I knew there was something fishy about them coming back a day early. So our Sona and Dev have been happily manao-ing a permanent, loved-up honeymoon in Shimla for the past seven years? 😲

I like that thought! 😉

Exactly, our babies are living happily in their lala land. These two aliens came in their place and playing thashan game currently by mud slinging in public.

Soha's woollen cap and boots had given me (false?) hopes that they actually do live together in Shimla (like grown up humans) and Dev split his time between Delhi and Shimla. A girl can dream

On a serious note ladies, let me throw a cat among the pigeons. As Season 2 progresses, and we continue to get more and more opportunities to scratch the surface on our characters' new avatars, we should be able to see how they do remain the same at core. We have seen a lot in the last 2 weeks however remember today will be the 12th episode of season 2... Season 1 was around 230+ episodes long. It took them about 75 episodes before confession happened, right?

I will admit, I am guilty of not understanding Shimla well enough. I am glad I wrote my thread "shirtless in shimla" and many of you enlightened me there. Because as the current season progresses, Shimla actually makes more and more sense.

My thinking is that the leap had been planned for a while now. Perhaps was always on the cards. Shaavi's posts have helped this leap make sense to me.

This season is quite complicated/layered actually and I am watching it with season 1 in the background always referencing what was said/done/not said back then. Its loud (Ishwari niwas needs to be toned down and ex-gkb needs to start speaking in hindi for starters) and often times you are left wondering - hang on, why would he/she say/do that? We dont know what happened in those 7 years. We just know they both split with a rage within them. How they dealt with those emotions and which one of those are yet not dealt with is yet to be explored.

Another thing is, we see a Dev that Sona hasn't yet seen. Similarly, Dev doesn't know much about this Sona either. They are both holding on to their partners' perception which they created in the build up to that fateful night and also some that they have created since - possibly in an attempt to deal with the pain/curve-ball that life must have thrown at them in the last 7 years. And thus they are venting and reacting to what they see. How much have they changed and how much will they now change is yet to unfold.

Okay, off of my soapbox...

"No one can hate you with more intensity than someone who used to love you".

-Rick Riordan-

Dev have settled his scores with his family and is keen on keeping the relationships on his terms. But the one person whom he couldn't do that was Sonakshi. According to him she left him when he chooses to be with her and never trusted him enough to fight for their relationship. He was coming to terms with her rejection and trying to move on and her being out of his sight helped him in this. But from the moment he set eyes on her he was lost. He believed himself to be happy and content with life. But the Sonakshi he saw was an antithesis to the Sona he knew. There was nothing in her eyes and demeanor except deep loathing for him. He might be angry and disappointed in her but doesn't hate her that way and is surprised and is at unease, telling himself that he doesn't deserve that.

In relationships usually there is a balance between love and hate and when the relationships sours the balance tilts and only hate remains. Usually the partner who makes the most sacrifices or works the most to keep the relationship going will be more bitter and angrier.

The new Sona comes with tough armour and Dev is trying to penetrate this armour to be at an even footing. But she is now also equipped with an upgraded firing capacity and this is taking a toll on him. She won't let her guards down and show her vulnerability around him especially because of Soha. She made herself believe that Soha will be ill-treated by the Dixits, she being her daughter and doesn't expect Dev to stand up for her. This was necessary for her to justify her decision to keep Soha's existence from Dev. They know each other so well that they attack each other where it hurts most.

Dev will hate Sona, once Soha's existence comes to light. But then hurting Sona, will deeply impact his daughter since Sona is the only parent she has ever known. Where he wants to hurt most, his hand will end up tied.

Okay, off of my soapbox...

I actually went back and read the post(Shirtless in Shimla) along with all the comments. Looking back that was the first honest conversation that Dev and Sonakshi had after their patch up and marriage. This was the first time where Sonakshi was completely vulnerable and Dev could offer his support.

Comparing it to the episodes now, the story has to reach there for them to once again tell the truth about their feelings, not just to others, but to themselves. Both Dev and Sonakshi need to admit their true feelings regarding everything. Even what the words they said on the night in the farmhouse to themselves.

I feel Soha will get to know Dev before knowing him as her dad. This will probably cause confusion to her in the way that he will be so different than what her mom projected him to be. Both Dev and Sonakshi will continue to hurt each other and will probably stop only when they see how this is affecting Soha. And Soha will be affected because she will not be able to understand how Sona can be right and wrong at the same time in terms of Dev. She may be the person who will show them how different they are now.

I also think the truths will come out in regular intervals(just like in season 1. I mean Sonakshi first thought Dev was cruel, but slowly she came to know his good side) regarding everyone. I also felt watching Elena yesterday that she will not support Vickky if she comes to know the real extent of his manipulations and his role in separating Dev and Sonakshi. Vickky may end up loosing more than he bargained for and in that despair he may drag maami along with him revealing her role...

As to the characters still remaining the same at the core, they have shown that many times. Dev still cares for his mom(may not be as blindly as before), but still cares the same to make sure that she takes her medicine on time, that he goes to meet her when maami says Ishwari was sad and stayed only in her room. and also ensures that none of the needs of his family is not fulfilled. he does all these, along with taking care of his happiness too.

Sona on the other hand had always put her family before her, even when she accepted the job with Dev in the initial episodes, she thought of them more than her. She even says the same to Dev when her proposal with Kushal is broken. All she has done in the past 7 years was to give back what her family lost because of her(she feels she is responsible). Whatever she is doing, she is thinking this will give back her family's respect. I feel that is one of the things that she is looking from Dev.

Hopefully the CVs have some good way of moving the story forward...😃

Okay, so let me get this straight. Sona really thinks that she can work in the same office as Dev, deliberately provoke his temper regularly, and keep hiding Soha from him? What kind of superhuman control does she think she has? This reminds me so much of the case of Dev and the fake pregnancy; he had the same delusions of control in a ticking time bomb of a situation.

I found the phone call from Soha's teacher the most interesting part of the episode. So Soha is fighting now, and instead of being deeply concerned that her daughter is engaging in physical violence, Sona is determined to negate the existence of the man who is, at that very moment, standing in front of her. Mark my words, this very scene will play back when Dev finds out about Soha and those words, "he doesn't exist" are going to be the reason it gets ugly. When he finds out about Soha, Dev will already have preconceived notions about what Sona taught their daughter because of the point she was trying to make in a moment of extreme bitterness, and he will be up in arms to fight back against it. So much ugliness in store. 🤢

Soha clearly has a lot of pent-up anger that she doesn't have an outlet for. A fellow student telling her that fathers are better than mothers provokes her because she doesn't have one of her own. Mothers have to be better than fathers, otherwise Soha has to acknowledge the pain and emptiness of missing something in her life. She has to go against the word she gave her mother, that she would always stay by her side. And this is where the conflict starts. The decision not to reveal Soha to Dev and the Dixits can be justified, but robbing Soha of her father, and deciding for her that she needs only one parent, is where it gets really murky. Anger, violence, and bad behaviour are usually a cry for help from children and the urgent call from the teacher should have rung alarm bells for Sona. Instead, she took it as an opportunity to secure her psychological edge over Dev. On the one hand, I am really happy to see Sona showing her human side -- she is not able to process everything perfectly at the same time. On the other hand, I am sad that Suhana put in this position.

Soha is unconcsiously mirrorring her parents' behaviour. They are fighting like cats and dogs, in public, and over the most petty things in order to mask the real issues, and so is she. I think it's an indication that her world can only be at peace when her parents are acting like parents, aka mature adults.

Dev, what is with all the obvious lurking? 😕

Excellent post and you are right about Suhana. I wanted to express these thoughts when I wrote about single parenting issues. It's a fact that a child needs both parents while growing up and one cannot fulfil the obligation/void of the other. Children of single parent usually pretend that everything is right in their lives, but then are lost when confronted with their peers and questions alike. Suhana's behaviour earlier when she marched to the Princi's office was lauded in the forum as a sign of independence and good upbringing. But, lurking somewhere was a mind that was probably growing very fast. If you look at Dev, the moment he sets his eyes on Golu, he is stress free and treats him like a normal 6 year old. Teasing, playing and telling stories. Sonakshi believes she can handle both the responsibilities with ease. But, Suhana appears to be missing her father in her life. That's where I felt that the children in school may not befriend her - now if she has started fighting, it seems more logical- and Golu might try and become her friend, after consulting bigcha!!! 😃 I feel that Dev would make a wonderful father, if Suhana does not see him confronting and messing with Sonakshi.

Incidentally, today's episode rattled me. Sonakshi was subdued and calm. She donned her cap of Swabhimaan again. I liked that. She distributed sweets to Dev's employees. I liked that very much. She offered them to Dev and even forced him to take them, with his hand. I really liked that. 😳 Would she have even bothered to insist if the office belonged to someone else! So, what do you want from Dev, Sonakshi? The last scene of switching off the lights reminded me that Sonakshi was scared of darkness. Is Dev trying to encase? Has Sonakshi overcome the fear?

Today's episode was one of the interesting best that they have shown. There were lot of things that were very symbolic.
  • Sonakshi saying Soha's dad does not exist -- I agree with @Samanalyse that Sona is very wrong here. She could have answered it differently and not just outright dismiss that talk.
  • Dev trying to get rid of her by giving her a blank check -- I think Dev is quiet for most part as he feels he was the one who was wrong. That he made a lot of mistakes. His feelings of love and his words of "you are always right, Ms. Bose" is not letting him to go beyond a certain limit even when she says really personal insults.
  • Sonakshi saying some people dont even see things even when mirror is shown --- I feel Sonakshi is ready to show him the mirror, but not ready to see it herself. Just because Dev did not call out on her mistakes does not mean that she did not do mistakes. I think Soha will be the mirror that Dev is going to show...
  • Sonakshi putting the name plate in front of god -- We all felt it was wrong of Dev to put Ishwari in gods place, to follow her blindly. But looks like Sonakshi is doing the same. She also put her father on pedestal and looks at everything through his eyes.
  • Dev and Sonakshi's talk of relationship management -- After the birthday fiasco(where Sona waited for hrs in front of the night club), I feel Dev put his relationship with Sona as his top priority. For him all other relations took a back seat and they did not really matter as much as his relationship with her to him. But at the same time, he wanted Sonakshi to do the same. Make him her priority. I think this is where Sona kind of failed to understand him and started looking at everything through Bijoy's eyes. She kind of oscillated between self respect and ego when with him(This is just my POV)
I feel Soha will be the eye opener. Her fighting that mom's are better than dad is very significant. For one she does not know her dad. But she also did not feel that Bijoy is a better parent to Sonakshi than Asha even when she has seen them parenting Sona. I think Soah will be the reason for Dev to kind of break silence and question Sonakshi. I think this is where they will show what he meant by "Bose sisters always misunderstood me".

Sonakshi reminds me of Harry Potter. In one of the books Albus Dumbledore tells Snape that although Harry looked a lot like his father on the outside and displayed most of his characters the same as dad, deep down he was his mothers son. His real personality was like Lily's. I feel it holds true for Sonakshi too. Ever since the first patch up and marriage everything Sonakshi wanted to do was make sure her dad was proud of her and her choice. It was to constantly prove that she is the best as Bijoy said she is...😊

i think this is the reason why Dev and Sonakshi are perfect for each other on so many levels...😊
