Next morning: Excel College
It is the day of the much awaited Talent Parade. The college campus is fully decorated and a festive ambience is all over. Groups of students can be seen rehearsing their respective performances. Many heads turn as Dia enters the scene, wearing a pretty pink gown, much unlike her usual skimpy clothes. She walks up to Miss Aha who is busy with some last minute preparations.

Dia: Good morning Miss Aha!
Aha: (with a big smile) Good morning Dia! Aaj tum bahut pyari lag rahi ho.
Dia: thank u Ma'am. Aap bhi. Maine sab performances ki sequence lists ready kar di thi aur Annie ne apko
de di hogi, right?
Aha: yes of course Dia. Tumne bahut mehnat ki hai. I am sure aaj ka event bahut successful hoga.
Dia: undoubtedly Ma'am. Main sound arrangements check karke aati hu.
Aha: sure.

Dia turns to leave, saying to herself: Aaj ka event sach me bahut special hone wala hai. Dodo ne kaha tha
ki Sammy mujhe aaj surprise dega..jitna time usne planning me lagaya hai, zarur kuch bahut hi khaas hai. I am sure wo mujhe propose karega..finally! (big smile..)

Cut to: Gunjan and Nupur at home
The sisters are getting ready for college.

Gunjan: di, kaunsa suit better lagega..mujhe toh samajh me hi nahi aa raha.
(Nupur is lost in thoughts)
Gunjan: batao na jaldi..di..dii!!
Nupur: haan? Oh sorry Gunjan..um, koi bhi pehan le. Tujhpe toh dono ache lagenge.
Gunjan: (smiles) thik hai. Phir main blue wala pehan leti hu. Aur tum bhi jaldi tayyar ho jao..der ho jaayegi.
Nupur: uh..Gunjan, sun. Mayank aa toh jaayega na?
Gunjan: haan di. Tum dono ne kitne dance rehearsals kiye hai. Aayega kaise nahi?
Nupur: haan par..usne kaha tha ke..aur wo kal final rehearsal par bhi toh nahi aaya.
Gunjan: arey di..kal ki baat chodo, naraaz hoga. Par aaj aa hi jaayega. Waise tumhe doubt hai toh use phone karke puch lo na.
Nupur: haan, tu sahi keh rahi hai Gunjan. Main phone kar leti hu thik hai.

(Gunjan nods and leaves to get ready while Nupur dials Mayank's residence. The phone rings for a while
and then someone picks it up..)

Cut to Mayank's home
Mayank is in his room with a book open in front of him. Its been a half hour since he turned a page. His thoughts are broken by the ringing of the phone. He rushes to pick it only to find his Mom standing beside the phone.

Mom: don't worry, phone abhi bhi baj raha hai. Utha le.
Mayank: Mujhe phone uthane me koi interest nahi hai Ma. Wo toh iski awaz se mujhe distraction ho rahi thi. Plz utha lo isse pehle ke mere sir me dard ho jaaye.
Mom: oh ho ho! Toh tu mujhe yeh batane yaha daudte daudte aaya tha?
Mayank: Ma aap phone utha rahe ho ya nahi?

(The phone stops ringing.)

Mayank: (disappointed but not showing it) thank God. Ma receiver hook se nikalke rakh do. Mujhe bahut important kaam khatam karna hai.

(Soon after he had gone back into his room, the phone rings again and this time his Mom picks it.)

Mom: hello!
Nupur: (hestitates) uh..aunty..main Nupur bol rahi hu.
Mom: haan beta..mujhe pata tha tum ho.
Nupur: apko kaise pata chala aunty?
Mom: wo chodo..yeh batao, kya hua?
Nupur: aunty, wo aaj college me talent parade hai..aur Mayank aur main dance karne wale the..
Mom: the? Ab nahi karoge kya? Jis din se mujhe Mayank ne bataya tha, main badi excited hu!
Nupur: usne apko bataya tha? Matlab wo aayega na?
Mom: ayega kyun nahi?
Nupur: aunty.. actually hamara jhagda..wo project..agar mujhe pehle pata hota toh main..
Mom: Arey, itna mat daro. Mujhe sab pata hai.
Nupur: apko pata hai? Aunty I am sorry..mujhse galti ho gayi.
Mom: dekho beta, galti toh hui hai par galti toh sab karte hai na? Mayank ne baat ko zara zyada seriously le liya. Use toh tum jaanti hi ho. Par main use mana lungi..tum chinta mat karo.
Nupur: Aap sach me use mana loge? Wo khadoos toh..mera matlab hai..
Mom: (laughs) khadoos hai..par main bhi uski ma hu! Tum college jao, Mayank ko main mana lungi.
Nupur: thik hai aunty..(happily) thank u!

(Mayank has overheard the conversation. As his Mom keeps the phone and turns around...)

Mayank: toh aap mujhe mana loge Ma? Aisa kabhi nahi hoga.
Ma: (in mock anger) phone pe baatein sun raha tha, ganda bacha!
Mayank: ma aap plz phir se Nupur ki baat leke mat shuru ho jana. Main talent parade me nahi jaane wala. (Turns to leave..)
Mom: haan haan tu kyun jaayega? Muh fulaye baitha hai ke Nupur kab phone karegi aur karti hai toh baat nahi karta.
Mayank: (makes a face)
Mom: dekh Mayu..main maanti hu usne jhuth bolke ya khud report na banake galti ki. Par uski baato se laga ki use sach me us baat ka afsos hai.
Mayank: use koi afsos nahi hai Ma. Wo aisa sirf isliye kar rahi hai taaki main dance me aa jau.
Mom: (thinks back to Diwali day) nahi Mayank. Sach batau toh mujhe Nupur bahut saaf dil ki lagi..usse ek galti ho gayi bas. Arey ek galti toh khuda bhi maaf kar deta hai. (wonders) waise khuda Mayank jitna khadoos toh nahi hoga..
Mayank: Ma!
Mom: kya Ma Ma? Ab is baat ko bhul bhi ja. Us bechari ka dil mat tod.
Dekh mujhe office k liye late ho raha hai. Jaldi se tayyar ho aur college chala ja. Nahi toh teri khaer nahi!
(smiles) bye beta!
Mayank: (quietly) Bye Ma.

(Mayank goes to shut the door behind her and wonders what to do...)

Outside the audi
(Samrat is standing alone, impatiently waiting for Gunjan to arrive. Suddenly Benji comes up from behind him and screams in his ear)

Benji: Weeooohh!! Weeooohh!!
Samrat: (jumps) Benji! Alarm ki tarah kyun baj raha hai?
Benji: Alarm nahi dude, Gunjan sensor baj raha hai.
Samrat: huh?
Benji: Zara nazar toh ghumaiye..(holds Samrat's head and turns it around..Gunjan is walking towards the audi, looking the picture of simplicity and grace in a new, blue salwar suit and a smile on her lips..) aa rahi hai maidan me aapki priya chasmish!

(Samrat looks at Gunjan intently, with admiration and eyes full of affection..while the MJHT violin tune goes on in the background and in his heart too! Gunjan looks up to see him looking at her and the two can't take their eyes off each other..)

Benji: aur Samrat ji ki nazre Gunjan ji par se hatne ka naam nahi le rahi hai. Ab sawaal yeh hai ke aaj pratiyogita gaane ki hai hai ya nazre milane ki hai..

(Samrat snaps out of his dream..caught unaware)
Samrat: Benji, chashmish ka gaana important hai kyunki mujhe Dia se shart har haal me jeetni hai..warna Samrat chashmish me itna interest kyun leta?

Benji: ab iska jawab khiladi ko apne dil se puchna chahiye..ya phir usse jise dil de diya hai!

(He gets quiet as Gunjan walks up to him..he shooes Benji away.)
