@Shelly ... nice to meet u too 🤗 do pardon me for using ids to respond since i m pathetic at remembering names 😭
N even i find Gauravs personality that of one u wuld want in ur life partner.. esp tho even for pretense sakes.. he greeted his in laws.. then had a hale n hearty time wit them n also his talk with Vidhya... quite sweet... but then we also know that he isnt being transparent wit her... may be in a SMALL way *dun kill me for saying this* using her innocence to keep her at a distance from himself...
And guys however phobic i sound..i so dun want him to b Gay 😭 😭 😭
Btw i luv the aspect of abuse u hv brought in........👏 nice..!!!
Btw guys. ..any of u think that the Maha epi..may b too much on noise n little on substance...... ?? *My past experiences wit SP...make me want to expect little out of it*

November 18, 2010 - Thursday

Today started exactly where yesterday finished, with the Devyani - Gaurav argument. I am sure one of you will soon ask me to stuff it with the "fan girl" praise for the screenplay, but this scene was a perfect example of how a solid character consistency is maintained while writing dailies such this. 😳 Going back a bit, the only reason why Gaurav's character's going along with a marriage to Vidya made any sense to me was the importance of his mother in his life and today reflected that. I love how the writers don't spoon feed the obvious till the right moment. While Gaurav is angry about Devyani's interference in his life, his love for her overrides everything else. Like he expresses eloquently, Devyani is his only friend...the one person he can be himself with and without her presence in his life, it is incomplete. At the same time, Devyani is not willing to relent and reminds Gaurav that Vidya left her life behind when she married him. But...her final assertion that Gaurav had to fulfill his responsibilities by forgetting his previous relationship is overheard by Vidya! Wonderful sequence...well scripted and wonderfully emoted.

Meanwhile in Ghaziabad, Priya's father applies some medicine on Aditya's wound and they exchange some pleasantries. I liked how Aditya re-positions himself in the room while talking to Priya's brother Chinu so he could observe her better...I guess once a stalker, always a stalker. 😆

Back at the Jhaakar home, Vidya decides she needs to talk to Gaurav about what she heard Devyani say but is intercepted by Imli.

In the meantime, realizing that Aditya has no intention of departing, a frustrated Priya confronts him in front of everybody and asks him to leave but is in turn surprised by Aditya's impulsive and spontaneous confession of love and marriage proposal. The writers then keep Aditya perfectly in character with his non-apologetic manner of asking a shocked Mr. Pradhan for her hand in marriage. Upon hearing Mr. Pradhan's response that the choice was all Priya's, Aditya gets Chinu to recommend a quiet place in Ghaziabad and lets Priya know he would wait for her there. While I am not a fan of the traditional man-on-his-knees type proposal, this one was quite alright to watch.

Vidya on the other hand gets Imli to call Gaurav. Although she is initially shy, she finally blurts out that she heard what Devyani told him. As a shocked Gaurav tries to regain his bearings, Vidya's urging of him to not let go of his relationships with his family reassures him that Vidya misunderstood what she overheard. I've got to say...I love the growing friendship between Vidya and Gaurav. It is shown progressing naturally and does not appear like its forced in to the screenplay just for the purpose of playing it against Gaurav's past.

Finally, the episode ended with Mr. Pradhan expressing his support of Aditya to Priya and encouraging her to share her past with him.

Overall...I loved the episode. 👏 Simply fabulous.

*checks self for a fever*...Don't know guys...I wish I had more to criticize...such fan girl type reviews are NOT my style. 😳

Loved:

  • The story: 👍🏼 👍🏼
  • The screenplay: 👍🏼 👍🏼
  • Acting: Simply spectacular...👍🏼 👍🏼. I have to say that Raqesh Vashisht is wonderfully spontaneous as Aditya...as were the rest of the cast in the episode today. Ridhi...still not up to the mark for me but seeing as today did not require any heavy-duty emoting, her Priya act was ok.
Disliked:
  • Uttara & Rishabh's characters are missing from the screenplay for two days now. Given how intense and real their story track is, I hope the calm phase in the abuse cycle is not ignored. The calm phase is what keeps victims going by giving them a false sense of being loved. Hope they are back in tomorrow's episode.

As always, feel free to tear this apart...

Cheers,

Jaya

I do not recall if Indian movies or shows have handled a gay character with respect, class and in a mature way. Gay jokes are cracked and reality buried as if such people do not exist in our society -- mere figment of imagination. I want Gaurav to be a gay character and the creative team showing the emotional turmoil based on that. It's a fact that families force their son/daughter to marry, thinking that it'll bring them back on the right path.

Priya is indeed the weak link when it comes to acting. One day, Pooja and I were discussing the same at the Den. The girl is not a newcomer but her acting skills have remained the same: expressionless and dialogue delivery bland.

I am not still not watching the show but Jaya's posts give me a good idea on what is happening. Thank you Jaya. 🤗

Yash...🤗....Hiya hon! Feel like I have not chatted with you today at all...😳

Coming to an older woman in Gaurav's life...that is the other possibility I had thought of when I was doing my catch up last week. At that point it made sense. But given the dialog on Wednesday...I am on the fence. If Gaurav is not gay, it has to be a twist that works with the dialogs. The writers of Maryada do not strike me as the type to use words unless it had some meaning. I wonder if I am interpreting the dialog itself incorrectly. 🤔

Tanu: 🤗Will try though the show is heavy duty for me. I prefer reading to watching. 😊
