I have. Referenced from the original sources. Got mocked for claiming their "originality". Wasted my time and banged my head too. Bruise is still there.

Oh this is perfect!
And actually, KMG says the same things, but it is more mellow and moreover difficult to understand.People read, assume and spit.

This is from the day when Pandavas are leaving for exile. All the HP citizens are cursing the Kauravas, Shakuni, Karna and Dhritrashtra.
They say that they will follow the Pandavas.

To that Yudhishtira said :

"Yudhishthira said, 'Blessed are we since the people with the Brahmanas at their head, moved by affection and compassion credit us with merits we have not. I, however, with my brothers, would ask all of you to do one thing. Ye should not, through affection and pity for us, act otherwise!

Our grandfather Bhishma, the king (Dhritarashtra), Vidura, my mother and most of my well-wishers, are all in the city of Hastinapura.

Therefore, if ye are minded to seek our welfare, cherish ye them with care, uniting together as they are overwhelmed with sorrow and afflictions.

Grieved at our departure, ye have come far! Go ye back, and let your hearts be directed with tenderness towards the relatives I entrust to you as pledges! This, of all others, is the one act upon which my heart is set, and by doing this ye would give me great satisfaction and pay me your best regards!

After everything that happened, Yudhishtira still thinks that Dhritrashtra cares for him and that most of his well wishers are in HP.

Shows you the mentality of this man. *sigh*

Well SMB and MB are not said by individual authors like Ms. Bannerjee and Ms. Karve you see.

They are abridged and researched upon by historians, anthropologists, professors of religious studies and people faf far faaar more elarned than me and you

These people have given the MB and SMB its stamp of originality.

And if we question originality of Hinduism, then we can question a lot of other religions too.

And if we say atheism is the way forward, then please tell me how the universe began?

Its pointless to argue.

At the end of the day we can just shake our heads, laugh and think

"Jaaki Rahi Bhavna Jaisi, Prabhu murati dekhi tin taisi"

AND

"Ulta naam japaa jag jaana, Valmiki bhaye Bhrama samana"

AND

"Hari Anant Hari katha Anantha, Kahi hee Sunahi Bahu Vidhi Sab Santa"

people, all those who dont believe yudi deserved vaikuntha please just answer this :

How many times does a sinner have to be punished...in the forest ...on Kurukshetra and even after that in heaven...meaning they have to be punished forever...so there is no forgiveness...

observe how readers keep asking this questions...tells us a lot about readers and a lot about the epic!

p.s. do you guys know that even duri & co went to swarga... who actually did the VH??

Yup RM says the SAAMMEEE; giving my view that RM= KMG more weight

Yudhishtira raised both his hands to quieten them and when they fell silent, he said, "You must stay behind, my friends. You must think of Bheeshma and Dhritarashtra, Vidura and my mother Kunti. Bheeshma has served you long and devotedly and so have the king and Vidura. They also share your grief at our exile. You must be of solace to them."

"Dhritarashtra feels no remorse, or he would not have called you back to play a second time!"

"Even if that is true, what about the others? Will you abandon Bheeshma, Vidura and my mother, in their grief?"

They were amazed; any other man would have encouraged them to go with him, at least to teach Duryodhana a lesson. But with tears in his eyes, Yudhishtira pleaded, "You must return to your homes, where you belong. Make it easier for us to leave you.

I don't get you. Why are you telling this to me, of all the people? I am not an atheist. I am a Sanskrit research scholar who gives the utmost sanctity to all our scriptures.

Yes, but the sinner you talk of was in heaven was he not? He died and went straight to Amravati? did he not? There is nothing in the MB to say that the sinner was ever sent to hell. is there? It only says he got a hero's death on the battlefield and so is in heaven. Even Yudi asked why eh was in Amravati and Indra answered him.
He may not have gone to Vaikunth but to reach Vaikunth is not easy.

You are misunderstanding me. I am saying this about believing PoI and Yuganta and Mrityunjay and Ajaya.

I m not saying this to you.

i have read/seen your posts and I know you are not an atheist.

Apologies if you misunderstood what I meant. It was in reference to our discussion about doubting originality.

Among kings of yore who enriched the earth with their noble lives, Duryodhana sits in Indra's sabha on a jeweled throne. The Kaurava is as majestic as any of the other kshatriyas. Yudhishtira cannot contain himself. "How is Duryodhana here in your court of dharma? He caused the deaths of millions. He destroyed kshatriya kind with his greed. This man had Draupadi dragged into the Kuru sabha by her hair and tried to strip her naked. There is no sinner like him in heaven or earth. I cannot bear to be in the same place as him, not for a moment!" Narada is in the Sudharma and he says to Yudhishtira, "Ah, don't say that! This is swarga. Before you enter here, you must forget your old enmities. Listen to me, Pandava, all these kings of men love your cousin. He died like a kshatriya, offering his body as libation in the fire of war and they love him for that. He died bravely, in agony and his death purified him. Moreover, he was a just king when he ruled. He was fearless and generous. Pandava, the laws of heaven differ from the laws of the earth.

You say you do not understand the law of Devaloka. Let me tell you what it is. If a man's sins outweigh his punya, then he comes straight into heaven when he dies. When his punya is exhausted, he sinks into hell to suffer for his sins. But if a soul's virtue exceeds his sins, then he pays first for his crimes and then comes into swarga forever.

Menon, Ramesh (2006-07-20). THE MAHABHARATA: A Modern Rendering, Vol 2 (Kindle Locations 10853-10855). iUniverse. Kindle Edition.

His brothers rise and come to welcome Yudhishtira. Karna also rises; and with them comes another familiar figure, his body luculent, kindness and grace in his eyes and his face wreathed in a smile. It is Duryodhana, who is also a king in Devaloka. Now Yudhishtira feels no twinge of resentment and embraces his cousin just as he does his brothers. Indra, Lord of the Devas, presents Yudhishtira, the Pandava, in his sabha

in Devaloka: Yudhishtira who is Dharma's son and the very soul of truth.

So saying that Duri was NOT forgiven is a moot point

However, who knows if after serving briefly in Swarga, whether Duri went to Narka or not
or if he already paid in Narka for his sins and then came to Swarga. THAT is not detailed anywhere in the MB
