So being 'saved' by an enemy can also be a reason to increase guilt in a person.

Wow...Seems like a debate is going on here...
Well, people are talking about Dharm n Adharm...Here, I would like to say that Dharm n Adharm is somewhat dependent on our biases...
In Mahabharat, some fans of Karna will consider:-
Calling someone sutputra , laughing at a falling man, rejecting someone for marriage, staking one's own wife to be "Adharm" n disrobing a woman n calling her a prostitute, etc to be "just revenge".
Whereas fans of Pandavas n Daupadi will consider:-
Disrobing a woman, calling a woman a prostitute, plotting to burn relatives alive in Lakshagriha, poisoning a boy in return for his ragging, etc to be Adharm.
Honestly, both sides made mistakes. However, it is the weight of the mistakes of either side that decided the future.
The Pandavas n Draupadi were not exactly perfect, as depicted in the show.
They did dismiss Karna as a "Sutaputra", staked their own wife, laughed at Duryodhan and made other mistakes, but they never did things like plotting to burn relatives alive, molesting other people's wives, snatching away kingdom by cheating, etc.
They did make certain shrewd decisions to protect themselves, but they NEVER did shameless acts as depicted above.
So, the Pandavas may not have been perfect, but they did not commit EXTREME crimes like Duryodhan n gang.
As far as the war is concerned, yes, they did cheat.
They killed Karna, Drone n Bhism through cheating.
But it should not be overlooked, that the Pandavas had resorted to extreme cheating, after they were almost burnt alive, driven to exile n most importantly, after their wife was humiliated to that extent.
The Kauravas had been cheating from the beginning, starting with the poisoning of Bhim, bcoz he ragged them. The Kauravas have always been extreme, in their approach to defeat the Pandavas.
So, the Pandavas were not perfect. They made mistakes n did make shrewd decisions for their own survival.
And everyone has a different way of looking at the characters of Mahabharat.
However, there is a reason y the Kauravas have been condemned n the Pandavas have been respected for the past 5000 years.

Karna was a human who was constantly devoid of his due respect as archer in the story.. All he wanted ever was respect and acceptance...which he never got...Only one man gave him that respect...who actually gave him that position in society which made him feel like he was a part of it rather than being outcast... He wasnt blinded by friendship.. he felt it was his dharma to protect his friend...he felt he was being wronged by pandavas.. yes he was wrong.. and thats why he dies in the story... coz ultimately ones on right side prevailed..but still after his death...he is not considered as evil but remembered as great warrior just on wrong side...as were other greats like Bheeshma n Drona..
