi whiz by as it lay in the grasp of Neon hoardings and the darkness of the night.Just a little time ago,it was on this kind of night that he had left delhi and had flown to chennai but this night and that night were so different and even he felt different.

And the main difference was Renuka who now filled his life and soul.He had seen and heard people talk about love and their lives with their wives and children and wondered what it was all about and now he was head over heels in this very primitive emotion and though his razor sharp brain told him it was all biology, his soul told him it was much more.He had never thought he would feel for someone what he felt for his dead brother but here he was and knew that if push came to shove he would lay his life down for his love. His lips stretched in a smile and was brought out of his thoughts by the vehicle driver " mahoday, aap pyaar mein hain."

Rudran nodded " haan, main pyaar mein hoon aur yah achchha lagata hai."

He looked at his watch and it showed 9.00 pm and though you need to check in three hours earlier for an international flight,Rudran did not worry about it for a phone call had been made and orders given and the security chief of the airport would be waiting for him and to assist him in any way possible and boarding the flight was the least of his worries.

His thoughts were about Thailand for it lay under Military rule and had been so for a few years now.Things happened differently when under Military rule for people who aroused suspicion were detained without cause and interrogated pretty severely and so he knew he had to be on constant guard until this assignment was over.

Thailand is currently under the strictest military regime the country has seen since the early 1970s, an era when China-backed communist guerrillas threatened to overthrow the established monarchy-military symbiotic order. Despite rising controversy surrounding the current National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) junta's heavy-handed rule, it's a military regime that will likely remain in power for the foreseeable future.

To understand the present and project into the future, it's important to understand Thailand's recent past. The 2014 military coup marked the crescendo of anti-government street convulsions, staged initially against an amnesty bill that would have paved the way for the criminally convicted self-exiled former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to return to Thailand a free man under his younger sister Yingluck Shinawatra's elected government.

Since seizing power, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha's junta has advanced reform rhetoric while simultaneously consolidating a strong and increasingly efficient police state bent on ferreting out and squashing dissent. Crackdowns on journalists and activists have become progressively more severe, including the recent commando-style abduction and physical beating in an open field of an anti-junta student activist. It has also ramped up punitive anti-royal charges against both critics of the crown and anti-military opponents.

The vow to restore democratic governance and hold new elections is and remains a sop to Western governments, namely the European Union and the United States, as well as certain local middle class constituencies who support the country's long and painful struggle for democracy over military-led authoritarianism. The junta's time table for new polls has been progressively pushed back, first promised for late 2015, then mid-2016 and now mid to late 2017.

Chennai

Police commissioner Rakesh menon was talking to his wife Sharadha when the Sub Inspector in charge of security of his house announced that a man and woman had arrived and were waiting for him outside.

Rakesh stood up with a huge smile and practically ran towards the gate for he wanted to personally greet the children of the warrior who had laid his life to protect him.

The gate opened and in walked Arul and Jothi, the children of Malar and Rakesh greeted them pleasantly and then gently hugged them and welcomed both of them into his house.

Both with a calm smile on their faces seated themselves and Rakesh sat in front of them not knowing what to say to them for he was caught up in a storm of emotions.

" I am so happy that you accepted my request and made time to come and see me and my wife.Dinner is ready and if you are hungry we can eat first and probably talk later."

Jothi " I think dinner can wait for we had a late lunch and i myself am not very hungry right now."

Arul looked at both rakesh and sharadha " our queen and mother sends her greetings and wishes to both of you."

Rakesh humbly " thank you and please convey my wishes to her and to the entire clan."

An awkward silence filled the air for rakesh did not know what to say but his eyes filled with tears and just as he was about to say something,he felt the gentle but strong hand of Arul touch his " Sir,it is okay.We understand how you feel and we feel the same way about you and what you did for us.Our clan will be forever in your debt and we will be with you when you need us."

Tears filled rakesh's eyes " children, your father is not dead for he lives in me.Please remember this always and never forget that you have a father in me.I have no other words to say but this."

Arul and Jothi were stunned and moved by this statement of Rakesh menon and were lost for words.

Jothi whispered " Now i know why our father laid down his life for you and now i know why my mother speaks so highly about you.Thank you for your love and thank you for this friendship. It means a lot to us and our clan."

Rakesh smiled " so what brings you both here now to this city."

Arul looked at Jothi " We are here to guard and protect the king and queen and our prince."

The Air India flight to Thailand, suvarnabhumi airport took off from Indira gandhi airport on time and soon Rudran would leave darkness and enter into the light of the sun.

Thailand is three hours ahead of India and the flight time was four hours and so rudran would reach Bangkok at about 7.00 am in the morning.

Deep in the forests of the Thai jungle, the monk opened his eyes and looked up at the statue " He is coming. Our saviour is finally coming. The wait is over."

The boy who went into the dark and came back with light.
