Will Shveta move to films?

Shveta Salve's quite happy about the kind of roles she's portrayed so far. Right from playing a bold character in Lipstick to playing a spy in SAB's Left Right Left, she says that enjoyed all. "I have fortunately done a lot of roles so it never gets monotonous for me," she says. It was in the dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa that her dance moves were appreciated by none other than director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. So any plans to shake a leg for movies too? "Few things are in happening, I'll let you once things get finalised," is all she's willing to reveal.

BIG MOVE? Shveta Salve

Costume drama: Aparna Tilak
Aparna Tilak aka Shalini Singhal of Left Right Left had a funny experience while travelling by car recently. Her driver skipped a red light but instead of fining him, the traffic policeman let them off with a royal salute! The reason? The actress was still in her Left Right Left costume of a cop, and the officer thought she was a police officer.

Says an amused Aparna," I was shooting at Powai when suddenly the electricity went off. So we wound up our shoot and instead of changing back into my daily wear, I went off in my costume. While we were driving, my driver skipped a red light by mistake. The moment a traffic policeman stopped us, my driver began getting his license out. But just then the officer approached the car, and saw me seated behind. First, he froze. Then he saluted me. I was taken aback. He let us go without another word, and we drove off."

In fact, it took Aparna a while to understand what had happened. "I took the next few minutes to figure out the officer's response," she says. "When I realised that my costume had misguided him, I was really amused. But I felt bad too as it's unethical. So I told my driver to turn back and I revealed the secret behind my outfit to the policeman, explaining that I was no woman officer. He was amused we both burst out laughing," she adds.

She's got the looks!!
IndiaGlitz [Monday, March 05, 2007]

Small screen diva Shveta Salve never ceases to mesmerise us and once again she made her mark when she recently was awarded the ' Face of the year' award at the Matha Sanman Awards 2007 ( Maharashtra Times Awards). Shveta is currently busy with Left Right Left and her cricket show called Cricket Star which she anchors.

Shveta who also happens to be a Maharashtrian , felt honoured to be awarded the best face of the year. "It's great to win such an award. And me being a fellow Maharashtrian feels privileged to receive it from my own people."

With her dusky colour and charming personality, she won most of our hearts ever since she set foot in the tele-world, but what got her rave admiration was the dance show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa in which she proved her dancing skills also as the strong contender till the final round.

Let's rock! Aamna Shariff and Rajeev Khandelwal
The off-and-on relationship between television's most charismatic couple Rajeev Khandelwal has now come to a flash-point. After staying apart for several months, the couple is back together. Says Rajeev, "Aamna and I are performing together at an award function on March 10 at the Andheri Sports Complex. It's a special event for us. People wanted us back together, so here we are. In fact we went live on a news channel on Valentine's Day answering people's questions. We were invited as Television's 'Most Desirable Couple' .We met after a long time on Valentine's Day. But happily, our fans didn't seem to know of our longish estrangement."

Rajeev and Aamna will now perform together. Rajeev adds, "I'll be performing for about 14-15 minutes on stage. Aamna will be with me for five minutes. I know people want both of us together. But whether we want to be together in real life would depend on our destiny. We've been very sensible about keeping our screen images and personal rapport apart. That's why our friendship has survived for four years."

Rajeev has avoided attending television awards in recent months. In fact, the organisers wanted him to dance with another popular TV actress Shveta Salve. But finally, the person sharing the stage with Rajeev is Aamna. So what keeps Rajeev and Aamna from taking the plunge? Says Rajeev, "We're two different individuals. The quality that I look for in my soulmate is comfort level. I'm too selfish and self-obsessed to look for a reflection of myself in my woman. I'd rather have someone who has qualities other than those that I possess. But right now the thought of marriage doesn't excite me. I want to first enjoy those years of youth that I lost in struggling for a foothold. At present, I'm really excited by being on stage with Aamna. The set has been done by Oomang Kumar. Ironically my performance is being directed by my namesake Rajeev Khandelwal who packages shows for Ekta Kapoor. Let's hope I create a dhoom on Saturday."

Producer Tony Singh's praise for
Rajeev Khandelwal

While many in the industry tend to thumb down TV heart throb Rajeev

Khandelwal as being a troublesome actor to work with, one person who believes he is a dream artiste is producer Tony Singh of DJ's who's directing him in Left Right Left..

"He is a perfectionist," says Singh. "And if there is a Khandelwal around you can be sure that everyone on the sets will be on their toes, right from the executive producer to the creative director to the unit hand."

Singh adds that he likes to put in his best; if he feels that the scene is not doing justice to the character, he talks it out with creative to make it work. "In the end, the character and the show tend to benefit. More than that he's a committed actor, " says Singh.

Singh says that the industry needs more Rajeevs around. "Once he even offered to take a cut in his pay, because he felt that I was in a spot during Left Right Left with the huge overheads on the sets," says the producer of successful shows such as Banegi Apni Baat, Just Mohabbat, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Left Right Left, Jab Love Hua and Jeetein Hain Jiskey Liya.

Left Right Left takes a break!

Together we can and we will! - Tony and Deeya Singh, the makers of SAB's Left Right Left threw a bash at The Club, as their show goes for a seasonal break of a month (read world cup fever). Seen here with the producer duo is their lead actor and TV's heartthrob Rajeev Khandelwal
Left Right Left takes a break!

I'm proud of my stars - Tony Singh is flanked by Aparna Tilak and Priya Arya. And Aparna, you would have looked much pleasant with just one bold accessory on your delicate frame! We opt for a chunky neckpiece sans danglings look.
Left Right Left takes a break!

And here's my mark of appreciation - Aparna Tilak plans a peck on producer Tony's cheeks.

A reason to smile - Seen from left are Mr. Vikas Bahl (Business Head SAB TV), N.P. Singh, (COO of Sony), Priya Mishra (Creative Head), the producer jodi and the chocolate boy, Rajeev. The party also showcased a special screening of the last episode of LRL.
Left Right Left takes a break!

There you go! - Amongst the celebs, Rajeev had a great time showing off their bowling skills! They also indulged in a game of pool and enjoyed the revelry.
Left Right Left takes a break!

Deepraj Rana and Puneet Issar had a rollicking time mingling with their team off sets.

What juxtaposition! - On a lighter note, we just can't help but comment on the stark contrast in the shirts Puneet and Tony are flaunting. Also the former's bald look next to the latter's hairy frame looks quite a picture.

Rajiv Khandelwal ready to hit the road
Subhash K. Jha [Friday, March 09, 2007]

Mumbai, March 9 (IANS) While his only serial "Left Right Left" on SAB TV has been given a break and the chance to spruce up its act, actor Rajiv Khandelwal, who plays the central role in it, is using the time to do what he likes the most.

"I'm going to travel extensively by car. I plan to take my mother and father on the longest drive ever from my hometown in Jaipur to Ladakh in the middle of March. I want them to experience this journey. I know they'll enjoy it," Rajiv told IANS.

He laughs at the suggestion that this is his way of being the family man.

"I don't know about that. If by family you mean a wife and children then that's a long way off for me. Yes, my parents are of utmost importance to me. And of late I haven't been able to spend much time with my parents. This break will give me a chance to do so."

Rajiv is prepared for the eventuality that his only serial "Left Right Left" might not return.

"The ball is entirely in their court. If they improve on the quality, I'm on. Otherwise, after I return from my road holiday with my parents, I will start preparing for my movie career."

Rajiv has a couple of film offers in the pipeline.

"But, so far, I haven't zeroed in on any project."

Rajeev Khandelwal on his passion for adventure sports and why he won't do a 'Nach Baliye' with close friend Aamna Shariff

As the show 'Left Right Left' (SAB) takes its seasonal break for 40 days in the wake of the World Cup Cricket series , speculations are rife that the lead actor Rajeev Khandelwal has quit the serial. Rumours suggest that the producers Tony and Deeya Singh (of 'Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin' fame) would be roping in a new actor to play Rajeev's character.

At the 'Left Right Left' ('LRL') party held at a bowling alley the sporty Rajeev was in his elements as he 'bowled over' nine pins. "It's not 'right' that I have 'left' the serial. In fact, my character Captain Rajveer Singh will be back with major twists. The show will introduce hot, new girls after the break," quips Rajeev.

Interestingly, Rajeev will be performing to two film numbers at an awards show which is being directed by somebody who shares his name! "It's strange that the show's director is also called Rajeev Khandelwal. It's ironical, how times change. There was a time when I was making documentaries and Rajeev was a noted video director. Aspiring girls would mistake me for him. And the moment they would realise that I was not the guy they were hunting for, they would flee. Today girls call up Rajeev and disconnect when they realise that he is not the TV actor they wish to talk to," laughs Rajeev.

Not many are aware that the actor has a passion for dare-devil adventure sports. "My secret dream is to para jump from the twin towers in Kuala Lumpur," enthuses the agile Rajeev who surprisingly is not game to compete in a 'Nach Baliye' with close friend and actor Aamna Shariff.

"Honestly, I don't consider myself a great dancer, because I have to make an effort. I am not cut out for competitive shows," he justifies. Meanwhile, producers Tony-Deeya are also working on their next show for 'Zee Next' (upcoming channel) called 'Jhoome Jiya Rey' which is minus Rajeev but with a bunch of new faces.

Budget Blues

It's that time of the year which decides the fate of our hard earned money. The budget for the year 2007 is going public. We ask our TV celebs what they expect from this year's budget.

Rajeev Paul

I would want the budget to help people live a comfortable life. There's no point making huge announcements if it does not help the common man. I hope the price of transportation comes down so that the states could benefit from each other's surplus stock.

Shweta Salve

I wish the new budget could bring down the real estate prices, which have really sky-rocketed. Moreover the tax slab on entertainment should be reviewed to help the sector.

Ronit Roy

Hope the budget this year has many pleasant surprises. The inflation needs to be beaten and I hope the new budget encompasses measures to curb inflation. Plus the economic health of the nation is pretty great and I hope that it would become better with the announcement of the new budget.

Urvashi Dholakia

I hope the new budget is made keeping the majority in mind, who belong to the middle class strata. The budget should help everybody have a good value of his/her hard earned money. I also hope that the price of commodities is brought down.
