Mina, great post. Agree with all your points. With this first baby step, he has begun to redeem himself that too only IF Abhi discloses the entire truth to dadi.
BIG IF. But best IF. Hoping against hope. Love the CVs for giving us this much at least. Makes me believe we can see a redeemed Abhi, which will be a satisfying thing indeed.
I can not comprehend the celibacy part either though I will foolishly swallow it in the interests of Pragya.
You and me both! And Pragya too. I wonder if the reason they haven't shown her learning this is that she would laugh in the face of anyone daring her to believe that? Probably not. I have a pet story idea where she actually sees them having sex on his bed while married to her. And eventually decides not to hold it against him. Because the sex or the intention to have or not have it is really not as important as a lot of other things.
Abhi's spending the night with Tanu in that bathrobe on his wedding night is still etched in my mind. Him poking Pragya with a pin, making her fall several times, physically hurting her and emotionally wrecking every bit of her self worth, his bringing Tanu into the room and yelling into Pragya's face that he loves Tanu and despises Pragya, his adamant refusal to believe Pragya about Purab, his locking himself up in the room with Tanu and blaming/slapping Pragya's cousin,
How I still burn about Puneet. I wanted to see Tanu's dad returning the favour and throwing Abhi publicly down the stairs in support of a false accusation.
his continued sadistic treatment of Pragya from their so called honeymoon to humiliating her at every chance he got, his slapping her in a fit of little spoilt boy rage - in my view, Abhi has a long, long way to go before he is fit to be Pragya's husband and deserving of her love and respect, no matter she accepts him as is.
YES. She accepts him. She idolizes him. He. Does. Not. DESERVE IT. And to give him credit, he doesn't believe he deserves it. Now if only that would motivate him to stop being so scared all the time and step up to the plate. Amazing that he finally is speaking some truth. But that's not stepping up to the plate so much as imploding from internal pressure.
I am glad Abhi is in the soup he is and it will be like soothing balm on an open wound to see him squirm and lose dadi's respect. It will be entertaining to watch him extricate himself from this mess of his own creating but Abhi being Abhi as has been said in his defense in the past might just go along with the flow, playing no active part in resolving the situation, allowing Pragya to attempt to save his face while he looks on confusedly with a little boy lost look.
It serves the serial's interests to have Pragya proactive and Abhi reactive. More pity for us. CVs have done a truly wonderful thing by showing Abhi finally standing for the truth. I don't dare believe they will take this as far as it needs to go. But oh how I hope!
I will shout out congratulations to Abhi the day he stands up for his love, publicly owns up to his mistakes, and earnestly pursues his love.
Yes. Until he can face the shame, embarrassment, disappointment and judgment of those he cares about and the world, he is a coward. Until his love takes priority over his lies he is contemptible. Maybe he can't change all at once. Maybe he will never fully change. But definitely his small improvements are to be noted...and for those of us who want to like him, even celebrated 😉
