The cow,the real mother

than raththathil oru padhi paalaaga piripadhu
pasuvooda velaiyappaa
adhu pirithalum paaloodu thanneerai kalapadhu
manidhanin moolaiyappa

Mothers of us homosapiens nurse, breastfeed us for about two years and then it is on to farex, cerelac, amulspray.Milk from the mother lasts for just a few years and even that is not the case in many sad cases.so it is the four legged cow who supplies all the milk to us two legged humans, milk that she makes for her calf.

The cow follows us from the beginning to our end when we pour milk and send a soul on to its final voyage. The cow does more, gives more, sacrifices more than any other mother including all ours. From milk,to curds,to ghee,to butter,to cheese to paneer,to ice creams, the cow is present in every stage and in every step of life.

From feeding us to feeding puppies, kittens to feeding and sustaining life of animals in the zoo,the cow remains a constant presence in our lives.

Even the very gods we worship are bathed with milk, curds and butter that come from her breasts and the very milk that she so lovingly secretes for her calf which is given a mouthful and then left to starve and moo pitifully.

If a calf happens to die, then the human stuffs it with hay and makes wooden poles for its legs and carries it around. The cow thinking it's calf is still there nuzzles it and secretes milk without fail.

In many cases after she has become barren, after her milk producing years are over she is loaded on to a lorry and sent off to the butcher.

so a human mother gives milk for two years or so and the cow until her dying breath.

Who is poor?

A wealthy woman goes to a store and tells the sales boy at the counter "Please show some cheap dresses. It is my son's marriage and I have to give to my maid."

After sometime, the maid comes to the shop and tells the boy at the counter "Please show some expensive dresses. I want to gift my Mistress on her son's marriage"

Poverty is in the mind or in the purse?

Who is Rich?

Once, a lady with her family was staying in a 3-star hotel for a picnic. She was the mother of a 6 month old baby.
"Can I get 1 cup of milk?" asked the lady to the 3-star hotel manager.
"Yes madam", he replied.
"But it will cost 100 bucks". "No problem", said the lady.
While driving back from hotel, the child was hungry again.
They stopped at a road side tea stall and took milk from the tea vendor
"How much?" she asked the tea vendor.
"Madam, we don't charge money for kid's milk", the old man said with a smile.
"Let me know if you need more for the journey". The lady took one more cup and left.
She wondered, "Who's richer? The hotel manager or the old tea vendor?

Hi, I hope everybody is doing good. After being hooked on to a few Hindi soaps I have sworn never to watch them again. With nothing to do, I was browsing on YouTube out of sheer boredom( which is a privilege for me as I never have time to get bored), I happened to watch Anandam serial. I have reached about 16 episodes. So far looked good to me. And Satish, I got to see you in another serial besides Maharani ( which I still think is the best serial I have seen so far). So are you playing a grey character? I will watch for sometime and see how it goes. I guess now I know why you wanted a change so badly.
It is very sad a lot of serials start of very promising and they are good upto a certain time, then it staggers. Then they introduce this super interesting track then end it abdruptly without giving it a proper closure. I just feel the so called creatives are really clueless,I feel they try to cater to the masses for the sake of TRP and they are stuck. It is like watching the same shows with different actors. Don't even get me started on the logics. The less I speak the better. I feel sorry for the actors because somewhere down the line their talent is getting wasted.

Sorry ranting so much. I really had to get it out of my system. I don't usually criticize any profession, because there is so much hardwork put into it but as a viewer it is frustrating. It's ok if you want to bash me.

In this place, in our forum, everyone's views are appreciated and welcome.
If you,me and all cannot air and share our thoughts and opinions on a public platform then where can we do it.

I agree totally that today's tv serials are really boring. In the start I did it for the sake of work and money but then i realised that i was not happy anymore with the standards and quality.

There are lot of talented actors in the tv field and who feel the same way i did and do and yet they are not able to leave for there is no alternate means of work.

I somehow have this modelling assignments to depend on,but most of the actors don't have that cushion.

That is why i made the leap to films and i have to confess that the standards are just better, slightly better.

I have just done four films but i hate to say this that i have said no to nearly twenty films for the roles were such.

Today television and films cater to an audience whose tastes are questionable.Like people films and tv serials have become shallow and the content is mostly about sins and sinners.

I download lots of english and european tv serials with subtitles and spend my time watching them. But even there i am very selective and pick and choose what i like to watch.

I wish you all a beautiful day.Be well.

Yeah I felt the same way lot of times while watching the show. I feel they send wrong messages to the viewers. Honestly it is not just Indian shows but even in the US it is the same. I guess as a viewer we just make your choices and move on.

It must be late night there. Goodnight and really early good morning

These words are emotions written by me dear friend sanjay whose mother is not well and has been bedridden for sometime now. They were heart breaking to read and i want to share it with all of you.

when sickness and disease come calling and they come with the names of our loved ones,we should stop and remember who and how they were once in good times.

She had not always been like that

He stood poised, like a pond heron waiting for a fish, with a catheter (attached to a phlegm suction apparatus) for a beak, ready to pounce on the mucus that gurgled up her throat every so often and threatened to drown her.

That was his role on Sundays - Chief phlegm sucker and feeder.

Mix two scoops of the complete meal replacement powder with 60 ml of water, add the necessary medicine and administer it every hour on the hour. In between, stand ready to suction out the mucus that came up to the edge of her throat but no further and went into her lungs if not cleared.

On her part, she bore it all with complete stoicism, her glassy, unfocussed, new born baby eyes staring at some point above his right shoulder. He would talk to her, sing some song or kiss her forehead, but mostly he would just sit next to her and read a book. She would continue to stare, unblinkingly.

Did she know what was happening, he wondered. Most days she did not respond much, probably tired of being bed-ridden, tired from the constant near-drowning, tired of life. But just when he had convinced himself that she had left the building and he was only tending to her useless body, a snatch of a song sung in his raucous voice or a jig he would do to relieve the boredom would light a bulb somewhere deep behind her eyes and a joyful aaah would escape her. Not for long. Just for 15 - 20 seconds, enough to know she was still around and aware at some level of what was happening. Enough to wrench his heart out.

Obviously, she had not always been like that. Her disease had slowly crept upon her, like a leopard stalking its prey, and pounced on her with such viciousness that she progressed from the first symptom to her current state in just about 6 months. First there were dizzy spells, then her balance went, then mobility and very quickly speech and even eye movement. Within a short span, the disease had robbed her of all motor skills including coughing and swallowing, leaving all muscles atrophied. Except for the diaphragm muscles, which chugged away in top condition, ensuring uninterrupted supply of oxygen and her continued existence. Probably someone's idea for a cruel joke.

She had not always been like that. Before the illness, She had been a kind and gentle mother, with a ready laugh and mischief in her eyes. She had also been a feisty woman, full of an unquenchable thirst for life and deep rooted angst for all the lost opportunities because of being born a woman in the '30s in rural India. A heady combination that made her search for new experiences, push the boundaries, rebel against discrimination at home and outside, both real and perceived, and fight every inch of the way. Which is probably what kept her holding on to life.

She had not always been like that. But five years was a long time and the other memories, involving the real her, were fading. Thinking of her, more and more, only brought up images of her shrivelled bum (having been examinated closely for potential bed sores, every time the diaper was changed), her reddened nostril (from the constant presence of the nasal feeding tube) and phlegm, always the phlegm, bubbling up and choking her.

She had not always been like that, he muttered under his breath. Like a mantra that had the power to keep the joyful memories alive.

REDEMPTION-CHAPTER 12

Media blackout, news blackout is a situation in which a government or other authority imposes a ban on the publication of news on a particular subject.

"Oil may run out, liquidity may dry up, but as long as ink flows freely, the next chapter of Life will continue to be written."? Alex Morritt, Impromptu Scribe

silenzio stampa

The news, that three women who were victims of kidnapping and raping had been admitted to Miot hospitals and that two of them were in the ICU should have spread like wildfire in today's world which is filled with so many varieties of social platforms. But a blanket,a total new blackout order came from the highest power in the state and everyone to the lowest constable decided it was better to shut up and toe the official line that the three women were involved in an accident.

The three rapists had been taken directly to the general hospital and were admitted as having been involved in a separate accident. The health minister had called up the dean and the chief doctors of the government hospital and had specifically told them that no information should be leaked out and the same had been followed.

Rudran sat in his bedroom watching the news, scanning every channel for any information about the men whom he had beaten up and more importantly about the women whom he had rescued. But he was stunned to see no mention about any such thing in the mall in any channel or in any of the news websites.

Finally, with no other alternative he called acp balaraman who answered the phone " rudran,i can't talk now for the commissioner has called the top brass for an emergency meeting.Be patient and i will call you back with all the info.Bye."

Rudran understood immediately what had happened for in today's news hungry society even the smallest and mundane events were eagerly sought out by rampaging journalists who grabbed it and painted it as " BREAKING NEWS."
So if an incident in a popular mall was being suppressed in such totality then it meant only one thing, one or more of the people involved were connected and that too to real power, money or political.

Rudran for a second thought if he had jumped the gun and had gotten himself unnecessarily involved in matters that did not concern him when he should have been lying low and pursuing the matter that had brought him to chennai. But he could not have just stood and let a crime happen no matter what the situation was not when he had sworn in his oath that he would serve, protect and defend his country and its people.

Kandaswamy mudaliar made a few calls and he made it known that he wanted the matter involving his daughter probed by the best in the police force. He told the chief secretary that he wanted to meet those who had rescued his daughter and her students and thank them personally.

Renu felt no comfort when she was informed that she would be discharged the next morning for her thoughts were full of worry about her two students who although not critical were still being monitored for mental trauma.

Renuka had made up her mind that she would stay with her father for some time and then probably think of going back to her flat in egmore.

The police commissioner mr.Rakesh menon sat calmly at the head of the table looking at a file and then slowly looked up and addressed everybody " Thank you for being here all though this meeting was arranged at such short notice.I am not sure if most of you are aware as to why i called for this meeting but we will come to that after ACP Balaraman explains in detail as to the incident which has led to this situation."

Balaraman nodded " yesterday early afternoon i got an anonymous call that in the basement of phoenix mall, velachery a crime was going on and i immediately informed the control room to send all the patrol cars in that area to investigate the area and i myself went there personally to see what the call was about. When i arrived there, our men had already secured the area and i was told that three women had been rescued. But the people who had committed the crime had themselves been violently attacked and were lying on the ground with broken bones and one of them was critical with a severe throat injury. The three women were rushed off to Miot hospitals for treatment and were sheduled to move to a government hospital after that."

Police commissioner mr.Rakesh menon raised his hand " sorry for the interruption balaraman but all of you here have to understand the most important fact in this case before us.One of the women happens to be the daughter of Mr.kandaswamy mudaliar."

The minute the name was mentioned all the officers present looked up in sharply and then stared at each other and there was shifting and rustling of bodies and chairs.

Police commissioner mr.Rakesh menon smiled " see,the very mention of the name got your attention but sadly it has got the attention of our chief minister who personally spoke to me and asked me to handle this case very carefully and to also directly report to her everyday. So you see how important this case is and why we are gathered here."

Deputy commissioner velayudham looked at ACP balaraman " Do you have anything to add to what we already know."

ACP balaraman shook his head " sorry sir.apart from the anonymous call i have nothing to add to what i have already told the commissioner."

Police commissioner mr.Rakesh menon nodded and then suddenly " gentlemen, take a break.Go do coffee, tea or smoke or whatever it is you want to do while i think this over before we decide how to solve this problem."

Everyone were puzzled for it had been just 20 minutes into the meeting and the commissioner had abruptly requested them to take a break.wondering what was going on in their chief's head all the officials stood up and began to shuffle out of the room, when the commissioner " ACP balaraman,i need to talk to you about something important.could you please stay back for a few minutes."

Balaraman not knowing what he could further add to what he had already explained in detail came and back and stood near his Boss.

Police commissioner mr.Rakesh menon signaled with his right hand, requesting balaraman to sit down and then pressed a buzzer on the table and a constable came rushing in through a side door.

" coffee or tea, what will it be mr.balaraman."

Balaraman " coffee will be fine sir."

Police commissioner mr.Rakesh menon went back to poring over the file that was in front of him and then suddenly looked at balaraman " tell me,don't you find it a bit unusual that the man who called you anonymously called you instead of dailing the control room using the number 100.Why is that i wonder for that is the only thing that i find odd here and my instincts tell me that it is the only clue for us follow."

Balaraman's forehead oozed sweat that glistened like diamonds in the air conditioned room and just as he was about to reply, the constable came in with a tray which was laden with a flask and two blue mugs.

After the constable had left,Police commissioner mr.Rakesh menon gently poured coffee from the flask into both the mugs " cat got your tongue balaraman.relax, young man for i know that you are not involved in this crime and yet you are holding back something.I don't know what it is but i guess you are going to tell me about it.pick up your mug and taste the coffee my wife lovingly makes for me and tell me if you have tasted better coffee than this."

"The problem, simply put, is that we cannot choose everything simultaneously. So we live in danger of becoming paralyzed by indecision, terrified that every choice might be the wrong choice."

One of the nicest things I like about this forum is that we are always sitting together on the same page...both literally and figuratively.
When we feel life is "out-of-focus"...this place makes us feel warm and connected.
It's with this warmth I'm sharing #20 years of celebrating DDLJ.
"Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge" was the blockbuster romantic film released in 1995 that captured the love story of Raj and Simran (played by Shahrukh and Kajol).
You don't need to be a Bollywood movie buff or a Shahrukh-Kajol fan to go through some of the filmi moments down in memory lane...
But it's a nice, gentle reminder that some relationships in life never change...
and only get better and sweeter with time.
In a forum that remains just as special as the years have gone by...
here's bringing you #20 years of celebrating an iconic film.
The actors have grown older (Shahrukh looks worn out and a little tired, Kajol looks amazingly more gorgeous than she did 20 years ago)...but their charm and the sparks remain just the same.
They portray exactly how Raj and Simran would have been 20 years after they first met...
teasing...playing...flirting...and fighting!
Enjoy!

Krishnamurthy AKA KITTY,satish and KKK.No,not that KKK

I was on my way to pune for the remaining work of the diamler benz ad and i happened to meet Mr.Raja krishnamurthy again and he insisted that i join him for breakfast. He was on his way for some review work with a multinational company.
The thorough gentleman that he is,he made me sit while he fetched our breakfast for us.After seeing me go through the dosa like a school of piranhas do with their meal,he shared his plate of upma with me.And then we chatted, boarded the flight and i insisted that the only way i could repay his kindness was by bothering him for a pic with me.Needless to say the man looks like a don and i look like a henchman.Pure class, the man is just that.

I first met him on the banks of ganga in Kashi for the serial " Rajakumari" which turned out to be a stillborn child.

I met him for the second time in Kumbakonam for the film Ramanujan.

Well,i met him again for the third time at Kamaraj domestic airport.

So,there you have it.Mr.krishnamurthy and KKK.

I will be requesting nithya to post the pics of me and krishnamurthy sir,for those who dont remember him.well he has acted in satya, nayakan, baasha, thalapathi and as my professor in the film ramanujan
