No, that was a different Chitrangada. The 2 Chitrangadas who fought each other died.

Surya, I think Varaali was joking. Although given the total khichri they've made of the serial by now, it's hard to tell 😆

One more thing. About Prishata's curse - when Amba, after Parashurama's defeat, approached Drupada asking him to wage war against Bheeshma, Drupada refused, and so Amba left a garland at the gates of his palace. When reborn as Shikandini, she found that same garland and put them on herself. Point being - Drupada's sole enmity was w/ Drona, not w/ Hastinapur, and Draupadi was not the object of his yagna - only Dhrishtadyumna was. But since he got her, he decided to use her to win over Arjun.

And to answer the question, I don't think Amba was wicked enough to burn a field just to meet Shalva. She was haughty, but not wicked.

I have another question - it seems stupid, but here goes:
On SHalva was the person whom Amba loved. Another Shalva was Krishna's enemy. Were these two related? Like, Shalva I and Shalva II?

OH and also, why did Gandharva Chitrangada fight with human CHitrangada?

Amba loved Shaalva ...
Are u talking about "Shalya"? If yes, then Shalya was Maadri's brother, Nakul and Sahdev's maternal uncle. He fought from Kaurava's side in Mahabharat war.
He was made Karna's saarathi on the 16th and 17th day of war and it was him who demoralised Karna with insulting comments.
Sorry if u r talking about someone else 😛

No, Shalya & Shalva were different.

Due to the same name, it's sometimes thought that the Shalva who Amba loved was the same ruler as the Shalva who was a friend of Sishupala & Jarasandha, and who, after the Rajasuya Yagna, invaded Dwarka and caused havoc b4 Krishna returned to Dwarka & killed him.

However, the timelines as well as the locations seem to suggest that they were 2 separate kings. The Shalva who Krishna & Pradhyumna had trouble killing was in no way the same as the Shalva who Bheeshma easily defeated.

I have one more question. During the game of dice, Yudhisthir staked Draupadi, and his brothers as well. But if he could do all that, how come he forgot to stake Devika, Hidimba, Valandhara, Uloopi, Chitrangada, Subhadra, Karenamati & Vijaya? As 'possessions of his possessions' (the basis on which he could stake them in the first place), couldn't he have used them as 'back-up' options?

They didn't show it from Avantika, in fact they started from Saurashtra region itself.

Actually, this was what they showed

One more thing - if Satyavati is a widow, shouldn't she be wearing all white?

Oh how I wished he had staked Hidimba in the first place...

Actually this point always pricked me. Did the other wives of the junior four pandavas automatically become slave girls as well (and hence could not be re-staked?)

Of course here's where Draupadi's moot question comes into force. When Yudhishthira had lost rights over himself, what right did he have to stake her?

Varaali, there is a famous quote/poem by Mahakavi Bharathiyar on this right ? (Please pardon my ignorance)

According to Markendeya purana Draupadi was shuchi, the wife of Indra?

DRAUPADI'S FIVE HUSBANDS

The birds say- Frightened by the severe penance of Trishira, Indra killed him to protect his authority and power. But the sin of killing a Brahmin took away Indra's radiance. Trishira was the son of Twashta. Twashta became furious at his son's death. He plucked one strand of hair from his hair-lock and offered it in the sacrificial fire. This resulted into the creation of a formidable and strong demon named Vritrasur. This demon was created with the objective of killing Indra.

Learning about the birth of Vritrasur, Indra sent Saptarishis as emissaries to work out a pact with the demon. The Saptarishis effected a friendship between Indra and Vritrasur. But Indra had other ideas. He took Vritrasur by surprise and killed him. This deceitful action of Indra further enraged the clans of the demons. Soon the atrocities of the demons increased to unbearable limits. Even Prithvi felt unable to bear the burden of their atrocities. She approached the deities and requested them to get her rid of the burden.

Thus, to relieve Prithvi of her burden, the deities began to take incarnation on earth. Dharma and Vayu implanted Indra's radiance in the womb of Kunti. This resulted in the birth of Yudhishthir and Bheema. Then Indra himself produced Arjuna from Kunti. Nakul and Sahadev were born because of Indra's radiance implanted by Ashwini kumars in the womb of Madri. Thus all the five Pandavas originated from the same source even though they appeared as distinct entities, whereas Draupadi was none other than Shuchi, the wife of Indra, produced from the altar in Drupad's palace. In human incarnation, Draupadi got five Pandavas as her husband.

wow, thanks for the detail.

I've always wondered, Indra almost always does things wrong and all. why is he still called king of devtas? pls someone explain 😊

Pandu's mother, Ambalika had gone pale with fear on seeing Ved Vyasa. Satyawati had sent him to her after Vichitravirya's death as they still didn't have the heir they needed. He was born pale and weak, I believe. That's got to be the root of his name.

sorry, i didn't get this. why did ambalika get scared on seeing Vyasa?
