I feel this is where dev should have helped her. For him and his family, Mami's words may not matter may be because they must have listened worst than these when they were under their shelter. But it's not the case with Sona. He protected her when she was his employee and also even after marriage he took stand for her in many occasions. But I feel where he failed is in communicating same to her. Any way lack of communication is always their issue. She never voiced her struggle and he never understood her trouble.

Hi, Latha
What I have felt is that both Dev and Sona have never taken maami's insults to heart. For them it was clear that if Ishwari wanted then she would have shut her up in a jiffy. When Sona was working there and she left after Ishwari shouted at her because of maami's manipulation, Dev had a talk with his mother saying "Tu alag hein maami se". Ishwari understood that she came under maam's influence. Dev promised her that he will willingly do everything to pay back their ehsaan if she takes care of herself. This same thing he explained to Sona in a different way before her accident. If Sona wanted she could have shut maami up any time she wanted. But they both were quiet because of Ishwari. That was the difference that Dev saw during the fake pregnancy drama.

Agree with whatever you said.

It takes years to become an executive member of a family. Sona wanted it to be done asap and got hurt in the process. This was actually due to very diverse family backgrounds.

Sona came from a family where there were no boundaries, no hidden limits, no hidden agendas.

Dixit family was full of them. So when Sona tried to apply the bose lifestyle in Dixit house, it automatically led to resistance and resentment.

Even in an organisation it takes lots of top driven efforts to bring about Change as it is the most difficult to achieve and most old hands are change averse and consider it a threat to their positions. Usually there are huge management upheavals done to implement change.

Inspite of all this, it is still easier in an organisation. But how can it be done within a few days in a family where you yourself are new and your position insecure. Obviously insecure members of the family with hidden agendas like Neha and gkb ganged up against Sona to remove her from their family.

Actually it is the age old story of rabbit and the tortoise. Slow and steady always wins when it comes to relationships.

The bigger problem was that Dev was an extraordinarily low EQ individual who could never clearly communicate these things and his family boundaries and issues to his wife. He will only say, let it be, don't do this. But would never be able to articulate why.

Add to it his mummy obsession and the result was for all to enjoy and Dev, Sona and Soha to suffer.

You hit the nail in the head. Sonakshi was aiming high and hoping to get to that executive position. And like Sam has mentioned before, in patriarchal set-ups, its taken the women-folk many years to reach there (I hope I got that bit right). More importantly, there is a method to the madness of most families. I would in fact extend this thought and say that families like the Boses also have executive members and unsaid rules (see some of my questions in the gender neutral post).

Every new member needs to be given time and space to settle in . Likewise new team members need to take it slow.

The devakshi marriage like most marriages had its own set of challenges including an Obbhodro with zero EQ, a khargosh who was too keen..

@geena, I got your point yaar. What I was trying to say is there was a time when she use to get affected with Mami's words and that was Natasha's track. If someone keep on telling me that I am good for nothing then unconsciously those words will impact us in our thinking process and that's what I felt in her talks with Elena and Dada in Natasha's track.

After confession, she never took Mami's words seriously. When ever she felt like giving it back, she gave it with interest which was well appreciated by her husband through his silent support (muh dikhai scene). This is the reason why I was never able to understand when people use to complain that dev never took stand for Sona. Because I never thought she needs him next her to protect her from his family. She is more than enough to handle them since she is a tigress. I hope I made sense.😊

Ok...my first post in this wonderful series...😃
In my views reg Sona and Ish(with respect to the posts which mentioned Sona is dominant and has leadership qualities...my take might have a different angle...let me try...😆)

Sona has been a successful career oriented, independant woman. Her views were listened to, respected and considered by her parents. Acceptance she has been used to...never felt the lack of it. Dreamt of a fairy tale romance and could not believe herself when Prince charming came knocking at her doors...

Only struggle she faced after this was acceptance...Acceptance by Ish and Dixit family. She tried her best in moulding herself into the family rituals, lending an ear and hand to Ish but Ish had mentally blocked her senses to understand Sona in any way...thanks to her soul sis GKB and her kind advises. So Sona never wanted to prove her mettle in handling all things well...the core need for all these attempts was just acceptance.

Sona and Ish also faced a tug of war in the game of possessing Dev. The pull from both sides tore the love, trust and bonding of a couple, the blind faith of a son towards his mother and the paradise bubble image of marraige for Sona. Ish and Sona share the same insecurity, the same possessiveness for Dev. Sona now mirrors the same insecurity for Soha.

Coming to motherhood... I agree the boundaries of Ish's insecurity is limitless...😆...and i am keen to know how r they going to portray Sona's motherhood once Dev comes into the picture.

Hope i made some sense as i got confused by the end of this post as to what i was trying to convey...😕

@DQ Agree 100%. Bose family also has unwritten rules
Is Saurabh not at the lowest rung in the Bose ladder? But since he is a man, his constant humiliation and disparaging at the hands of his father is considered comic relief and Ishwari ignoring her daughters a terrible act. A major reason for saurabh being a good for nothing is bijoy the way a major reason for Neha being mean and petty was Ishwari.

As you rightly said we should be gender neutral. It's human beings who err, it's humans who hurt others and are selfish or biased and it's again humans who feel the pain. It's not men only or women only. Hope cvs show bijoy also being made to answer for his life long treatment of saurabh.

My opinion has been -> "Gender neutrality / Feminism isn't the main theme of the show. We see it off and on because its part of the current urban make-up"
And as the show proceeds I am more confident of the same

Now I will put on my opinion about the current discussion and the spoiler news which are coming.
Now we required to consider the situation in which dev and sona's marriage happened. Firstly before that they gone throw the breakup and after that according to parents wish they get married for them they are ok for quick marriage because they want to be with each other as early as possible. But the situation in there families were different. here bijoy and ishu was not accepted there marriage whole hartedly but some how they donot have any other option. so on the first night itself sona come to know about the ishu's real need for this marriage. so as sona knows the importance or I will say hold dev's life and some how she was having an confidence that dev will not stand in this situation openly. She try to sort the matter in her own way and give the power to Ishu to interfere in there married or private life. dev come to know about the situation on the diwali night when Ishu come from the temple. At that point only he come to know abut the Ishu's game that "dev sabase jada kisaka he" so after that in may situation he try to find the way in his own way which he was following for years and give the power to interfere in there married life. This is all about the Ishu now come to Bijoy his direct interference get started with the sona's infertility and get increase with the slap gate. In this every situation these fool people who loves each other madly give the command of there life in there families hand and Now we know the outcome.

Now coming to the new entries in s2 for dev and sona one is already done and another is on the way according to spoiler. So guys get ready for deja vu of double date. At this moment both dev and sona don't want to remove there mask. But both know that they cant maintain it for a longer time. that way Dev want they sona should leave. And at the same time He is now smart enough to recognize the Ishu's insecurities. So his problem that he can't hold this mask for longer time and some how he has seen the sona's mask also. with the changes in the Ishu's behavior he knows what is coming.so his brain want that sona should be away and his heart is saying something else. After some time when sona will come to know abut the changed dev for her also it is going to difficult for her so I will not surprise that is they both for the time being to maintain the mask and to save each other from there parents behavior will agree to think for another person. But I think at one point (Please god I beg you put some brain the these two peoples head )and they will understand that they should think for each other first and work on there relation and then there families. And I will be supper happy if at the end of this third angle track they will sort the matters accept there mistakes and give the preference to there love and there life and get elope and get married like vikki and elena or just inform there families and take a direct action waiting for there acceptence and live separately. Dev should get his small percentage of shares like 10 % . Even sona should transfer the ownership to dada and bijoy .
Some how I am confidence that Ishu will not do accept her mistakes unless and until she comes on the road and is she trust mami and vikki then this is not far.

I have been reading the discussion, hence joining in 😊

I feel Neha and Saurabh's case are slightly different.

Saurabh had a normal childhood. Bijoy does make fun of Saurabh, but clearly he loves him a lot. (Remember how Bijoy reacted when Saurabh's biz partner cheated him). And Asha is also there to take his side when Bijoy is pulling his leg. I felt Saurabh liked annoying Bijoy sometimes and enjoyed the football scoldings, while rest of the family supports him. He himself doesn't take them seriously hence it doesn't affect him. Moreover, Bijoy is genuinely always there to support his either kids whenever they fall.

Neha, on the other hand, did not have a normal childhood. She has deep seated insecurities and inferiority complex related to her self worth. Ishwari verbally tells her, she is her mother and she is always there. But she is not that much emotionally available to Neha, or she would have handled Neha's marriage issues above her own insecurities. Neha relates smallest of things with her complexes and is very easily affected.
