An excerpt from The Great Golden Sacrifice--Maggi Lidchi Grassi. Our Exile was over. We were the Pandavas once again. The good kingVirata with joy offered me,princess Uttara. I loved her so much that in my mind I had already given her to Abhimanyu in marriage. I wanted to continue loving her as a daughter. My heart turned towards Draupadi. After all she had suffered I wanted to give her the love which coming from me would soothe her if any thing could.

The author really conveyed great meaning through these lines. Arjun's empathy and love towards Draupadi who suffered a lot. Arjun is a silent observer of Draupadi's troubles through out Virat parv as he was not in a position to help her or give solace to her. He is a helpless spectator who watches her harassment by Kichak before his eyes. In Jayathrath's case it is different as he is the one who reached Jayadhrath by stopping him with his arrows and destroying his army. Bheem captured him only after Arjun made it possible as Jayathrath went too far away with Draupadi. But he is helpless in Keechak's case. But he is the one who has access in the Antahpur and observed how she served Sudheshna like a maid and finally how she endured the amorous advances of kichak. That is why he says when Draupadi taunts him that he is enjoying with girls not bothering about her ... No one understands the pain that is there inherent in the heart. So when he makes a choice of offering uttara to his son he certainly must have thought about Draupadi and felt his love only will soothen her heart and wishes to shower on her and help her forget her ordeals.

I re-read keechak-vadh yesterday! Drau is truly on fire there. In that chapter, Drau is a one girl army😊
Although, I wish Arjun said something like this: "Drau, I wish I was there to protect you. If I was there Keechak would never have been able to kick you, his friends would never have carried you off, and you would never have been insulted by Virat."

Get your act together Arjun...😡

Quite a few books are there written by contemporary novelists Who presented the unmistaken love of Arjun and Draupadi. and became successful. Pratibha Ray's yajnaseni is one among them that projected Draupadi's preferential love for Arjun with transparency and conviction. Only hindrance in inhaling the intense love of Draupadi towards Arjun is the authour's charecterisation of Arjun who always blames Draupadi for crucial decisions such as the sharing thing and the one year rule. Except for his brooding over the above things,Pratibha Ray's Arjun is noble, breathtakingly handsome and loved by Krishna more than his life. The first night scene described between Arjun and Draupadi is poetic, with Arjun's image seen in all the ornaments she wore as there are mirrors in them.Arjun's beautiful image appears every where and Draupadi is amazed at that. Draupadi's longing for Arjun when he leaves for penance is poetic. Her love for poetry and for the third Pandav compliment each other. Only hindrance for ArDi lovers is author's author's take on Draupadi Karna angle that leaves a bad taste.when Ved Vyas never wrote not even one scene for them nor a dialogue why would these writers take undue liberty and spoil the character sketch given by Him...hard to swallow.

Of all the modern novels that retold The Mahabharata ,I obsessively love Arjun Without Doubt written by Dr. Sweety Shindey. The writer's skill in character sketch, creation of incidents and explanation based upon reasoning of crucial incidents makes her stand tall and unique among her contemporaries. Her's is a journey that every ArDi admirer finds exhilarating and heartwarming. The passionate love of Arjun and Draupadi comes to life through the situations, dialogues and monologues. Some dialogues are so thought provoking and leave us pondering over the incidents connected to them and drive us to that realisation, awakening that we may not be bold enough to think or believe previously.I can not pick one or two as I immensely worship each and every dialogue penned by her. Still I would try to present some only to feel the thrill again.

I second that! it is a marvelous book . A must read for both ArDi lovers and even those who love both if them separately. Kudos to Dr.Sweety Shinde 👏

Let me tell you a simple logic.
A mother had five children.
In their childhood obviously everyone lived with her.
As they completed schooling three of them got busier spending most of the time out for college, tuitions and other projects. One of them went to a nearby town to study, but came home every weekends. And one of them went abroad and came once in years. They all love each other dearly and never quarreled.

You got to ask this question, who does the mother love the most?

Does this question seem to be difficult?
Absolutely, not.
She loved them all EQUALLY.

But.. but.. but... it may seem like she loves the one who went abroad the most. Because she always thinks what he must be doing, if he ate or not, if he is still the same or not.. etc.. She LONGS for him the most, does not mean she loves him the most, though they seem synonymous.
It's just that she is separated from him and distance makes the heart grow fonder.

Now same is the case with draupadi. The only reason she is more inclined towards Arjun is that he was separated from her most of the time, while the others always surrounded at her beck and call. She got to know all her husbands dearly, but there was always this time lapse and communication gap regarding Arjun which made Draupadi determined to him more and make most of the little time she gets with him. It is just like the son from abroad comes home and the mother ignores all the other children for few days and lavishes that son with all the attention, just because she got to see him after long time.

Your argument is only valid if one considers distance as the single variable in this calculus. I think most ArDi'ers would say that there is a LOT more to their relationship than two points being connected by a line.

Nonetheless, an interesting thought.

A heart warming description of Draupadi's Re union with Arjun after he comes back from heaven---an excerpt from Arjun without Doubt written by Sweety Shindey. Draupadi 's narration: we reached the peak of Gandhamadan mountain range and set up our camp there. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. I turned anxious. ...The wait was becoming intolerable. Twenty years. It was twenty years since I first saw him and fell in love. And yet a paltry one year was the only time we had been together. The years before that we had been forced to be strangers .The years after that he had made himself a stranger. All I knew was that I needed to see Arjun again. TBC

Arjun narrates; I introduced my father to my brothers. Indra's eyes were searching,...Where is your Mohini Astra, your weapon of hypnosis. He asked. Just as he said, I saw a streak of golden brown and then my wife is in my arms. I held her close imbibing her warmth. ...Her nails were sunk like talons into me,drawing blood. She was trembling. I realised with a shock that she was crying. She has gone through much more without shedding a tear. I had never seen her cry before ,except when she first met Abhimanyu. For me this cult scene penned by Dr.sweety Shindey is out of the world. The pain of separation,The relief in Union after five years, the whole scene is a creative marvel that moves hearts and makes us feel the love of ArDi like never before. This was an important scene as per the epic also where Vedvyas conveys the same feeling by telling Arjun gave relief to her ,Sametya Krishnaam pari svantya. Chainam. TBC
