Improbablistan scenario: RK's hand is stitched up, but the psychological effect of the wound fails to heal. It festers for years, showing itself only in the form of clonic nightmares. Much, much later, when Madhu has time during their retirement, she helps him understand his pain and trauma by framing it as a loss of faith. Remarkably, he leaps out of the car and is (once again) a whole man.

Finally free of the anguish stemming from their years as entertainers in a soulless industry, the two retire with Bittu to the ashram, sewing chiffon shirts to support the swami. Happy endings at last!
