WEll I would say A "NO"
She was a great mother
That is evident by the fact that she rose the children of that woman with utmost love and affection with whom she strived all her life to gain superiority.
It is never easy for a woman to raise step children.
She was a teenager it was difficult for her to face the world. How could she as a teenager confront during Dwapar yuga that she is an unwed mother???
Had she revealed the truth in rangbhoomi she and all her six sons would have been insulted all throughout their lives by their otherwise jealous cousins...
Then karna would also be deprived of AANGAPRADESh

In my point of veiw I may not be a great karn admirer but respect him for certain things ...
Had she not revealed him the truth he would not be what he is today...
He would have been a king definitely but his brothers would have been respected more than him for giving away the throne to their die hard enemy who has insulted their wife...

it will always be a no...
karna is wat he is because of this so called mistake. he suffered a lot and also came out as a warrior because of that!! if she took him he will only be the eldest of pandavas and a king!! and also have faced the bitterness of being the son of a characterless mother and mamshri the man of mind games can easily make him feel unwanted by all since he is kunti's mistake and what we all get in the end is a man who have only anger and revenge to this whole world!! and who know like bollywood films may return to Hp and regain his kingdom by killing all!!! which makes him a beast rather than a man!!!

also can be an alternative version where who knws he may even be king n no dyuth n no mb!!! so all should thank kunti for that one mistake which gave all a great warrior!!

also one more thing!!

what kunti did is a teenage mistake and she admits that also but why she is only blamed!! the baby didnt juz pap!!! he have a father and as maother's hve responsibilities a father too do have right and responsibilities!!! a child identity is from its mother and father. and suryanarayan being god cant juz get away!!!! well the lady atleast told him she is hs mother .. n this guy being a God dint showed the spine!!
if she kept the truth suryanarayam could've also revealed it!!! so if kunti is at fault so is suryanarayan!!!

@TheWatcher Would you mind explaining what is her mistake? And why that makes her bad?

@Riti NO! Ofcourse it was not because we forget one fact! She was a young teenager!! What could she have fone? Niw we can say she could have given the child to foster parents herself as Shriya said, but Shriya i dont agree. How can she do that when for the same reason, for not revealing the truth, she was abandoning the baby? You need to see it in her way also. She as a teeanger had to find correct foster parents, who could also be witness to this secret of Kunti's and that would have made Kunti more and more afraid of society. What if the foster parents reveal the truth? What if the baby was killed? Now that is Dwapar Yug, and that too Karna was protected by Surya Narayan's blessings! And at that time we could hope for the baby to be safe.. leaving him to flost in water was almost equal to giving him to unknown parents as a teen girl.

Complete agreements. Every woman cannot accept these things. Kunti did it willingly. Still she is bashed for bad motherhood...so sad... that too when its her boon which gave Madri Nakul Sahdev... 😊 She never did anything wrong with her five sons. Kunti's only mistake was saying those words without knoeing... after Draupadi came... she should have looked. But nothing else. She was a very good mother. 😃

😊 Being a teenager is excuse dear..If she was so young to take decision..then why did she take that..Why could not she give child to anyone in palace around..and why you think Child would be killed..😲 there are so what ifs that your reply has...and similar way ..I too have so many Ifs that kunti would have done...
Please understand the difference here- Leaving a defenceless child along in running water cant be compared with act of giving child safely in some other mother's arm. For me it is like leaving a child on road in Kalyug.
Anyways.. as I told you I dont hate her or think she is bad...But definately I dont justify his mistakes or wrong doing...

Alright so maybe abandoning him was not a crime. I agree she was young and scared. Also she could not reveal his identity as her son even in the rang-bhoomi as that would have only increased his problems and also her 5 other sons would have been humiliated. BUT there was absolutely no need to reveal his identity when they were at the verge of a war. She did not do it out of her love towards Karna. She only did it to morally weaken him. After all he was the only one on the Kaurava side who was a big threat for Pandavas. That undoubtedly makes her selfish. She may have been a good mother to the pandavas but she was never a mother to Karna and she had no right to demand or even request anything from him.

of course it's not an easy thing to accept ur step sons but she did it...she willingly took up all the responsibilities of Pandu n Madri n she raised them wid such high values that these men are said to b virtuous n it's of course her upbringing 👏

Kunti n Madri never shared a good bond in spite of that she raised her sons n Sehdev was apple of her eyes.. 😊

If Yudhishthira chose Nakul over Arjun n Bheem when Yam asked to save only 1 brother it's of course coz of Kunti's upbringing that Yudi gave preferance to MadriNandan leaving his siblings to die 👏

I know Karna had to suffer all the miseries as she abandoned him but I feel he would have suffered alot more if she didn't abandon him

Mata ka prem kabhi mapa nahi ja sakta...samagra aryavat mein sabhi ko samay ke samne jhukna padta hai...jagat mein sankalp hota hai aur us samay ke chakra mein sabko badalna padta hai...

Sorry for the "krishna hindi" but im addicted to MB 😆

and i basically think kunti was a great mother...u cant judge her by 1 fault

ya wat I said ws keeping her situation in mind...some part of her would have wanted to see her baby grow in front of her, some part of her would have been going through, as u said, if d truth came out her father would be insulted. She could nt be feeling only one emotion at that time, it's a turmoil, a mixed bag of emotions...
I have never come across such a reference that she left the baby in the floating basket to drown him or kill him...she did wat she did trusting suryanarayan n Mother Nature herself...I still stand firm on my belief that she was a good mother in bad situations...

According to me, Kunti is not bad and should not considered as bad because she was anxious for her son Karn who was born before marriage from a mantra and so whatever she did, abandoning Karn was to save Karn from terming as illegal and that was the only option for her at that time. Karn is only observing the things from his perspective , he never tried to even understand his real mother and for only one dharma he is giving his support to Duryodhana. Karn must realise that he is doing wrong.

Lastly, Kunti was scared and was not able to decide but Lord Krishna guided her hence she went to Karn.
