Also, l'll add another of my two cents here 😆
1. Raghav's misogyny: Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only time I remember was his first encounter with Pallavi. And I think it was him generalising Anjali's trashy behaviour that night and criticising Pallavi with it. He only called her a bad driver initially, and I couldn't disagree bcz she really was driving that scooty ridiculously 🤪😆 (nothing to do with being a girl though ) And after that, whatever he said... again it was misogynistic and I didn't like it, but I think it was more an attempt to threaten her out of his way after Harish confirmed her identity. It's unfortunate, but girls do have a greater fear for their safety when walking alone at night. If someone as powerful as RR threatens a girl like that, they will most likely stay well out of his way — and that was his plan. Isi liye wo dhamkake chala ja raha tha, but ofc humari Shivaji bhakt ko darne ke bajay lecture chalu karna tha 😆 And that too insulting his birth and shaming his parents Aur kya tha, phoot gaya RR ka time bomb.. jala diya stock
The drunk scene where he carried Pallavi, he made it clear that he did respect strong self-respecting women — and with a mother like that, it's what I'd expect of him. But I don't suppose he'd ever really met women of that kind before, so he remained skeptical. It's why I loved that little dialogue, it proved that he'd already started seeing Pallu for the kind of girl she was, and even admired her for it, even though he wouldn't admit it to himself bcz he has a building-sized ego. It's why I loved the next morning scene even more, bcz he was in disbelief over his own actions 🤣 He couldn't believe that he'd saved her and not left her on a train 🤣 It added layers to his personality, and in a way that nothing contradicted each other. Usually these attempts tend to stick out like a sore thumb, very odd and sudden and out of place, but here it fit in perfectly. At least to me.
2. Raghav's behaviour towards his staff: Yes, he was quite rude initially, but I thought it went with his Don aura well — someone angry and violent and used to being obeyed to the T. Pallavi was right — he hardly carries that don vibe anymore 😆 We're all free to criticise his initial behaviour, but I for one found it refreshing that the ruthlessness was on point. I know I wouldn't have been convinced with a well-mannered don 😆 Also, his rudeness with his staff made Farhad's special place very evident. Right from "Ek tu hi hai jo jaanta hai kab kya chahiye mujhe" to breaking down completely in front of him.
Nothing more to add, ye 2 cents kuch zyada hi lamba ho gaya 🤪 I do agree with whatever you said, this is just my own viewpoint. Ofc irl this kind of behaviour is a total red flag, but yaha I love him and I'm married to him
Again, fabulous post! 👏
I don't think we're really disagreeing here! And I always love reading your thoughts, so please always give your two or more cents. I'm the last person who gets to complain about brevity, since I'm apparently unable to write anything shorter than a thesis.
1. Yeah, it was a super early trait, and I think they were planning to go further with it, but dropped it with the switch from the ex back story to thr Krishna Rao story. Whatever he said was like in the first 7-8 episodes, so I typically just ignore it, because I think they were still developing the character back then. The scene where he's drunk and she's unconscious is the final nail in the coffin of this character trait. It never, ever resurfaced.
2. I agree! I expect him to be like this with his staff, even if I don't like watching it. It is who he is. Again, I think they stabilized on a good balance between ruthless and abusive wrt his staff fairly soon, within the first 15 episodes I guess, so I don't take it seriously.
Both these points, I bring up today because they've been a prominent part of the Sunny/Raghav comparisons, hence me rehashing them.
