Chapter 3
Nupur parked her car and sat in it to collect herself before she got out there into her new world. She knew she was going to be stared at...she was the new girl. Back at her old college she would be the one doing the staring and wondering if the new person was worthy of being friends with. This time she was put on the spot. As she walked to the canteen where she had decided on meeting dia she could feel the looks of all the people she passed...the girls checked her clothes and hair out the guys just checked her out. She was so happy when she saw diya sitting with benji and some other people she didnt know. Dia saw her and smiled and nupur immediately felt relaxed. She would be fine...but then her gaze slid past dia to see mayank...he was frowning, and nupur felt the knots in her stomach tightening again. *Its ok nupur calm urself, just act normal.* she thought as she made her way to the table.
Dia: "Hey!! Let me introduce you to everyone, this is manali, amrita, Nikhil, sameer and ketan. You ofcourse know mayank and benji. Everyone this is nupur." Nupur did a general wave and smiled at everyone, nodded at mayank and benji got up to hug her.
Benji: "Hey gorgeous!! Missed u" he flirted
Nupur: "Missed you too..but you know we cant talk in front of dia." She replied winking.
Dia: "yeah yeah save it for your secret rendezvous." The least bit affected with the exchange.
She happened to look at mayank and the frown on his face seemed to have deepened. *Ok so this was going to be pleasent.* she thought.
Dia: "Hey don't u have to go to the office?"
Nupur: "Im going to head there now, just wanted to meet u guys first and probably get directions."
Nikhil: "Hey i don't mind taking you." Before Nupur could thank him mayank interrupted.
Mayank: " Im heading that way, ill show you the way." *great* she thought and mumbled her thanks to him and waved to everyone else.

Mayank: " Look about the other day..."
Nupur: " oh good ur going to apologise." Interrupting him , which clearly annoyed him so she added. "well since it was your fault it would be the right thing for you to do and i forgive you." He stopped walking and grabbed her hand to make her stop and face him.
Mayank: "Forgive me? What the hell is wrong..." He closed his eyes and took a deep breath as if to calm himself. "Look it was both our faults and i am willing to admit my part of the mistake if you take responsibility for yours...and there's no need for anyone to apologise, lets just call it truce."
Nupur: "First of all get your hand off, off me and second of all im not going to admit to a mistake i never made, but i will forgive you for dia...even though you obviously have some problems you need to address." Nupur saw the look on his face and thought maybe she had pushed him a bit far..He let go of her hand and leaned forward, his face close to hers..he had the most amazing eyes which were filled with fury right now..she wanted to step back but stood her ground.
Mayank: "The office is straight ahead on your left." With that he just turned around and stormed off.
Nupur took a deep breath and caught a few people who had seen the exchange go back to doing their own things. She turned as well and headed for the office.

*What is wrong with that girl!!* thought mayank as he stormed through the corridors *she was going to forgive me, for what putting up with her? Whats wrong with me i should have just ignored the whole thing, apologised and put it behind me, it didnt matter to me to apologise it wasn't going to make me smaller.* but there was something about nupur which got under his skin. When he had seen her walk into the cafeteria today he was blown away, she was gorgeous..was she this gorgeous the other day...he couldn't remember. This confused him...what confused him even further was the irrational anger towards the exchange between nupur and benji ..he reasoned saying he just wanted to protect benji from a crazy person. *Forget it, i tried and i failed i kept up my part of the bargain, i tried to sort things out. Im off the hook.*he thought as he reached his class.

Nupur: "Hi im a new student and i was told to collect my class schedule here today. Here are my details." Handing out her admission papers to the receptionist.
Recep: " Final year - Commerce, here is your schedule...you should hurry up or u'll be late for your first class."
Nupur: "Ok thanks, where is class 131 A?" she asked the recep.
"i can take you there if you want." Said a voice from behind. Nupur turned around to see a good looking guy who was almost a foot taller to her, well toned body and a friendly face.
Nupur: "Hi, its ok if you can just tell me where it is."
Dhruv: "Its fine im headed that way right now...i have the same class..Names Dhruv by the way"
Nupur: "In that case id appreciate it. Thanks...im Nupur." They shook hands, and he held on to hers a bit longer than necessary. *your just being touchy because of mayank, this guy seems nice...snap out of it nupur* she thought.
Dhruv: "So just new to the college or the city as well?"
Nupur: "Is it that obvious, i just moved from Bombay." He smiled.
Dhurv: "ah Bombay! So what brings u here."
Nupur: "Mom got a new job so we all moved."
Dhurv: "Well i know its hard to forget Bombay but trust me once someone lives in Bangalore you cant live in any other place. Specially if you have an awesome guide like me to show you around."
Nupur: "Thanks for the offer ill keep that in mind."
Just outside their class someone called out her name, she turned to see mayank standing there with a frown on his face.*i s he capable of any other expression* wondered nupur. Not wanting to create a scene in front of Dhruv she told him to go ahead.
Dhruv: "Ok, but only if you promise to sit next to me...hey dude." He addressed Mayank and went in.
Nupur: "You know you'll wrinkle your perfect face that way?" Refering to his frowning expression.
Nupur: "Warn me? Isn't that a bit dramatic, he just walked me to class whats the big deal..." She said sarcastically. Mayank sighed and said.
Mayank: " he might appear like a nice guy but he tends to get a bit instance, so you know just keep your distance...i dont advice you to sit with him but if thats what u want to do then its not my place to say anything."
Nupur: "Good im glad we agree, its not your place to tell me what to do. Im sure i can handle myself in case he tries to steal my pen." She said that and walked into class.
Mayank: "Do you aways have to have the last word?" he asked following her into class. Nupur turned and smiled.
Nupur: "Yes." And she went and sat down next to dhruv. She hadn't planned on doing so at first but now that mayank had told her not to do so, she just had too. She looked over at mayank who had taken a seat close to them and flashed him a smile, he just rolled his eyes at her and turned to talk to some else.
Dhruv: "Hey, so how do you know mayank?"
Nupur: "Oh he is friends with my cousin who goes here Dia Kapoor, do you know her?"
Dhruv: "Yeah i think i do, benji's girlfriend right? But i got to say i dont see the resemblance your way more gorgeous than she is." He flirted. As if he had overheard mayank turned to look at them, which angered nupur so she laughed and flirted right back.
Nupur: "Oh dhruv our so funny...so tell me about yourself." She gushed. She hated to flirt with a guy just to use them but she knew she was good at it and when she turned it on the guy was toast. And she directed it all towards dhruv not so much for his benefit as much as for mayank...this earned her a disapproving look from mayank which was completely satisfying.
