Bigg Boss 19's Amaal Mallik reveals how his BREAKUP inspired song won Arjit Singh a FILMFARE AWARD

Popular singer and composer Amaal Mallik recently opened up about the emotional experience that inspired one of his most memorable songs. During his time on Bigg Boss 19, where he occasionally reflected on personal moments, Amaal revealed that his soulful track "Roke Na Ruke Naina" from the 2017 film Badrinath Ki Dulhania came from a place of deep heartbreak.

The movie, which featured Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in lead roles, included this emotionally rich song composed by Amaal. He revealed that it was written during a painful phase in his life. “I was going through a breakup and was supposed to go on a trip when Shashank gave me this song. I initially said no, as I was about to leave, but he told me to work on it through the trip,” he shared.

Amaal went on to say that a specific part of the song carries immense emotional value for him. “It was a final disconnection for us, we weren’t supposed to meet again. That’s when I wrote, ‘Haathon ki lakeere do milti jahan hai, jisko pata hai bata de, jagah wo kahan hai.’”

He also spoke about how quickly the song came together in the studio, thanks to singer Arijit Singh. “Arijit was supposed to record this, and my friends were waiting to meet him. He just came, recorded within 20 minutes, and those very 20 minutes won him the Filmfare,” Amaal recalled.

Earlier, Amaal had spoken publicly about the relationship that ended due to religious differences. The couple had been under pressure from their families, which eventually led to the breakup. The emotional toll was significant, especially for his former partner, whose health reportedly suffered as a result.

He also recounted a touching yet painful moment from the past. His ex had once called him before her wedding, begging him to attend. She told him that she wouldn’t go through with the marriage if he didn’t show up. Despite the emotional weight of the call, Amaal chose not to attend, saying he did so out of respect for his parents’ wishes.
