Gujju

A man approached a Gujarati in Ahmadabad Railway Station.

"Sir, I have lost my purse and all my money in it. I need 150 for rail ticket and another 50 for the bus fare to reach home. Will you help me?

Gujju gave this brilliant suggestion.

"Does your family have a mobile phone?
"Yes sir!"
"Take my mobile. Call your family. Give my mobile number. Ask them to recharge 200 for my phone. Take 200 from me after that."

Can anyone beat a Gujju in business sense?

MAMAs Gyan

Dear Ravana...Every year, on this day, we celebrate the victory of good over evil...But..technically...your behaviour should be re-classified from "Evil" to "Slightly Naughty". After all, tumne kiya hi kya thha? I agree you kidnapped a lady in haste... But.. after that...you gave her more respect we normally give to women in today's world. You offered her good food...shelter...and even women security guards (not too good looking though). Your request for marriage was full of humility..and you never threw acids when rejected. Even when Lord Rama killed you... you were wise enough to seek his apologies. And...I believe you were more educated than half of our Parliament. Trust me dude...there ain't no any hard feelings to burn you... just that it's the In-Thing.

The october sun is small on the horizon
It keeps missing its attendance call
Flocks of birds numbering 5 or 6 fly
quietly in the morning sky which is neither
blue,black or grey
just like that age when we are neither
child,boy,man
Skeletons of wood which were once large boats
lie scattered on the sandy and dirty beach
what about the skeletons of them who rowed, sailed and fished
what about the skeletons of all the fish and crabs
Just wisps of clouds hang low on the horizon
and yet the lazy sun manages to hide behind it
I whisper come out, come out and shine orange, shine light
Like a sleepy and reluctant child who is asked to sing and dance
and perform before strangers who come home
the sun comes and he overpowers the crap camera on my mobile
and says, see you cannot capture me,that is why i stayed behind
th clouds,so you can shoot and get likes on your facebook

This article was forwarded to me by my dear friend Seshadri who is fighting advanced leukemia. We became friends after we met on the beach and it has been five years to date.He piles my yahoo inbox with mails and although sometimes a bit overwhelming i sift, shift and find some gems.

Here is one that i want to share with you all for it was beautiful to read and left me feeling beautiful and amazed.

I sometimes wish i was born thousands of years back when life was simple and innocent.

The Beautiful Book

Countless books have been authored since creation, by countless
worthies, dealing with practically every subject under the Sun. And to
each of these books, its author, with parental pride, has given a
name, which he or she thought suited it best. To each author, his
creation, however insignificant it may appear to others, is indeed a
magnum opus deserving of appreciation and acclaim. However, none has
considered his or her book fit enough to be called "The Beautiful
Book". You must have read any number of books"have you come across one
titled simply "The Beautiful Book" There is indeed one, for which the
venerated author couldn't think of any other name than the beautiful
one mentioned above. Looked at from any angle, it appeared so fine and
striking to him, that try as he might, he couldn't come up with any
other title, which suited the work to a "T". Irrespective of what
impressive names we might give our children, it is their character,
conduct and comportment that ultimately give their names popular
acceptance"if a dunce carries the name "VivEkAnandan", in course of
time, people would coin for him nickname which indicates his true
colours, rather than call him by the given name. So too is the case of
any name. That the author-given name of "The Beautiful Book" (for the
work we talked about) has gained popular acceptance too, is indicative
of the book's enchanting and enticing contents.

The "SUNDARA KANDAM" of Srimad Ramayanam carries an extremely apt
name. Sri Valmiki himself was so impressed by its contents that he
could think of no other name for it than the aforesaid. While other
Kandas of the epic have been named after the places where the events
are enacted (AyOdhyA KANdam, AraNya KAndam, KishkindhA KANdam) or
after the nature of happenings (BAla KANdam, Yuddha KANdam), this
particular portion of the saga is simply named "Sundara KANdam".

Does this mean that the other parts of the epic are not beautiful? Why
should this particular KANdam be celebrated as the Sundara KANdam?

Why does this specific KANdam command much greater popularity among
Rama bhaktAs than the other parts of the great saga? And if the
recital of this particular KANdam is traditionally held to be capable
of fulfilling all of one's wishes, what could be the special content
that it has, which puts it head and shoulders above the other portions
of the epic?

While there are several reasons for this part of Valmiki's magnum opus
getting this "beautiful" sobriquet, the principal ones are the
following:-

1. This part of the Epic really contains enthralling descriptions of
several beautiful objects, places and people. Be it the portrayal of
Lanka, of the exalted Pushpaka vimAnam, the AshOka vanikA, the Madhu
vanam or of natural phenomena like the Moonrise, Sri Valmiki excels
himself in painting gripping pen-portraits, with elaborate and
enthralling accounts of flora, fauna, the majesty of nature at its
best, the lure and lustre of Lanka etc. Being a past master at apt
similes, the Maharshi's portrayals often appear to be more glorious
than the objects of their adoration, if such a thing were possible.
Here is a simple sample from the 5th Sarga of this KANda, devoted
mainly to the description of the rising Moon over the city of Lanka.
Observe the lilting metre, the thrilling portrayal, the extremely apt
similes and the cumulative effect of unparalleled prettiness and
picturesqueness the entire scenario presents"

"Tata: sa madhyam gatam amsumantam
JyOtsnA vitAnam mahat udvamantam
Dadarsa dheemAn divi BhAnumantam
GoshttE vrisham mattham iva bhramantam"

The huge Silver Orb in the sky, surrounded by a halo of pleasing
luminance, occupying the centre spot among an admiring audience of
countless stars exhibiting their adulation through constant twinkling,
looked like a virile Bull pacing majestically among admiring cows,
says Sri Valmiki.

Here is a slew of more similes from the facile pen of the Adikavi,
comparing the resplendent Moon glowing in the bewitching night sky, to
a graceful Swan in a silver cage, to a majestic lion inhabiting a
broad cave in the Mandara mountain and to a victorious centurion
ensconced on an imposing elephant"

"HamsO yathA rAjata panjarasttha: simhO yathA Mandara kandarasttha:
VeerO yathA garvita kunjarasttha: ChandrOpi babhrAja tathA ambarasttha:"

What beautiful metre, what incomparable similes, what inimitable portrayals!

Is it any wonder that this forms part of the "Sundara KANdam"? Though
it is extremely tempting to quote one lilting verse after another,
which competes for our attention and adulation, I leave readers to
feast themselves on these gems at their leisure.

However, is it merely due to the gloriously graphic descriptions that
this KANdam is known as the Sundara Kandam, for, equally facile
portrayals are to be found in other parts of the epic too, especially
the accounts of Spring, Autumn and the Monsoon seasons and innumerable
other pen-portraits, of which only Sri Valmiki is capable.

2. This Kandam is almost exclusively about the exploits of an
extremely beautiful person ("Sundara:")"none other than Sri Hanuman.
It is beyond dispute that Sri AnjanEya is extremely handsome, virile
and strikingly attractive. "KAnchanAdri kamanIya vigraham" says the
PArAyaNa slOka, telling us that the VAnara veera possessed glorious
good looks and shone like a veritable Golden Mountain, with his
gigantic physique and commanding personality. When we go through
Sundara KANdam, we find it to be one long and continuous saga of Sri
Hanuman's adventures and exploits, in the service of His Lord and
Master, Sri Rama. The KANda begins with a vivid account of Hanuman's
launch into the long, difficult and hurdle-filled flight across the
ocean to Lanka, a feat none else would even contemplate, leave alone
attempt. What follow are enthralling accounts of the MahAkapi's
rigorous search for Sri Sita, his timely arrival on the scene to
prevent Sri Mythily from taking Her life and to extend assurances of
imminent rescue by Sri Raghava, his vanquishing the minions, ministers
and sons of Ravana in a patently unequal battle, his challenge to the
demoniac king and departure to Kishkindha to convey the good news to
the Prince of Ayodhya, leaving Lanka engulfed in flames.

Thus, from commencement to conclusion, this KANda is verily
monopolised by the "Sundara", Sri Hanuman, who is on centre stage,
throughout.

3. What could be more beautiful than tales of the Lord and accounts of
His handsomeness, valour, majesty, generosity and boundless
compassion? Anything incorporating such a narrative definitely
deserves the name "Beautiful Book". The Sundara Kanda contains several
such descriptions of Sri Raghava's glorious physical and psychological
traits. The 31st Sarga contains a detailed account of the IkshvAku
Vamsam and Sri Rama's glorious guNAs, the 35th a mouth-watering
description of His matchless physical beauty, the 51st again a
narrative of the Prince's valour, prowess and compassion. With the
recurring theme of Bhagavat divya mangaLa vigaraha varNanam and
Bhagavat guNa anubhavam, there is little wonder that this portion of
the epic is known as the Sundara Kanda.

4. Whether it be in physique or in character, could anyone hope to
equal Sri Mythily, the epitome of womanly virtue and seemliness?

She is thus a real "Sundari", beautiful beyond imagination and looking
as if She was put together by the Divine Architect, using up all the
stock of beauty on hand""DEva mAyEva nirmitA". It was a divine beauty,
such as only the Divine Consort could possess. If we come to think of
it, this Kandam devotes a major portion of its content to this
"Sundari", Her travails amidst the rAkshasIs of AshOka vanikA, Her
encounters with the dastardly Ravana, Her compassionate advice even to
Her abductor to perform Sharanagati at the Lord's lotus feet, Her
oscillation between hope and despair, Her meeting with Maruti and the
consequent reassurance gained about imminent rescue by Her beloved and
Her prayers for the safe return of Sri Hanuman to KishkindhA. Though
the entire Srimad Ramayana is but a saga of Sita ("SItAyA's charitam
mahat"), yet the Sundara Kanda brings out the depth of Piratti's
character in all its glory, the glory of gold, which glitters all the
more, when Passed through fire.

To conclude, we can't do better than to enjoy a verse of one of the
erudite commentators on Srimad Ramayana, viz., Tilaka, who, instead of
enumerating the beautiful things in this Kandam, queries us as to what
is there in the Sundara Kanda, which is not Sundaram (beautiful).
Everything about this Kanda is indeed beautiful"

1)the city of Lanka, which forms the picturesque backdrop for the
momentous events of this Kanda,

2)the magnificent story narrated in the Kanda, with its numerous
twists and turns, affording full scope for display of the nava rasAs,

3) the incredible beauty of Sri Janaki Devi, who forms the focal point
of the narrative"

indeed everything about the Sundara Kandam is beautiful beyond
depiction. Here is the beautiful verse from the "Tilakam", a
commentary on the great epic"

"SundarE sundarI LankA, sundarE SundarI kathA
SundarE sundarI SitA sundarE kim na sundaram

SundarE SundarIm SitAm akshatAm MarutE: mukhAt
ShrutvA hrishta: tathaivAstu sa Rama: satatam hridi".

Excellent interpretation of Ramayan !!

Ram is your soul. Sita is your heart. Ravan is your mind that steals your heart from your soul. Lakshman is your consciousness, always with you and active on your behalf. Hanuman is your intuition and courage that helps retrieve your heart to re-animate your soul

A few days ago, Japanese Prime Minister Mori was given some Basic English conversation training before his
visit to Washington to meet President Barack Obama...

The instructor told PM Mori, "When you shake hands with President Obama, please say 'How r u?'
Then Mr. Obama will say, 'I am fine, and you?' Then you should say 'Me too'.
Afterwards, we translators will do the work for you.'

This sounds quite simple, but the truth is...

When Mori met Obama, he mistakenly said 'Who are you?' (instead of 'How r u?')

Mr. Obama was a bit shocked but still managed to react with humor:
'Well, I'm Michelle's husband, ha-ha!'

And Mori replied... 'Me too, ha-ha!'

And, a long silence followed in the meeting room...

A young doctor had moved out to a small community to replace a doctor who was retiring.

The older doctor suggested that the young one accompany him on his rounds,
so the community could become used to a new doctor.

At the first house a woman complains, "I've been a little sick to my stomach."
The older doctor says, "Well, you've probably been overdoing the fresh fruit.
Why not cut back on the amount you've been eating and see if that does the trick?"

As they left, the younger man said, "You didn't even examine that woman?
How'd you come to the diagnosis so quickly?"

"I didn't have to. You noticed I dropped my stethoscope on the floor in there?
When I bent over to pick it up, I noticed a half dozen banana peels in the trash. That was what probably was making her sick."

The younger doctor said "Pretty clever. If you don't mind,I think I'll try that at the next house."

Arriving at the next house, they spent several minutes talking with a younger woman.
She said that she just didn't have the energy she once did and said, "I'm feeling terribly run down lately."

"You've probably been doing too much for the Church," the younger doctor told her.
"Perhaps you should cut back a bit and see if that helps."

As they left, the elder doctor said, "I know that woman well. Your diagnosis is almost certainly correct, she's very active in the church, but how did you arrive at it?"

"I did what you did at the last house.I dropped my stethoscope and when I bent down to retrieve it,I noticed the vicar under the bed."

This is a dedication to life,a small patch of weeds that grow on Besantnagar beach.

EMERALD ON HER BOSOM

Green, yes green the color of life and all that sustains life
Among the brown sands of the beach that carpets your feet and that which
runs up to meet the sea lies a small oasis.
Many a time i have walked and wondered about this patch of green, weed which
hugs the ground and has made the beach its home.
Many a time i have stepped knowing and unknowing but not anymore
Today the green had small pink flowers blooming in its tender limbs
and today the green had visitors, small birds dressed in white and standing on
stilts.
I smiled and sat down and forgot the sun and sea and stared at this small green oasis
that lay like an emerald on the bosom of a dusky woman.
The white visitors bent down, observed, pecked and picked at the weeds
and i marvelled at life and i felt sick as my eyes ran over the beach.
At my feet lay wrappers from burgers,to pastries, bottles that held booze to soft drinks
I saw garlands, coconuts and footwear and i saw many of my species
I saw them laughing and playing with the waves and i laughed and whispered "brutus, thy blade is the sharpest and deepest "

I saw humans full of crap, crapping near the shore and i saw couples lost in love walk past these body matters

Green, yes green is life, the color of life that sustains all life

REDEMPTION-CHAPTER 13

"My argument against God was that the universe seemed so cruel and unjust. But how had I got this idea of just and unjust? A man does not call a line crooked unless he has some idea of a straight line. What was I comparing this universe with when I called it unjust?" ? C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

There are a few times in life when you are called out to stand,to speak and to support the one or the ones you call your friend. It feels righteous,it feels like the right thing to do and yes it is right and fair.Sometimes it just happens that someone you know badmouths someone whom you respect and like a lot and though many would think that each mans opinion is his own,you feel compelled to stand and fight for someone who you know in your soul is a honest person,a person worth fighting for and maybe even dying for.

Enter stage from behind the curtain

Police commissioner mr.Rakesh menon looked calmly at Balaraman " Balaraman,i don't understand your hesitation to answer my question. So,stop wasting my time and tell me what the hell is going on before i lose my temper.I have huge respect for your skills and admire how well you have performed your duty while in service. So,i am going to go into my cabin for ten minutes and when i come back i want an answer explaining this behaviour of yours."

Saying this calmly but with total authority, the commissioner got up from the table and left the conference room through another exit that led to his cabin.

" Bloody hell, what have i got myself into now " thought Balaraman.

A good man, specially a really good police officer puts right, law and justice before himself and his family. In his eyes it is either right or wrong and in the eyes of Balaraman, rudran was a hero who had struck in the name of justice and should be rightfully honored for it.But then rudran's situation was an unknown and one never knew what sensitive assignment he was on.For unlike most of the police dept,he had strong ties with the Intelligence and Defence dept and ministry. And rumors were his connections ran right up to the door of the Prime minister's office.

Balaraman thought " should i call him and tell him what is happening or should i face the commissioner myself. After all they cannot charge me with anything wrong for i have done nothing wrong."

Just as he was thinking all this and not even realising that his ten minutes was up,Balaraman looked up and saw the commissioner enter the conference room.

Police commissioner mr.Rakesh menon took in balaraman's face and read his thoughts " I know,i know that you are going to stick with your answer that you have no idea who called you or why they called you to report the crime, when they could have so easily dialed 100.But that is not an answer i was expecting from you when the whole dept is facing heat from the chief minister herself who wants to know personally every bit of info about his case."

ACP Balaraman cleared his throat and with a sparkle in his eyes looked at his boss " sir, what is this case. Please tell what is this case anyway. It is a case where three women were kidnapped and two girls have been gang raped by three criminals and by an act of miracle, someone has saved the victims and in the process beaten up the criminals and we have luckily managed to arrest them.Rather than saying thanks to whoever did this you are accusing me of not doing my job properly. If you,me and the government were really doing our job properly then women would not attacked on a daily basis in this country. You were right, for i am going to stick to my answer that i have no idea who called me or why they called me.I am sticking to this answer and nothing is going to change it."

Police commissioner mr.Rakesh menon threw his hands in the air " everyone is a martyr here.Balaraman, you are thinking and talking about loyalty and justice while i am thinking and looking at the larger picture.Do you understand the seriousness of the situation the whole dept is in right now.The criminals who you just spoke about are seriously injured and one of them is in a critical condition. What are we supposed to do if he dies and what will we answer to his family or the public if they accuse us and blame us for the violence committed against them.As it is the press scream murder, police brutality at any given opportunity and even if they deserved what they got,can you imagine the public relations disaster we will face when this case details eventually come out.It will be my head on a plate and i will be shifted off to another state and made a scapegoat for everyone's convenience. So,please try to see the larger picture and understand what i am talking about for gods sake."

" Listen, balaraman.I might be just an administrative pawn now, shuffled here and there in the games played between the state and center. But i too spent years in the field solving crimes and handling serious law and order situations. So,believe me when i say that i understand you perfectly well. But i have to give something to the chief minister for whatever ill people talk about her,she does not compromise when it comes to law and order in the state.I am going to give you one last chance for you to think this over or else i will have to start a department level investigation and you know what that means. It means being grilled by the CID division and it also means suspension and ultimately transfer to some hell hole.where after just days you will resign and walk away wondering if you had made the wrong decision.Come and see me in in a couple of hours with an answer or face the consequences."

ACP Balaraman stood up slowly and then stiffly saluted his chief and walked out of the room in a daze.

He walked dejectedly to his jeep and was about to kick it when his mobile rang and he saw it was rudran.

" Hi rudran."

Rudran immediately knew that there was something wrong from the tone of his voice and his incredible mind sped like light " I screwed up didn't i.That call i made to your mobile must have put you right in the eye of the storm."

Balaraman did not know what to say for he was at once amazed at his friends perception and also dejected that the good guys were going to take a beating. Before he could say anything rudran spoke.

" Bala, don't worry for i will take care of it.It will be all right.Listen,i have to make a few calls so forgive me for hanging up so abruptly.Tell you what, let us meet up for a drink and talk things out.I am pretty sure that i would have worked out everything by the time we meet up.so see you later in the night for a drink.bye."

Rudran sighed and then taking a deep breath dialed a number and it was immediately answered " Hello mr.rudran.how are you.?"

Rudran whispered " i am okay.actually i am not okay for i am in a bit of a jam and i need the big man's help. Will it be possible to talk to him right now."

The man on the other side smiled " mr.rudran,he is talking to a couple of ministers right now and they are discussing something really important right now.If i tell him that you are on the line you know what will happen. He will abandon the meeting and spend the rest of the day chatting with you.So please, let him finish the meeting and i will call back immediately.Okay sir."

Rudran said okay and ended the call.He knew the police commissioner was bringing heat on his friends head and knew that he had to act fast and right now.

Retired DSP Shanmugasundaram heard the knock on the door of his cabin and head still bent over the file loudly commanded " come in " and looked up to see his next in command retired inspector Raja pandiyan standing before him.

" sollunga pandiyan.what is it ?"

Raja pandian " sir, there is a gentleman outside who wants to meet the boss right away.He does not have an appointment and yet...'

Shanmugasundarm irritatedly looked at pandiyan " what is this.Someone has come to see the boss and that too without an appointment. You damn well know what the procedure and rules are.ask him to leave and come back after making an appointment through the proper channels.Wants to meet the boss and that too without an appointment.what a joker."

Saying this he went back to the file on the table before him and then suddenly looked up to see pandiyan still standing there.

Pandyan nervously " sir,the gentleman looks like.sorry,i am sure he is from our dept. And frankly speaking he makes me very nervous and i am very sure he is an high ranking police officer.I just felt that it would make sense at least to see what he wants."

Retired DSP Shanmugasundaram the head of security in mr.Kandaswamy mudaliyar's company " SPECTRUM ASSOCIATES " and he was used to people making demands on his employer's time and this was just such a situation. He usually met the people or person who wanted to meet his boss and prudently decided who got and emergency appointment or who did not.But then the final call would be made through his employers personal secretary,Mrs.woodrose who was a tyrant when it came to allotting time with the chief.

Shanmugasundaram nodded and pandiyan left in a hurry. He leaned back and wondered what the fuss was all about for he himself had retired from one of the highest ranking posts in the police dept and as such felt neither obligated or intimidated by other police officers, even if they were still in service. In fact he got more respect now working for Mr.kandaswamy mudaliyar than when he was in the office.Such was the clout and money power his chief's name carried.

His cabin door opened quietly and shanmugasundaram stared at the tall man who walked in confidently and his instincts told him that this was someone special, someone whose very presence demanded full attention.

He did not even realise it but he stood up and put out his right hand and it was taken in firm grip by the gentleman,a grip that spoke immense strength of body and of character.

Shanmugasundaram smiled " pandiyan was right for there is just no disguising our roots and the job we do.But he was wrong about one thing for from the way you move,i can see that you are part of the elite police cadre who have trained with the defence department.am i right? "

Rudran smiled and nodded " just the same, your instincts are intact as is your judgement."

Both men looked at each other and Shanmugasundaram knew instantly that the man was no threat to his chief and he was there for an important reason.

Shanmugasundaram " I know it but still i would like to see your identification."

Rudran took his ID out of his front shirt pocket and leaning across the table handed it over to Shanmugasundaram.

Shanmugasundaram read the details and then sharply looked up "Rudran, why does the name sound so familiar.wait now.ok,i know who you are now.even if you remain in the shadows your feats are spoken about in corridors and cabins of the top rank officials.so,rudran of delhi fame, the man who rescued the ministers daughter in a matter of hours is here sitting before me in person. So,the legend is true and seeing you i realise that you look capable of all that is spoken about you.Rumors have it that you are working with the intelligence dept and the army at the same time.wow,my heart fills with pride on seeing such a illustrious officer in my cabin.Tell me mr.rudran how can i help you.My assistant told me that you wanted to meet the boss urgently.could i know what it is about."

Rudran looked embarrassed and yet he shook his head " sorry sir,but the matter is very sensitive and i would prefer to talk to the man personally."

Shanmugasundaram took a deep breath " ok.let me see what i can do."

He dialled an extension on his telephone " mrs.woodrose,is the boss free.no,it is very important and i need just five minutes.ok.thank you.i will be up in a few seconds."

Shanmugasundaram placed the receiver back in its cradle and looked up at rudran.

" well,it looks you have come at the right moment.you have five minutes and then he is flying off to delhi for an important meeting.come, let us hurry and not keep the man waiting for it is easier to tackle a pride of lions than face the man,my boss."

SPECTRUM TOWERS was a twenty floor office building and it had nearly a 1000 people working inside it.Each floor housed offices for each of the multitude of businesses that made up SPECTRUM's interests and investments. From software to oil,to real estate to education spectrum was more or less a leader where ever it was present.

Shanmugasundaram walked swiftly towards the row of elevators and taking a card out of his pocket walked to the end and flashed it in front of a panel and then turned to rudran " this elevator is only for the boss and his team.and yes i guess i am included in that."

The doors of the elevator closed silently and a veena started playing softly from some real expensive speakers.the metal box climbed rapidly and in seconds it gently came to a halt and a soft voice whispered " 20th floor."

A tall anglo indian lady, obviously mrs.woodrose hurried towards them " enna shanmugasundaram, what is this sudden emergency.the boss was getting ready to leave to delhi and i had to delay him because of you.I did this because it was an unusual request and one you never make.so hurry now before he loses his cool."

She led them quickly towards the end of an hall and halted before a large expensive looking door and asking them to wait for a second entered and came back swiftly " you can go in now."

She then looked at rudran and let out a soft whistle noise of appreciation and walked away to her cabin.

Shanmugasundaram " boy, that woman is a spinster and nearly 60 years old and we all think she is married to her work and probably will die working and here you have her whistling at you.wonder what effect you have one younger women, more your age."

He opened the door and rudran entered the personal office space of mr.kandaswamy mudaliyar and his jaw dropped at the awesome sight of the blue sea spread stretching to the horizon.

The floor was carpeted with the richest and softest of material and the walls screamed rosewood and teakwood but what caught his attention was the view of the sea.Spectrum associates was built in MRC NAGAR which bordered the sea and thus it stood ,towered over the Bay of bengal.

Rudran had seen many seas and oceans while flying and during his parachute jumps with the special forces he had trained with and yet this felt special because it was home, his beautiful hometown.

" An awesome sight, isn't it " whispered a deep voice and rudran turned and faced kandaswamy mudaliyar who was adjusting his tie.

Rudran stepped forward and gave his hand which kandaswamy mudaliyar took and shook firmly and continued " i see the blue sea everyday and yet it never fails to awe me with its beauty and splendor.there is just something hypnotic and at the same time therapeutic about the sea and her tireless waves."

He then changed from this sudden mellow poet to the powerful man he was and looked at his head of security and then pointedly at rudran.

" I don't know who you are but you must be somebody important for otherwise my head of security wouldn't be disturbing me when i am just about to fly off to delhi.Mr.shanmugasundaram what is this emergency and who is this gentleman and what is he doing here ? "

Rudran looked at kandaswamy mudaliar and whispered " this is about the incident in the mall, regarding you know who and whose name i don't want to mention."

Kandaswamy mudaliyar's body visibly stiffened and shanmugasundaram wondered if his boss had suffered a heart attack and immediately stepped forward " sir,are you okay.is everything all right."

Kandaswamy mudaliyar composed himself and then turned to shanmugasundaram " i am okay.now just go wait outside and let me speak to this gentleman privately."

After shanmugasundaram had left kandaswamy mudaliyar picked up a phone and " cancel the flight and the meeting too.yes,i am sure and tell them we will meet them tomorrow.yes, and i don't want to be disturbed until i tell you i can be disturbed."

They stood watching each other and the older man whispered " the incident in the mall is under wraps and even my own people do not know about it and that includes my head of security who just left.so,how is that you are here mentioning it."

Saying this he went behind his desk and began to open a draw and rudran smiled " sir, please.there is no need for that."

Kandaswamy mudaliyar looked up in anger " no need for what. And how would you know what i need or don't need."

Rudran shook his head " i said no need for the handgun you were about to take out from the draw you just opened."

Kandaswamy mudaliyar stared at rudran " who are you ? what do you want ? "

Rudran " i am the person who saved your daughter."

Kandaswamy mudaliyar's face showed shock, then recognition, then relief, then happiness and finally he placed his head in his hands and started crying.

Rudran stood quietly letting the man burn off the stress and tension that had built up through his tears for sometimes crying and tears are the best antidote and the bet antibiotic.Maybe the bacteria and virus know a person is sad because his immunity comes down and thus opening the doors for them to enter.

After a few minutes Kandaswamy mudaliyar slowly stood up and came near rudran and took his right hand and gently kissed it and whispered " thank you sir.thank you for what you have done.tell me what can i do for you.ask me anything including my life and i will give it to you this minute.ask, just ask for i am grateful, eternally grateful to you and will forever be in your debt."

Rudran smiled humbly " i just want you to call whoever it is you have to call and take the heat of this investigation.Because it might hurt my friends career who is a honest and hardworking police officer."

Rudran explained in detail how the police commissioner was targeting ACP balaraman and how the chief minister was putting pressure on the commissioner to solve the investigation and all this because of Kandaswamy mudaliyar's connections.

Kandaswamy mudaliyar smiled and went to his desk and made a call and after a few seconds spoke in detail to someone and than said thank you and came back to rudran.

" well, that was the chief secretary of the chief minister and he said that he would sort things out and that he would directly talk to the police commissioner himself.Okay,is that all you want me to do for i owe so much more to you."

Just then rudran's mobile rang and rudran said " hello, yes sir.well sir,i have solved the problem.thank you sir.soon sir.i have some work here in chennai and i think i will be back to work by this weekend.yes sir.goodbye sir."

Kandaswamy mudaliyar " mr.rudran.was that your boss on the phone for i counted 6 sirs in that little time."

Rudran shook his head " my boss yes and i can safely say that he is the country's boss too."

Kandaswamy mudaliyar raised an eyebrow " what.the country's boss."

Rudran nodded " yes, that was the prime minister himself."

Kandaswamy mudaliyar started laughing " who are you ? really.who are you ?"
