Hello once again guyz!😊

I am here to present our latest Bakra ahem Interviewee for the,

Special thanks to all the MC members who pose wonderful questions for the Interviewee everytime!👏

And as written in the title(😆), We are going to grill
T. this time!

😛

But be nice because it's her Birthday today!😛

From all MC members! 😊

Here's what she said about her experience and what she thinks about playing musical instrument(s):

I play the piano and have currently reached the half-way point in my piano studies (5th grade).

I started playing very late actually - when I was 16. But, there is no age limit if you're actually interested in anything. You can do it all the same.
----
Ahaaa...😛

Now time for some Questions,

How long have you been practicing/playing the piano?!

What/who was your motivation and inspiration to learn piano?! Do any other family members play?!

Please describe/explain to us the major parts of the piano!

Is a piano similar to a harmonium, in terms of playing?!

Who, if any, is your favorite pianist?! Why is he/she/they your favorite?!

Where in your house is your piano displayed?!

When and where do you find it most relaxing/soothing to play the piano?!

When you are playing, describe your emotions at that moment (how does it make you feel)?! Do you close your eyes while playing, like many others?! If so, why?!

If you were given a chance to portray your talent at an event, to which song/musical would you play?! Why?!

Is there any other instrument that you would like to learn how to play?! Which one(s)?!

In movies, why do you think characters are sometimes shown playing the piano during sad/emotional scenes?!

Last but definitely not the least, a very special question from me😃, why do you think a "pia+no" is named what it is?! Does its name have any meaning to you, or do you know the meaning of piano?! (Hehe, Don't laugh at this question, I know you will get it😆)

MC'ians, it is now your turn, if you have any further questions or comments, please start posting them for T. now! The person who asks the best questions will be given a special prize! 😊

(This interview will end on the evening of July 27, 2006)!

How long have you been practicing/playing the piano?!

Five years

What/who was your motivation and inspiration to learn piano?! Do any other family members play?!

Well, my mother wanted me to play it and I always thought it looked so elegant, but we never had a chance when I was younger. I'm the only one who plays now. 😆

Please describe/explain to us the major parts of the piano!

Upright and Grand pianos have 88 keys, each of which produces a sound of a different frequency. They are divided into sets of 7 musical notes (Sangeet ke saat sur)

As you hit each key, a hammer hits a string to produce a sound. Basically, a piano is like a very very big HARP.

There are 3 pedals at the bottom.

1) The right hand pedal is called the damper pedal. It basically makes your notes sound very connected and smooth (legato). It brings a beautiful quality into the music.

2) The middle pedal is used as volume reduction. Basically, if those neighbours find you too loud, you can press down that pedal and fix it in place to play very softly.

3) The right hand pedal makes your notes sound quieter, but not as quiet as the Middle pedal.

Is a piano similar to a harmonium, in terms of playing?!

While the keys are the same, the sound is very very different. Harmoniums have a harsher sound quality and they also have a sort of pump for air. Harmonium players use only one hand to play keys, piano players use both hands.

So, both instruments are quite different when it comes to playing.

Who, if any, is your favorite pianist?! Why is he/she/they your favorite?!

Ludwig Van Beethoven is my ultimate fave because not only are his compositions spectacular, but as a person he was really determined.

Towards the end of his career, he was nearly deaf. Legend says that he cut off the legs of his piano, put his ear to the floor and banged on the keys to hear the vibrations and compose!

Where in your house is your piano displayed?!

In my room. We had to move it coz the neighbour got disturbed 😳

When and where do you find it most relaxing/soothing to play the piano?!

Whenever I'm stressed. Playing for myself without bothering about anyone else is very relaxing.

When you are playing, describe your emotions at that moment (how does it make you feel)?! Do you close your eyes while playing, like many others?! If so, why?!

I face a variety of emotions depending on the situation - excited, tense, relaxed. I generally dont close my eyes unless I'm VERY VERY sure of the song and know where the keys are.

If you were given a chance to portray your talent at an event, to which song/musical would you play?! Why?!

I would play Fur Elise (Beethoven) - its an all time classic and I LOVE it!

Is there any other instrument that you would like to learn how to play?! Which one(s)?!

I wouldn't mind learning an acoustic guitar. It has a lovely rich sound.

In movies, why do you think characters are sometimes shown playing the piano during sad/emotional scenes?!

The sound of the instrument has a very soothing quality to it and its very versatile - it can depict a vast variety of emotions.

Last but definitely not the least, a very special question from me😃, why do you think a "pia+no" is named what it is?! Does its name have any meaning to you, or do you know the meaning of piano?! (Hehe, Don't laugh at this question, I know you will get it😆)

😆 The answer is very simple actually. Any piano player, who knows what volume or dynamics are, will tell you that the word "piano" means "soft" or "quiet" in Italian.

Initially, when the instrument was developed, it was called a Pianoforte (Piano = soft, Forte = loud). It was called SoftLoud. 😛

In sheet music, whenever you see a "p" at the front, it stands for piano. When you see an "f" it means forte.

MC'ians, it is now your turn, if you have any further questions or comments, please start posting them for T. now! The person who asks the best questions will be given a special prize! 😊

(This interview will end on the evening of July 27, 2006)!

No, I haven't really had a chance as we haven't had a gathering where there is a piano available 😆

and to whom u smile, when playing piano ? (arrey in movie, hero-heroine smiles when they play)

If I were in Bollywood I would smile at a cute actor and my fingers would effortlessly tickle the ivories. 😆😳

In Twood (my world), if my keys have been nice to me and make the sound I want them to make, then I smile at them - "Good keys, I'll give you a nice polish now!" 😆

WOW!Great Explanation!! After these interviews I have started thinkign that I really know somethign about music!😆😃

Is a piano similar to a harmonium, in terms of playing?!

While the keys are the same, the sound is very very different. Harmoniums have a harsher sound quality and they also have a sort of pump for air. Harmonium players use only one hand to play keys, piano players use both hands.

So, both instruments are quite different when it comes to playing.

aha..you know the saat surz you mentioned abpve..Are those sa re ga ma pa dha ni sa? (ye to 8 hogaye😆)

So main differnce is quality of sound rite?

Ludwig Van Beethoven is my ultimate fave because not only are his compositions spectacular, but as a person he was really determined.

Towards the end of his career, he was nearly deaf. Legend says that he cut off the legs of his piano, put his ear to the floor and bangd on the keys to hear the vibrations and compose!

Yeah, I have hear about him..very interesting🤔!

Where in your house is your piano displayed?!

In my room. We had to move it coz the neighbour got disturbed 😳

hehe..stupid neighbours dont have the knowledge about surz and melody!😆

When and where do you find it most relaxing/soothing to play the piano?!

Whenever I'm stressed. Playing for myself without bothering about anyone else is very relaxing.

Do one has to be very angry to play it with full enthusiasm?😆

When you are playing, describe your emotions at that moment (how does it make you feel)?! Do you close your eyes while playing, like many others?! If so, why?!

I face a variety of emotions depending on the situation - excited, tense, relaxed. I generally dont close my eyes unless I'm VERY VERY sure of the song and know where the keys are.

WOW..like floating in the air?😛

Is there any other instrument that you would like to learn how to play?! Which one(s)?!

I wouldn't mind learning an acoustic guitar. It has a lovely rich sound.

Everyone wants to learn guitar why so?😛

In movies, why do you think characters are sometimes shown playing the piano during sad/emotional scenes?!

The sound of the instrument has a very soothing quality to it and its very versatile - it can depict a vast variety of emotions.

aaa....I should learn it!

Last but definitely not the least, a very special question from me😃, why do you think a "pia+no" is named what it is?! Does its name have any meaning to you, or do you know the meaning of piano?! (Hehe, Don't laugh at this question, I know you will get it😆)

(if yes, which is ur fav song)

I generally play instrumentals, so i sing the notes "La la la la" 😆

If its a Hindi song, then I TRY to sing the lyrics, but for the most part I avoid singing as when the song goes into higher pitches, I sound like a shreiking Falsetto Queen

T. ur comments on the comment.
"piano-playing makes a human, better human-being" 😊

I don't know if I have improved in any way 😆

But, in one way, it has made me truly appreciate musicians and singers and the work they do.

Before I used to say - "Kya bore kar raha hai baja ke", but now that I've learnt music, I understand the difficulties behind it and can appreciate the "bores" much much more. I'm no longer as critical as I used to be. 😊
