Step Twelve - Reciprocation.
A parent's expectation of reciprocation lies no further than that smile the child wears across his heart!
{Lesson Twelve By Mayank. The action of reciprocation is governed by the law of proportionality. An eye for an eye OR a pearl for a pearl. A generous person might return twice as much, maybe even threefold.
However the law of proportionality is not only inadequate but borders upon insolent in one instance; that is when it relates to your mother's love.}

I love the manner in which despite her long day, feeling very much under the weather, she sincerely smiles upon greeting Mayank at the door. No chastisement over the ration bill, no using her ill health as an excuse to wear a permanent frown. She bears in mind the reason she bears with life's trials; her son's happiness.
On a personal note, I have always loved it when a person takes another's bag and belongings; to me it signifies a physical manifestation of their tacit intent, to bear the burdens of their beloved.
Mayank essays the role of 'parent' once again but is unable to maintain this position for long before being returned to the place that not only suits him best, but that place his heart craves to rest; little Mayu to his mom! That oh! so cute, child-like and sullen face!
"Mou poulat ke bait mat jaana..ke maine itnay pyar se banaya aur tumnay kaiya bhi nahin!"
In the scene previous to this, Mayank announces to CJ his intention to 'delete' his mind and reset himself to 'original' Mayank. He commences this defragmentation by prioritizing his life's duties, firstly his Mother and secondly his studies. However his failure to these responsibilities is not the real reason for that morose face; his heart aches along with his mother's head.
I love that fact that even in her ill health, Shilpa Aunty's 'sass' remains ebullient as ever!
"Maanat ka pal meetha hota hai..pata nahin tum itnay kurvey hoga ho!"
I love the similarities between this scene and the earlier scene with CJ. There CJ and here Mayank both listen to truthful untruths. Both CJ and Mayank do not outwardly scoff at the speaker's comments. There, CJ knows one cannot hide from love, however I also believe that she knows that Mayank knows this fact too, she knows he is not deluded, thereby only a mild look of ludicrousness at Mayank's intents.
Here Mayank lets Shilpa Aunty's retirement plan trump his part time job, not because he believes her words, and I also believe that Shilpa Aunty knows that he does not believe her too, BUT he does believe that he will make her words become truth!
It is love in both the scenes that bind the untruths to future truths.
Once again we are honoured to witness the graceful beauty of Vaishnavi and Arjun, as Mayank 'nurses' his mother back from the brink of tension!
Then that call from destiny to Mayank, reminding him that it is not in his hand to create the ties that bind. That confusion with an added layer of chaos; had Mayank become Rosaline to Nupur's Romeo? I love how the writers scripted, Nupur's straight to the point phone call, no formal greetings cutting immediately to that first perceptively intruding question!
That irrepressible smile creeping over 'focused' Mayank's face, mind and heart signifying a deep truth; although for most men the way to their heart is through their stomachs, for Mayank is not! Surprisingly it is neither through his mind. For Mayank, the way to this heart is through this heart.
The queen of his heart has always been Shilpa Aunty. Her generosity makes ample room in that most guarded and distinctly remarkable vessel for Nupur. This generous spirit of Shilpa Aunty's suffuses Mayank's soul, saturating him, deep into his core so that all his actions are imbued by it. For when he warns Nupur not to come crying to him when things fail upon her, it is his who returns to her; when destiny interrupts his sincere and goodly life's goals with a road block, he routes out a new scenic journey; when Bauji thrusts upon him the 'burden' of love, he adjusts the scales and finds therein balance.
This is how Shilpa Aunty's radiance lights up Mayank's soul. This is the truth of goodness, love and light; it overflows through our sinews, veins and blood, overwhelming our souls and cores looking for new avenues to freely flow upon; so that when it is our turn to reciprocate it is never proportional but exponential.
Sabah, Another loving step from your side.
The way in which Mayank truly reflects how much he truly loves his mother and respects her and as to how important she is in his life is shown here.
Another thing which captured my heart was the retirement plan. How easily they talk about their future. Also another thing is reflected how much of trust Shilpa Aunty has on Mayank. Her reference to her son being a hot shot business tycoon one day is quite encouraging.
This is mainly because Shilpa Aunty has always treated Nupur as her daughter as well. Mayank and Nupur have never been different for her. She has been a mother to both. And one thing which was quite sweet was Nupur's readiness to instantly do what she dislikes most -- stop talking.
So Sabah these were my opinions. My apologies because my posts aren't always up to the mark because somehow I feel I simply repeat what you said in different words. But trust me that is just because you sum up everything so beautifully yourself that there is hardly room for anything to be said.
hey sabah first of all an awesooooooome scene dear so hats off to u for this i must tell u that this is the most beautiful scene i have ever read between mayank and shilpa aunty and this shows that shilpa aunty is so caring and really a doting mom i mean these lines expresses that for a mother her child's happiness and health matters the most and whatever may be the condition or circumstances and no matter what the priority of her life is mayank..........this is the beautiful and the most sacred relationship that a mother and a child shares a special bonding beyond anything. oh god this little mayu i am loving him from the core of my heart u have portrayed this one very well indeed. mayank has always been a mature and an understanding person as shown by u in the previous talk with CJ and now he thinks that he has lost himself but i am sure that shilpa aunty will help him to deal with this one too she is the best mom anyone can get and such a cute and lovable saas aajkal toh dhoondne se bhi nahin milti hain.........'mehnat ka phal meetha hota hai, pata nahin tum kyun itne karwey ho gaye ho'........aur mujhe pata hai ki humaari pyaari shilpa aunty is karawahat ko phir se mithaas mein ghol dengi...........
It is love in both the scenes that bind the untruths to future truths. i absolutely loved this line ......Originally posted by: Dee.Mayur_Arti
Sabah, Another loving step from your side.
This is truly one of the most beautiful Mayank-Shilpa Aunty scenes.I agree it ranks along side their first scene within my heart. The way in which Mayank truly reflects how much he truly loves his mother and respects her and as to how important she is in his life is shown here.Very well expressed. đđđ
In an age where people are taught that happiness is proportional to the distance FROM your parents, this was not only refreshingly but endearing.
The way the door opens and they each greet the other with a smile is heartwarming. Just like you I have always found this action of one taking the things from the other's hand when they enter very charming. It signifies how the other is all willing to carry the other's burden in this hustle and bustle of the world.True, na? I have always loved it. My sister is of the opinion that you should carry your own things, especially NOT letting men carry your bag, but for me it is about letting another into your life. We don't WANT to burden others with our burdens, but we should LET them express their love so that when we want to reciprocate, they will LET us too.
It is hard to be weak in front of another, so most people cut off support from this root, but we also cut off our support.Another thing truly worth mentioning is Shilpa Aunty's classic dialogue, "Mehnat ka phal to meetha hota hai pata nahin tum kyun itne karwe ho gaye" (excuse my horrible way of writing Hindi in English) This was one dialogue that had me in splits. Shilpa Sharma never fails to wow anyone with her wit even when she isn't feeling quite up to the mark. It is about finding harmony in an often chaotic world full of people with their own world view. My hindi, is terrible! But i love this little spark too in the midst of aching hearts. The tiny fragments in the scene where Mayank goes on to act as the authority, the parent, are truly truly wonderful and heartwarming. But soon he goes back to being like you said "his mom's little mayu"The way our parents can reduce us to little kids with one word or look, is amazing, but very much wanted!Another thing which captured my heart was the retirement plan. How easily they talk about their future. Also another thing is reflected how much of trust Shilpa Aunty has on Mayank. Her reference to her son being a hot shot business tycoon one day is quite encouraging.I liked this point too, thanks for bringing it up! đ
She always has had an optimistic attitude, which is very commendable considering their turbulent past. Most tv shows would have shown how this had made them bitter, weak, afraid of the future! I really cannot praise MJHT creators for giving us such good roles models against crowds of pessimism!
Now for the clash of fire and ice. Nupur's phone call. I have always admired how whenever in a reference to herself Nupur's call herself the "gaon(village) ki gori" and Mayank the "shehar ka larka". Much to Mayank's relief Nupur was talking about Gunjan. The worry in Nupur's eyes upon hearing about Shilpa Aunty's illness is so captivating.Again well noted! đâď¸
That is what I loved about the main characters in MJHT, their hearts are alive, so that the subtlest things are able to touch them! This is mainly because Shilpa Aunty has always treated Nupur as her daughter as well. Mayank and Nupur have never been different for her. She has been a mother to both. And one thing which was quite sweet was Nupur's readiness to instantly do what she dislikes most -- stop talking.Very well noted! đOf course, after diwali, Nupur has annexed Mayank's mom for herself. Even on the internationsl meet, when they discuss her credentials for Mayank's girlfriend, she says that HIS mom would take HER side, even back then!
Followed by a war of words between the two thus the phone call ends with Nupur melting Mayank's heart and reigniting the felings he has been trying so hard to hide. Nupur's words of love and care for Shilpa Aunty followed by one of Mayank's true smiles are just marvelous. I love how Nupur orders Mayank to take care of Shilpa Aunty and assuring him of her prayers ends the call finally leaving Mayank Sharma's heart in jeopardy again. In a battle with his brain.WOndrful âď¸đwell said!
This was just genius. This is why MJHT has a special place in my heart forever. For these moments are worth all the 'ghum' that followed. Even knowing the future, i would sign up for the pain over and over, just for this moment...how does it goes in DCH, that Nupur's quotes, unless that was one of my FF in my head...đ
Love is willing to die ten thousand deaths to have one moment with your beloved! The last thing in my post would have to be a mention to that frame holding Mayank and Shilpa Aunty's picture. It looks so mesmerising and so pure and beautiful. A mother's love clearly being reflected in her son's eyes.Beautiful note! đđđSo Sabah these were my opinions. My apologies because my posts aren't always up to the mark because somehow I feel I simply repeat what you said in different words. But trust me that is just because you sum up everything so beautifully yourself that there is hardly room for anything to be said. No, you added your own voice. Thanks for sharing, I loved all your points. They made sent me into contemplation, whereas most of people's comments send me into a daze of disturbance!
A job well done again. All the best for the next step. Will wait impatiently. The next one will be a little fragmented, so might take a little longer...just waiting to find time so that I can give it full attention and justice!Love,DaaniaLove returned and a little extra Sabah đł
