On his bike way to his home..

"Sir..unga kitta onnu kekalaama?"Raji started hesitantly..

"aaagrrr... indha ponnu konja neram kooda vaaya moodittu chumma irukka maataalaa?"he was tired of her blah blah..

after letting few seconds break for his reply..though he didn't reply she continued her mode..

"Sir,neenga ivlo periya officer..car vachikaama bike la vareenga?"she voiced out her doubt which was pestering her for so long..

"It's none of ur business.." he said in steel voice..

She was surprised by his stern voice..And twisted her lips grumbling..

"ippa naan yenna kettuten ippaid koba paduraaru.."

She maintained silent then..after 30 minutes drive.. bike stopped in front of a house..she presumed that to be his house..she had a quick glance around..it was not so big..or too small..,it was a medium sized individual house...looked very decent ..in her language she would say it was a cute sweet home..

He parked the bike in the portico and unlocked the main door with the key..she looked at him in surprise..

"Appaa.ammaa thookatha disturb panna vendaamnu naan yeppavum spare key vachirupen.."he said as if he had read her mind.

"Manasula ninaikaradhu avlo appattamaavaa mugathula theriyudhu?"she wondered in mind.and decided to be careful with her facial expressions thereafter..

He switched on the light inside..and showed a room adjacent to the living room..

"Idhu guest room .nee use panniko. adhu yennoda parents room..."he pointed towards the room opposite to it..

"Fresh up panniko..thoongidaadha..naan two minutes la varen.." he said it as an order and climbed the stairs with his usual long strides..

"Yedhukku wait panna solraaru?"she was confused..then she shrugged off that thought and went inside the room for freshening up...

As he said he came back in a couple of minutes..changed to his t-shirt and tracks..looked to be so much boyish unlike his usual formal wear which gives him more rough and tough look.

She gapped at him in daze..He appeared to be the same Karthik sir as five years before.

He snapped in front of her..she jerked back to reality.

"Raji..vaa saapidalaam.."

"Saapaadu.." that word sounds like a humming of a bird to her yarning ears...then only she had realized that she had not yet eaten her dinner..after hearing it from him..she felt her stomach grumbling..Its really a miracle she had withstand the hunger for so long which was totally out of her character..normally she couldn't endure hunger..

"Being around him i even lost my appetite..!"she wondered inwardly..

He guided her to the dining table..there food was kept in the hot box..

"Sorry..special aa yedhuvum pannalai.."he said with a little uneasy voice.. ..

"It's ok no problem sir..ungalukku mattum yeduthu vachirupaanga..ippo yenakkum share pannainaa.."

"adhellaam onnum illai..ammaakkalah pathi theriyaadhaa..yeppavume naama saapiduradha vida adhigamaa dhaan yeduthu vaipaanga.." he smiled showing his shining white teeth...

She captured the rare sight without even blinking her eyes..."oh..he even knows how to smile.."

"Rice, sambar and vendaikaai poriyal..."he served her as a responsible host..

Though she had not expected much she definitely not expected the last thing she wanted to eat on this earth.,

She made face and twisted her lips seeing the veggie she hated the most to be served in her plate..

But to her astonishment he didn't served it to her ..instead he served some chips from the other box..

"Unakku vendaikaai pidikaadhula.."he said casually she jolted her head back and looked at him in shock..

For the first time since they met he talked about something related to their past..or he behaved like he knew her already..

"Yenakku pidikaadha kaai varaikkum niyaabagam irukku appuram yennai maatum theiryaadha maadhiri yaen ippadi nadikareenga sir."she asked through her eyes...

Looking at that astonished eyes..he creased his brows..

"Am I said something amazing..u r looking at me like a world wonder?"

"Illai neenga ippa soneenga la..yenakku vendaikaai pidikaadhunnu.."

"So what..?

"adhu ungalukku yeppadi theriyum..?"she asked keeping her gaze fixed on him..

"idhai kandupidikka CBI aa varuvaanga..nee mugatha sulichadha paarthaale podhume..basic common sense irukkara yaarum kandupidichi irupaanga.."he said in a tone as if he was explaining to an idiotic person..

Her face fell in disappointment..she twisted her lips sulking..

"Unmaiya othukaradhula appadi yenna govrava kuraichal ivarukku?"she taunted him in mind..

After that both of them started eating silently..Raji paused a glance at him two three times.it looked he was in deep thought..she preferred to be quiet than to dip her hand into burning coal..

Actually she was right..Karthik's mind was like a burning coal then..lot of emotions flooded into his mind setting him on fire..

"How I am knowing about her likes and dislikes..how could I read her mind like a mirror by simply looking into her eyes..?what connection this stranger girl has in my life? why I have a feeling that I know her inside out..why her face ,behavior ,voice everything looking so familiar ..?"

The more he thought he felt like his head would burst out at any moment..it started Paining like hell..

Raji noticed the weird expression of his face..and got alarmed..

"Sir r u ok?"she asked slowly..

It seemed her voice didn't reached him at all..he gripped his hair tightly with both the hands and dipped his head down with his eyes tightly shut..

Raji was panicked seeing his face drenched in sweat and his face showed so much of agony as if him enduring so much pain..

"Sir yenna aachu?thalai valikkudhaa?naan venaa unga parents ah yezhuppavaa?"she asked in extremely worried voice..

But Karthik stopped her .. "no..avangalai yezhuppa vendaam..they will get tensed..mela yennoda room la dressing table first drawer la oru tablet box irukkum yeduthuttu vaa.."he said suppressing his pain..she ran quickly to get that tablet..she returned within no time panting heavily...she gave the tablet to him with water..he swallowed it quickly...and sat for a while holding his head tightly..after few minutes his pain subsided..and he leaned back on the chair all exhausted.

Till then Raji looked at him in bewildered face holding her breath..

Karthik gazed at her shells shocked face..

"Bayamaa irukaa...?" he smiled sarcastically..

She ignored his sarcasm..

"sir,How r u feeling now?"she asked worriedly...

"Better.."he replied curtly..

"sir,can I make a cup of coffee for u?u look worn out..."

"mmm" he nodded..

She went to kitchen..and fidgeted here and there for the ingredients and finally she made the coffee..as a reflex she sipped it better heading out..

"Sir ..coffee..."she gave the coffee to him..

He took that cup but stopped before sipping it..he looked at her with sharp gaze..

She was panicked and hurriedly wiped her mouth..but there was no traces of coffee..she was confused and looked him back..

But He was not looking at her instead he was staring the coffee cup..

He had seen the light lipstick mark on the rim..he was certain that she had tasted the coffee before giving to him..

But he didn't felt like rejecting it..and also not ready to think over his weird behavior and get into the pain again..

So he silently sipped the coffee as if he was accustomed to it.. knowingly or unknowingly from the same spot where he had seen the lipstick mark..

Coffee tasted so delicious..and he felt as if his taste buds long wait had been satiated ...he drank it without even leaving a single drop..

His heart felt an unknown peace..and contentment..

"Good night Raji.."

He said softly and started leaving to his room.

"sir.."she called him hesitantly..

He looked at her questioningly

"Take care..."she replied with concern filled voice..

He nodded and blinked his eyes once for assuring her and left..

She kept on staring at him until his figure disappeared into his room..

She went to bed with a deep sigh..

She was very much worried for his wellbeing.. being restless she tossed and turned on the bed.. not getting any sleep..

Suddenly she heard a chiming sound of an anklet..her heart felt an uncanny mysterious feel..she sharpened her ears to hear it properly. she could hear it at regular intervals as if somebody walking wearing anklet ... all the horror movies seen by her rushed to her memory to add special effects to her already terrorized mind... her breath caught in her lungs.. heart pounded heavily.. she opened her eyes and tried to look into the darkness..she blinked few times to see keenly..after sometime her eyes accustomed to the darkness and she could see things with the help of dim light of the street lamp leaked through the window... it seemed that a small figure standing near the window with open hair that wavering in the wind..thats it..

She screamed her lungs out..

"aaahhh"and started running towards Karthik's room like a maniac..

She banged the door frantically ..and not having any patience to wait for his response she herself opened the door..and rushed in side..

Karthik already got up from the bed hearing the sloud bang...but before he could comprehend anything Raji hits him hard like a storm and hugged his neck tightly..

"Raji..."he was appalled..

"Sir..sir..anga...pei..naan..."she stammered..

He couldn't fathom head or tail out of her stuttering ..but he could feel her body trembled in fear..without a second thought he hugged her tightly close to him...to comfort her, he rubbed her back gently..

"It's ok..It's ok..calm down..shh..."he hushed her ..whispering some soothing words..

When it seemed that her palpitation has reduced he parted her from him..

"yenna achu Raji..?"

"Sir naan peiya paarthen.."she said in a frightened tone..

"yenna ozharra Raji.."he chided her..

"God promise..naan yen kannaala paarthen..andha room la pei irukku.."

"Andha room la pei irukaa?iyoo..indha vishyam yenakku theriyaama poche,therinjirundhaa pei kitta vaadagai vasool panni irupenae..."he said in sarcastic voice..

"Sir neenga yennai nambalai dhaane..appo neengale poi paarunga appo nambuveenga.."she challenged him..

"Ok iru naan poi paarthuttu varen.."he went down to see..

Raji got even scared to be standing alone..she ran behind him..

"Sir yennai thaniyaa vittutu pogaadheenga.."

By the time Raji approached Karthik ,he already switched on the light and looked around carefully ,when he found out Raji's ghost he laughed out loud..Raji also followed his gaze and gave an absurd look..with extremely embarrassed face..

If she would have switched on the light before running to his room like a psycho, she could have been avoided this embarrassing situation.

She once again glanced the ghost with the corner of her eyes..it smiled at her as if laughing at her plight..

He muffled his laughter seeing her face reddened in shame...

"Idhu dhaan unnoda pei yaa?"he pointed toward the wall..it was a "crazy girl" soft toy hanging on the wall..with two strands of hair wavering with the wind..

Raji's head fell down for a second..but Suddenly she remembered something else... "but I have heard the anklet sound..that was for sure..my eyes might have ditched me..but my ears won't.."

She said in certain voice..

He gasped impatiently.."Adhu window screen ku koozha katti irukara mani design kaathula aaduradhaala varra sound..podhumaa..pei ..keei laam onnum illai..nimadhiyaa thoongu..window ah close pannitu AC pottuko..yendha sound um varaadhu.."

"Sir.." he asked hesitantly

"Yenna...?"he asked angrily.

She looked at him with pouting face.

He inhaled sharply in exasperation..

"Light on laye vachittu thoongu.."he suggested..

Her face still showed reluctance..

"Then what else.?do u want me to sing a lullaby for u?"he showed his annoyance clearly. .

"How rude he is.."she fumed in mind.. her eyes pooled at once..

"Sorry to bother u sir..i should have managed it myself..Sorry once again.."she said meekly controlling her brimming tears..

He closed his eyes in frustration..his heart was agitated to see her hurtful face..he sighed deeply..

"Raji.. naan indha chair la ukkandhu iruken..nee thoongu.."he took out the first book came to his sight from the shelf..and dragged the study table chair near him..and started reading it ..with serious look on his face..

Raji lied down the bed covering the sheet up to her neck..she kept on staring at him until her eyes drifted into a sound sleep..

Karthik stretched his arms as a sign of waking from sleep..his back pained as it was hitting some hard surface while he was moving..he opened his eyes slowly..he had realized that he had slept in the chair itself...his eyes shifted to glance at Raji..she was sleeping peacefully cuddled in a dwelt like a baby..

His heart filled with unknown peace..he couldn't ask for more..even though he had slept on a very uncomfortable chair..he would say it was the peaceful dreamless sleep he had after his countless sleepless nights ..he felt so refreshing...and energetic..

He looked back at Raji..

"This girl definitely possess some magical power.."he thought..

He went out of the room locking it behind slowly..he heard some sound coming from kitchen..he smiled to himself and called..

"Maa.."

"hi kanna..good morning"A reply came from the kitchen..

He entered the kitchen with a huge grin..

"Good morning maa.."

"Night romba late aa vandha pola..?naan thoongumbodhe 11 o clock aagi irundhadhu.."

"Yes ma..11:30 ku dhaan vandhen.."

"appo ivlo seekiram yen yezhundhe..innum konja neram thonga vendiyadhu dhaane?"She asked in concern..

"It's ok ma..i am feeling very fresh than ever.."

She was washing some vessels..with a bright smile..

"Yedhukku maa sirikireenga..?"

"yeppavum solluviye..yen ivlo saadham vaikareengannu...ippo paaru unakku nalla pasi.. adhaan full aa gaali iruka..ammaa yedhu senjaalum adhu correct dhaan irukkum ..ippavaadhu unnoda tholiviya othukko..."she said in a victorious voice..

"No way mom..this time also I won...as always neenga ippavum out dhaan..ur food was more than enough to fill not one but two stomach.."

"Yenna daa solra?" she asked in confusion..

"Ammaa yesterday my colleague has come to our home for a night stay.."

"Yennadaa pudhusaa..usual aa nee yaaraiyum veetuku koottitu vara maatiye.."

"Actually adhu oru unusual situation. ..ava hostel room ku poga mudiyaadha nilamai..adhaan veetukku koottitu vandhen.."

"avalaa?"his mother got curious..and widened her eyes in surprise..

"No mom..don't run ur wild imagination.."

"she is my junior..chinna ponnu...velaila serndhu oru vaaram kooda aagalai.."

"Adhanaala yenna...Ramarukkum Seedhaikum oru paarvai podhalaiyaa?annalum nokkinaal..avalum nokkinaal.."

"Ammaa pls..unga kavidhai thiramaiya kaatturadhukku naan aal kedaiyaadhu..ippadi laam pesi andha ponna bayandhu oda vachidadheenga..ava yerkanve bayandha subaavam vera..."

"Oh..avaloda personality traits yellam kooda therinjaachaa?"

"Amma..neenga irukeengale..aala gaali panama vida maateengale.."

"sari ippo ava yenga da.."she asked eagerly..

Raji came out from her room as if giving answer to her question..

Both mom and Karthik turned towards Raji's direction..

Before Karthik introduce them formally... Raji screamed in surprise...

"Mala aunty..."she came dashing to her and hugged her tightly..

Mala aunty also reciprocated thehug fondly..

"Raajathi..yeppadi daa iruka..yevlo naal aachi unnai paarthu.."she caressed her hair lovingly..

"Ponga aunty ..naan unga kooda doo..sollama kolaama neenga paatukku veetai gaali pannitu poiteenga..appurama oru msg kooda illai..naan unga mela kobamaa iruken.."she looked more like a school kid.while complaining to Mala aunty..

Karthik stared at them in utmost shock..he never expected this turn of event..

"Maa ungalukku Raji ya munnadiye theriyumaa.?"

When mala aunty heard the shocked voice of Karthik she became cautious of the situation..

"Adhu vandhu..naanga Bangalore la irundhappa..Raji yenga pakkathu veetla irundhaa.."

Karthik frowned for a second and then his face went blank..

"oh.."he said flatly..other than that he didn't said anything he quietly went to upstairs for his daily work out..

Raji looked at them puzzled..

"Aunty nalla vela neengalaavadhu yennai theriyum nu othukiteengale..adhu varaikkum nimmadhi..Karthik sir dhaan yennai yaarune theriyaadhunnu saadhikaraar.."Raji said with grumpy face..

"Raji ma..nee brush pannitu iru naan unakku coffee kondu varen..appuram naama pesalaam.."she cut the convo in mid..

After passing a contemplating look Raji nodded for ok..and went back to her room..

After a while Mala aunty reached her room with a steaming coffee..

They sipped the coffee in silence..Raji looked at her in questioning eyes..it seemed Mala aunty was in dilemma..her face showed streaks of worry..

Raji waited patiently for her to open up..

"Raji..unakkulla pala kelvi odittu irukkunnu yenakku theriyum.."

"Adhukkelaam yepapdi answer panradhunnu yenakku theriyala..yenga irundhu aarambikaradhunnum yenakku puriyala.."her voice reflected her grief..

"Aunty romba kashtamaa irundhaa vittudunga ..paravaalla..neega strain pannikaatheenga.."

She said in soft voice..

Even though she was dying to know the reason behind the strange behavior of Karthik she doesn't want to give pain to mala aunty..

"ilali maa..solli dhaan aaganum..yenakkum, manasukulla pooti vachi ...nenju adaichi poi iruken..un kitta sonnaa oru vadikaala irukkum.."

"unnoda modhal kelvi...Karthik ku yen unnai adaiyaalam theiryala adhane..?"

She nodded as yes.

"Rendaavdhu kelvi.avan yen yennai ammaa nu koopiduraan ngaradhu..illaiyaa?"

Rendukkum ore badhil dhaan "Accident""

"Aamaa accident ...adhu dhaan andha kozhandhai yoda vaazhkaiyaye puratti pottuduchi.."

Mala aunty described what had happened to karthik ..hearing that Raji felt the land was slipping under her leg..
