About standing aside- what I thought was- I told them I liked the actors and asked for an objective opinion on the characters- and they still didn't understand what I was saying- so I was like- what's the point saying anything in this forum. But then after a point of time I started noticing other points of views similar to mine making their presence felt, and I started contributing tot he threads...

Madhu is called a despo and what not. Everyday seems to have forgotten the scene where RK took off his shirt and forced Madhu to massage his shoulders. Apparently that was not despo behaviour, may be because he was wearing his vest or something. I recall a lot of fangirls whining that he didn't take that off too, but apparently that is not despo behaviour. But the female lead in a fictional show showing the barest hint of physical desire and she is called despo. Called so by girls.

I remember early in the story, when RK dragged Madhu to her critically ill father and gloated to him how he had married her, Madhu lashed out at him when they returned- she said "Tum insaan nehi, janwar ho".

Next day, there was this great long post titled with the dialogue and it went along the lines of "what right do we have to judge who knows what tragedy happened in his childhood...jiska jism ka kimat laga hua hai- how can you understand what goes inside his heart?"- It was in short a somber memorial for all the hardships RK supposedly had to undergo- and his past was not even revealed in the show. Yesterday and day before, I saw quite a few posts feeling sorry for RK, and asking Madhu to go away and do an ehsaan on RK (really? then why were they all jumping with joy when he dragged her back to his life?). What RK does is because of his untold sorrows. What anyone else does...well, how dare Madhu want to take revenge and not mend him lovingly?

You have pointed out incidents in this show that I didn't even know about because I haven't watch this show from the beginning. You ask ...how is this show different. I'll tell you how.

Correct me if Im wrong but its showing a level of emotional and pyschological abuse that exceeds what has been shown in the past. Not only that but for eg in IPKKND, the "hero" abused the "heroine" but he was shown to have empathy, love and loving attachment to all members of his family esp his sister. He was also shown to have remorse for when he lashed out and cause emotional or physical hurt to the heroine. I am NOT saying that a man doing this is ok. But I am saying that this is the first time they are showing a psychopath. rk does not have the ability to see how others see him...look at thursday's episode...EVERYTHING he accused dips of, applies to him. But can he see it? NO.

So..ppl can see dips as doing wrong but not rk. Why? Ohhh I'm asking the same question as you!! Well whatever the answer is...it sure has NOTHING to do with the portrayal of love and women on indian tv!! The hero is the hero...doesn't matter WHAT he does or doesn't do. The heroine has to be PURE as driven snow and if her love is pure she will change the the hero for the better! 🤢 BRAINWASHING comes to mind anyone??? And if its from DAILY indian soaps then DAILY brainwashing since CHILDHOOD?

I think it's going to be Rishabala Forever after Madhu has been suitably punished and humiliated by her lord and protector.

I understand what you say, and I hope CVs follow through this.

My question though was to fans who fail to recognize RK's abuse and say this show is a different love-story. The kind of love-story they have in mind would not be very different from the ones I mentioned, except for establishing a new benchmark for humiliating the heroine.

BRAINWASHING FULL ON- like I've said before, we used to have better and more diverse content before cable tv invaded, and yes, television preaches totally regressive values. There was this girl who was a good dancer and dancing was her passion but she gave it up when she married, and afterwards her sasural found out about her dancing past and were mortified and she had to endlessly apologize (even her husband was so upset about it) and now she doesn't dance expect family functions and is a good sanskari bahoo. But the promos showed a girl who had dreams of becoming a dancer. Sometimes I want to scream and throw things at the TV.

Rk - Madhu both have their good and bad..

but as far as the question is if RK should be with Madhu or not, I think it is Madhu's choice.. and the character Madhu's choice..if she wants to be with RK or not..

And as far as I get it, if she has to be with someone, she would always choose RK...just my reading..

But that just continues on and legitimizes the troubling theme in many serials. That in the end, the female will choose to be with this man. There's a difference between showing a unhealthy dysfunctional relationship, and the way Hindi serials portray all and everything as a love story.

The way RK-Madhu started itself is a huge problem, and it's not just limited to this show. Aside from the manhandling and jeky/jackass behavior with the female, the female is forced into a situation by the man himself,and eventually in these serials both male and female fall in love with each other. Many times the man is still a jackass though, but even if he is not. This is the question. WHY do people just blindly accept this? That the female was first thrust into the marriage or romantic relationship by force by the man

So basically. RK is supposedly Madhubala's first love. Because? Because he forced her (well, more like demeaned her, manipulated, blackmailed, etc) into a supposed marriage with him. So because of that, because of that, she eventually falls in love with this man who himself treated her like shit and forcefully tied her to him.

With this, we are supposed to be okay if Madhu ends up with RK? I know it's happened in other serials. And I am under no illusion of what Madhu still feels for RK. But here, as I've mentioned before, at least they've had the guts to go this far. I actually think it's quite genius to be so cruel in showing the love track, but then shatter it. 😆😆😆

The only question is how they will move forward. Will they have the guts, I don't know. See how much they emphasized again and again how disgusting RK's behavior is before finally taking this step of what people are calling grey Madhu. I still don't know if this can be considered grey, but that's another matter.
