Another memorable scene from Sweety Shindey's Arjun Without Doubt. Krishna and Draupadi After Arjun returns with Subhadra. Krishna: In exile Arjun tasted freedom, solitude and the confidence to survive alone. He does'nt need a crown to get admirers and allies. He could have stayed on in Dwaraka where he is cherished, with his best friend and adoring wife who worships him. He could have built an independence province with his martial excellence, my councel and Dwaraka's army rallying behind him. He need not have come back here at all if he is ruthless, ambitious and insensitive. ...yet he returned to a place where he will ever be a king -to a family that priorotises their desires over his emotions-where his skills will be used but not necessarily acknowledged. Ask yourself what hauled him back here. ...you were the silken thread that tethered him and yet made him strain for escape. Krishna's words trulely explain the importance of Draupadi in Arjun's life. A beautiful rendering of trivial situations and reactions by Dr Sweety Shindey that make us inhale the fragrance of love, friendship, guidance ,reasoning ,,and so on. You are a genius at creating such impact Doctor, Thank you very much for creating. Arjun Without Doubt.

Anuja chandraMouli's Arjuna, saga of a Pandava warrior prince is more of a straight away rendering of the story ,the impact laid on Arjun's life and incidents. I can not say that it was the work of a creative genius as I am inclined more towards Dr. Shindey's magnificent work of creative splendour. Still I was impressed by a few scenes penned by the author that really made a difference to the otherwise straight away narration. One such scene is that happens at the end of the battle ,when Pandavas visit Gandhari,Kunti and Dhritarashtra ..Gandhari who was blindfolded, could not control her anger and casts her fierce glance at Yudhishtir's feet.Anuja's narration goes thus...' So great was Gandhari's fury that it was transmitted through her lidded and blindfolded gaze and scorched Yudhishtir's toenails ,burning and disfiguring them painfully. Arjuna, who had been watching all this felt more frightened like a child than ever. He had hid himself behind Krishna ,deciding that after all the bizarre events of the battlefield ,it would not be surprising if the apparition in front of him burnt them all to cinders like diva find to Kama, when he opened his third eye. Gandhari caught the movement and she was filled with a sudden tenderness. She had always liked Arjuna among kunti's sons.Yudhishtira despite being virtuous had been an obstacle to her don's ascension to the throne and therefore she could not help having mixed feelings about him. Bheema had been her son's hated adversary and Gandhari could not love her son's worst enemy. But she has always liked Arjuna,It had been impossible for her not to love the handsome, talented boy who had grown to be such a fine specimen of manhood. She called him to her, hugged him gently to reassure him and even mussed his curls. She handed him to Kunti ,the way she would a mewling infant. At that moment in his mother's arms Arjun knew that though he could never hope to be whole again without Abhimanyu ,the healing process had begun and he would recover.

One more scene from Anuja's Arjun,The saga of a Pandava warrior prince that shows the love of Arjun for Draupadi. It is the description of fall of Draupadi and Arjun's reaction to that. It is simply narrated but with the required emotion. It goes thus. Draupadi who found the going rough, suddenly lost her balance and plummeted to the depths below. Her husbands continued ahead without stopping. Arjuna felt Bheema's anguish-he had loved her more than the other four brothers. The second Pandava inched closer to Yudhisthira wanting to know from him why Draupadi who had borne so much ,had to be the first to die.But Arjuna knew that it was because in the innermost recesses of her heart ,she had always loved him,Arjuna, more than the others. He had known it ,but had chosen not to acknowledge her love for him in full and given his deepest devotion to Subhadra . It was not a conscious decision, but Arjuna knew that he had done the right thing.,for otherwise the Pandavas would have been torn apart by their forbidden love. But with Draupadi gone, he finally allowed himself to realise that he had loved her back in equal measure--always.

Few days back, I came across a Ramakrishna Mission Publication Swami Vivekanandasya Eka Ladhvi Jeevan Katha, A short life sketch of Swami Vivekananda . The book was published on the occasion of the 150 th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda . There the story of vivekananda's first meeting with Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa enlightened me something I do not know till now. I read different books on Vivekananda and I am proud to admit that I am one of his greatest admirers.I am pleased to inform that I am the conveyor of Swami Vivekananda study circle that works towards spreading Swamiji's ideals and inspire the young students with his outstanding contribution towards uplifting India's Traditional and spiritual glory before the western countries. The piece of information that is alien to me that I found in the above mentioned book made me ecastic and on top of the world. I want to share it with you. This is the passage that describes Ramakrishna's first reaction on seeing Narendra. With tears in his eyes Ramakrishna said thus. Ayi, Bho, Katham vilambena Aagatoasi? Katham nishkarunah tvam yat Evam nirikshantam maam upekshitavan .Aham Janami yat tvam narayanavatarah naramaharshirasi ,lokanam Arti hantumagatah. Why did you come so late? How can you be merciless and ignore me like this? I know you are sage Nara,an incarnation of Lord Narayan.you came to destroy the sufferings of the worlds. Highly elated to know that my another idol is the same as the first one. The same soul fought battles and became an epitome of victory in Dwaparyug, came down to achieve spiritual victory over the minds of those who are directionless and aimless in kalyug.Arjun and Swami Vivekananda both the same.

Draupadi always felt immensely proud of Arjun's valour that she time and again expressed whenever the situation demanded. Sometimes at her free will also irrespective of the situation like she did when she goaded Bheema to fight with yakshas reminding him the valour of Arjun. But first it is an attempt to see her praise Arjun's valour as per the demand of the situation. Draupadi's speech to jayathrath. When Jayathrath refuses to budge despite Draupadi's sensible words to prevent him from his uncharted desire, Draupadi got enraged and reminded Jayathrath of Arjun's valour. Yahya hi Krishnau,...indroapitam nopaharet Katham ...Even Indra can not abduct her for whose protection Krishna and Arjun would together follow in one chariot. Kiriti, the slayer of foes when riding in his chariot on account of me enter your ranks, and cause terror in every heart. Yada Kiriti, paraviraghati ...he will consume everything like fire . Maulvi visrushtah,Gandiva muktanscha...The terrible arrows of Dhananjaya shot from the string of Gandiva fly with great force .Only after seeing Arjun with his Gandiv ,you will repent your folly. ...The words of Draupadi certainly exhibit her high regard for Arjun's valour. She feels proud of his prowess and always takes delight in praising his extraordinary valour. Of course she praised other Pandavas also but Ved Vyas alots more page space to describe Arjun's valour through many characters and that includes his loving wife Draupadi also.

In Virat parv Draupadi praises Arjun's valour when she goes to Bheema before Kichak vadh. She says she can not see Arjun in his Brihannala disguise. The youth who vanquished on a single car all the celestials and men ,is enduring incognito in Brihannala attire. Pritha's son of immeasurable power gratified Agni during Khandava Dahan. Sah sadevan manushancha ...Khandave jatavedasam...Dhananjaya is the terror of foes, the sound of whose bow string made every one tremble. Yasya Jyatala nirghoshena. ...Yasminnastrani. Divyani. ...That high souled hero is the master of all the weapons and repository of all the sciences. Yasya sma ratha ghoshena. ...The clatter of Arjun's car wheels made the entire earth tremble. That youth can not be overpowered by. kings of incomparable process...Draupadi's praise is heartfelt and genuine. She takes pride in every single achievement of Dhananjay.

This is highly interesting! Is it an actual quote or a retelling of their meeting?

This was a re telling of Swamiji's life published on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary celebrations. Since it is a Ramakrishna Math publication, that too On an occasion as prestageous as that , I believe it authentic and desperately hopes it to be true. I would contact the concern Math convenors and extract the facts as we work together for Vivekananda Study circle .

Curtain raiser for Arjun's exile ,in the words of Draupadi,...A soul stirring narration from Pratibha Ray's Yajna seni...The day of uniting with Arjun is drawing nearer. An year and a week later I would be able to begin life together with the hero who won me...I was confident that once I got close to him there would no more be any hurt ,misunderstanding and anger between us.He would be able to touch my soul and I would be able to lose myself in his soul. How long drawn-out are the moments of waiting..Till then I had been engrossed in waiting for the day of uniting with Arjun ,as though forgetting myself in a dream...It was natural that my attraction for Arjun was somewhat greater...It was as I was counting the days for union with Arjun that all my dreams were shattered by Arjun himself...I was thinking.'why did Arjun really do this? "...if the Brahmin had compelled Phalguni to do it could he not find weapons anywhere in the entire kingdom except by entering the private chamber without permission? If those weapons are indispensable,he could have given advance notice...why did he not do so? ...My eyes filled with tears ,throat got choked...I managed to ask him.'whether anyone knows or not,at least tell me this much before going, that only for punishing me on the pretext of needing weapons, you had entered Yudhishtir's room. No weapon was available anywhere in Indrapradth- that I can not accept...phalguni looked at me...on his lips a slight smile.I wanted to punish--you have understood that?Because of this the twelve year exile will become meaningful...Even though I should suffer, in punishing me he would get happiness --in this thought, waiting for Phalguni's return twelve years would go by. When I read this for the first time, my heart broke for both Arjun and Draupadi.I very much agree with Draupadi's question . How could there be no weapons available for The protection of cows in the whole of IIndraprasth? As much as I wish, I also could not believe it that Arjun who defeated Angarparn with just the fire of flame he held in his hand, needs those weapons only to punish Ordinary thieves. He must have preferred to leave Indraprasth and Draupadi rather than bear the pain of seeing her with someone else. Pratibha Ray did bring out the emotion and pain just perfect to suit the situation.
