Good thread, Meli! 'This is definitely the most timely one. 'With the present state of our economy, we are crying out for a change here in the US, and in the city where I live, where a number of my friends are nervous about their jobs. Most of us feel that neither one will have much success in improving the economy, at least for the next two years. '

I would like to see Obama win, because he has come through as the cool one in the debates, and because the thought of Sarah Palin succeeding to the Presidency in case anything happens to the Prez, is enough to scare the wits out of me. 'I can only wait for Tuesday night and see what happens. 'We have already cast our votes in this family, so we don't have to stand in long lines tomorrow.

No, Netra, the election is tomorrow. However, the turnout is expected to be unprecedented this year, with Barack Obama getting a whole new bunch of people interested in the election - college students, African-Americans, retirees, and the fact that in the last election, many people left at the last minute after waiting for over five hours in line, prompted some changes. We had early voting dates in more counties and for a longer period of time. Our votes will only be counted on Tuesday, but it meant that we were able to avoid long lines at the booths. Even with this, some of our friends who voted on Saturday waited for almost 5 hours in line. My husband voted on the second or third day of early voting and he just walked in and out of the booth. Luckily for me, I used the handicapped status to do curbside voting last Wednesday, and it took me only about 20 minutes of sitting in the car. Someone brought the ballot out to me and my dad, and we cast our votes from the car. Of course, this meant that we could not do the electronic voting, but we got to vote without standing in line. We do know some procrastinators who will conly be voting tomorrow. I hope that they do not get turned off by the long lines.

Barack Obama - i would like to see him win again i am not living in US at least he is going bring back the troops from Iraq and other countries - i would say first concentrate your country and educate more people why you are running to other countries because you wanted to test your weapons and more. how many people died - no count i would say use your money to boost your economy so people would have jobs, homes , food and all the basic give them health care plan freely

Eljay,
You did us all proud.
I have to cast my vote tomorrow.
I think much more important than just the presidential vote, there are so many propositions. For the school district, water, parks and all. What most Indians do not realize is the importance of the vote because of the representation of India at the congressional caucuses. They have bailed India out of many a sticky situation.
Over the past so many years, I've never cast my vote. Lets see if it happens tomorrow.

I am hoping Obama wins. America needs a change. Whatever happens in America affects the whole world. While this is not fair, but it is a reality. Recent crisis of Wall Street is one of them. One of the affect was the currency. Thus affected economy all over the world. It is reported that 25000 Malaysians who are working in Singapore will be laid off in coming weeks. Poor guys. Now when they come home, it is difficult to find jobs. Unless, they are willing to settle for less.
With Obama in for Presidency, he will keep the promises he made. Bring the troops back. Iraq needs to go back to its people. Agreed Kalki, you need to take care of your own country and do what is best for them.
Here they show it is the stars and important people who are caring for the people who are living in the poverty instead of the Govt.
Obama, I wish you all the best and if you do come as President, please keep your promises.

Now I am going to be glued to the TV all day long, listening to the results. Poor Obama, he lost his grandma last night. This has to be horrible for him, having to deal with it at this time.
