TBH, I have rather a mixed reaction regarding cinematography and other things. Because I feel it's great in a sense that the picture quality is improved and somewhat eye soothing.

But yes, some shows go overboard with grandeur and it looks rather odd/unrealistic.

More than detailing of the story, I feel these days channel are too much TRP hungry and even the makers go with the flow and often destroy the story when channel give them notice.

Because on an average, the way big Indian families or friends are introduced and everything, you'll require at least 15-20 episodes to lay the basic ground and then proceed with the story telling.

Here it seems like the competition starts even before that and instead of laying the foundation, writers keep changing the plot and characterisation and show loses charm.

Even if Season format isn't introduced right away, personally I feel theakers should film like 30-40 episodes in a way that it represents a Season and if the TRP isn't much, they have the option to end it properly within the time channel offers them because that's better than destroying the story.

No matter how small it is, shows do have their own core fans.

That's our point, till a point it's great but story is nil. Like I actually remember sequences for just cinematography or art, story was nil. Balance must be there.

Channels were always Trp hungry, that's business. But lately after a month all shows will take similar route and tracks go same, there's no different story and content. It's more like different actors doing same role.

Story telling is an art, if you ask me. There's no need of 15 to 20 episodes. It could be done in two episodes, and they can instead show more tracks and plots.

Writers experiment and mess up.

Seasons won't work here much, cos of many reasons but actors too take up different projects. So a finite series of 100 episodes is good to go. But yes, like you say, if it gets super popular it comes with a season after a short break cos team also can get breathing time and mould it interestingly.

Agree on most of the points except laying the foundation in the first two episodes. 🤭

Because it depends. Like if we talk about IPN, they actually laid it in the first episode itself as the story wasn't that complicated.

But I would definitely praise the writers for being able to continue it with different tracks.

Then again, Nazar needed 4. KD needed 50 to be precise but that was it and both the shows should have ended within 100 because the stories were considerably complex so making it stretch would only reduce the quality.

So it depends on a lot of things and the writer's vision. Channels were and will always be TRP hungry and put pressure. Writers and PH should have a backup plan that how they would continue.

Because it's crazy how some PH like KHKT just bluntly blame the audience and channel despite giving them adequate time. And then again there are storytellers like Saba Mumtaz who could complete a story within 7 days while there were multiple tracks going on. 🙂

There was a communication gap, even I agree with you. I thought you were telling show is in middle and friends or characters are introduced, hence said 2 can be enough cos in middle, 20 makes no sense, as story loses focus.

Yes, blaming audience always or channel always is wrong, PH should introspect too. Ofc sometimes they could and all. Also sometimes even actors are responsible for the mess created. Like DD messing up Silsila in crucial stage, or wanting some total change or stuff. We can say, PH can be strict and all, but ultimately they could be good too, and consider plus sometimes actors don't get the logic. Classic example, DG track in Pyaar ka dard, I read in forum and it wasn't the PH's call, as you mentioned, trend was on. Disha wanted a different character, and obviously they can't change a character overnight and there wasn't any scope, so that was the only option. They tried quite a lot, gave arcs to DG but ultimately audience didn't accept then they had to get P back and end with AP.

I agree with actors' contribution. Because ultimately one character can't encompass all. So the least you could do was to be responsible.

Don't get me wrong but I found it quite childish that PKDH PH suddenly had to change the story because the FL wanted to explore. You'll get different roles to experience. What's the need to complicate every role unnecessarily. 😒

I would rather say it was idiocy at its peak.

As far as Silsila is concerned, personally I feel makers couldn't do justice because they favored DD a lot and counted on her popularity. So what was supposed to be complicated became cheap and mass audience sided with Mauli.

And of course the leap and DD leaving midway.

Now I look at it as Mauli's story as she saw different things, faced the worst and yet thrived. 😍

You have not followed the show, and as I say we don't know the whole thing. Disha should have also understood this. It's just like Gul did with SJ, as she didn't want to play certain shades. Thing is some stuff works and some doesn't. PH could have executed better, and put some different tracks instead of DG. But as we say, these shows get over inspired on what's going on.

In a way idiocy! I would say the same idiocy was done by Silsila too, as you said favouring DD. Happens with leads, I believe. Yeah, whole thing lost impact. We definitely side and see growth in Mauli. But this was horrible, cos DD got unwanted sympathy too from a part of audience and that was sick to say the least. I still feel, they could have cast a different person. Cos Mauli suffered too much and for N it was just like an easy way out.
