I am really not able to understand why would Krishna and Vyasa ask Drupad to adopt Draupadi? What was the purpose?

On one hand we say people can’t plan then on the other hand this

Drupada wanted a well-trained boy as defense against Drona. My guess is Krishna/Vyasa pointed out Dhrishtadyumna and made Panchali's adoption and subsequent marriage to Yudhishtira a condition to form the alliance.

Interestingly, HV says Krishna took 4 boys to his uncle Gandusha for adoption - one was Pradyunna, one was Panchala.

You can plan, most definitely. Why ever not? But not everything is a plan, and not every plan succeeds. Also, plans have to meet minimum requirements of logic.

No I meant to say that her being raised as a boy had nothing to do with any plan originally. Later since she was knowledged she helped in the greater cause

Draupadi and Dristadumya were called twins, I can understand slender woman (Not raised like a boy) can be 16 but a 21 year old well trained man wouldn’t look

We only assume they were twins. Text doesn't say so.

The Kuru-Panchal alliance helped Krishna get rid of his biggest enemy, Jarasandha. For Vyasa, it was always about the empire.

I think he was trained by Drona after adoption

Aside they weren't twins they came out of fire together, nothing says they were equal in age at that time

But Chiilli gave a good reason, Dhristhdhyum was pardoned for Brahmhatya but GuruHatya was something even worse, he wouldn't have been pardoned for it
