But shavi Sona changed her decision not to appease Bijoy...it was upon the instruction of Ishwari...she intervened and passed on her verdict...she stressef on following the rules but conveniently omitted the clause that all 3 will be staying together...ishwari thrusted her decision on sona which she simply followed
Whats your take on the final convo? What must have triggered to that?

I agree that Ishwari intervened. But she did because of what Bijoy started saying. He asked why they stayed back. When Sonakshi gave the reason that it was for Suhana to spend time with Ishwari, he immediately went on to say that Dev/Dixits forced them. When Sonakshi tried to negate that too, he went on the third track stating Sonakshi staying back cause she thinks there is hope for her relation with Dev. He also continued saying how she was previously treated there and emotionally blackmailed her asking if she had felt that she was not happy at Bose house and that is why she decided to stay there.

In all this Sonakshi not once stopped Bijoy. She could have very easily told him that she is not looking for reconciliation nor she was forced and she was the one who took the decision. She should have owned up the decision. When Dev came there, he did say it was her decision and even said he supported her. He had not asked her to extend, that idea came from Sonakshi herself. When one makes a decision, they need to stand by it(not intended to hurt anyone). Isn't this what Sonakshi complained about Dev. That he doesn't stand by his decision in front of his mother. But that is exactly what she did.

Ishwari also doesn't think Dev and Sonakshi should reconcile. So when she heard Bijoy making that suggestion and Sonakshi not refuting it, she interfered. She wanted Sonakshi to leave so that everyone can stay in peace especially Suhana. Bioy has previously created so much of disturbance that Ishwari knows that unless his words are met, he will not believe what anyone tells. He will only believe what he wants to believe.

The other side of it is maami's words, that she is "still Dev's God". She no longer believes that to be the case, but with maami saying it, she is thinking "can it be". And her reaction to the whole scenario was just her testing waters. She was trying to measure where she stands with Dev and when Dev said "hum teeno", she was stunned. In all this time, Sonakshi did not really talk which is something she should have done and tell the truth.

As to their last convo, @Mallika has given the appropriate response. I totally agree with her take. 😆

May 9, 2017 - Tuesday

Dissecting episodes this week would happen only during the weekend for me, but I wanted to share a glaring faux pas I noticed, when the episode began. The pre-cap on Monday showed an angry Bijoy staring at Asha with his mop of white hair nicely perched on his head. Yesterday's episode repeated the same sequence and there, Bijoy was fuming with coloured black hair and a haircut. It was hilarious. Guess the scenes were shot twice!!!! 🤣

I think the script is moving towards Dev letting go of Sonakshi as he considers Jotin to be her happiness! Sonakshi realisation would happen thereon. Bijoy has turned into an irritating and interefering father. I am happy Saurabh gave it back to him - finally. It's time Sonakshi also spoke her mind.

Let the discussions continue.

I loved the last Dev-Sona conversation in yesterday's episode. Dev has clearly opened up a lot to Sonakshi regarding his family, and even involuntarily ended up confessing his feelings to Sonakshi, that he has always wanted her with him.
About the "itne saare bacche" part, it clearly indicated the magnitude of Dev's yearning for Sona. But, how do you think Sona must have felt hearing that? I am confused. Because on one hand she may feel overwhelmed on learning how much he yearned for her, but on the other hand she felt so hurt by her treatment at Dixits when her infertility was unveiled. She may still have difficulties conceiving.

Highlights of today's episode :
# First time heard papa bose addressing his daughter as sonakshi. Usually he says shona or beta.

# Ishwari ji was very calm n composed today even after seeing a hyper bijoy . Jai mata di ! Or is this calm b4 the storm ? I liked mataji's saree as it looked like the ones she used in season 1 in earlier episodes wer she was nice n sweet to sona ( khadi silk , tusser silk types )

# Mamiji n her accessories . Viewers'll get confused as if mamiji is the real FL of this show.. nice sarees, ornaments ( poore jewellery shop leke ghoomti hai ) even some good night dresses those compared to sona's but watz the big deal if the business tycoon Dev Dixit is only using a sky blue printed bed sheet for almost each n every day ..lagta hai fevicol se chipka diya hai , change karne ka naam nahi leta )

# Saurav - papa bose face off. But well needed one , sometimes v need to take a stand for ourselves . Saurav reminded bijoy that dictatorship is goin on in bose house as well as bjoy thinks dixits wants to control sona's life. But infact ishwari agreed to bijoy's decision as everyone shud follow the rules set by both. Wen'll bijoy realise wer he went wrong for interferring in his daughter's life unnecessarily ??

# Ishwari still thinks bcoz of sonakshi , dev's dark past hapnd & she lost her son . She cudn understand the actual reasons as y sona left dev or rather she didn want to know. Ishwari understands only wat she wants to understand or hear only wat she wants to hear . As far as her bhabhi is der to instigate n manipulate her, she 'll b oblivious to watz happening around her .

# Dev n sona.. "Stupid pana, chote baal, floppy hair , mind control". One thing for sure, Dev likes season 1 sona more with long hair. He simply blurted out his mind as had he been in control of someones' mind , he wud've control sona's , then she'll b madly in luv with him , they'll b together, they'll hav many kids & they won't get separated .

I hope saurav's outburst will make bijoy introspect a bit.

Try as I may I am not able to digest the supposedly forthcoming track predicted by Shaavi . I hate third angles and their contribution to the stories. If the leads love each other hopelessly they should come together on their own but not because of a third person who sits in the mandap ready to take sath pheras with the heroine.

How ridiculous it is if Sona needs a Jatin to realise her love for Dev! We watched how firm Dev is in love. I am sure he will reject Iswari's suggestion to get married again. RR's plan will fall flat on her face. So poetic justice lies in showing Sona shut Bijoy up and declare she won't marry Jatin.

Surely the makers should start showing Sona listening to her inner voice that enlightens her she is born for Dev only. There is no lapse from Dev's side since he is being vocal about his undeterred love for Sona. I don't think he should prefer Jatin for Sona undermining his own worth. He should always say" I am the only one for you."

I would prefer if Dev and Sona take a decision to marry to avoid Iswari and Bijoy's attempts to get them married to others. They can do it for Soha right now. Then Sona can take all the time in the world to reconfess her love for Dev. Together they both can cure Iswari's insecurities and throw Tripathis out of IN by exposing Vicky and RR's deeds.

I am desparately hoping against hope that no Jatin marriage track happens. It will be a rehash of Ritwick track and many similar tracks of Ekta shows not to forget Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

Great discussions about the Soha/Golu balancing issue, everyone. The way I see it, parents will be partial to one kid or another at certain moments; it's just impossibly superhuman for them to be one hundred percent equal, one hundred percent of the time. When they do this, however, it's their responsibility to catch themselves and balance it out as soon as possible so the first child does not feel left out or less worthy of the parent's love. So far, I have seen Dev being very conscientious about Golu's feelings despite the fact that he occasionally gets carried away in the novelty of Suhana's presence and person. I have no complaints against Dev's handling (so far).

What I meant when I referred to keeping score, is that once Mami put the idea of competition into Golu's head, he began to observe Dev with a default suspicion. This puts Dev constantly on the backfoot, having to prove his love by doing right by Golu -- the minute he slips up, it becomes a much bigger deal than it has to be. And that is what I think happened to Sona after the first break-up. She never wanted to keep score, but she became cognizant of the fact that this is what Ishwari was doing, with her as an opponent. She kind of lost sight of the fact that Dev needed her in a completely different capacity, and that there was no need to acknowledge Ishwari's sense of the situation when Dev's was so different.

Ishwari's secret weapon was always her self-assuredness. Even if it wasn't true, she made Sona believe that Dev wouldn't put a toe out of line without her permission, and that everything else was dispensible, even Sona herself. Sona never displayed that kind of confidence, even after Ishwari had to come to her house begging for her to marry Dev, and that to me has always been the missing piece of their relationship. With this Khatri thing, Sona is falling into the same trap again. She still believes that the way to Dev's heart is through his mother, and it's partially true but the key is that Ishwari is not the *only* way to Dev's heart.

The heartrbreaking irony of it all is that Sona can take up residence in Dev's heart whenever she wants -- he is waiting with the key in his outstretched hand, but for some reason Sona feels like taking that key and occupying that house is cheating. She wants to prove that she deserves it. And this is where DQ's point, that she wants Dev to stand up for himself, comes into play. Sona believes that Ishwari owns Dev's heart, and therefore that he is trying to give her something that doesn't truly belong to him in the first place. Right now her method (and the method she followed during their marriage) is to try and win the space from its "rightful" owner, Ishwari. The other method that Sona hasn't forseen is for Dev to assert in a way that convinces her, that this is *his" heart and he can have whomever he wants there (not unlike what he said to Mami about Asha being a guest in *his* house).

On the other hand, with regards to yesterday's conversation, Dev is desperately trying to show Sona that they are already in a relationship. Putting his poor listening comprehension to productive use this time, it seems Dev only heard the part of Ishwari and RR's conversation about how it's obvious where he and Sona are headed -- and he promptly went to report it to Sona. While Sona is desperately trying to convince Dev that any potential for a relationship between them is only in his head, Dev is triumphant to show her evidence that other people see it too. "You can't say it's only in my head," he tells her, "because I don't have the power to make other people think what I think, and it's in their heads too. When it's so clear to my mother and mami, to your baba, that something is going on, why can't you accept it?" I liked this questioning... Dev is breaking out of that submissive acceptance of whatever Sona says their relationship is and waking up to the fact that he isn't the only one who sees their benaam rishta. In fact, Sona is the only one who is denying it.

Last point is one about Sonakshi's choice of problems to solve. I was re-reading one of my favourite novels the other day, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. It's a book about four sisters growing up in late-nineteenth century America. In one of my favourite chapters, the two most outspoken sisters have an argument about the best way to show love. Amy believes in doing little gestures whenever one has the opportunity, while Jo believes in grand gestures, but hates delivering the expected, day to day niceties. Sona reminds me a lot of Jo. I feel like she looks for grand gestures to prove her love and loyalty because unlike Dev, she doesn't have confidence in her ability to reach out to people and build relationships slowly, through little gestures.

I think this is why we haven't seen Sona reaching out to Golu as much, though I would say he is equally important to Dev, if not more important than Ishwari, at this stage in Dev's life and would be a much more accessible way to support Dev in a meaningful way. Sona trusts her ability to nab a hardened criminal more than she trusts her ability to make friends with a little kid, and I find that endearingly consistent with her character from the beginning of the show. Sona never sought out relationships; she let them come to her and fulfilled them beautifully once they did.

Sona recognised and appreciated Dev's ability to make up for seven years in seven days with Soha. With his focused effort and recurring, effusive expression of his feelings, he managed to make it seem like he had always been a part of his daughter's life. This went a long way in assuaging Sona's guilt for having kept Soha from her father for all these years. But along with the work of winning over Soha in such a short time, I am waiting for the day she recognises the invisble labour Dev had to take on, of managing Golu's demands and expectations, along with hers and Soha's (which again, he is doing a pretty decent job of so far). Dev is taking on the daunting task of parenting two children simultaneously in vastly different familial structures, without making either of them feel like they are getting the short end of the stick. This is a choice that Dev has made, a challenge that Dev has taken up and while he will be appreciative for her help when whole Khatri thing is over, this is what it is going to come down to. Can Dev assert *his* choices as an individual, and can Sona support them?

Great discussions going on here. Thanks for all the contributions. 👏

Deepa, I am going to exercise my haq and link your post. Absolutely hear you on this one. What is the pendulum ka baap supposed to do? I felt so bad for Bijoy. Ishwari, Dev and Ronita treated Bijoy better than his own family did.

Bijoy is a loud and interfering father. But he is a father. He is an elderly man who was hospitalised as recent as 10 days ago. Where is the empathy for him? He does not listen, but that does not mean he will be allowed to shoot left right and centre like a lose canon. I wish Saurabh and Sonakshi would take lessons from Dev on how to take care of your parents when they are acting stubborn. Bijoy comes from a place of prejudice against the rich, however, he made it very clear where his issues with Dixits, Dev and Ishwari lie - his daughter cried and he could do nothing to ease her pain. He refuses to accept his contribution to the problem. However, just for his age and place in the family he needs to be treated better. How does he know Sona isn't going to come back and ask him to put his retirement plans on hold yet again?😕 What if he came to Delhi only for the week to be able to spend time with Soha and Sona and he is due back in Kolkotta the week after? Ishwari is right, it's not Bijoy's fault that Ishwari had to extend her stay and miss out on her time with Soha. It's only a matter of one week... They want to bend rules, they got to go slowly. What about all those hours of childcare and nurturing he has done for Soha.. Does he not have any right to know what exactly is going on...? He needed to calm down, but again, when Ishwari went and sat in the temple and refused food and water, her son moved mountains to bring her back. That is how parents should be handled when they start acting like kids.

Bijoy has the same concerns as Ishwari. He is worried Sonakshi (and for him to address her as Sonakshi means he is genuinely worried deep down) will again swing back with full force. He is worried Ishwari has again exercised her veto rights and changed the rules in her favour. No one has empowered him with knowledge. How about someone saying to him, let's call Sona. We were waiting for you to come back and decide what to do next...

When he reached IN, Sona gave him no information to make him feel confident that she is fine there. I am glad Bijoy asked Sona the same question that Dev has asked her already. What is this benaam rishta (great post above @Sam)? Sona should have said to him, baba, if you won't come in, let us go to the nearby coffee shop and talk. Ma visited us and we visited her when you were away. Its going better than I expected. I too was so nervous initially. I am so glad you are back in town... I will reach out to you as soon as I feel pushed. Everyone here is right. I made the decision to extend our stay. Shall we go pick Soha and I shall again bring her over for lunch tomorrow... Could you ask Gunni to cook xyz for us...?

As for Saurabh... yes bijoy had it long coming... however, your old man just came home. Its sweltering outside. Why don't you talk to him in a bit? Why does he have to be yelled at in front of your new bride? If Bijoy can't handle the truth gracefully, you don't hide the truth all the time. You find ways. Come on, where is the family dynamics here?

The makers have done an excellent job of showcasing an emotion many of their female viewers must feel. Atleast for DQ, last night, I wanted to grow wings and go give my dad a tight hug for everytime he spoke up for me...😭 Most times he did damage... but I know that for everytime that he spoke there were 10 other instances where he bit his tongue. I may be an adult capable of making my own decisions, but I have enough times in my adult life ran to him and cried when the world has been unfair to me.. He didn't just tell me "sorry love, life is unfair..." He stood by me and gave me strength. Bijoy's ways are wrong, his intention isn't. I hope he gets credit and more importantly, reassurance that all is well in his child's life.

Perhaps Dev is the one who can handle Bijoy better than his own offsprings can.⭐️

Thank you for elaborating Sam.. This is how I interpret Sonakshi's thought process too. She needs to see Dev as an individual in his own right. He may be Ishwari's moon and Sona's sun etc. But he is a "thing" in this universe that has its own matter and gravitational pull. He can handle himself without being manipulated by other's around him. I dont know if Sona is actively looking for that. I do think when she sees an independent Dev, her relationship with him and his family will change for the better
