Yeah...u r right Aswathama & Drona shared a very good relation even i remember during war Aswathama asks Drona that if he liked Arjun & Pandava more than Kaurava then why he fought against Pandava & Drona replied that he did it due to Aswathama as he wanted to give better facilities to his son in his childhood & thats why he started teaching as his job & as he took wealth from Dhitarashta he could not go against him & Hastinapur.

Drona always wanted to take revenge & Draupad fraud was done before he started teaching.

Whatever they are showing but actor playing Drona is very good actor...The character of Drona is very strong here & this is needed & so i am happy with this.

Character & actor is perfect

I understand ur point but Manan, we should not change the epic which is clearly known to everyone.
Sometime we see changes in historical shows but it may be understood because history is not written in such detailed way so makers assume & shows in their way.
But Epic like Mahabharat & Ramayan are clearly written, though there are many versions but we should not change it. Then people who never read it, will misunderstand certainly.

Ashwathama felt insecure sometimes but not extremely jealous . Drona convinced him successfully .

When Drushtadyumnya and his warriors surrounded Drona's chariot Arjun cried heart wrenchingly ...'' Don't kill the Acharya'

Later Ashwathama killed Drushtadyumnya . If Drushtadyumna killed a meditating Drona , Ashwathama strangled a sleeping Drushtadyumna . All avenged ...all . It is a sad sad and exciting story of senseless cruelty of war .

Kools, agreed. Ashwathama was not overtly jealous but he was indeed insecure of Arjun and his special status with Drona.

But all said and done, Ashwathama was also a coward. While he not only broke war rules by killing the sleeping lads in the tent, he also ran, frightened that the Pandavas would avenge this by killing him.
It is Draupadi who actually forgives Ashwathama for Kripi. She tells the Pandavas that she, Draupadi understands the pain of a dead child and would never want that for the Acharya's wife. Hence Ashwathama is spared.

Now Gandhari's curse is purely because of her sadness at the death of her sons. Bheem comes back and Dhridhrashtra wants to hug him. It is said that Dhrid had the strength to kill a person by just hugging him and Krishna knew this. Hence he first asked Bheem to place a statue in front of Dhrid who grinds it to dust..

Gandhari is there and she is incensed. She feels that if Krishna could save one, he could have saved all. Hence she curses Krishna that he would also see his clan die by killing each other. This comes true later on..

Yes . Gandhari cursed Krishna that just as the Kaurav race was destroyed so would Yadava race would be destroyed .

I completely agree that what Ashwathama did was cowardly and unetihcal but

so many unethical things were done by the Pandav side that i am not judgemental anymore , all i sense in the Mahabharat is revenge

Drupada insulted Drona

Drona insulted him by conquering Panchal

Drupada wanted Drushtadymna to avenge him

Drona killed Drushtadyumna's sons

Drushtadyumna killed him defenceless and in meditation . Arjun and Satyaki later abused him verbally for this

Ashwathama reacted later by strangling Drishtadyumna in sleep .

Who did cowardice ? So grey and debatable .

Draupadi was a woman of fire ...in this case 5 of her sons were dead . She may gave given a thought to Kripi but was in with Krishna to take away the jewel from his forehead that gave him an everlasting wound .

Stripped of his powers and blood oozing out perpetually , carrying sins of all through the age , i think Draupadi gave him a much worse fate than death .

Well said Kools😊

That is why MB is so interesting. It has humans and their vices out for all to see.. As far as the war, neither side was without fault. Yudhistir's lie that Ashwathama is dead was wrong and he knew it. It is said that his chariot that always was a feet above in the air fell back on the ground when Yudhistir went along with the plan.

So yes.. None were beyond reproach. But then, there were certain acts that were honestly totally horrible. One was killing of Abhimanyu. The other was that of Draupadi's sons. Both were against very young lads and also was done without giving them a chance to actually equally fight back.

I think Draupadi really did spare Ashwathama's life. But MB is also a tale of Karma and Ashvathama's karma came back for all that he did.

Well i dont think in MB book its clearly mentioned why Drona took up the job of teaching the kuru princes whether it was for money or for revenge.
I mean there is no point in MB book where Drona says that i am doing this job becuase of xyz reason
Since its not clearly mentioned its upto everyone's imterpretation like many other things in MB
This is CV's interpretation

For Abhimanyu ...Jayadratha and Karna paid .
Regarding Ashwathama's jealousy , i would put it down to spasms of insecurity that quitened when convinced intellectually . Once Drona proved it to him by setting up a test to fill water in earthen pots that Arjuna actually deserved his extra attention as a pupil and Ashwathama agreed.

For letting rage do cowardly horrible act , Ashwathama paid too . He broke war rules totally .

The war was lost but he wanted Pandavas to pay personally .

I feel so sad to see this beautiful epic distorted in this serial . In one episode Dritharastra taunts Satyavati as hailing from fisher community

Satyavati was his grandmother . A Rajmata . is this a cheap Ekta kapoor serial ? Was the fishermen evacuation incident even there in the Mahabharat ?

Dritharashtra is so wrongly shown . He had great respect for Bheeshma , Satyavati and Vidur but was partial to his head strong son and often looked the other way . They should have stuck to his character exactly as portrayed in Mahabharata . It was actually quite enough .

The Satyavati - Dhridhrashtra thing was just a figment of imagination I think. I have never read of Dhrid being rude to his Grandmother or Bheeshm. He respected and was also maybe afraid of them a bit😊

Bheeshm too knew his boundaries. He respected the throne and hence he had to go wit Dhrid's decisions which would in later parts of MB be colored by Duryodhan and Shakuni..

As for Vidur, Dhrid does accuse him of being Partial to Pandu and Pandavas at many occasions but he immediately or soon later apologizes to Vidur too partly because he really did feel bad I hope and partly because he was afraid that Vidur would completely walk away leading to more problems.

There are a lot of interpretations in this serial about characters. Like Sabhyata said, Drona's character and his need for revenge is certainly being over zealously shown. There is also this tension between Kripa and Drona that was certainly not part of MB. Drona and Kripa from what I have read were on the same page.

Karna's near misses on seeing Kunthi is another example.

But this version has not been completely misleading., I remember watching just parts of EK's Mahabharat and laughing out loud on many instances. 😆

But I agree that the vices and emotions in this version has certainly been upped in the characters..
