I have been silently reading the topics created on this forum for a while now and have witnessed the members split into two groups: Rishabala and Sulbala.
I originally really liked RK and Madhu together, but ever since RK's revenge game was out in the open I can't bring myself to appreciate him anymore. Nonetheless, I tried to see good in his character with the hope that he will redeem himself. But after he dumped Madhu his behaviour towards her grew more and more unbearable to me as a viewer.
I keep coming across repetitive phrases like "I hate Sultan'". Hate is a strong word and one that is frequently misused. I would like you all to think carefully why exactly do you hate Sultan and try to judge objectively whether your reasons are sensible.
There are those who hate him because he is a "gangster", he is "interfering in husband-wife matters", he is "eyeing up a married woman", or because he manages to "make Madhu smile".
Yes he is a gangster, but why do many overlook the details ' we are well aware of the circumstances under which he chose this life. Also, even though he leads a life of crime, he knows where to draw the line! ' no harm must be caused to women, children and the innocent!.
I understand that many of you are irritated because he is interfering between Madhu-RK. You may think that he is doing this because he wants to have Madhu in his life- that's an assumption. Madhu told sultan directly that RK is no longer her husband, and Sultan has witnessed RK's rough behaviour towards Madhu especially when he manhandled her during the holi dance and then when he dragged her by her arm to the car in the middle of the road. Sultan already feels indebted to madhu for all that she has done for him and his son and if RK doesn't want another man to interfere he shouldn't have given any reason for a third person to interfere. But whether he admits it or not he has given Sultan a reason and under these circumstances Sultan's interference is completely justified.
Sultan has never looked or thought about Madhu in an inappropriate way. The looks he gives her are full of respect, appreciation and now-a-days filled with worry and concern. I feel Madhu needs someone like Sultan in her life at this point to give her a reason to smile (Aryan) and ease her burden by giving her the right advice. That's right, the advice Sultan the gangster gave Madhu to go and speak to her mum was much needed!.
When it comes to RK, I want to clarify that I like Vivian Dsena and his work, I'm just having a hard time liking RK's "character" post-revenge track. RK is "Selfish" and is only concerned about his own happiness and satisfaction. This is the main reason why he pulled the whole "revenge trigger" on Madhu. Then when she didn't sit around crying over her fate like RK expected and actually moved forward with her life he couldn't digest the fact that she can get over him to easily and lead a happy life, thus he "forced" Madhu to come back in his life ' again to satisfy his ego.
I can't help but find him kind of "sadistic". He likes provoking Madhu and gains pleasure by torturing her. He likes his "jungle billi" and so annoys her on purpose failing to realise that there are times when Madhu is seriously not in the mood for his silly games. Calling their break up a simple "nok-jok" is beyond me! It wasn't just a break up, it was a nasty one, a break up no girl can easily get over. He told her that every romantic moment they spend was a lie, part of his game plan to hit her where it will hurt her most. Whether he really meant these words or he truly does love her, we can't blame Madhu for not trusting him and his "love".
RK expects Madhu to shower every ounce of her love and attention on him and only him, yet he is not even willing to admit to her that he loves her. Instead he keeps ranting the same "you are my wife, only I have right over you". He uses the words "ex-wife" and "wife" interchangeably and he doesn't hesitate when it comes to humiliating the "woman he supposedly loves" in front of a crowd of people on NUMEROUS occasions. It started with the "4 phere marriage" and when he treated her like a servant in his home and as a spot on the sets. Then there were many other moments a few are listed below:
- Humiliating her in front of the chawl people when he dumped her
- Shouting and blaming her in the presence of bystanders when Sultan broke his car windscreen
- Embarrassing her by making her a body double in revealing clothes in front of the crew
- Implying that she is characterless in front of his family for "spending nights in a stranger's home"
Even after all of this he can't say sorry and simply stands around with a smirk on his face!.
Another thing that really struck me was that smirk RK had on his face when Padmini was shouting at Madhu for returning to RK! He knows how much Madhu's family means to her, yet he didn't do anything to try and sort things out between the mother and daughter.
Using his past to justify his present behaviour doesn't really make much sense. He past made him not trust the people around him. But his attitude and ego is a product of his stardom. What he did to Madhu was because she bruised his ego with the "four slaps fiasco". It had nothing to do with whether or not he trusted her. His main intention for marrying her was to avenge his humiliation and he humiliated her in return many times. But that wasn't enough for him so he played with her feelings and her love.
Amidst all the negativity RK is inflicting in Madhu's life, there are those who want rishabala should happen and RK should be given a second chance. In real life a girl in Madhu's place would never go back to a husband like RK. But this is a fiction show, so if people think it is OK for an abusive husband to be given a second chance, then a kind-hearted gangster should be given a chance also. I understand that RK and Madhu are the lead, but RK can't demand or force Madhu to give him a second chance ' He has to EARN it. Until he fully redeems himself and accepts his mistakes he is not worthy of Madhu's love. And in the meantime the romance between the two appears out of place and "forced". Loving Rishabala has made many hate Sultan with no apparent reason and there are posts made everyday fixated on hating Sultan and ending his track. I am not saying that you should love Sultan as well but at least appreciate the character as he isn't all that bad. After all its just a fiction show. 😊
My intention was not to upset Rishabala fans. These are my personal thoughts and I apologise if I have offended anyone.
That's all I have to say, thank you for reading.
