Needless to say, I agree 100 million percent. I indicated that I was impressed during live updates but slightly less impressed to hear the full truth was not revealed. Baby steps though. Baby steps to find a place for Abhi in my heart and sympathies.

True fact - you are my constant inspiration for bothering to be articulate. Abhi love is strong around here and it usually doesn't feel worth it to contradict it. It's easier to write in defense of love than in defense of disappointment, you know?

So glad you came by. And if you are calling me ji, I am taking away your koolaid and your kit kats!

She's also a placeholder for the audience. If she can get over it, why can't we? And really, should we, given the message that it sends when Pragya does?

Sigh - excellent post though. 10 out 10 stars.

Such a good point. We are meant to share Pragya's point of view. She is the perspective character. She is our placeholder. But we are not her and we don't have her reasons or needs to accept Abhi as easily as she does. He isn't our life partner. He isn't blindly beloved of our mothers and daadis. We aren't dependent on his shelter or his income. He isn't a living breathing presence in our lives. So our standards for him can easily be much higher than Pragya can ever afford.

Loved it.. Agree with you completely..

I have to say I don't understand the need to bring pragya into this mess in order to justify Abhi's actions.. Agreed both are fools although one surpasses the other in idiocy..

I agree Mina he's an idiot.. mainly because he doesn't have the courage to accept the consequences of his actions.. how long can one hide behind the feeble excuse of protecting his grandmother while his wife is continuously humiliated on his behalf.. My biggest issue with him is his audacity to stand around while P ruins her reputation in order to protect him from his own mistakes.. there are times I find it hard to believe he's the lead of this show.. I'm not overlooking his better aspects yet I refuse to overlook his stupidity either.. which at this point is harming others more so then him.. It's time he pulled it together and behaved like an adult..

Truly I only watch on and off mainly because it's tiresome to see the lead butchered time and again.. he chooses to stand around in the hopes someone else will solve his problem.. or it will just go away.. he has obviously accepted responsibility for Tanu's child one would think he would attempt to help P out by being honest for a change.. but then that is simply too much to ask atm..!!

Wonderful discussion going on here . It's his immaturity in this track which actually made me lower my expectations on him. He is so reactive here instead of being proactive. He is hoping some fairy godmother from The sky will come and sort things out. Some people said his perspective in on the baby is not shown. But that's not true. It has been shown in one of the episode s ,he says to Pragya in the red Saree that he can't let go of p or his baby. HIS baby. He wants the baby too. As a viewer I believe what is shown. He wants his illegitimate child and his legal wife. The child's mother is just an inconvenience now.

He fears to tell the truth to Dadi ,because of his dadis health . I wonder if this just an excuse and he actually scared of the consequences and that's why he does not want to tell her.

A lot has been said that he ready to take the bullet for Pragya and ready to die for her is proof of his love or redemption for his wrong doings. It's not as per me.The situation was that Pragya was standing in front of him and shielding him. She was the one who was ready to take the bullet for him. If he had stood there and watched the tamasha I.e watch another human being die for him from the sidelines he would have officially been the most shameless and spineless lead in the history of tv. He would have done the same if it were bulbul, Purvi, meethu fan girl or a stranger on the road or golddigger pragya. He does have basic decency and humanity ,that I admit.

Hi Mina,
I normally don't post anything on the forum outside of fanfiction threads, let's just say that I learned a big lesson from my older show days where there were fans fighting and protecting their fav, but here I decided to take the plunge because the topic is very tempting.
I have to disagree with you that Abhi needs to be congratulated for what he did, because I still don't think he did anything to be congratulated. If he had told Daadi the full truth, then he would have deserved it but he just told her the half-truth, that too the "safe truth". He did give big speeches but all I heard was "I told Pragya to lie because I couldn't see Daadi hurt." Which means "I forced Pragya to lie because I couldn't see Daadi hurt as I love her a lot and I am the ever dutiful grandson." When in truth, the whole lie started simply to save his ass.
I have only followed Abhi-Pragya story from the beginning and skipped everything else, so these are my thoughts. To tell the truth, Abhi has always come across like a dick (please excuse my language). Granted that he married Pragya because of a misunderstanding created by Aliyah but I still hold him responsible for everything that happened to Pragya after she got married to him. Starting with finding him in his bathrobe at Tanu's on their wedding night. The way Pragya had cried in the middle of nowhere at night, has been etched into my brains. Then the constant insults on her, the comparison to his supermodel girlfriend, the pin incident, every time he dropped her (once two times in a row and in real life, that could have caused her major harm and he didn't stop that because he felt guilty, it was because Daadi had taught/told Pragya to not let go of his hand while they danced, and she didn't leading to him falling down and learning the lesson and being scared of future such humiliation), don't forget his dirty dancing with Tanu for the reception, beating up Puneet, trying to get her drunk in the party to humiliate her (and he deserves no brownie points for looking after her, he did that because Daadi was mad at him and he didn't want to cause more troubles and he had no choice other than to stop her from creating more problems.), then the time, he instead of stopping Aliyah and Tanu, he joined them in the trying to project Pragya as a thief etc. Lots more but can't remember everything at once.
In spite of everything, I still LOVE and ADORE Abhi, not because he is a good at heart, loving person. NO, I care for Abhi so much because he is being played by Shabbir Ahluwalia. If Abhi was played by any actor other than one of my fav, I would have definitely hated him and wanted Pragya to find someone more deserving of her.
Granted, that Abhi has done a lot for her in many big ways, but the truth is that he was a douchebag to her. He is taking baby steps but he has a lot of growing up to do. He is still Daadi's little grandson and not a husband or for that matter, a boyfriend.
I know, many feel that Abhi shouldn't be punished for Tanu's pregnancy when he was not responsible but I beg to differ. Abhi is the only person to be blamed for this mess. Because he had given Tanu so much power that she can now claim to be pregnant by him. He didn't keep her at arm's distance. And they have showed us that Abhi and Tanu trying to spend the night together before Daadi crash landed on them all the time. If they had really decided on all keeping the limit blah blah blah, then he shouldn't have done anything that could lead to sex. When he screams at Tanu about the celibacy thing, it comes out like a last minute save from the CV, it did look kinda disgusting to me, as when I recall what they had shown, it was like "let's make out and do all the naughty deeds just not "sex"" what kind of keeping their limits is that?
He had thrown Tanu in Pragya's face a lot of times. He had more than once asked Pragya to get out of the room as he wanted to romance Tanu. He had let his girlfriend and sister, insult Pragya and torture her. During the karvachaut, Pragya genuinely kept vrath for him and Tanu kept fake one, still he appreciated Tanu's and called Pragya's fake. Till today, he doesn't know the truth but now he knows Pragya and I don't see him recalling all the times he had hurt her and humiliated her, and realized that he had wronged her, and it is not in her character to manipulate or do such things he had accused her of. He did apologize to her when he was shot but that doesn't count, simply because in deathbed, people do apologize to everything that they did. He had to be in deathbed for him to grace Pragya with an apology. Pragya deserved more than that.
I don't blame Pragya in believing that Tanu is pregnant by Abhi and Abhi & Tanu wants to be together, because as far as Abhi had showed her, that is the truth. Pragya's reading on Abhi's hesitance, regret and inaction in this whole pregnancy situation is that Abhi is worried about Daadi being hurt, and not because he has started to love her. In her eyes, she is the hurdle that Abhi and Tanu have to cross for their happily ever after. The only thing stopping Abhi to "do the right thing" is that she is his wife and his Daadi adores her. So she goes about doing what she things is the right thing however illogical or stupid that is.
Even after Abhi found out about Tanu's pregnancy, the first few episodes, he was more interested in making Pragya confessing her love than he taking care of the matters. And I guess the audience reacted badly to that so CVs then changed that track and he became a mute spectator and he speaks up only when every member of the family had insulted and accused Pragya, then he would as usual swoop in to save the day.
I still don't think that Abhi has redeemed himself or done things to deserve the love and adoration Pragya is giving him. He needs to go a long way before he is worthy of her.
I do agree that Abhi needs to man up. He needs to man-up and tell Tanu, "Talk to me. Scream at me. Don't scream and pressurize Pragya for anything because it is not her mess to clear. It is OURS. Most importantly yours as you were in your senses while I was drunk when it happened and you could have stopped it or taken precaution as you know my situation." Here he is avoiding Tanu like anything while he says that he wants his baby and family's vansh is growing in Tanu. Abhi has become a mere spectator while he should be proactive, instead of redeeming Abhi in this track, the CVs are ruining his character. Abhi told Pragya, that he will take care of the whole pregnancy issue, if that is the case then he should do something about it when he knows that Tanu is forcing Pragya to do many of the stupid things that she is doing. He has seen how Tanu is manipulating Pragya into doing all this. But he is just standing back and watching the drama. Truthfully, Abhi is acting like Pragya got Tanu pregnant, and while she sorted out the mess, he is standing back and wondering how the hell that happened.
And after watching K-soaps for over a decade, I think it is safe to assume that when Abhi gathers the courage to tell Daadi the truth, that time Daadi would find out the truth through other sources. Again, the chances of his redemption goes down the drain. Though I do have some hope with KKB, as this is one of the few K-soap, that has managed to bring out most of the truth and proving the innocence of the character but it still manages to keep the negative character safe from exposure.
Sorry for the rant, but had to say it. Don't even know if I made any sense as my thoughts were all over the place. Let me, say this once more that I LOVE Abhi, and want Pragya and Abhi to get together, (only because it is Shabbo❤️).

@book worm - good analysis
As I said in one of the old posts.. Just because he was open about his relationship with tanu in front of pragya does not make him justified! I mean the one which he says during the mms track.. It was a faltu logic which he gave when pragya tells about his right to question her when he himself is in an illegitimate relationship.. He was doing all sorts of nonsense with tanu infront of pragya.. But after he came to know about the pregnancy issue he is saying to tanu that they agreed to stay in limits and be friends after marriage! 😲 🥱 Actually like purab and pragya claim at times.. Abhi is a darbokh.. Just didn't have courage to do what he wanted.. Be it convincing dadi about his affair before marriage with pragya.. Or correcting his hysterical sister or now facing the truth of his acts.. There were so much nasty remarks which were passed on pragya during that mms scandal.
So abhi deserves some punishment..

Abhi opening his mouth for pragya is just a small attempt of him to show that he has spine. expecting much more 😆

Lazy, thank you so much for posting! It's great to know you still follow the show. I loved your AbhiGya fanfictions this time last year. Will there be more? ;)

I actually agree with you on most points. You'll note that this thread was started before Abhi's big confession scene was concluded. There was still a chance he might've told all, and I was congratulating him for starting on that.

But as you've noted, the CVs didn't take it in that direction. Abhi got away with half-truths again. He still looks like a good guy who never does a bad deed without a noble reason. No one is mad at him because they're not allowed to know the extent of his duplicity.

The only thing I really differ from you on is the link between Abhi and Shabbir. For me the character has to be bigger than the actor. The actor is a mechanism; the character is the creation. In this case Shabbir brings a lot of his own talent and innovation to portraying Abhi, especially in the lighter moments. But the broad outlines of the character, his choices and his motivations, have nothing to do with Shabbir. For myself what I value in Abhi is what I value in all characters - his potential. So as much as I admire Shabbir, he doesn't help me cope with my problems and dreams for Abhi 😆

Just gonna quote some of your points because I love them so much 😊

He is still Daadi's little grandson and not a husband or for that matter, a boyfriend.
-> YES. He doesn't even want to be anything else. Not even a grown up. Just a good grandson and brother. And not a brother anymore either.

And they have showed us that Abhi and Tanu trying to spend the night together before Daadi crash landed on them all the time
->True. My memory recalls some canoodling in his vanity car last summer.

I don't see him recalling all the times he had hurt her and humiliated her, and realized that he had wronged her, and it is not in her character to manipulate or do such things he had accused her of.
-> How powerful it would be to see this!! Audiences don't have the appetite to sit through so much angst and regret. But it would be more emotionally honest.

He did apologize to her when he was shot but that doesn't count, simply because in deathbed, people do apologize to everything that they did. He had to be in deathbed for him to grace Pragya with an apology. Pragya deserved more than that.
->She does. He wronged her when he wasn't in extremis. yet he had to be in extremis to apologize. And then that somehow erased everything and he never had to acknowledge it again. It's like he's not sorry for what he's done when he actually has to live with it. Wish this had been handled better.

Abhi told Pragya, that he will take care of the whole pregnancy issue, if that is the case then he should do something about it
->Only in our dreams!! Even Pragya doesn't take him at his word.

Truthfully, Abhi is acting like Pragya got Tanu pregnant, and while she sorted out the mess, he is standing back and wondering how the hell that happened.
->Of course I loved this line because of the humour first, but on consideration I think it's actually a really fair point of view for Abhi. Pragya DID get Tanu pregnant, by allowing her to carry on with a man she wasn't supposed to. How can Abhi be expected to intervene here? He is but the sad prop between one woman who made a bad choice and another who didn't stop her. 😛

Sorry for the rant, but had to say it. Don't even know if I made any sense as my thoughts were all over the place.
-> What sorry!!! So glad you did say it. I did find it fully made sense. And the recounting of Abhi's wrongs in the early days - Uff!! Shivers!!! Thank you for posting 😊
