As far i remember Dronacharya becomes agreed to teach Kaurav-Pandav due to his poor condition. He cant able to run his family properly. They face lots of economic problem. Then he remember about his gurukul friend Dhrupad & goes to Panchal but the king of Panchal do not recognize his old childhood friend. Dronacharya feels humiliated & wants to take revenge. But to take revenge he never start teaching.
While here they showed he starts teaching to take revenge only. 😕
As far i know he never think to become the king or his son Aswathama becomes king of Panchal rather he just want to take revenge of that humiliation. 😕

Am i wrong ?? 😕 What do u think ??

Frankly even I an not happy with the characterisation of Drona. I don't think he would have promised to make Ashwathama king. this is just OTT. (over-the-top)

yes he had some anger against Drupad, but that was not the sole reason for agreeing to become the teacher of the princes.

there are many OTT things being shown...ab kya Karen...that's fashion now.

Drona was an ambitious man undoubtedly. But I really doubt he wanted his son to be the king of Panchal. After the princes completed their studies, he asked them to capture Drupada. His ambition was to take revenge of his humiliation through his students. After Drupada was captured, he took half of his kingdom and forgave him. He didn't make his son the king of the land he captured.

Revenge wasn't the sole reason. He wanted to get rid of his poverty for the sake of his wife and son.

Even when Arjun won Panchala for him he NEVER made Ashwathama king

nor did he EVER promise Ashwathama that

nor was Ashwathama befriending Duryodhana for wealth and status , he was absolutely neutral till the war and later lost temper when his father was killed with trickey , he lost it THEN ...till then he was neutral though he fought on Kuru side coz propriety demanded so .

Drithrashtra did NOT send away sons to gurukul bcoz he was coerced at all but bcoz it was the NORM . Krishna and Sudama studied under Rishi Sandeepani , Drona and Drupada under Rishi Bharadwaja and it goes on so on . Drithrashtra never told NO to Drona first but welcomed him with Bheeshma .

Also ...the gurukul Drona built was NEAR the city .

Bheema was poisoned AFTER the admission to gurukula .

Bheema was poisoned in a PICNIC near the riverside . He was NOT taken alone and given kheer that Shakuni poisoned ...Shakuni is NOT there in this kaand . They played games and swam and enjoyed full day and Duryodhan had arranged for a feast that they ate and Bheema being Bheema ate more , ONLY his entire food was poisoned . Later when they fell asleep the Kauravas dragged him ...he did not wake bcoz of the drugged stupor...tied him tightly so that when he was thrown in cold water if he woke up he would not be able to swim , and then thrown by them . The Pandavas assumed the next day he had gone off without them and returned .

This was the Mahabharat i read . I don't know WHICH they read coz they r showing contrived things .

^^Right...
Also, Bheem returned on the 8th day and not 13th. Duryodhan took the advantage of crowd and pushed Bheem in the pond. There was no eye witness so no point of questioning Duryodhan.

Here they hired Dushala as an eye witness. Lol!

Yes . He came back after 8 DAYS as HE DRANK 8 jars of the divine potion . He slept for 8 days. .The snakes bit him . But the poison in his body acted like an antidote or vaccination and saved him . He woke up and began killing the snakes . Ultimately Vasuki had him brought before him . His relation with the Nagas ...a Naga was his great great grandfather , pleased Vasuki and he blessed him and made him drink potions which would give him immunity .

Producer clearly told that they are not coping original MB book...there are so many various versions...the team making story line by gathering all sources.

Drona always wanted to take revenge & Draupad fraud was done before he started teaching.

Whatever they are showing but actor playing Drona is very good actor...The character of Drona is very strong here & this is needed & so i am happy with this.

Character & actor is perfect

@koolsadhu1000...very well said...100% agree with u..
They r modifying too much...about Aswathama u r right...He became friend of Duryodhan only after his father death but yeah he is jealous about Arjun throughout becoz his father prefers Arjun more than him...

See , this is what i know of Ashwathama .

Ashwathama was NOT overtly jealous of Arjun . He had no cause to be jealous as whatever was taught to Arjun was taught to him too . In the war , he , Arjun , Karna knew special skills ...a bit extra than others . He was the among the few to know how to use the Brahma astra ...known only by Bheeshma , Drona , Krishna himself and Arjun . The CVs r using the jealousy factor as another dramatic ploy . The truth is

Ashwathama was not overtly jealous of Arjun but Arjun was jealous of Eklavya , yes . Much as he was good in other aspects , Arjun had an ego about his archery . Ashwathama sometimes wondered if he would replace him in his father's affections but Drona loved him so much that his doubts were often rested .

Ashwathama was neutral . He was a friend of the Pandavas but got along fabulously well with Duryodhan .

His bond with Drona ...the father son bond is interesting and touching . They both loved each other very much ...they both killed for each other . Drona killed himself by not lifting any arms in defence and sitting listlessly in meditation in his chariot and Ashwathama , enraged used the Brahma astra and killed the sleeping sons of the Pandavas to destroy their dynasty .

Ashwathama was the apple of Drona's eyes and he knew it and was content in the knowledge .

In the war both Drona and Ashwathama fought from the Kuru side as they were in employment of the Kurus .

Ashwathama would NEVER speak rudely to Drona as shown in the serial .

Ashwathama fell out with Duryodhana for 4 days of the war . Tempers were high then , and Duryodhan taunted Drona who had promised to bring Yudhishtir before him . Yudhistir was still not captured and Duryodhan taunted Drona . Ashwathama lost his temper at his father's insult . Such was his love for his father .

But after 4 days Drona was killed by trickery by Pandavas who spread the lies of Ashwathama's death to demoralize him .

This grief was more . So Ashwathama fought on Duryodhan's side with teeth gritting vigour .

When the war was lost Ashwathama knew where Duryodhan was hiding . When Duryodhan too was killed with trickery he became inflamed with rage , sorrow and revenge . He promised a dying Duryodhan to avenge for the trickery of his father and his death too .

So he used the Brahmastra on sleeping Pandava sons and killed the vansh .

He broke war rules .

He was caught and brought before Krishna who cursed him to wander aimlessly in the Kaliyuga carrying the sins of all on his shoulders and never to know peace .

Gandhari was enraged when she heard this and in turn cursed Krishna himself saying he had no right to curse when he could have stopped the war himself .

Krishna accepted the curse with bowed head as it was the curse of a mother who had lost all her sons in the war .

This was what i read .

One more thing . Duryodhan was a rebel even in thoughts and pretty progressive . He pooh poohed the caste system . It was one of the attractions in his friendship with Ashwathama .
