For him Ishwari is non negotiable. Even if they had decided to live separately as he suggested, he would have made sure to visit IN often, maybe even take Suhana with him and care for Ishwari as she is his mother to whom he feels indebted.

He knows his mother is not god, but a flawed human. But he also knows that for that reason he cannot completely cut his relationship with her. She is still his responsibility and similar to a kid. He knows it is not of much use to try and convince her. Especially since Ishwari has made it very clear that she does not want Sonakshi back in Dev's or her life.

Coming to Sonakshi, even though she loves Dev, she has made it abundantly clear that she is not interested in getting back together. Also he does not want to hurt Sonakshi in any way and does not want a repeat of what happened 7 years ago. If at that time he feared lsing Sonakshi, now he fears losing both Soha and Sonakshi. He is a guy who is very emotional and also lacks the kind of family support that Sonakshi had/has. When Sonakshi and Dev broke up, her family tried to understand her pain and cheer her up. They were there for her. But that is not the case with Dev. There was literally no one for him to share his pain.

He has now reached a point that if he loses even one of them (Soha or Sona), chances of him living sanely is not possible in his perspective. He wants to maintain the status quo until that time at least when he is able to deal with it i.e. he gains that strength through his daughter. Also he wants that opening from Sonakshi where she gives him at least a small space to enter her life which till now she has not given. And he is not one of those who reads between the lines. πŸ˜†

Just would like to add a point... Dev wants Sonakshi in his life in some form or the other. In fact he needs her to be around. The first break up showed that. The next day he called her. She asked him why did you call and he said I don't need a reason to call you. Sonakshi clearly mentions that we are now strangers and you have no right over me.

That's when Dev completely breaks down. The effect of the breakup hits him. He starts stalking Sonakshi and a glimpse of her was enough to keep him going. Only when she showed she was moving on , did that rock his boat.

Today he knows if Soha is happy Sonakshi is happy. Also Sonakshi has made it very clear that nothing is more important to her than Soha's happiness.

So Dev has this single minded focus to keep Soha happy because that kind of assures that Soha and Sonakshi will be in his life. He feels alive only when he is around Sona. We have seen that in the post leap episodes and seen that very very clearly. Even when he claimed to have moved on or hate her. But he felt alive only when he either saw her or met her, spoke to her or even fought with her like he locked her in office. He happily told Golu someone was going to scold him.

So primarily Dev just needs Sona in his circle of life to survive ...

What I simply Like about Dev is that he does know he wasnt good and fair to Sonakshi..even if he doesnt accept that in front of Sonakshi and for the time being they both wont do that because they are not thinking of their future together..They are in very different zone where their whole sole purpose of life is to be with Soha and do best possible for her and it touches my heart..Thier is time in life when your whole world revolves around your children and for them she is not only their world but their source or surviving..Also As I dont see any effort from both sides to patch up..They know this is not possible and their are various reasons for that..Only love is not required to be back together this time and they realize it well..Another point which I simply love Dev never pretends to be perfect or flawless in front of Soha and accepts what he is..and how he is :)

This track has started so beautifully couldn't have asked for anything better he at one side teases irritates Bijoy but also understands the reason of his anger hate..and also at the same time he assured even if Bijoy will ask him to go he will not leave Soha..which he couldn't do in case of Sonakshi..he scummed under pressure and Ishwari's ultimatum and got separated :)

My POV No Offense :)

Fantastic posts guys πŸ‘ decoding Dev Dixit... so interesting to read everyone's point of view!

He's too scared and vulnerable right now... discovering he has a daughter is the biggest joy he is feeling since his break up with Sonakshi..somewhere he lost faith in love and is scared to bring that back in his life!

He doesn't even have a support system to guide him for his happiness.. he has a very selfish family-Golu was his savior, best friend etc...and still is in Ishwari niwas!

Two scenes that touched me the most were when Dev confesses to his daughter about troubling Sonakshi
And little Golu saying we must not disturb Dev's first day with Soha
πŸ€— this is for Golu.. simply amazing to watch him:) this episode was one of the best post leap πŸ‘

PS: sizzling precap guys ..loving it ❀️

Oh one more thing which I forgot to mention..Can everyone stop expecting Dev Sonakshi to take stand for each other and defending each other in front of their respective oldies..

OH they very well know the attitude of these oldies by now..they can handle them on their own..why they need some guard or shield everytime ..Dev can deal with Bijoy the way he think he should and Sonakshi dealing with Ishwari the way she feels is right..Why they need each other for that..they are 30 +..they are going to be guests in each other's house so they should know how they have to live their and survive..so I dont expect that not now atleast..if oldies dont understand why and what they are doing then they can make them understand in their own way..As parents they are equal ..Is it wrong to expect that ?

PS - Oh Soha looked too cute in that peplum top and lehenga and cute hair accessories such doll <3

No offence My POV :)

1. A guy knows he still loves his ex wife.

2. He understands that the breakup was his fault.

3. He has realised his mother is not God incarnate but a woman with issues.

4. He knows his ex wife has not moved on.

5. He can't tolerate the presence of any other guy in the life of his wife and daughter.

6. He has a daughter and would do anything to be with her.

What stops this guy from trying to win his wife back? Is it male ego which stops him from accepting his mistakes or he loves his mother so much that is ready to sacrifice his family at the altar of her insecurities?

Hi Payal,

In the first instance during their separation, I strongly believe that he said those harsh words and let Sona go from his life was because of his sudden realization...It was the wake up call he had just then received from his mother in the form of prenup that made him realise that his mom and Sona can never stay under the same roof and still be happy...I still believe that on that dreadful day in his life, he chose a 'Less Stressful' life for Sona by letting her go away from his life... and by keeping himself still attached to his mother, he gave her a 'secure old age life'...just like any son would do.

And now inspite of all the 6 reasons that you have listed in your post (rightly said πŸ‘πŸΌ), the above reasons still stand in his way...he knows that nothing has changed between his mom and Sona!

I dont think its his male ego or his unconditional love for his mother that is stopping him from confessing his heart out to Sona and re-uniting with her...

Just my POV...πŸ˜ƒ

Nice post Mahua. πŸ‘. @bold Red. This is exactly what Dev wanted Sonakshi to do. He wanted Sonakshi to stop paying attention to what Ishwari wants and focus only on him. During the marriage track, one thing he kept saying over and over was "Do whatever you want, but stay with me always". Today that is what he promised Suhana that he is there with her forever. For him everythign else is secondary.

But one thing that sounded ominous was Vickky's words. Wonder what he is thinking. Of the lot he is more dangerous than maami. If she is bad, he is worse. 😑 πŸ˜•

Thanks Shavi :)
Shavi he did mentioned it quite a few times in the beginning..but when staying in joint family..you want to be part of that family along with part of being husband's life and unknowingly you get too absorbed with family part that wife mode takes back seat..Sonakshi knew she has perfect place in Dev's life a secure one but now she has to earn here place in this house..which I wont say she was completely wrong..she was honest with her attempts but what according to me went wrong was she couldn't make balance between her wife life and DIL life..situations became very messy and tangled she did try hard but she got too tired by the end I feel..and gave up..

Yes he wanted that from her and she too wanted the same ..for Dev having her by his side gave him stability comfort assurance strength power..someone to fall back on..and thats his major grudge which I always mentions people think Dev has no reason to get angry with Sonakshi but he lost the major part of his soul life his reason to survive breath..he basically lost the motive to live..when you rely on some one in so many ways and if that person leaves its such a shitty thing.. makes you feel completely hollow..he knows he was unfair to her he admits it but he wanted her to help him fight with circumstances and just hold him strong..well anyways..they have to start fresh now..past is gone they can only cry over it..now they need to think what they want from each other ATM it doesnt look like they want anything of any sort except some mutual understanding that too regarding Suhana LOL..so fair enough let them be figure out and take time for doing so..Let them enjoy parenthood the day they will feel they need to be someone else apart from bein a parent they will work in that direction..until then these hot romantic moments are LIT and drool worthy..HAHA

Oh Vickey and mami reminded of of their latest kaarnama..the snake one LMAO..well they can plan 100 things..let Soha come with Sonakshi to Dixit house ..things will be out of control for them and Ex GKB will manao matam in her fantastic Shakespeare level worthy english..LOL
IF Dev is slaying well in Bose house I expect Sonakshi to do the same and see the magic happen..so just go with the flow

My POV..no hurt intended :)

Sam this sentence reminded me of Julia Roberts's dialogue towards the end of the movie "Notting Hill". In that she tells Hugh Grant that "she is also just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her .". It is also one of my favorite romantic movies (yes, I am a hopeless romantic πŸ˜† πŸ˜†).

I hope they do take this scene as an inspiration. 😳

Thanks everyone for clearing my doubts 😳.
But one thing that was common throughout was that Dev can't leave Ishwari and he knows that she wouldn't let Sonakshi live on peace.

So where is the character growth in him from the very first break up? What sort of a love story is this which is dependent on a third partys wishes?

Also then why should Sona trust him and go back to him if it all still depends on mummy's moods. I have been watching season 2 in the hope that Dev grows up as a man and he substantially has.

He knows his mother is unlivable with but he can tell her, her boundaries or make her powerless to hurt his family.

But if he is still not trying to get his happiness because mummy doesn't approve I don't know what to say.

His feeling that Sona doesn't trust him is right then. Why should she?
