@bold- haan, it's a bit weird. Is it just because she's a woman, and isn't submissive in front of him like he believes women should be? Raghav, as a powerful man, is a worthy opponent. Pallavi, as a woman, is just an annoyance, and how dare she talk back to him?

Yes bcoz she's a woman. His dialogues like yeh ladliyon ki lagam kaske rakhni chahiye, nagin, vidhwa gareeb, samajhti kya hai, bhes ki aankh, saali, hur ki pari, Teri jaisi chhattis ladkiya.... Nowadays a days I just skip Sunny's dialogues bcoz listening to this is so uncomfortable. But he was also very disrespectful towards amma after spoiling her tattoo.

I wonder why such a badtameez person is being all Bro Bro towards lion. First I thought he will be a positive character when he helped raghav get to the station and was giving him advice in coffee shop. Now I can't stand such a mysoginist toxic guy. Look at the way Raghav treats his wife with respect and Sunny toh kirti ko naukrani bana ke rakhega. Sunny doesn't respect kirti. Sunny doesn't even respect his own parents. He says things like sunta toh main apne baap ki bhi nahi. 🙄

Sunny was growing to be such an interesting character, especially bcz of how similar he was to Raghav. I was waiting to see them clash, and I was esp looking forward to how amma and Pallu react to him. Would they give him a pass and see his potential to be a better man, like they see with Raghav? Will Raghav give him that chance instead, bcz he knows how it feels to be judged based on outward behaviour? I also liked the dynamics between Sunny and Pallavi, it was like a begrudging relationship being formed. He did respect her, and she was starting to see him as a better person. I was hoping to see that bond develop. His first misogynistic comment for Keerti came as a total letdown, and since then, his character went for a toss His behaviour with Pallavi changed completely Honestly, I wish they used some other way to introduce Lion, and Sunny could be a helping hand for Raghvi, just like he was in the jewelry case. I wanted them to start seeing him in a new light. And I wanted him to see and appreciate it, and finally start believing in family and relationships again. It could've been so beautifully done, but they just deliberately ruined his character And Keerti's along with it! 😡

I loved your whole post, but this part is the most perfect 💯💯

Atrocious, unforgivable behaviour by both, but what's telling to me, personally, is who they directed their behaviour at? For Raghav, it was directed at his enemy, the person responsible for miseries that have befallen the people he loves. For Sunny, he directed this at his girlfriend who he claims to love, who loves him back unconditionally.

You did get my name right! Sharing it with a beloved character probably helps, and I still want to know which one! (I have a suspicion and I need it confirmed :P)

I agree with everything. I am still pretty compelled by Sunny's character, even as an antagonist if that's where they're going. But the wasted potential here is huge. I wanted Sunny and Pallavi to form a tenuous alliance for Kirti's sake, they have such an interesting chemistry. I thought I saw a hint of respect when she had figured their relationship out before even Raghav did. I liked them pairing up for the necklace thing. I figured he could have been a catalyst for Raghav/Kirti too, seeing he got a rare glimpse into a vulnerable Raghav the night he took him to the station. Ugh, my heart breaks thinking of lost potential. I can go on and on forever about all the directions this character could have taken.

For me, the point of no return was the threat to commit suicide if she doesn't run away with him, and then this misogyny this week...ugh. I guess they could still bring him back, but I don't see them investing that much in a side character, so realistically, he is an out and out antagonist now.

We were discussing earlier on this thread only, that they've made Sunny a bali ka bakra by having him voice out everything aggressively as a source of exposition for Ved.

The part you highlight in bold was the biggest point of divergence for me as well, and I'm glad it's resonated with you and others as well. I've been seeing loads of comparisons between the two, both in show and out of it, and I think this is the point that's been preventing me from drawing that parallel so far. I think the entire point of my thesis here was to help me find the words to say it, because while I was feeling something there, I couldn't find the words till I started typing.

Honestly, I think they were going for a track of him having a rough past experience with love, which is why he hates and mistrusts all women, hence the MCP traits, and that one reference to a particular woman in a super early episode, but they then changed his back story (to the much better Krishna Rao angle), and dropped the entire angle there- both the misogyny, and the fact that we've had no second reference to 'that girl' in a 100+ episodes.

With Sunny, they deliberately made the character have somewhat similar traits, troubled past, no ITV ML can ever have a normal childhood btw..anger, ego and all.. but with the blatant, in your face misogyny traits that they showcased in his recent behavior, is as if to tell the audience, this is how his characters are different..and now I don't think anyone can be on the fence about Sunny..

Yeah, I agree on this. Unless Sunny is given a huge growth arc, which makes no sense to me plot wise, he's an out and out antagonist now.

They did mention that ek ladki ki wajah se something happened 10 years ago, which caused death of his father and brother, but they scrapped it and brought Krishna Rao

Agree with you. I saw this show later when I caught Raghav being overwhelmed and Pallavi in the next episode asks him to kill her and he has the conversation with Farhad - do you still see goodness in me. So my take might be different as I did not see the truck wala episode when it aired. When I decided to watch the show I saw all the episodes at one stretch - the episode before the truck scene comes you have Raghav's mother being harassed and falls down due to the accusations. I can get that he was angry - plus in the 7th episode itself they showed how much he craves to be with his family when his mother denies him the right to attend the Shradh of his father and younger brother. I guess since I saw the episodes at one shot, I didn't find it too bad as the base was there and you know what triggered the reaction from Raghav. Had I seen it from the beginning one episode per day maybe I would have felt different. Plus with Raghav they always had Farhad as voice of reason so you know why he is doing those things. Sunny comes across as blank canvas - there is no backstory neither are his actions justified in any manner. That is where the characters differ for me.

He is a temporary character so I dont think there's time to redeem him and show any character growth arc.. I think they are gonna wrap it up in coming weeks with Keerthi Raghav reconciliation and Ved/Mandhar taking over..

Haha, that's precisely the episode I started warming up to Raghav! And when I got invested in the show, I was watching pretty casually and disengaged till then.

I understand why Raghav did what he did too, but I guess my point of disagreement is that just because an action is understandable, it isn't justifiable, if that makes sense?

Sunny toh wasted potential hai. Kya hi kahun ab, I was so keen on his character, and kachra kar diya. I feel bad for Kush, who's genuinely talented.

Also, l'll add another of my two cents here 😆

1. Raghav's misogyny: Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only time I remember was his first encounter with Pallavi. And I think it was him generalising Anjali's trashy behaviour that night and criticising Pallavi with it. He only called her a bad driver initially, and I couldn't disagree bcz she really was driving that scooty ridiculously 🤪😆 (bad driving has nothing to do with being a girl though, Raghav ) And after that, whatever he said... again it was misogynistic and I didn't like it, but I think it was more an attempt to threaten her out of his way after Harish confirmed her identity. It's unfortunate, but girls do have a greater fear for their safety when walking alone at night. If someone as powerful as RR threatens a girl like that, they will most likely stay well out of his way — and that was his plan. Isi liye wo dhamkake chala ja raha tha, but ofc humari Shivaji bhakt ko darne ke bajay lecture chalu karna tha 😆 And that too insulting his birth and shaming his parents Aur kya tha, phoot gaya RR ka time bomb.. jala diya stock

The drunk scene where he carried Pallavi, he made it clear that he did respect strong self-respecting women — and with a mother like that, it's what I'd expect of him. But I don't suppose he'd ever really met women of that kind before, so he remained skeptical. It's why I loved that little dialogue, it proved that he'd already started seeing Pallu for the kind of girl she was, and even admired her for it, even though he wouldn't admit it to himself bcz he has a building-sized ego. It's why I loved the next morning scene even more, bcz he was in disbelief over his own actions 🤣 He couldn't believe that he'd saved her and not left her on a train 🤣 It added layers to his personality, and in a way that nothing contradicted each other. Usually these attempts tend to stick out like a sore thumb, very odd and sudden and out of place, but here it fit in perfectly. At least to me.

2. Raghav's behaviour towards his staff: Yes, he was quite rude initially, but I thought it went well with his Don aura — someone angry and violent and used to being obeyed to the T. Pallavi was right — he hardly carries that don vibe anymore 😆 We're all free to criticise his initial behaviour, but I for one found it refreshing that the ruthlessness was on point. I know I wouldn't have been convinced with a well-mannered don 😆 Also, his rudeness with his staff made Farhad's special place very evident. Right from "Ek tu hi hai jo jaanta hai kab kya chahiye mujhe" to breaking down completely in front of him.

Nothing more to add, ye 2 cents kuch zyada hi lamba ho gaya 🤪 I do agree with whatever you said, this is just my own viewpoint of seeing it. Ofc irl this kind of behaviour is a total red flag, but yaha I love him and I'm married to him smiley42smiley36

Again, fabulous post! 👏
