Payal, I think it is a two edged thing for him right now. Yes he knows that he loves and and she loves him too. But he also knows that his mother is also in the same place as she was 7 years ago. For him Ishwari is non negotiable. Even if they had decided to live separately as he suggested, he would have made sure to visit IN often, maybe even take Suhana with him and care for Ishwari as she is his mother to whom he feels indebted. He knows his mother is not god, but a flawed human. But he also knows that for that reason he cannot completely cut his relationship with her. She is still his responsibility and similar to a kid. He knows it is not of much use to try and convince her. Especially since Ishwari has made it very clear that she does not want Sonakshi back in Dev's or her life.Coming to Sonakshi, even though she loves Dev, she has made it abundantly clear that she is not interested in getting back together. Also he does not want to hurt Sonakshi in any way and does not want a repeat of what happened 7 years ago. If at that time he feared lsing Sonakshi, now he fears losing both Soha and Sonakshi. He is a guy who is very emotional and also lacks the kind of family support that Sonakshi had/has. When Sonakshi and Dev broke up, her family tried to understand her pain and cheer her up. They were there for her. But that is not the case with Dev. There was literally no one for him to share his pain.He has now reached a point that if he loses even one of them (Soha or Sona), chances of him living sanely is not possible in his perspective. He wants to maintain the status quo until that time at least when he is able to deal with it i.e. he gains that strength through his daughter. Also he wants that opening from Sonakshi where she gives him at least a small space to enter her life which till now she has not given. And he is not one of those who reads between the lines. π
