Please keep the gunpowder away from my Adi, or else he is going to implode with all the fireworks that are lighting up around him
Bechara, he is not getting a moment's rest in this cursed home, the women keeping throwing one-one grenade at him daily. At this rate, he will need to quit politics and join the army to get some stealth guerilla training
And then there is the Classic Second Hand Salesman Vidya
So Miss Buy One Gave Away One Free is defending Ms See One Take One Away Free to the heir. Really, you mad sir? You mad? Why, did you not use the Get Out of Jail Scot Free Card yourself? The heir almost choked on the redemption policy. Get Out of Jail Scot Free Card. Lady, have you lost your rocker? I was in for a misdemeanour, she is in for Grand Larceny (stealing away my mother's rights, her sister's trust, our family's suk chen and the whole damn shebang). Did you think I got away scot free? I have been released on probation after I got my you know what handed to me on a platter by the Jhakar Mahila Samiti. Madam See One Take One Away Free over here not only robbed the store, she even got a lifetime membership card and an appreciation award from my Saintly mom for her kaand.
And then the Fat Lady Sang
And you knew the curtain was coming down soon. Man did she sing... She sang, beat her chest, then forced poor Adi to kill her because she could not kill herself to face her shame. So let me see, she wants to commit the crime, she wants a slap on the wrist, an Affairs Anonymous Jhakar Women's Club to regain her shattered equilibrium and now she wants Adi to kill her so that she does not have to watch a daily tape of her most disgraceful final act. Hmmm... Sorry M'am, time to ACTUALLY PAY the piper as opposed to just acknowledging that you pirated the music in a humble neither here nor there way. (I think of all the twists in the show Uttara's has been the worst for me. I adored her relationship with Adi. They were so much fun to watch. This is just horrible to watch)
Was Adi so Wrong? I think not. Knowing your favourite aunt and the father you adored committed such a heinous act of betrayal with you and the family and having to live with the proof of it daily are two different things. Was he wrong in his emotional outburst and once again being lied to by the women in this family. In my opinion, no. But then to each his own.
Was Vidya right? Adi's anger will cool down like usually. Probably. Actually I think seeing his favourite masi so upset might actually get his mercurial temperature down. But was Vidya right about him being angry? I think not. He is not angry. He is deeply hurt at their betrayal. His anger is an expression of how deeply he is hurt. He might not show it later if he forgives her but he will surely feel it for a long time coming. Vidya is not so intuitive after all I fear. Besides, Brahma is Adi's father and Vidya's DIL. Adi's hurt as a son cannot be compared to Vidya's shame as a DIL. No comparison.
Will Priya help? Maybe. Will she forgive? I don't think so. She will find it difficult to side with the person who betrayed her mother's trust. She truly treats Devyani as her mother. It is only when Uttara supported Devyani in the divorce court that Priya forgave her. Till then she was disgusted by her act and angry at her.
I think we might see Devyani supporting Uttara (sisterly love), Adi grudgingly accepting the pregnancy (his favourite aunt), Priya not being so forgiving (understandably so). And then again, I have been known to be wrong by CVs in the past.
If we expect a man to punish another man when has done wrong, in a similar tone, A woman should not support a woman who has done wrong just because she is a woman. Men and women are equal. They both know right from wrong. A punishment that is good for the gander must surely also be considered and meted out to the goose.
