Past , 5years back in Bangalore

Raji took gentle steps from the gate to door step consuming as much time as she could..as to prolong the time of confronting her father..

However she entered her home with crestfallen face ...heart palpitating in high rate..

Her father seated in the living room ,reading the daily newspaper...hearing the sound at the door step he down casted the paper and looked at her..

"Raji..yaen angaiye nikkura ulla vaa."he called her...

His voice was casual but to her startled mind it seemed intimidating ...

She slowly closed the distance between them and extended her test paper with " I am ready to cry at any moment" face..

He took it silently and his eyes fixed to the area where her mark has been noted..

He glared at her with fiery eyes...her insides were shuddered with his look...but nothing much happened then as she had expected..he took the pen and signed it silently and gave back the paper to her..

She couldn't believe her own eyes..she got the paper signed up without even a single taunt ...it was almost like an eighth wonder for her..she felt like pinched herself to confirm whether it's a reality or not..but she restrained that urge with difficulty...

She walked inside with utter relief.. as if she had escaped from some life threatening situation...

But his father's voice followed her..

"Indha maadhiri udhavaakarai mark vaangauradhu idhuve kadaisiyaa irukattum..indha pudhu tuition la yaavadhu ozhunga padichi pass panra vazhiya paaru.."he said in stern voice..

Though her body shivered in fright hearing his cold voice but it was way far better than a disaster she had expected..she thanked her stars inwardly..

She nodded her head very humbly and reached her room to let out a deep sigh..

"Thank god..I have gone through it..that too not having a single scratch .."

At first she thought she has escaped her father's wrath because of her good fortune ..but later she had been enlighten about the part had been played by karthik in her escape..Through her mother.

"Amma...appa yenna inniku romba amaidhiyaa irukaaru..avarukku udambu sari illaiyaaa?yen mark ah paathu kooda yerimalai vedikkave illai ..."she exclaimed in awe..

"Ippa yenna unakku thittu vaanganum avlo dhaane ..iru appaava koopiduren.."

Raji closed her mouth in hurry.. "Ammaa...yerangina vedhaalatha thirumba murunga marathula yethi vittuduva pola iruke...chumma irumaa..beedhiya kelapaaadha..."

"Hey appaava yennadi vedhaalam nu solra..vaai melaiye poduven .."mom chided her.

"Hiyoo sorry..nee oru Anjali devi ngaradha marandhu vaaya vittuten .."she teased her mom..

"Maths varudho illaiyo..vaayi mattum nallaa varudhu unakku.."

"Amma..yeppadi maa indha adhisayam nadandhadhu..yennala innum namba mudiyala... "kutram -nadandhadhu yenna" konjam vilakkamaa sollen..."

Raji asked in curious voice.

"Idhukellam kaaranam andha Karthik thambi dhaan.."

"Yenna maa solra..?"she was amazement..

"Aama..avaru tuiton solli kudukka vandha first naale sollitaaru.. "uncle..unga ponnu kitta irundhu udanadiyaa result yedhir parkaadheenga..overnight la ava centum adipaannu karpanai yum pannadheenga..its a slow process..it will take sometime..adhanaala undane ava mark vaangalainu thitaadheenga.kandipaa indha year end la avla nalla mark vaanga vaikka vendiyadhu yennoda poruppu..adhu varaikkum neenga porumaiya irukaradhu romba mukkiyam.."nu..

Mom said all these...and resumed her work.

Raji went back to her room thinking all those things said by her mother..

She admired ..."Oh what a man he is.!" he not only solved the current situation, he even anticipated the forthcoming issues and made necessary action even before it would actually happen..one side he already insisted her dad to not get angry..on the other side he boosted up her confidence level without telling the truth even though he knew that her father won't scold her... when she thought all these repeatedly she felt her reverence to him has increased many folds...her perspective on him changed drastically in appositive way..

Through this incident she had learnt that ..though he behaved rudely to her there were a hidden concern under it..he was showing his concern in his unusual crooked way that's it..the realization elevates up her mind..

She came to the conclusion that karthik sir was really her well wisher..there after she decided to ignore his harsh behavior as she knew the underlying care in it..

Suddenly she heard her mother calling her loudly.

"Raaji.."

Her trance was broken and she replied loudly..

"yennamaa..."

"mazhai varra maadhiri irukku..maadi la kaaya potta thuniya konjam yeduthuttu vaamaa.."she shouted from kitchen.

Normally Raji would have denied these kinds of works given by her mother. But now in her abnormal mind setting she obeyed instantly..

"Sari maa.."

She went to upstairs..the sudden gust of the wind..Indicating the forthcoming heavy rain. The cold air hits her hard and hair flew frantically in all directions...

It was very difficult for her to take out the hanging cloths gripped by tight clips against the force of the wind which had blown them haphazardly.

She strived to take out the clothes against the heavy wind..mean time it has started drizzling as well..she hurried up her process..when she pulled out the cloth forcibly from the hanger..Unexpectedly it flew away in the air in a jiffy..her gaze followed the direction in which it flew..it went across her home and landed perfectly on karthik covering his whole face ,who was standing on the other side of the terrace..

Raji's eyes widened in astonishment..it was a perfect filmy scene she thought instantly..but the only difference was if it was a movie the cloth would be heroine's dupattaa.but here it was her piggy t-shirt..

"How unromantic and embarrassing..?"

She pouted her lips..mean while karthik took off the shirt from his face ...and treaded towards her in fast strides..

She couldn't fathom what was running in his mind..

"Is he going to taunt me ?'

Her heart skipped a beat watching him covering the distance between them in fast pace..holding her dress in one hand.

He jumped the handle wall with ease.her heart beats frantically ..she stood rooted to her place with gapping eyes..

He came closer to her and extended the t shirt to her with a smile..

"Omg he is smiling.."she could hear something turned upside down inside her..butterflies tickled in her tummy.."oh my..his smile is more dangerous than his stare..."she concluded..

She couldn't face him for long..she felt her cheeks heated up..as a reflex she down casted her eyes..

Her eyes fell on the t- shirt which was still in his hand.an unknown shyness clutched her...she hastily grabbed the t-shirt from him and rushed inside..

"This girl is definitely a mysterious one..what is the need to run like a race.. still half the cloth hanging on.. .." he thought in amusement..

Raji rushed to her room and closed it as if he was chasing her..she leaning on the back of the door clutching her thudding heart.

Second time she came running away from him..but this time it was total contrast from the previous one..first time it was fear..now it was something she was unable to point out..she felt something for him which she had felt never before but she couldn't name it yet..

He was the same ..but the light she had seen him has changed.

She had developed some good impression about him.

Her face became crimson with the mere thought of him holding her t-shirt..she felt something fluttering in her belly..first she was scared...but later actually she had started liking the feeling ...which cherished and flourished in her heart..

The puppy love was budding inside her..unknown to her own self..

One evening Raji visited Mala aunty's house..

She was busily preparing some dish in the kitchen.Raji sat on the slab liberally ..with a quick jump..

"Aunty yenna panreenga?" Raji chirped..

Mala aunty's face lit up as soon as she heard Raji's voice..

"Halwa pannitu iruken..di kozhandha.."she said lovingly..

"Yedhukku aunty..inikku yenna special...?"

"Karthik ku romba pidikkum adhaan .."

"Aunty unga kitta romba nalaa kekanum nu nenaichen..karthik sir,unga akka paiyana..illai thangachi paiyanaa?"

"Rendum illai.."she replied with a smile..

"Appo avaru ungalai periyamaanu yen koopiduraaru..?"Raji asked with a frown..

"Karthik..uncle oda.. thambi paiyan.."

Raji stared her in disbelief.. "Aunty neenga sir mela ivlo paasamma irukaradha paarthu avaru unga blood relation nu nenaichen."

"Yenakku avan blood relation maadhiri dhaan maa..yenakku kalyaam aagi romba varushamaa pillainga illai..yen porandha veettu kaarangale avanga veetu suba kaariyathukku yennai koopidaama avoid panninaanga..adhuvum yen kooda porandha thangachi avaloda valai kaappu function ku yennai azhaikkave illai..appo naan yevlo nodhu poiten theriyumaa?appave yen porandha veetu sondhatha naan velakki vachiten maa..appo naanga chennai la joint family aa irundhom..karthik porandhadhum avanoda ammaa..avana yen kaila kuduthu.. "akkaa inimel ivan unga pillai neenga dhaan ivanga valarkanum" nu sonnaa..naan angaiye azhudhuten theriyumaa..?kooda porandhavalukku kooda illaadha paasam avalukku..karthi ku avanoda ammaa kunam ..appadiye yen kitta nallaa ottikitaan..avana naane dhaan valarthen..yenakku oru pillai illaiyengara yekkame yenakku illai theriyumaa..karthik dhaan yen pillai..ippo rendu varushama dhaan uncle ku inga transfer aagi vandha dhaala avana pirichi iruken.."

Raji looked at her sadly ..felt very bad for Mala aunty ..

"Unnoda pesikittae halwa vaava vittuda poren..idhai kai vidaama kelaranum illaati ottikum.."

Mala aunty resumed her work as if her emotional flash back doesn't affected her at all..

"Yedhukku aunty ivlo kashta pattu seiyanum..kadaila vaangida vendiyadhu dhaane simple.."she suggested her idea..

"Idhu dhaan indha kaalathu pillaigal..yellaam ungalluku nogaama easy aa kedaikanum...veetu palagaarathoda taste unga kadai la kedaikkumaa?"she chided her..

"Neenga kashta padureengalennu sonnaa yennaiye thitureengale..?"Raji grumbled..

"Idhellaam unakku ippo puriyaadhu periyaval aanaa dhaan puriyum.."

"Naan ippo ve periya ponnu dhaan yenakku purium yenna vishayam nu sollunga aunty.."

"Adi ivale..aambalaingaloda manasa pudikanum naa adhukku kurukku vazhi avanga vayiru dhaan.."

"yenna aunty solreenga yenakku onnume puriyala.."

"pondaati nalla samaichi potaa..purushan avala romba virumbuvaan..namakaaga ivlo kashta paduraalennu ava mela paasam adhigam aagum...appadi avanga paasamaa nadandhukkum podhu avanagalukkuga naama patta kashtam yellam kaanaama podium..naan yeppadi unga uncle manasula idam pidichennu nenaikura...yennai ponnu paarka vandhapo naaan potta coffee ah vachi dhaan."

She boasted about her cooking skills with shyness..

Raji jumped from the slab hurriedly..

"Aunty yen kitta kudunga naan konja neram kinduren.."

"Vendaam Raji..unakku kai valikkum.."

"Paravalla aunty.."she forcibly snatched the ladle from her and started mixing the halwa..

Within few minutes her hands had given up..her wrist pained..she was sweating very badly..

"Aunty innum yevlo neram.."she asked in impatient voice..

Aunty understood that Raji was tired..

"Innum konja neram dhaan ma.."she lied

"Aunty innum konjam dhaane neengale pannidungalen..."

She handed over the responsibility to aunty again with a expression of done a great help favor to her..

Mala aunty smiled at that cute child..she loved Raji as her own daughter.. as she has no children she would shower love to all children in that area. Every child have a due attention from her..but Raji was so special and privileged than others. she liked her chatter box nature. whenever she was in bad mood or felt little low ,if Raji was around ...miraculously her mood had been elevated up.. her rattling ,her antics sometimes even her mere presence itself would sooth her mind...

"Aunty karthik sir ku halwa kudukkum bodhu ,naan dhaan senjennu solluveengala.?"she asked with glistering eyes..

"Kandipaa solrendi raajathi..."aunty replied affectionately...

Raji sprinted away with dancing steps by humming her favorite tune..

Aunty smiled inwardly..

"Stupid girl ..she thought making halwa is just mixing the milk for few minutes..how innocent she is..pls god make this child live happily forever.." she offered a quick prayer...and resumed her work..

It's a Saturday ..Raji was taking her lunch at 5 pm with a droopy eyes..as she had slept after having her breakfast at 10..

"Lunch saapidura neratha paaru...karthik thambi varra time aagiduchi..ippadi thoongi vazhichittu irukaa...unnaiyellam yenna panradhu?"her mother taunted her..while serving food on her plate..

Hearing karthik's name her laziness gone with the wind..she snapped open her eyes wide..

but made yucky face ..seeing her plate..

"Yenna maa dhinanum vendaikka poriyal ae panreenga..?"she asked pouting her lips in disappointment.

"Naan yennadi panradhu..vendaikkaa sapitaa dhaan maths nalla varum nu ungappaa..unakku thinanum vendaikaai thara solli irukaaru..senji tharalainaa avaru thittuaaru..senji thandhaa nee thittura..unga rendu perukku naduvula naan maatittu padura paadu iruke..."

She said in tired voice..

"Dhinanum vendaikkai saapitaa maths varaadhu..vendaikaai mela veruppu dhaan varum.."she said swallowing the food like a medicine with the sulky face..

The first sight karthik had happened to see when he entered the house was Raji's sulky face..

Then he overheard the mother daughter convo which brought the smile to his otherwise serious face..

"She is cute .."he thought in mind..

Mean time she noticed Karthik and tried to get up..but he stopped her..

"No no..u eat first..I will wait for u in the terrace.."

"Hai aunty.."he wished her mother and went to upstairs..

She swallowed her food in lightening speed ...and placed the plate in the kitchen..

She had seen her mother preparing coffee for him...

A bulb flashed in her mind..

"Ambalaingaloda manasa pidikanumaa adhukku kurukku vazhi avanga vayiru dhaan.."Mala aunty's word echoed in her ears..

Yes she had decided..

"Ammaa..naan coffee poduren.."

"Yennadi adhisiyama irukku.."

"Amma pls..yenga physics teacher maadhiri romba question pannaadha..yeppadi podanumnu sollu naan appadiye panren.."

Her mother passed a surprised look at her but then instructed her to how to make a coffee..

Raji prepared the coffee as per her mother's instruction and placed the cup in a tray ..on her way ..while climbing the stairs she had a doubt whether the coffee would taste nice or not..

To check that she sipped a bit..it was perfect..

Her face beamed as if she had achieved something great..

She extended the tray in front of him..he stared at her for a second before taking the cup..

She waited for him to drink the coffee..

But he looked at her suspiciously..

"Idhu yechi coffee dhaane..?"

"n.noo..sir.."she stammered.

He raised his hand and wiped the trace of coffee on her upper lip with his index finger..and showed it back to her..

She bit her lip in embarrassment..

"Sorry...first time naane coffe poten adhaan sugar sariyaa irukaanu konjamaa taste panni paarthen.." she said with grumpy face..

"Ungalukku naan vera coffee pottu tharen.." she added meekly..

"It's ok idhuve irukattum.."

He sipped the coffee with a smile..

She gapped at him with wide eyes full of surprise..

"Mm.. its good..."he praised her coffee..

Her happiness knew no boundaries...she gazed at him lovingly with sparkling eyes..
