Why doesn't Mayank have any friends?? - Page 4

One can have a lot of admirers, colleagues, peers w/o labeling them as friends. Since we now know that Mayank's standard of friendship is pretty high (trust is the basis of his relationship), no wonder he creates an aura around himself which he doesn't allow many people to penetrate.

So superficially he can be talking to many people, but deep down he cares only for a selected few. Which is why he took the extra effort to cheer up Nupur ( by taking her to the beach) when she had a tiff with Gunjan. So, no he is not arrogant, just reserved and selective.

errr..I'm tellin ya y.....hez smart I mean he is always the perfect dude for study, honesty and in anything......everyone luks at him in a different way....he is a lot matured than the others....this is the main reason....

On a less sarcastic note, I have to say I agree with what Samera and Jenny wrote. Mayank has friends, it just that they are not always hanging out together or follow him blindly. Moreover, as far as we have seen, he is popular. That gives him the advantage to make friends easily. But maybe he takes time to trust people, and CJ is the one who he has found most trustworthy till now. He also trusted Nupur, but she broke his trust. He is being very harsh on her, but just because we are witnessing both Nupur's and Mayank's point of view, we are saying that Mayank is being too harsh on her.

But really, once trust is broken, its not easy to trust someone again like before. So how can Mayank forgive her and make her friend, when he himself chooses friends so carefully???

Basically, he has the opportunity to make friends......but due to certain nature, most likely being 'search for trustworthy people😉' he jsut doesnt go on making friends with anyone and everyone.

Anyways, sarcasm aside, I totally agree with your assesment.....Mayank is a loner, not necessarily a 'bechara' who doesn't have friends.....just a person who doesn't go around calling every lallu panju a friend....or babes😛😆.......and yes, he has big time trust issues.....that is not the mark of 'freak' with no friends.....it's just a human fallacy like others....he may appear too 'harsh' on Nupur now, but it's a defense mechanism in many ways to prevent himself from getting hurt again by trusting the wrong person.

In short, one of the better sketched characters in this show with ACTUAL depth to him.....whether the creatives allow that to remain or massacre his character, time only will tell😆

Agree. He has trust issues.. that was evident from the way he reacted to the Nupur issue. He doesnt want to trust the wrong people and get hurt himself. I dont like it either wen people think he is arrogant or proud blah blah.. he just doesn't befriend everyone. Its reserve, not attitude. Once bitten twice shy maybe.

Exactly, debby! It's reserve....and also the fact that 90% of the college DOES consist of flighty airheads! I mean look at them! I would never want to be friends with a superficial bunch like that either! CJ's one of the cooler, more individualistic ppl, plus she has a good sense of humor....so obviously she'd be one of the rare ppl he'd consider a friend!

As for Nupur, she was like a ray of shunshine in his life.....she turned everything topsy-turvy for him, and kind of swept him along into really coming to trust her and care for her in his own way.....so when the illusion broke, the pain was but obvious.

Anyways, I'm guessing that time has mellowed his hurt and anger now and the exams and the letter will be a turning point in the MN relationship.

Is it just me or is Mayank sounding like the modern and more natural version of Mr.Darcy (whom, no one shall say a word against, coz I love Mr.Darcy😆).

Mr.Darcy was reserved but offen his reserved nature was misunderstood as Pride and Arrogance. That he considered others inferior. But as Mr.Darcy, nicely clarified it to Elizabeth, that his pride isnt improper and as for the fact of him not being that friendly, his talkative nature is not that well practiced and that he is reserved. But he is perfectly pleasant among those people who knows him.

@Mels: Totally! He deffo has shades of Mr.Darcy! And I love Mr.Darcy too, so don't worry, you won't catch me saying anything against him.....LOL

I think these are classic traits in the heroes of classic literary novels....the 'misunderstood' hero, the heroine who constantly misunderstands him and considers him arrogant and stuff, until TRUE LOWE finally prevail! :P LOL
