Hammie - Thank you for showing not merely telling us in your daily WUs of this thread and your other "Old is still Gold~scenesLTL1" thread. In this thread showing the beginning Enneagram of Personalities in the characters so far: The individualist Dutta; The Challenger - Kala; The Loyalists - Leela and Roops; The Peacemaker - Naku. This much I elicited during the live serial without much translation at that time or any subtitles and now have been able to better understand and appreciate much more through your distinctive detailed WU.

Will continue to read as often as I can whenever I come to the forum. An immense thank you once again. Alex

Episode ~32

9th February 2010

Kala 's Room

The episode begins from the point whereby Roops answers the door to a knock. The visitor is none other than Kala. Roops laughs, and tells, Leela it's ok you can get out all the stuff it's only Kala Tai. ..so out comes the booze and the fags once again.. Kala checks out her glamour in her reflection in the mirror... while champagne is poured in glasses. Kala smiles at herself in the mirror and says, these fake smiles in front of Aye Sahib really tire me out... her sisters of course smile at her every word, thought and action.. Kala moans, don't know what happens to Aye Sahib ? every day she creates a new mess! She walks away from the mirror in a mood and her sisters , wonder , what's wrong?. Roops childish in her ways , suggests, till she returns, let's do a fugdi dance![a Goan dance, performed in Maharashtra too during festivals]Leela repeats fugdi!. Roops begs please just let's just this once! and let's sing that rakhi song too.. that one which goes may my brother protect me at all times! brother don't forget your sister after getting married! and the two hold hands and spin around playing the fugdi! .Kala now dressed in her silken kaftan, watches her younger sisters with a scowl.. you seem to be enjoying your selves, seems you two are very happy to meet your sister in law. Roops and Leela stop their dance but Leela, warns, .. SIL? that is if we let her become that..

Kala looks at them and moves towards the settee to relax with a drink.. have you got any ideas then how to stop her ? or you think it's as easy as playing fudgi..? Roops always desperate to please Kala spurts out , yes Tai I was going to think of one , but all the new shades of lipstick made me forget my idea! Kala pours her champagne in her tipped champagne glass, and says bitterly , you'll learn your lesson when your faces turn pale, she chides Roops.. she continues , once Bhau gets married he won't leave Supriya's side, and we will start preparing for his baby shower!.. Leela much confused admits, we don't understand Tai... Kala glares at her and reinforces, you can't differentiate between good from evil! how will you understand Kalavati, Leela?. Roops like a pupil in class who knows the answer, raises her hand and says, but I have understood .. Kala looks at her and wants to know what Roops has to say.. so tell me then what you understand?. Roops states with a big smile, that no one can understand you! and Roops laughs stupidly at her own lame joke. Fired up Kala stands on her feet and moans, first it was Aye Sahib! now it'll be the SIL! when will Tai Sahib , be able to rule this house?..our SIL , Supriya has arrived in this house, and you guys couldn't care if the neighbourhood burns down! as long as you get your fun! don't you know anything else? she scolds them. Leela defends herself ,but what can we do Tai ?.. Kala ponders, let me think of something that will stop love from sprouting into Bhau's heart...there should be fire, but without smoke... she motes the idea... with that she orders them to leave.. and they obey her command. Kala wishes to be alone, where she can hatch a plan.. so far, Kala seems frustrated at the dimwits, her sisters. She is far more intelligent than her sisters.. and when they seem to show a lack of understanding of how her mind functions, she gets exasperated...

Outhouse

Sethji sits cross legged on the bed.. learning Twinkle Twinkle ..little.. Babi asks him, are you studying son? Babi obviously finished her chores sits herself down on a chair and is delighted to see her son studying.. good! study well! she encourages him...and he smiles at her. Babi tells her son, Sethji , it's such a nice kitchen! I feel like staying there all the time. Sethji says to her , Aye get married to the kitchen then! and Babi replies, really its better than your babaa! you know Sethji what I cooked today? I made pilau rice, nan , vegetable curry! raita ! I cooked everything! Sethji moans. Aye I am trying to study, you can tell me later!.. but Babi is full of her kitchen and her cooking today , she carries on ,Sethji I made pilau with fragrant long grain rice today! what are they called .. yes.. basmati rice!. It smelt so lovely that I felt I stood in a rice field! and my mother calls my name, Babi have you gone nuts?.. the fields are so picturesque.. I loved it.. working in the fields.. cool breeze blowing, she says happily , and Sethji rolls his eyes at his mother's talk and giddiness.. finally she sits on the chair again and says , Sethji come here, please massage my feet, my feet are aching.. sure Aye he says and sits on the floor , massaging his mother's feet. She fondles his hair lovingly and says .. my prince, my good boy , tell me.. Sethji with a big smile says , my teacher has put me in the year below! Babi asks, but why are you so happy about being demoted??. Sethji continues, you know Anay ,Dutta Bhau's nephew ! I'll be in the same class as him now. Babi sounds disappointed , oh!, and Sethji gives a cheeky smile , yeah! all the children will be younger than me! so I'll be the eldest and most respected ! he says with a cocky smile. Babi chides him, ey! don't act smart over there!

Naku comes into the room, holding her hands in front, her head lowered. Babi looks up at her with a big smile, hey! Naku is here.. Sethji jumps up from the floor and takes her by her hand, to sit on the bed, come Tai!, here take a look at my new school bag !.. Naku has a FB of Aye Sahib introducing Supriya as her would be daughter in law... Sethji yells , here take a look at my lunch box it has a game with it!.. Naku has a FB.. how pretty she is our Bhau's fianc. and her names so beautiful as well.. Sethji shouts take a look at this new pencil box ! Babi tells him off, be quiet! can't you see she must be tired !.. Babi puts her hand gently on Naku's shoulder and tells her, Naku suganda told me how you pinned Bhau's fianc, but she also told me nobody said anything to you..she said your daughter has great value ! she saved Dutta Bhau's life ,that's why! and I said yes why not my Naku deserves it!. Naku in a trance moves to the window and opens it wide... Babi chatters on as she stands behind her daughter, and continues to tell her, sughanda said your daughter is very lucky! she came to this house and Bhau's marriage has been arranged! otherwise Bhau was never ready to get married, she's very pretty Bhau's would be wife? and yes sughanda told me she has a pretty her name too what was is it?.. A dead pan Naku almost whispers.. "Supriya" and Babi much excited resounds yes how lovely Supriya..Naku's back to her mother of course deters her mother from spotting the heart break evident on her daughter's face..Babi's overall exuberance due to her sudden change of circumstances contrasts with Naku's lack lustre.

Kala's room

One sees Kishore as a passive smoker in his bedroom.He complains as he blows away cigarette smoke with a flap of his hand..his wife looks on unimpressed as he protests, after you, finish smoking at least !open the windows! Jai Ganesh! and he goes to pull apart the curtains and opens the window. Kala sips alcohol, Kishore 's eye falls on his altar.. and he pleads, oh lord , give these women a little bit of wisdom! his eye than moves to the coffee table that holds his holy book wrapped in a saffron cloth with a rudraksh on top.. he is not amused to see that on the same table Kala and her sisters have placed their bottle of booze ,empty glasses, and an ash tray full of stubs, plus a burning cigarette omitting smoke. He looks on.. his religious sentiments much hurt, he moves to the table ,looks down at the ungodly contents and remarks cuttingly at his wife, outside you roam around like the dutiful daughter full of principles! and inside! wish someone could come and see what happens inside. An unimpressed Kala says, what can you see inside? yes Swami je, tell me ? Kishore retorts, swamp! quagmire! nothing but all day long conspiracies! plotting!. at least think about your son! that man Bhau who loves you so much, that he is ready to give up his life for his sisters! you conspire against him! Kala gulps the remains of her drink, puts her glass down , and much amused at Kishore's loyalty for Dutta moves to confront her husband. Calmly she says, the thing is Swami ji that you don't do anything, hence forth I have to do everything ..you have no time for anything ,except your devotion, it's like when the husband is ineffective! then the wife has to take action. Kishore retorts peeved, now if you're so unhappy after marrying me then why don't you leave me? but no! just to show the world you need a mangulsutra of my name! Kala hisses back.. Kishore your name can hang around my neck to signify our bond by this mangalsutra! but only till I allow you to.. and she dismissively says, with pleasure I shall take it off! and takes off the mangalsutra and chucks it on the floor!. she warns him, till you are my husband you are alive! and it won't take me long to wipe off the vermillion from my forehead! so here take your holy book! and go to the mandir!. But an irate Kishore continues his protest. I am not going to remain silent! I know what you three are up to! you don't want him to get married! oh for heaven's sake have some pity for him! once his heart broke before, he stopped believing in love.. here Supriya has come and there is hope that he will have another chance to love, but you three are busy pulling out the thorn named Supriya ! I am not going to be silent, I will tell Aye Sahib ! I will also tell Bhau ! he threatens. Kala reels to kill him with her looks and he simmers down immediately. Slowly she challenges him.. go on then go tell them.. as if to say Bhau will listen to you, you live at his mercy! insignificant before him! you have no identity of your own! you live in your wife's household! .. whosoever talks against Dutta's sister! Bhau pulls his tongue out of the gullet!.. she spits fire at Kishore and he advises her, then learn to value his love..what has he done to you?. Kala admits, he hasn't done anything , but the woman who comes in his life will surely spoil everything, first she'll come , then she'll give an heir! ..Bhau will begin to love her, so either he will end his profession, or will give all his assets to his heir and then what will happen about my son Anay ? and me? .. Kishore protest , Anay! is not only your son but mine to! and please don't drag him in this mess! he'll get a proper education and make a decent life for himself!.. Kala flashes her eyes and pokes fun at him.. like you? what are you anyway? just remember one thing dear husband, don't even dare to touch Anay's shadow, otherwise you'll never be able to walk! so you cannot even touch Anay's shadow .she repeats..

She sits before her mirror and much determined says, then so be it my mother... my brother ...or who so ever comes in my way! and her foot presses on and off at the lamp shade that displays her face in the reflection of the mirror, Kishore looks on at her face. half in shadow half in light.. have to say , that in this scene with all honesty Kala pours out what she really is all about.. what she wants.. from whom, why she wants it, and who are the people who can thwart her plans. She also reminds her husband about his status in her life and thereby in her family. With regards to her son, she clarifies her stance in no uncertain terms. For me the episode really belongs to Kala's might.

Outhouse

It's the middle of the night. All the family is sound asleep bar one person, Naku. She turns to her side, lies wide eyed and morose. In a trance she sits up. FB, of this is Supriya our would be DIL... our Dutta's would be, how do they look like as a couple? haunt Naku... she begins to feel the side of her face, her neck with her fingertips. Her eyes give a fixed stare... Tai's words to Supriya , give so much love to our Bhau that he can't remember any body... then the words of the maids , how beautiful is Bhau's future wife..and Naku as a woman is moved into acting .. into being what she really is..her silhouette moves towards a pot of water..she lowers a glass into the pot and pulls out a glass of clear water.. today she will clear and wash away some falsehood.. With her fingers tipped in water, she sprinkles the cool water over her face and spreads it around her face to free herself from the lie. Naku slowly dabs and presses

the sections of her face, with her chunni corner..yes she takes a chance but this chance today she is willing to take , and her cheek, the area around her mouth, her is rubbed.. and her applied colour is removed..

Her silhouette moves, as the open window blows in a a refreshing breeze.. she moves and sits before her dresser mirror. Her hand gives a final wipe to her cheek, her big bold eyes, her forehead and her neck to reveal her beautiful face..

Then it happens, her heart's desire he comes into the room from the side of the door, dressed in his black pathiani, holding his hands behind him..Saab moves slowly towards her and leans behind her as he peers at her reflection in the mirror.. his hands, feel her shoulders as he raises her up to stand and face him..Naku looks up into his hooded smiling eyes, and her hand moves up to feel his stubble cheek. His right hand moves her hair from the side of her face , as he looks down at her beauty with tenderness.. his hands clasp her hands and he raises them up between them as she lowers her eyes shyly , as once again he caresses her hair on the side of her cheek..and he raises her chin up with his folded forefinger.. then moves his finger to trace her fine chiselled nose, as his palm feels the beauty of her face... his palm moves...away from her .. as the title song laagi tujhse lagan plays on..

Naku finds herself moving back her wind swept hair.With a wide smile she sails around the different areas of Patil Nivas,. She moves ahead, and from the blue peacock area his tall dark figure emerges.. she sees him watching her approach, with contracted eyes brimming with tenderness and admiration.Slowly pushing her blowing hair back, she moves towards him.. as he moves regally towards her.. their eyes worship each other with immense love.. as the song plays on laagi thujhse lagan..laagi thujhse lagan...Dutta reaches out for her finger tips again, and looks in to her eyes and she shyly turns her back pressed against his chest... he presses the side of his stubble face against the side of her head.. she turns to face him as he holds her face in his palms and adoringly they look at each other saab says, where were you hiding your face?it is fairer than the moon..humm realistically he would never have said that to her .. finally they hug and she fits her head under his chin and he closes his eyes.. in ecstasy.. the camera spins as the couple stand in a close embrace their eyes closed ,lost in each other.. with a candelabra lit between them Dutta peers into her eyes.. and their foreheads meet..

As Naku's beautiful face, with her hair blowing in the wind appears in the reflection of the mirror.. she turns her head both sides, as she looks for him.. disappointed she runs her fingers through her hair near her forehead, and then sadly feels her face with her fingertips.. episode ends...Hamlet53 9.10.13

Precap: this cannot be Naku! a poor person's poverty is seen first and beauty later! Bhau took pity on our poverty and gave us refuge in his house...don't misinterpret his pity and goodness..

Episode ~33

10th February 2010

Outhouse

The episode continues with Nakus' dream sequence~ Dutta and Naku together in a warm embrace.. to the dulcet notes of the song laagi thujhse lagan.. Naku is seen by Dutta in her beautiful semblance.. his words, where were you hiding your face? it is fairer than the moon..humm? ring in her ears, she finds herself staring at her fair face in the mirror.. and her fingers feel her face..Naku smiles at her reflection in the mirror, but saddens too as Saab is not with her..she now sits alone before the mirror in the outhouse...just looking..at her reflection.

Babi slaps her arm! obviously bitten by mosquitos. Sethji sleeps cosily with her. Babi wakes up and calls, Naku! as she finds her missing from her bed. Rubbing her eyes she gets up from her bed and goes looking for Naku... yes Babi sees Naku's back along with her reflection, and is quick to ask her, what are you doing?. The wind blows Naku's hair as Babi approaches her and looks down at her. She sees her daughter's beautiful profile and her hand automatically covers her mouth in shock and she exclaims are you mad? why have you removed the colour off your face? Naku in a trance replies , I want to see what I look like.. you asked me Aye, what does Supriya Tai look like? pretty ,very pretty.. Naku's eyes are shown.. Naku says, her eyes are big, Naku blinks her eyes , her eyelashes , long and pretty.. Naku feels her cheeks , her complexion is oh so fair like milk, her lips are pink, Naku feels her hair .. her hair is so long and silky..she is a fairy Aye, a fairy.. have to say I loved this scene, Naku's words, where she puts her real self in comparison with Supriya.. Naku fights the case for her own beauty, the feeling that she is no less than a fairy herself!.. her mother, outwardly baffled by her daughters, strange talk , but nonetheless responsible for concealing this real fact , that Naku in actual fact is the fairest of maidens..

Babi, has to make Naku snap out of this meeting with her real self, what's the matter with you? Naku stands up and asks her mother, Aye I am beautiful? after seeing me can someone like me?. Babi looks confused,what? what are you saying, who should like you? who can like you.. dreamy eyed Naku says Dutta .. Dutta Sahib !this is about the only instance when she actually takes his name.. seemed very strange.. she sounded mad..

Babi stops her self from screaming , so she covers her mouth with both hands..Naku turns her face with a lingering dreamy smile.. her eyes shift, lower and blink gently.. at the thought of Dutta , while Babi's eyes overflow with tears of pain... Babi cries this cannot happen!she turns Naku around forcefully, it wont happen! Naku a poor girl's poverty is seen first and beauty afterwards, you've seen what happens when beauty is seen first!a beautiful , poor girl gets hunted by hungry wolves!and the rich just want to play with them..what are we in this palace nothing!only servants! We are poor folk running away from Morey! Bhau took pity on our condition and gave us shelter... don't mistake his generosity for affection my child, don't make that mistake you'll repent! advises Babi ,and Naku listens carefully to each word her mother says.. Babi carries on counselling her daughter.now how shall I say, rich boy ,poor girl their love , their marriage only happens on the movies!but reality is very different , in the real world , nobody needs a good heart to love, they all need just money ! you have to have status!that's why I ask you to forget about all this , forget love!and smear the black colour of poverty , on your face!do it! says Babi crying bitterly , as Naku watches on... and sits on the dresser stool. Babi reminds her you are this drunkard's daughter! you have no right to dream of prince charming , how can you? that's why I tell you ..forget him! forget about this! go sleep and sleep so soundly that no dream can come to you! don't you ever dream!andeven if the dream comes , it should not matter ! what are you going to see when you wake up in the morning? the same pile of soiled dishes in the kitchen!and your Supriya will sit by Dutta Bhau and say ey! wash the dishes quickly! what are you looking it! hen you'll forget wont you? won't you forget love then , won't you then?that's why I tell you, throw it out of your mind!.. Babi gives her a kiss and finally says , go to sleep now.. come..Babi gets back to bed and calls Naku too come to bed now...

But Naku sits on the stool crying... All in all a very realistic scene, where a young woman nurses a broken heart. Babi as the mother is fantastic, she guides, disciplines, advices.. in a veiled way she does compliment her daughter on having a pure heart ,but also makes her realize , truly in the real world it does not hold much weight.. of course not entirely true, but then Babi, speaks through past experience..

Dinner time

Mealtimes at Patil Nivas, is the complete family coming together, except this time there are guests present too.

Kala, who has eyes for only for her beloved Bhau ,notices him sitting over a plate of food, deep in thought, gently rubbing his fingers, with a beaming smile, Kala, points out, Bhau why aren't you eating anything , Dutta nods and replies dryly, I'm eating. Kala turns to Supriya's father and encourages him, kaka, you haven't taken roti, at least take one..she offers him.. Leela glares at the guest and gives a pungent remark, maybe he upholds the age old tradition ,that one should not eat or drink from the son in law's household. Both Supriya and her father seem embarrassed at Leela's rude remark ,and Roops chips in , but surely you can have porridge?, and Kala adds , no kaka we don't believe in such old fashioned traditions in our family! isn't that so Aye Sahib? and Aye nods with a simle. Supriya' s father says to Aye Sahib with a smile, Aye Sahib my daughter has good fortune, it's hard to believe it.. Supriya looks uncomfortable. Leela, rubs it in ,we don't believe it either, but Bhau likes Supriya so much that we have to believe.. Kala looks uneasy and so does Supriya after listening to Leela's terse remark. Dutta begins to look annoyed.. so hurriedly Kala says diplomatically, the thing is kaka, once Bhau bonds with someone, we all to bond with them.. Aye Sahib approves of Kala's timely intervention , as Leela smiles slyly..ensuring that the father and daughter are made to feel uncomfortable ..the plan of course is to see that this liaison between Bhau and Supriya does not happen..

Kala of course checks Dutta 's cold looks and says this to please him, see all we want is Supriya's hand in marriage, and she looks at Leela who continues, yes we don't need anything else from you, your daughter will be covered in gold, she'll flaunt herself dressed in fine jewels you'll see!.. Dutta steals a glance at Supriya.. her father's jaw drops! Supriya looks downwards, clearly not impressed. Roops exhibits her stupidity, after she hear's Leela's words, really? you bought new jewellery and no one even told me?. Kala checks her , Roops! kids are not told everything!.. Aye Sahib says to Supriya's father, shinde Sahib , I have one request, if you allow, can we keep your daughter here for a few days?. Dutta looks confused .

Supriya looks devastated. Kala and Leela, look very worried Aye sahib explains, thing is our Dutta is very shy, up until now he hasn't even spoken to your daughter, if they spend some together , they will get to talk and know more about each ..what do you think Dutta? is that ok?.. and Dutta says a brief ,ho..Naku comes in carrying a dish of food from the kitchen, which she sets on the dining table next to Baji . Naku looks at Supriya's face who looks up helplessly at her father , who gives her a big smile as his consent. Dutta suddenly turns his head toward's Naku and calls out, Nakusha! two spoons of rice pudding please!.. then points to his plate. Baji, looks at Naku standing beside him and points towards Bhau..Naku sedately, walks over Dutta's side and puts the dish next to his folded arm. Dutta briefly, steals a glance at Supriya who sits across him at the table. Baji catches this action, and teases,Naku you're so dumb!, Bhau meant a bit of rice pudding you serve vahini, isn't that so Bhau?.. and Dutta gives Baji a sided glare across the table, his folded arm pulled back with a clenched fist!.. Baji, feels his chin gently, at Bhau's unseen punch!.. Kala, looks at Baji distastefully, for calling Supriya vahini..

Naku, meanwhile looks at Supriya icily, and then looks at Dutta , and carries the dish over to Supriya's side.she stands beside her looking down at her. Supriya looks up at Naku and gives her a forced minute smile.

Naku can see that the girl sighs, and overall is tongue tied and unhappy. Naku, perplexed looks at the nervous play of her hands.. concerned she turns to look at Dutta who watches Supriya but lowers his eyes.. Kala too watches Naku caught in the middle nursing her broken heart, between Dutta and Supriya .

Supriya raises her eyes and looks across to Dutta, who gives her a tiny very forced smile, urging to taste the rice pudding... but Naku notes that despite Saab 's plea to her, Supriya's face shows reluctance , and she continues to rub her hands together in a bother... interesting scene, Naku's keen eyes here likewise Dutta's.. who says I read people's eyes.. reads Supriya's mind..here..something is amiss here, Naku suspects..

Guest Room

Supriya is talking to someone on her mobile, I am stuck her, I can't do anything..noo.. you don't understand, what can I do? she insists.

Aye Sahib barges into the room, and she sees Supriya sitting on the dresser stool. Alarmed Supriya stands up with her back to the dressing table, and as she sees Aye Sahib at the door, back handily she pushes back her mobile on the dresser..

Aye Sahib approaches her with a benign smile, and Supriya stands to attention before her, and Aye says, just relax, everything alright?, and nervously Supriya replies, I am fine Aye. Dutta's mother , lovingly, raises the girls chin and says, let me have a look.. my Dutta's selection is such that I can't take my eyes off your face!

Supriya musters up her courage and says, Aye Sahib, this house.. it's so huge.. like you all too, and I am just.. may be I don't deserve all this.. she discloses.

Aye Sahib , like Dutta , raises her palm to stop Supriya and chants, Jagdammde! Jagdammde!, don't ever repeat this again child! our Dutta never does anything without thinking. look child.. my Dutta, always stays quiet, yes he always smiles , but only a tiny bit! as if he's asking is this enough?..teach him how to smile.. how to laugh freely.. that's the kind of DIL we want.. child my Dutta has a very pure heart ..he never told us that he liked you, it was I who noticed that at Pathare Sahib's daughter he couldn't take his eyes off you.. then we got the message that he was impressed by you! then I asked your Aye , babba for your hand in marriage.. straightaway! really child, you will bring new light to this house!

One other thing more I need to tell you, for I don't want to keep anything from my would be daughter in law. Aye Sahib discloses, our Dutta has been deceived in love before. Many years ago a girl left him broken hearted... but Dutta never mentioned anything to us, but he just cowered up within! But me, I am his mother, he couldn't conceal his hurt from me !. But after seeing you it seems, that you can bring Dutta out of his pain! youcan teach him to smile once again! am I right child?. and Aye Sahib embraces Supriya lovingly.. the episode ends. Interesting episode.. both the mothers have contributed well in this episode.. Babi trying her level best to keep Naku on the right track. Aye Sahib, trying her level best in convincing Supriya to accept her son's marriage proposal. Supriya seemed vulnerable as Dutta's mother overpowered her completely.. hence Supriya after one try at showing she didn't want the marriage! was rendered speechless.. before Aye Sahib.

Precap: Baji calls Naku and gives her a folded piece of paper.. this is a love letter, Dutta bhao has given it, Naku asks ,who is it for?
