At the trailer launch of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari in Mumbai, Janhvi Kapoor addressed the recurring speculation around her marriage. The actor made it clear that while her new film is set against the backdrop of a big wedding, her own plans are firmly focused elsewhere.
“Abhi meri planning sirf filmo ko lekar hai. Shaadi ki planning ke liye bahut time hai,” she said when asked about wedding rumours.
Janhvi, who is currently in a relationship with Shikhar Pahariya, the grandson of former Maharashtra leader Sushilkumar Shinde, added that her priority right now is her career. Shikhar is also the younger brother of actor Veer Pahariya, who will be seen in Sky Force.
In a recent conversation with Vogue India, the 27-year-old actor spoke more candidly about her long-term vision for marriage. “I know I want to get married in Tirupati. I definitely don’t want too many people there. I want it to be quick; I want the honeymoon to be very long. I definitely know that whatever I wear will be Manish [Malhotra], because he’s my favourite person and he’s family,” she shared.
Janhvi also reflected on how the perception of marriage for female actors has shifted over time. “There was a big stigma in the industry, and in general, that if a female actor got married, it meant her career would end. But I’m so happy that the biggest heroines in our industry have changed what that means, from Kareena to Deepika to Alia and Kiara. I feel they’re doing some of their best work after getting married—and I don’t think the audience’s gaze toward them has changed,” she said.
She added that while she envisions giving her best to marriage when the time comes, the present is dedicated to films. “Right now, I’m not at the stage where I can lose focus from my career and shift my attention, or even divide my attention with anything else.”
Meanwhile, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, directed by Shashank Khaitan, features Janhvi alongside Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Akshay Oberoi, and Maniesh Paul. The romantic drama will release in theatres on October 2.
