How I rely on you!

It was over a month that my baby, my Addu, was born, she was quite a naughty kid, and was proving to be our perfect blend. Our responsibilities increased, Nisha even left her job as she was being a little weak since her delivery and I suggested her that. My mother, who came to take care of her during her pregnancy period, had left a week ago. Nisha was having really a hard time taking our care, as even I was her stubborn kid, and being Addu's papa, naughty as well! Morning to night, she would run behind us, taking care of everything related to us, she needed some time, she was really tired of us, maybe! Making Addu sleep in her cradle, I walked towards Nisha who was comfortably sleeping on the bed cuddling to my pillow; I slowly sat on the bed without making any noise and removed the pillow from her grip and lied down beside her. She cuddled into me; I smiled and slowly patted her back to comfort her. I placed a kiss on the top of her head, and looked at her face which had those marks of stress and tiredness. I fondled my fingers over her face touching her soft, soft skin.

What are you doing kabir?" she asked snuggling more into me.

You are awake!" I asked her.

How can I sleep? When I have you two monsters with me!" she said and we chuckled.

Nisha, don't you think you should go and meet your cousins? It's been a while!"I asked her.

What are you planning to do behind me?"She asked suspiciously.

What would I do nisha? I am just telling you, so that you get some fresh air!"I said.

Okay, then I am leaving in a while, now let me be in your arms!"She said.

Okay then! I'll take care of Addu!"I said.

She nodded and kissed me; and rolling over me, she rested her head on my chest, and I wrapped my hands around her, she laid comfortably in my embrace for a while and I slowly dozed off, and only woke up when she woke me up, and told me that she was going to meet her cousins, I kissed her and bid her a goodbye! And went to Addu who was already awake, and she chuckled a bit when she saw me, I took her in my arms and she sneezed, I wiped her nose with a cloth and took her to the window, enjoying the cool weather sitting there and talking in her newly forming language and I fed her, her baby food while she threw tantrums while having it, just like nisha. I lied her down in her cradle while I sat on the couch, sweetly talking to my little bundle of joy, the lights went off, and I don't know when I fell asleep, I soon woke up when I heard her wails, it was raining heavily outside, I couldn't see a thing as it was dark all over, however, I reached her and took her in my arms, calming her down, her body was burning, she had fever, I tried to calm her down, and first calmed down myself, I didn't know what to do, I just picked up my phone and dialed nisha's number but it said some network error, and the call didn't reach her.

I got very anxious, even I was feeling feverish due to the cold outside, and I tried finding a torch, I was not in my senses, I was just moving, I was really worried for my baby, she was coughing and sneezing simultaneously, I however found my car keys and ran out of our flat taking her in my arms, but I thought for a while as it was heavily raining outside and taking her out in this weather may be harmful for her. I again called nisha, but she wasn't picking it up, I did her a few messages, and she didn't reply, I sat down on the stairs with addu in my lap who was covered in her comforter, I just sat there as I couldn't do anything, how helpless I was, I even didn't know how I should be taking care of my own child, so irresponsible I was, so immature I was, tears escaped my eyes seeing Addu shivering with cold, I cuddled her more into me and was just walking back to my flat, and I remembered something, I went and rang the bell of Madhu aunty's house, I still remember how she's so fond of children, and she even took a lot of care when nisha was expecting Addu! Maybe she knows! She opened the door and looked at my painful face and understood that something was wrong, she invited me in and I told her about Addu being ill, she took addu in her arms and treated her, she called out her daughter who was a child care specialist and I didn't knew that, she gave Addu some medicines and in a while, addu dozed off.

I sighed in relief and sat in their house as Madhu aunty told me to, I kept ignoring my health, I knew I had fever too but it was nothing before Addu, I took out my phone and checked out the messages, she replied to my messages, she said that she was just reaching and within a few minutes, she was here, she came running into Aunty's house, and looked at me with pain, I just hugged her and told her that everything was fine, Addu was fine! She realized I had fever too, she carefully took Addu in her arms and I wrapped my hand around her, and we went back home, as the lights came up. and I realized how I relied on her.

As we reached our house, we walked towards our room; she made Addu lie down in her cradle, pulling it a little closer to our bed, addu now slept peacefully after being given the medicines, she gave me medicines, I had them and lied down on the bed, and she slowly slid down in my arms, I apologized to her for not being able to take a proper care of our daughter, she told me that I was not at fault and what I did was correct, she said that even she wouldn't have been able to take care of Addu like I did, I was really astonished at the words of my wife, I realized how much she loved me, and I knew, how imperfect I was, as a lover, as a husband, and as a father, but I made a word to myself today that I would never let both my babies down!
