My Dear Friend Sabah, long time...still rocking the examiners off their chairs? I never doubted it!
Thank you so much for writing such a wonderful post.....i read it last night but couldn't reply....but reminiscing those old moments left me nostalgic!!Thanks for cheering me up with your post once again!!All credit goes to the beautiful scene.
@Jess,Senny,Mou.....and Sabah....all of you have written so well👏 I concur! 👏
I don't know what more to write.....i'm short of words and neither can i write with the beauty that you all do.I disagree, you write wonderfully well!......but let me try and add something from my side...............

SHILPA SHARMA........a symbolism of the modern woman today......she is a single parent, works hard.....at times keeps quite busy with her job.....but she always had time for her only son....Mayank.....aka Mayu!!!

The most important aspect of parenting. It is a shame that we have created a society where we force parents to sacrifice their time in work, whereby children are forced to seek guidance from elsewhere, mainly the TV. I loved it that he would always 'run' to her first, not to his 'mates'.

Single handedly she raised him to become what he is now.......she inculcated all those values....to respect a woman,work....be caring and humble......and everything in her son.....she has been his support always.....whenever Mayank needed her,she was always there to guide him......An exceptional role model for the modern day woman whether married, single, divorced or widowed.
She is an easy going woman, she knows perfectly that life needs to be enjoyed but she knew her son was yet to learn that....and she was glad that her son had met someone like nupur!! At times,i found so many similarities in her and nupur......! She tolerated Mayank's anger for she knew her son inside out....she knows what he can do and what he can't......she teases him....she knows he'll get irritated...but she also wants to teach him...that in life one can't always be serious....but in matters such as the marriage of mayank and nupur.....she displayed her disappointment too at the way mayank had handled the situation....she very patiently requested bauji and was handling matters so well.....she accepted nupur with open arms....but also made it clear that they needed to study first, build their career........!I think this is the key to her correct upbrining of Mayank, she never mollycoddled him, but she still infused his life with the colours of this life!

MAYANK SHARMA........the sadu, sarcastic guy.....very different from his mother in many aspects....I love the mystery of their history. For in truth the details are not the important aspect, it is their reaction or how they handled that turmoil that matters most. We see the fortitude and determination to not let their troubles pull them down, like when Shilpa Aunty lost her job, and we see that they truly appreciate are very much grateful for each other! one wonders why that serious self.....maybe he had seen his mother go through various hardships and now he wanted to do well just for his mother who had done so much for him!!!!It makes me love this sadu side even more, I would not part with it for all the sugar in the world.

Though,a very sorted out person,(he has gained that quality from his mother)....there were times when he needed immense support.....whenever he was to take an important decision,he would first consult his mother......she calmed him downWe are all still little vulnerable children inside. At the root of it Mayannk is confident in his abilities, and not arrogant, therefore he is open to those insecurities that most humble people fall victim to.

....gave him her own perspective in an unbiased manner.....at times he didn't tell her directly what the problem was,he just wanted to speak to her....it gave him courage and strength to move on....(the scene when he talks to his mother ,when he learns about Nupur's marriage) Mayank is a momma's boy.....he himself has been a great support for her....he understood she was feeling low...when she lost her job....those scenes show us so much of the caring child that mayank is.....he couldn't see his mother like this....he could see her getting tense, worried and for him she was most important....more important than anything or anyone....he didn't care about his love and the problems at that time...he only knew that his mother needed him...!Maynk,known to handle difficult situations, perfectly, ina cool, smart way....learnt it from his mom!!

The relationship that the two shared is so wonderful....amazing!!

It was always so much fun to watch Mayank and Shilpa aunty's interaction.....always got a smile on my face......😊.....from teasing her Mayu about a girl (i have to say,it was just so amazing!!!she wanted her kid to atleast have a girl in his life....have some excitement in his life!!! LOL,remember her constantly telling him about her friends and their son, with their gfs??!!!).....to the famous.."maa,balon ko mat choo".....(she didn't want mayank to just be a perfectionist...she wanted him to have fun!)I JUST LOVED YOUR TAKE ON THIS!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS!!!!
.....to the "mere young kaan, aise adult battein nahi sun sakte"...and him getting embarrased and angry......to him trying to hide his feelings about nupur from his mom....and her understanding it only too well....rather she understood it way before...during the first holi sequence!!!I look for two things in a man, honesty and Haya. I may find honesty in men but nowadays in this 'look-at-me' society it is very rare indeed to find haya. The last examples in my life was Darcy and my neighbours son. I loved that the creators created this persona who has both confidence and haya in abundance. Today, many people destroy haya within themselves seeing it as a weakness when in truth is it beauty!
.....to that proud Shilpa aunty, when her son had just confessed his love infront of all....to the caring, understanding mother..telling her son to fight back his love!!.....to that little interaction at their bangalore's house!!!.......him hiding his poem for nupur....and she trying to read it.."ma,kya kar rahi ho??....."aajtak teri cheeze nahi check kari...kyunki tune mujhd=se kabhi kuch nahi chupaya!!....yeh kya hai??" ....to their discussion about his poem......her asking him to go to nupur and say this poem to her......those times when she scolded him about his behaviour to nupur....or her melodramatic ways........"main hoo na"......the diwali scenes........................this can never end......thier relationship can't be decribed even if i write thousands of words(maybe i can't write it well)........we can only watch and say...........everything that i wished to say......is here in this VM that i found....all credits to the makers...i'm sorry couldn't ask their permission!!

Thanks, and to makers, it is lovely!👏

I 'm sorry if i haven't been able to put those moments in words well enough.....i'll be back soon and try and put it better!!!Study first, then come back, you don't want to disappoint Mayank😉

Edit-
Another one....please give credit to Aisho.....i couldn't ask her too....can anyone tell me whats her id???

Sabah 🤗 Wonderful post!! I was really moved reading this post and all those who commented, lovely comments - senny , mou, jess, debo, sonal, nanditha...all of u wrote beautifully:)

I'm not sure how different this is from the rest of the posts, but there is only so much I can do to stop myself from writing when the topic is as close to my heart as this.

Shilpa Aunty is undoubtedly one of my favourite characters on Television, but she is also one of those rare mothers on screen (that includes both movies n serials) who are a true reflection of a wonderful parent.

Real. Thats the first word that came to my mind when I saw Mayank and Shilpa Aunty onscreen. A single parent, who does not wallow in self pity, is hard-working and loving/caring. The cherry on the cake, she is fun-loving. Honestly, thats one word that I hadnt associated with MJHT till then.
Breezy introductions of main leads and a rather loose premise thats how I saw it, (of which I loved one pair of the leads) its when Shilpa aunty came into the picture that I felt a strange sort of affection to the show itself. I could relate to her, instantly.
How did Mayank Sharma become Akdu Sadu after being with a mother as bindaas as Shilpa Aunty? That one question always stumps me. Like you said, it could be from the father or some circumstances. It could be about a young, bright boy growing up without a father? It could be about the boy realising his responsibilities at a young age as he knows his mother has donned the role of both a father and mother for his benefit. He, inturn, grew up faster, as he wanted to be her support faster, In the process, he forgot to enjoy life, which was strange as his mother believed in living life to the fullest.
The best part of their relationship is ofcourse, that he is a different person with her, (later he was with Nupur as well). He was not rude or indifferent to her, infact he was the best son any mom could ask for.
My favourite moment is when his mother comes home late from office, tired , he asks her to eat food, to which she replies she'd eat later. (the food was lovingly made by him) . Then she says., "ab iskeliye muh phahlake mat baitna..mein khaloongi" . That lines clearly says that they are comfortable with each other, she doesnt have to do things just to please him. Perfect.
He respects women, doesnt find anything wrong in sharing house-hold work (cooks too) and does not treat women like objects. All qualities imbibed in Mayank due to his wonderful mother.
I wish every young boy a mother as wonderful as her then life for women in general would be easier in society.
There is more to come, but then I'll wait for the rest of your posts.
Thank you once again for this wonderful topic.

beautiful post! i'm totally in aww! speechless.Hey, only give credit where it is due, and all credit goes to Mayank and Shilpa Aunty, or Arjun and Vaishnavi👏
to be honest i have always loved mayu-mum relationship more than anything in this show! The warmth of their relationship was like the warmth of the sun! Truly the resurrection of Mayank's soul depends upon her return.

i just can't explain how much i miss her presence in this now yawnworthy show. the reason is the connection. i can connect so much with them. is like a slice of your own life being shown 😆. the scenes were light and we got few emotional ones too (but thankfully nothing ove the top)
aah the video you posted above! its one of many awsome and favourite scenes! the most simple entry with two mugs of coffee and the irritation in mayank's face which is natural (oh cummon even i get irritated if my mum disturb's me in my last minute study, just tat mayank is all tensed abt tis 'project' of his 😆)..so i say connection 😆 Even if you can't connenct, you cannot deny its charm, and yearn for that in your own life, which is accessible by all, whether male, female, child or parent! It cannot be bought, is as free as their love and absolutely priceless.
later the coffee exchange, "apni wali piyega toh itni nahi lagegi". i don't know y but love tis dialogue, just can't explain why 😆
next the "tujhe nahi pata mein kyun nahi so rahi"..... and the way both complete ech other's sentences...'meri ma aur sawah nau ki local kabhi late nahi hoti' (any guesses y Mr Sharma is so punctual 😆)...
i really love the fact ki they are there for each other, being a single mother she ha no one but him, and same goes for mayu and they both know tat.I said it before, and now I am going to say it again...😆...their troubled past specifics isn't as important as the bond that it engendered.
and the dhamki she gives later on...'mein check karney aungi' lol super cute!! and the cherry on the cake was balon ko mat chuo 😆... i simply love her mother's obsession with his hair (gosh even my mum is obsessed with mine 😆).....I know, what is it with parents and their children's hairstyles? I guess it has to do with control so it becomes an expression of submission or rebellion. 😕 Maybe?
the fact tat mayank becomes a complete child in front of his mum, The chinese have a saying that things are complete through theiropposites. Mayu is adorably cute!!! However he is completed by his opposite Mayank. Their beauty, depth and profoundness depend on the other. A carefully balanced see-saw... ... which both Shilpa Aunty and Nupur love to throw off balance.

like an open book which only his mum can read, cause he believes in doing things on his own 😆....but as they say mom knows evrything.. one indirect help or advice and problem solved 😃
and yup as u say thanks to vaishnavi ji (i see theis thread is dedicated to shilpa aunty..i went n to write abt how awsome the secen u posted is 😆 am sorry for tat) and arjun for bringing life and chemistry to tis wonderful pair tat we hardly see the difference of onscreen and offscreen 😊Credit where credit is due. Both Arjun and Vaishnavi brought those depths, nuances of expressions that made this characters so endearing, i could not see them played by anyone else to this level of perfection!
i want to rite pages and pages...but yeah tis is definately not my last post here.I look forward to it, I hope to get the next update up by the weekend.
thanks a lot for opening this wonderful thread!!Long overdue!!!!

I love this social aspect of MJHT. I have never experienced it before. I am the only person in my district who watches it!

I'm not sure how different this is from the rest of the posts, but there is only so much I can do to stop myself from writing when the topic is as close to my heart as this. Can you imagine my trepidation is psoting this thread. I was so worried about doing justice to these wonderful characters who have garnered the respect of so many respected people!

Shilpa Aunty is undoubtedly one of my favourite characters on Television, but she is also one of those rare mothers on screen (that includes both movies n serials) who are a true reflection of a wonderful parent.Education and entertainment rolled into one!

She even gave mayank that extra depth of character, that addtaionl layer in a manner that was more than if they had showed that Mayank is from a single parent family. Look at the comparison of Bauji. I wish they would have kept Bauji, Bauji of Morena and not Mumbai-sed or city-fied him...
Breezy introductions of main leads and a rather loose premise thats how I saw it, (of which I loved one pair of the leads) its when Shilpa aunty came into the picture that I felt a strange sort of affection to the show itself. I could relate to her, instantly.

He, inturn, grew up faster, as he wanted to be her support faster, In the process, he forgot to enjoy life, which was strange as his mother believed in living life to the fullest.I think he enjoyed returning the love of his mum. To him that satisfied him, it overflowed in his life that they was no need to seek 'enjoyment' elsewhere. However I loved that his mum 'encouraged' him to pursue other 'colours' of love!
The best part of their relationship is ofcourse, that he is a different person with her, (later he was with Nupur as well). He was not rude or indifferent to her, infact he was the best son any mom could ask for.

Perfect.Honesty!!!!It is so integral to Mayank and his mum. That is why he can be so reserved, because the honesty that resides in his heart cannot be contained and will always show upon his face, actions and words, willingly or unwillingly.
He respects women, doesnt find anything wrong in sharing house-hold work (cooks too) and does not treat women like objects. All qualities imbibed in Mayank due to his wonderful mother.
I wish every young boy a mother as wonderful as her then life for women in general would be easier in society.Every man thinks he shows equality to women. However it is more than mere tokens of gestures and sentiments. It is actually and sincerely seeing women as peers, as equals in mind and soul. Shilpa Aunty has realistically given us a model to follow in the upbringing of a son who is instilled with this true quality of seeing women as equals and respecting them as the mothers of our nation.
There is more to come, but then I'll wait for the rest of your posts.
Thank you once again for this wonderful topic. No gratitude, it was my honour and my pleasure. I hope that I am able to do justice to this relationship and character of Shilpa Aunty. I seek God's help and promise to give my utmost best. No shortcuts!😆

Just a quick comment before i vanish for long again-
like divya, for me too,the favourite part was when mayank asks her what she'll have!the fact that these two used to take turns in cooking was just so sweet:)

Also,i love it when we see Mayank with Shilpa aunty for one main reason-we see a different Mayank here...he is just like a small child at times.,he loves her melodrama,he tells her all...his worries,fears...we see a softer side of Mayank Sharma, which is only for the two women in his life, who he loves and respects immensly-Shilpa Sharma, his mom and Nupur Bhushan Sharma, his wife...and life;)

Sonal

edit-
thanks Sabah and Divya! And yup Sabah,i'm still rocking it! And well,i'll go study now...like Mayank should these days...for we both have to fulfill our and our mom's dreams:)

Sabah, Divz, Debo, Sonal, reading everyone's posts here is making me all teary eyed, I don't want to cry but just can't help it, sighhhhhhh how can you all write so beautiful. Thankyou so much guys.
Jess and Sabah, i get it, i guess both of you have a similar understanding of that scene, i agree nandita Nupur has always surprised him at many instances and this was one of them, it was such a beautiful moment, at least i am able to acknowledge it now.
Life full of surprises is worth living for once more, i lovee surprises.
Watching Mayank and mum scenes is making me feel more bad about losing them but then again we should be proud and happy for what we had and what would always remain in our heart.
God bless all.

I am do glad that you commented. I love reading your posts, I love your dry wit! Thank you so very much. me glad that you really did come up with such a wonderful and thought stirring post... i admire your writing flare and ofcourse choice of subject .....

"dry wit"...wow happy that someone likes me for that...otherwise i'm but informed that it shoos away all for my posts😆

"...i love the comparison you drawn with Mr Darcy's character...."

If he had just been a carbon copy, it would have been 'nice' to witness, however Arjun, the creators and other actors, (for do not their reactions, interactions become part of the whole persona of Mayank?) created a whole new awe inspiring character.

yeah it surely could have been a delight but as you said Arjun not just gave face and voice to the character but blood and spirit to it too...and that really is an welcome change

I love P&P, but my all time favourite Jane Austen book is Persuasion. Captain Wentworth may not live up to Darcy/Mayank standards but he has his own charm!

wow great....i'm yet to read this one....like Mayank books are not only my best friends but my first love.....i love reading and Jane Austen has a class and charm of her own...though much criticized for the content and basic storyline of her novels that but mostly revolves around money & matrimony .... i love her take on everyday things....

"....little bit (two inches wide) of ivory on which i work with so fine a brush as produces little effect after much labour "-----Jane Austen

and Mr Darcy happens to be one of the fine most creation in history of male charcters in the women based novel's world

I also preferred Jess' take on that scene. I think if we had never scene Mayank/Shilpa Aunty moments, Mayank Sharma the sweet boyfriend would have become an incorrectly fitted puzzle, but seeing Mayu, the puzzle makes sense.

we really could not relate to boyfriend Mayank if the son Mayank had not come into picture......

if i remember well then on the diwali Nupur too is awestruck seeing a different and homely avtar of Mayank Sharma and she begins hating herself for keeping the truth from him and also admits that she does not ever want to lose him as a friend.

... see na it could have been a bit unrealistic seeing Mayank cook for Nupur if we had not seen him do same for his Mom...aww i love that scene when Mom-Son tell her of the days in a week that each one cooks .... if you noticed the very first day of her visit to the Sharma's home ...nupur was easily included as a family member....remember when they tease her that she is welcome to cook on sundays

"the CVs really have no clue that they have taken out a big chunk out of the very soul of Mjht by keeping Shilpa aunty away"

She was the highlight of every episode she appeared in. She was instrumental in Mayank's development. As were other wonderful and strong female role models, CJ and Tamana Mam. They directed him towards betterment and encouraged that 'shy' Romeo or as we call him 'Mayu' inside of him, to find courage and express himself.

family and upbringing plays the pivotal role in making us who we are....

Can I encourage you to write some ff or even thoughts of Little Mayank and Aunty Shilpa scenes or even post Nupur scenes? I would love to hear people's varying hopes and dreams for these wondrous characters.

me and ff...... trust me you will hate it if i ever did try......😉

i was logging off when i first came across your post i had to answer then ...but sure i'll return with my views on scenes that for me were and still remain as the very backbone of mjht

This scene gives me a very nice feeling when I watch it...

Shilpa Aunty is aware of how Mayank's feelings are changed after Nupur came into his life. She has always teased him about Nupur... but he never told her openly about their growing love... however being a mother, she has noticed the smallest changes in him and his reactions.... But she always gave him his space, respected his privacy.... after the confession night, Mayank was feeling on the top of the world, happy and content....and he is smiling thinking about those moments that he and Nupur shared.... tingling sensation being in love.... and Shilpa watches him smiling... she understands the reason behind his smiles... but as soon as she snaps him out of his thoughts, he goes back to being sadu, akdu Mayank....trying to hide the reason of smiling and trying to change the subject.... love this mother-son conversation.... Shipa keeps asking him indirectly.... toh mai baat pakki samjhu?... but he denies it again... she is smart to understand that he doesn't want to accept openly that him and Nupur are together... she hugs him and says... I'm so happy for you.... just one line... both understand what it meant.... no need to openly talk about the relationship... every parent knows that it's hard for children to openly talk about their love life with their parent... in fact many teenagers try to hide it due to fear of reaction from the parents... but very few parents try to break the ice and reach out to the teenager's heart like a friend... Shilpa is such an inspiring mother....love her....

BRILLIANT post absolutly...i was constantly smiling thorughout reading the way Mayank and Shilpa Aunty's relationship you described...it was amazing...
I wouldn't say too much as everyone here already said it all in a lot better way than i could but Mayu-Shilpa Aunty's scenes are one of the reasons i look forward to MJHT...or used to look forward to it...!!
The first time she was introduced...i was so pleasently surprised to see that cute mom-son scene where the love between them is so obvious....the comfort level...the wonderful relationship they share it all comes out so naturally...!!
She is more like a friend to him....being a single mother....one wonders how she made him the "Mayank" as we see him..!
Like you mentioned...LOL....I honestly wouldn't mind to read a FF titled "The Adventures of Little Mayank..!" in which Nupur can do some or MANY cameos..! hehe
Wow....just thinking about it makes me start grining...!
Him that cute kid with 2 dimples behaving like a know it all and she the little walking talking filmy magazine..!uffff....
I hope someone grabs this idea of yours and starts writing a FF..! hehe
Once again...I loved reading the post...and all the amazing analysis posted by everyone else...!!
