Hey Guys:

The first week went off quite smoothly except that she hated to admit but mayank was right about Dhruv, he kept coming on to her even though after that first class she rarely made an effort to talk to him. He seemed to be where ever she was and had even managed to get her number from somewhere and kept on calling her up or texting her. She was going to have to tell him to back off if this continued any further. The only time dhruv left her alone was when she was with dia and the gang. She didnt want to tell dia b'cos she knew it would reach mayank via benji and she didnt want to give him the satisfaction of saying i told you so. So on Friday she decided to tell him to lay off. She had come to college early that day and was sitting in the canteen waiting for everyone, when dhruv came up to her, and put his arm around her sitting a little to close.

Dhruv: "Hi beautiful."

Nupur: "Hi dhruv.." she said moving slightly away.

Dhruv: "So you missed me so much that you came early...what say we go grab a drink tonight?" his friendly face appeared creepier everyday.

Nupur: "Uh dhruv i dont think thats a good idea...i dont like you in that way...i mean..."

Dhruv: "What way doll, we are just two friends hanging out...now if you want to make it something more.." he said sliding his hand down to nupur's waist, which caused nupur to bolt up.

Nupur: "Look dhruv, i cant ok..i cant hang out with you any more."

Dhruv: "Why not? I know u are totally into me, i knew it from the first day...whats stopping u..are you involved with someone else?" Nupur had a brainwave she knew guys like dhruv, who thought just cos a girl was single meant she was always available. She realised she would have to make up a bf to get him to keep his distance.

Nupur: " yes i have a boyfriend and he doesn't like seeing us together..so"

Dhruv: "Seeing us together? So he goes to this college? Who is it?" *damn it!! Why did i have to say that, now where was i going to produce a bf from.* thought nupur, just then her gaze slid past dhruv to see someone walking towards them.

Nupur: "Thats him." She rushed past Dhruv and hugged mayank. "Hi baby! I missed you so much." She said loudly and whispered to him, hugging him again "please just play along." As soon as he regained his composure mayank pulled back and said

Mayank : "Hi cutie...i missed you too..whats going on?" looking over at dhruv who had walked upto them.

Dhruv: "Mayank is your bf? You told me you only knew him through dia.. plus i have seen u'll together...no way are you seeing him. Why cant you just go out with me and drop this act nupur." Before nupur could say anything mayank put his arm around nupur and replied.

Mayank: "Dhruv...i am nupur's bf...we had a fight and thats why we weren't really talking, but you see dia introduced us before college started and we hit it right off...didnt we baby." Looking at nupur..who just stood there dumbfounded until he nudged her.

Nupur: "Yeah we did" she mumbled.

Dhruv: "whatever...i dont believe it." He said and stormed off.

Mayank: "So i think im going to be the big person here and not say i told you so." He looked down at nupur grinning as she wriggled out of his hold.

Nupur: "Big person huh? Just cos you happened to be right about one thing doesn't make you right about everything." She said and started walking off.

Mayank: "boy..you just dont know how to thank someone do u? Especially when u came to me for help." she took a breath and turned around.

Nupur: "Thank you...i didnt mean for that to happen, I told him i had a bf to get him to back off and you were there when he asked me for a name and i dont know what came over me but im sorry. i used you. You dont have to continue it...its not like he believed it anyway so just forget about it and ill handle him, u dont need to put urself out for me."

Mayank: "wow! Sorry , Thank you...that speech must have seriously hurt ur throat. Im kidding." He added when she looked like she was about to burst again. " Im happy to help. Look dhruv is a jackass...he doesn't get the msg, thats why most of the girls avoid him, the last girl who dated him had to transfer to another college cos he couldn't face the fact that they had broken up. Hes not dangerous as much as annoying. I know you can handle urself, infact i can bet on that. Im more worried about him getting physically hurt." Nupur rolled her eyes and he continued. "Plus u didnt really use me...i have a proposal for you."

Nupur: "A proposal? " seriously confused.

Mayank: "I just broke up with my girlfriend before the summer and she has been trying to get back with me ever since...she's kind of getting like glenn close...if you and me pretend to date then maybe she will get the msg and leave me alone."

Nupur: "So my choices are either i dont pretend to date you and eventually get stalked and killed by dhruv or pretend to date you and eventually get stalked and killed by ur glenn close clone? U know when i got up today i knew it was going to be a fantastic day."

Mayank: " All im saying is it could work in both our favours..we dont really have to do anything much other than hang out in college together ."

Nupur: "Fine. I guess it could work."

Mayank: "But we cant tell anyone that we aren't dating even dia and benji,"

Nupur: "What.. why? Dia will know, she knows me too well."

Mayank: "Then we just have to be convincing. Look things have a way of getting out. the more the people know the harder it is to cover it up. Why are you worried its just for a few days till dhruv and sheena get distracted with someone else. " Nupur agreed reluctantly.

Nupur: "I guess ur right. Fine we wont tell anyone. I dont believe this, never in a million years i thought id be in this situation."

Mayank: "Cool. Dont worry this is strictly a business proposition." He said, holding out his hand.

Nupur: "Yes professional." said, shaking his hand.

*I dont know what made me do it* Mayank thought, when he entered the canteen and saw dhruv make a move on nupur he wanted to break his fingures...he couldn't understand why it would bother him so much he didnt care what dhruv did and he certainly didnt care what nupur did. Then when she hugged him..he was shocked but it felt so right to have her there in his arms. He doesn't know where it had come from but he wanted to agree to any of nupur's idiotic stories if it kept dhruv away from her. It wasn't that idiotic actually it was perfet b'cos now he can tell sheena that he had moved on. *yeah thats what im happy about, i have found a way to deal with sheena. Plus its all safe both nupur and me know its just pretence there is no chance of it to get complicated.* He thought looking down at nupur sitting next to him engrossed in what the prof was saying. *and she seems normal enough when she is not screaming. Normal and definitely easy on the eyes.* As if she had heard his thoughts she looked at him with a strange expression and asked him sarcastically if he needed to go to the loo or something...that about broke the spell and mayank started paying attention to the prof. *easy on the eyes maybe, but not so easy on the ears.*

As mayank ignored her and looked back at the prof Nupur thought to herself. *I dont know what made me do it* Dhruv was asking her for a name and she was drawing a blank, suddenly mayank came in front of her and something came over her. Impulsiveness was one of her major flaws which she really needed to work on. It had gotten her into heaps of trouble before just like today. But she knew when she hugged him everything was going to be fine. Funny about that since she didnt even like him or know him, but she trusted him enough to know that he would help her. *i wonder how long will this have to last..hopefully dhruv will find someone else to infatuate himself with by next week and well mayank's gf, sure mayank was exaggerating about her psyco nature..i mean she had been in this college for a week and had never even seen her. *

Dhruv is such a psycho but thanks to him Mayur are together at least to pretend... Thank you so much...
